We were celebrating my niece's son's 4th birthday in less than three days and one of my responsibilities was to order the cake. Ok, no problem... he likes Strawberries and he loves Spiderman. I don't normally do things last minute, but my plan on buying a cake at Wal-Mart and finding Spiderman cake toppers online fell through. So, I decided to look through YELP for a local bakery with great reviews that can help me out in such short a time. I contacted Sunshine Cakes Thursday evening after hours; fortunately (for me), she picked up. I spent the next two hours explaining what kind of cake I am looking for, texting photos back and forth of different cakes, receiving a much needed lesson on the icing differences between whipped cream, fondant, and butter cream. I did not know which would work well and which wouldn't on certain colors/designs. She patiently explained all this to me phone in one ear, while making a cake at the same time! Ms Sunshine and I finalized everything the next day (Fri) and she said my cake would be ready for pick up Sunday morning. On top of all THIS, she hooked me up with a local place that had Spiderman Pinatas. I told her that I visited two places, called two others with no luck, and was planning on going to the Pinata District in Downtown LA... What a lifesaver!!! I picked up the cake, which was beautifully boxed on Sunday morning. Ms Sunshine knowing that I was running around tying up loose ends for the party, went against company policy and allowed me to pay her in full during pick up. I received a lot of compliments on both the look and the taste of the cake. My niece's son, Raiden wanted to see the cake, but I told him to wait until we brought it out for the party. I brought the cake home and was going to put it in the back refrigerator, but Nature Calls. I come out of the restroom and see Raiden with a BIG smile on his face. I was looking for a cake for my birthday and stumbled upon this yelp page. I really liked the work so I reached out. I saw such good reviews so I assumed I was going to get great customer service and professionalism but I got the complete opposite! I called inquiring about a dummy cake (one tier cake and the other styrofoam). She asked for the cake size and I gave it to her but she never responded! I had to reach out again asking for a quote(10/10/21). She said she was on vacation for the long weekend. So I assumed that I was going to be getting a text with a quote at around Tuesday/Wednesday the latest (mind you, she said she had open availability for that Saturday coming up so I was running out of time and getting antsy hoping to get all the info about my cake done). I don't think she even makes the cakes herself ! She said she needed to check with her SUPPLIER for a price and then NEVER got back to me. I shouldn't have to be begging her or constantly reaching out. She knew it was last minute but was willing to work with me at first. Just imagine how stressed and frustrated I was just waiting on her! I agree with the other person who left a review commenting on her attitude. I did text her expressing my frustration and she responded back with a very nasty attitude and disregarding all of the facts!
