It's so hard to spot if you're not paying attention, but this place has a generic "BAKERY" sign. It's actually a Duke Bakery and their bread is always SO GOOD!!! We always get a couple of breads from here when we pass by the area. It never misses. The bread is really soft and fresh. (Not all in one sitting) I recommend this place if you need your bread fix. The staff is friendly. This bakery chain participates in Too Good To Go (APP). This place is one of my all-time favorite local bakeries and it's my first time buying bread from this location. I love the taro bread but I wanted to switch it up today so I tried the sesame bread and the garlic bread. I feel like the sesame flavor wasn't that strong and it was a little disappointing that the filling was not evenly distributed. The left side was all bread (which was so fluffy and delicious) and the right side was only sesame. The garlic bread was a lot better. I usually don't go for savory bread so the fact that I like this one says something. It wasn't heavy and overly greasy like most Asian bakeries but instead had a very garlicky center. read more

So happy that Duke Bakery is opened in Walnut on Grand and Amar which is across of Mt. Sac (Mt. San Antonio college). I just knew it until today! They didn't put their store name outside (only Bakery) so I didn't know until I went inside and saw their packaging bags. It used be a Korean owned bakery called Walnut Bakery. I always love Duke Bakery coz they have high quality bread even though the prices are slightly higher than others. I especially like their matcha red bean bread, the size is huge and it's filled with lots of red bean inside and taste delicious. And the other one I like is Chinese Wolfberry bread (Goji), tasty and healthy! I don't need to go to the one in Rowland Heights anymore. Btw, I can still use my Duke Bakery VIP card to get extra 10% discount. I hope they will have cakes option on the display though. read more

I've passed this location several times in the past, but it was always closed and out of business. I recently saw a neon "Open" sign so I decided to stop by. Imagine my surprise to discover that it's a Duke's Bakery location! Nothing indicated that it was Duke's except for a little logo sign on the bottom corner of their window. The sign above their shop is a generic "Bakery" sign in yellow. The paper sign on the door says they are closed on Sundays. I went in around 10:00 am and was hoping for a bunch of fresh bread smells wafting at me, but there was none. It actually looked quite sad upon entry. There were mostly empty shelves surrounding the shop, there were a few breads in the center, with only about 2 - 3 loafs per flavor. Not sure what they would do if they get more customers like me who buy a bunch of breads at once...do they close once they run out of inventory? The prices are higher than other Asian bakeries, but the size of the breads are really generous and I really love how creative they get with their flavors. I did pick up a few items, and it was hit or miss with the freshness. While most were soft and yummy, a couple were stale. I don't think they bake in house, since I went early in the morning and none of their items were warm or had condensation, and I don't know how long they keep their breads out, or maybe they drive it over from another Duke's location? I tried to ask the lady working there when the shop opened but she didn't speak English so we just kept our communication to smiles. Good, fluffy moist bread and pastries. I was happy that a bakery was still going to exist in this specific center, as there was a previous bakery that was in this strip mall before it closed. Duke Bakery has a few other stores in the area (e.g., Rowland Heights/Hacienda Heights), and the other Asian bakery near Walnut would probably be Uncle Chuang's in Pomona (it's okay...). They are a Chinese bakery, not Taiwanese, not Korean. That being said, there are some European-style breads, and some of the offerings could be a nod to Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese baked goods. Located in the shopping mall next to Mt. SAC, it's a small bakery. Of the times I've visited, they've either been 1) randomly closed for whatever reason, or 2) extremely limited selection. Like, so limited, that it's just either packaged cookies, and maybe a few buns. And, I don't really live in the area, so, if I do visit, it's going to be a holiday or a weekend. Maybe they sell out by the time I get there? However, of the things I've finally been able to try here, they're good. Fairly fresh goods, and not too sweet/salty. read more

I go to the Rowland location often, so I am familiar with the taste and texture of Duke Bakery. The bread here is not fresh. I got a Hokkaido azuki milk bread. The inside was dry like cardboard. Usually when I leave my Duke bakery bread overnight, it's still soft and plush the next day. This bread was SO DRY AND STALE. Don't know when it was baked... maybe earlier this week? Horrible and at $5 for a small loaf, it is just not worth it. Warning others so you don't waste money like me :( read more

Usually go to the one in rowland heights which is a bigger store. I'm happy that they have a chain in walnut , taste wise the bread is good but unfortunately it wasn't that fresh and kind of dry.. . You can tell it wasn't baked the day of . But overall place is clean & they have good variety of bread options. read more

I was so excited when I found out that Duke Bakery opened a location in Walnut! They're currently running a deal where you get a $20 certificate when you spend $20+ in store. LOCATION: located in the plaza across from Mt. Sac; replaced Walnut Bakery PARKING: free, easy to find MAIN TAKEAWAY: Their price point is higher than the previous bakery, but their prices are reflective of their high quality and fresh treats! My favorite is the chocolate bread, which is essentially chocolate buns with a rich chocolate filling. The service was great, and I will definitely be back for more! read more

Came across this bakery. Hard to really know that it's a bakery as there is no sign that outstands. I tried a goodie bag and it was plentiful. I really liked two of the items in the bag, the others were tasty, fluffy, very soft and a good simple treat. The lady was very friendly and helpful and provided quick service. It's a nice clean bakery with lots of shelves. Some of the shelves were empty, but i was there at the end of the day. Its worth a try and I was not disapointed in my goodie bag. read more

The breads are huge and stuffed with delicious and flavorful flavors. They have try outs with led us to buy even more since they were all so yummy! When we were checking out the lady let us know if we buy one more we would get one for free and she was so helpful and patient! I highly recommend the coconut and pumpkin! The bread were all so soft and fresh! There's also a coffee and chicken place in the same store. Each bread was around $4-5 on average but the size was bigger than most places like 85. read more

Came here today and I've been waiting for a Dukes Bakery in Walnut! I go to the one in Rowland Heights frequently and so I'm happy they have one here. I got myself a chocolate bread and an egg tart. A nondescript establishment, with barely any signage. You might miss it. My children and I went here during a late afternoon and found that the baked goods were nearly bought out. The sales lady offered to cut some bread for us to try. We declined and decided to buy any and all bread that caught our eyes. The lady saw how curious we were and opened and cut a few slices of the strawberry milk cream loaf. My children loved it. We bought about 11 or so different loaves or buns and we were so happy we did. Everything was fresh, soft, chewy and delicately flavorful. Singaporean chain that's spread to the corners of Walnut! I don't usually eat bread but I would for Duke's. I'm in bread heaven, the matcha bread is seriously so soft and size of 3 pastries. Garlic bread is also great. My aunt likes their goji and wolf berry bread, fancy. I swear it's like the bread has experienced fabric softener. That said, there's no nondairy options at all, I'd suggest having at least one or two. Thanks! read more
