From the flowers to the frozen food, to seasoning, to cheese, all the way to the employees in their floral shirts - it's usually a good time. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. You walk into this store and you instantly get a feeling that it is quite modernized. Like some of the older stores, they have many signs telling you which aisle to go down for particular things such as spices, water or whatever. There also are additional signs which show you where various food or other items in the interior of the aisle. For example on the frozen food aisle there are signs carefully indicating pizza, snacks, meals or whatever. The staff appear more friendly, helpful and perhaps more motivated. A number of cashiers such that you only are number 2 or 3 in a line, where you are efficiently handled. Food Lion can survive with this store as an example, with a number of items plainly marked as being at a reduced sales price. The location right on Savannah Highway and along the side road to Costco might be the reason.

I first…read morestarted coming here in 2025 mainly for the produce section and to escape the "egg price war" I was running into at other supermarkets. Over time, we began bringing home more and more of our groceries from here. At first, we were a little apprehensive since some products are sourced internationally and the flavors can differ slightly from what we were used to. However, we quickly grew to appreciate the quality and unique taste of many of the items. The produce is consistently the freshest in Goose Creek, and the organic meats are excellent. We especially enjoy the eggs, milk, butter, coffee creamers, gourmet cookies, and sliced cakes. The savings have been significant for our household. We used to spend around $800 a month on groceries for the 2 of us... and now we average between $350-$400 -- without sacrificing quality. The employees are polite, efficient, and almost always smiling. Sundays after church can feel a bit chaotic, but for the most part, the store is orderly and clean. The only consistently busy area is the seasonal aisle (Aisle 3 -- the famous "Aldi Finds" section), where everyone is searching for special deals. It looks like a tornado went through it. Lol. There were a few frozen meals we tried that didn't quite match the flavor of their American counterparts, but overall the quality of ingredients feels cleaner and less processed. The parking lot is usually full -- a testament to how popular this location is. It's well-lit, conveniently located off St. James Avenue and just a few blocks from Highway 52, and always buzzing with people coming and going. Overall, Aldi has become our go-to grocery store.
