Server came with menus and had my daughters high chair set up upon arrival at the table along with a kids menu and crayons. I think they have an updated kids menu and it's pretty large. My daughter ordered the organic chicken with French fries. She enjoyed it. It came with apple juice and ice cream. She was thrilled to have the ice cream at the end. My grandmother and I ordered the grilled jumbo shrimp. Was delicious! I loved the spinach and the perfectly crispy potatoes. My grandmother loved hers as well. My grandfather and father ordered the scallops. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meal and where so happy to have 8+ scallops. They felt it was a good portion. My mom ordered an eggplant pasta that she really enjoyed. My husband ordered the veal parmesan. It came with pasta on the side. He ate everything and loved it, but was full. All of us were extremely happy with all of the food that we ordered, props to the kitchen. I ordered a bowl of tomato orzo soup and it was funny because maybe, and this is not an exaggeration, there were three or four orzo in the entire bowl. No problem I used a little of the stale bread and it was delicious. Now the bad part. Our waiter was probably the worst server any of us have had in many years. This guy wanted to be anywhere else but at our table. We did eat the first bread basket and had to ask him four times for a second basket, which came out so late that it was a waste. Regarding that second bread basket, everything in it was fresh. There was one guy walking around who looked like a manager and looked like he just finished a round at Cherry Valley. Maybe he was a manager, but he never came over to our table either because had he I would have informed him. He just walked into the dining room every 16 minutes to give the managerial look and go back to doing Lord knows what. Anyway, another good restaurant where the back of the house is outstanding and the front of the house needs to get their act together. The food felt thoughtful and well prepared without being overly complicated. The atmosphere is beautiful. This is because the food was overpriced for the quality of dishes served. The bread was room temperature and was obviously purchased from a bakery. I was expecting warm bread, recently baked in an oven--the kind that would instantaneously melt butter smeared with a knife. I had the fried calamari appetizer. The calamari was somewhat rubbery, and it was coated in a tad too much flour. I prefer mine flash fried in a dusting of flour. The calamari did not taste fresh caught, either, and It was served with a side of garlic aioli. My preference is for a side of marinara sauce, which pairs perfectly with calamari. I had the Lobster Il Toscano, which cost $85. It was lobster meat from two, one pound lobsters sautéed out of their shells. The lobster was between firm and mushy. It did not taste fresh caught, like what I get in the summertime for a similar price while dining in any of the seaside restaurants in the Hamptons or Montauk. I also ordered the New Old Fashioned, whose main ingredients are Maker's Mark and Vermouth. I did not like it because I do not like Vermouth. I overlooked that it had Vermouth in it when I was looking at the cocktail menu. My dinner cost me $132 because they put a mandatory $20 mandatory tip on the check. The bill was originally $112. CAVEAT EMPTOR: There is a sign saying that they want CASH TIPS! There is free parking in the lot across the street once the ticket is validated in the restaurant. The restaurant is in a Tudor-style dwelling, and it is big enough for celebrations and events.
