This place is a joke. Do not use this place. They don't enough carts for four floors. They have 3 carts and they are always being used. We have come on different dates and times and they never have enough carts, you have hound then for it We asked th employee and she said they don't want to buy anymore because they are expensive. Even though we are paying an arm and a leg for the unit. Also they have only one person working at a time, this just just a cluster mess. The manager should be fired and new carts!!!!!!! read more

CAUTION: Anyone with a storage unit has access to all corridors once they use their security code to get through the first gate. They can access your storage unit and cut off your lock or call a locksmith to cut off your lock, with no check that the unit they are accessing belongs to them. I went to my storage unit this weekend only to find a new lock on my unit. I got the onsite employee to come check things out with me, she said I can call my own locksmith or she can call a locksmith which can take up to five days to come onsite. I called a locksmith, they got the new lock off my unit and I discovered someone had stolen all of my belongings and dumped my unit with junk. So I ask the employee "don't you need the locksmith to come to the office with me to confirm with them my identity and the unit assigned to me?"; she replied "no, it's your responsibility to show them your unit". I explained to her that means I literally could call a locksmith, get them through the security gate, then take them to any storage unit of my choosing and have them cut off the lock. The employee looked at me with a deer-in-the-headlight look, as if no one ever thought of this security risk in their process with a renter calling a locksmith. At no point did anyone from Public Storage apologize or even empathize with my situation. So bikes are gone, furniture I've been collecting for a future Palm Springs house, seasonal clothes, collectibles, and holiday decorations...all gone, with no expression of shock or empathy from the onsite employees. I will reiterate my caution - anyone who is a renter can call a locksmith and have them cut off the lock to your storage unit and they can take all of your belongings because there is no verification conducted by the onsite employees. read more

Public Storage moves their Regional Managers around like Popes for a reason. I highly suggest that whatever you hope to keep you sell it, give it away, or figure out whatever you can down to dealing with the devil you know vs trapping yourself with a storage unit. Record all the transactions and more you have with each employee by all means necessary. Free tip alert, learned this by human error. Hope it helps: if you do have a unit and you want out. 1. Plan & Pay- Pay your bill in full and get your belongings and personal property same day. 2. Make a minor mistake and...leave the Unit locked but Empty. 3. Close out your unit.....You may have a different outcome than I but hey, let's see. If you get push back and they send you a Lien Notice then boom! You may get a bill but they just got hot air to sell to a pack of greedy ass hats who are complicity to the shits and all it cost them was the time to cut the lock. Well, and a few employees (Managers are still employees, no worker owns a thing but the power to do the right thing). got ask yourself how hard up one is for money to sell off walls and locks with fine print attached to the agreement they sell you. Do not rent a unit from Public Storage. Mike Mulvey, District Manager, has been perfectly useless and ineffective. The past several months have been one of the most frustratingly disappointing interactions that I've ever had with a business. At the beginning of 2023 a block of units were broken into. The intruders proceeded to break through the sheetrock between units and get into every unit. Thankfully nothing was taken or damaged in my unit. The same cannot be said for other units. I've confirmed with other storage unit tenants they suffered major loss through theft. Public Storage didn't bother to make me aware of the intrusion. I had to discover it on my own. Once I made the discovery, I made the office aware and they assured me that they would get the walls fixed. A month passes. Finally the walls between storage unit spaces are fixed. The issue is this: the crew that made the repairs ransacked the unit. They left it in substantially worse condition than the intruders had! It then takes about another month to finally get Mike Mulvey, District Manager, to meet me at the unit to review the disarray, damage, and come up with a game plan to move forward. This is after he stood me up for one of our agreed upon meetings. We meet and he tells me that I will need to file an insurance claim. I ask him if the insurance company will think it's odd that his vendor was the one that caused the damage that the claim is being filed for. He tells me that I should tell the insurance company that the intruders caused the damage. I informed him that I would not be lying to the insurance company and/or be committing insurance fraud to protect him or his vendors. We agree that he will have items that I want kept moved to a smaller unit at Public Storage's cost. Then I'll have the rest of the items picked up by a consignment shop. Another month goes by. Starting to see a pattern here? I'm then informed by Mike Mulvey, District Manager, that they will not be paying to have any items moved. At this point I've already secured the smaller unit to move the items I'm keeping into. Mike and his supervisor's solution is to give a credit of one month's rent for the smaller unit. This basically makes it a wash. The ineptitude, feet dragging, empty promises, and unprofessionalism are absolutely mind boggling. So here we are, months into this mess. No good solution from Mike. Wasted months. Countless time spent calling and leaving voicemails to get calls back on holidays, weekend mornings, odd times in his hopes that I wouldn't answer the phone, all to find out that Mike Mulvey and Public Storage have basically decided: we will just continue to take your rent payments and you're flat out of luck getting any sympathy or help from us. So I reiterate here how I started this review: Do not rent a unit from Public Storage. Mike Mulvey, District Manager, has been perfectly useless and ineffective. Horrible place! I've had a unit here for 4 years. My price was originally $200 a month, it's jumped up to $530 a month. When I checked on my unit, there was a bad water leak through the ceiling and it destroyed several boxes of items that were irreplaceable (family photos, paintings, electronics, etc). Upon moving into a new storage unit at the same location, there are no employees are to be found for hours! No single employee on the premises whatsoever!!!! I only have today to move into a new unit and there are no employees here to let me into my unit that I already paid for! Tried calling customer service several times, but they just hang up or transfer me to someone else where I have to repeat all the same information. This is ridiculous. DON'T COME HERE! read more

Went with a friend of mine to move her things into a storage unit. Got the cheapest one available seeing how she didn't need much space. But it took us 30min to be seen. There was no one at the front desk. We called but of course the phone is at THE FRONT DESK. So that didn't help. We thought, maybe it's a one time thing until we came back to bring more items and had to wait again for someone to help us. Tip: hire a 2nd person to cover the desk when the 1st person needs to show someone around or use the bathroom. She pays $180 a month for a box that can barley fit 3 grown men. These people are monstrous. The front desk people are lovely - IF you can get them on the phone, however! - but the people who rent out the spaces are horrible.The rent increases are sudden and fast so beware. They get you in on a low price for the first month but the price keeps going up and very suddenly. They give you a DAY to change spaces if you move elsewhere in the building - and difficult If you have a medical issue and need extra time - or are even asking for 30 days beyond the 30 days they give you to move. They don't care - they have no mercy and there is no real person to talk to. And the facility is not safe. A friend of mine - a filmmaker whose name you would all recognize - had a super-16mm camera stolen, among other things. So, in all, no safety and ultimately NO VALUE. read more

rented a 5x5. you sign the contract saying it's approximate and you take it as is. why do I know that? because it was repeated said to me as I opened my maybe 5x3 so a facility that has hundreds of spaces, a thorough floor plan uses deceptiv language on purpose and buries the asterisk in the lengthy contracts but makes sure the front desk is well versed in that line. read more

This store is not very convenient! impossible to drive a truck inside, low ceilings. the elevator closes the doors very quickly, every time you need to dial a code to use the elevator. elevator with low ceilings, sofas get out with difficulty. the doors to the cells are very narrow and low! I would like to rate 1 out of 5, but there are shared toilets, which is great! therefore I give 2 out of 5 stars! but, unfortunately, I cannot advise! I am disappointed! photo attached to the review! People at the office are simply unhelpful. It was my first time moving in. No one told me that I have to be out of the building at 6pm. Instead of that I got kicked out at 6 and they didn't allow me to finish loading the items. I needed to waist my time and money to come and do it the next day. Not even talking about the fact that I am a woman and I had a crew to help me a night before, but not today. The guy who kicked me out was rude. I could not be happier with the customer service provided by Brandi and Nicole. This storage facility is clean, and my first impression, very well run. I reserved my space on their website and received a phone call from Brandi right away. She helped make my decision much easier. Nicole showed me the units and how to get in and out. All in all, very personable and friendly employees. When you are planning to visit a business often, this is something that makes a difference. The employees have been knowledgeable and accommodating. Security is important to me, and I felt extremely safe at this facility. I highly recommend. read more

In the late 1980s, I moved and had to rent a storage unit for what wouldn't fit into my new home. I used a Public Storage unit in El Segundo and they were great. Very secure. Had to provide photo ID in order to rent the unit. Now someone has used my name and mailing address to rent a unit at this place, apparently without having to provide any proof of their identity. They sent the overdue bill to collections. I called their office and they verified on the phone that I wasn't the one who rented the unit. I am still getting collection calls. I called their corporate office and they still haven't returned my calls. Don't go anywhere near this place. read more

Me and my manager went to go check out our new storage location unsure what to do or how to even get in the gate. Thankfully, there was a lovely employee, Bryan, who was at the desk and was sooo helpful! I felt like I was asking so many questions but he smiled through it all and had an answer for all of them! Listen.... Moving sucks and putting some or any of your stuff in storage sucks even more. I hate moving. I hate renting storage units. It's not an enjoyable way to spend my time. That being said, Katie and the rest of the team at this public storage were absolutely awesome. Katie actually showed me the unit ( never had that happen before) and gave me options for a larger unit if needed (excellent attempt at an upsell -- listen up corporate!) also did a very good job recommending all the extras like packing tape, boxes, etc etc. The whole staff also does an excellent job explaining the lease terms, future payment dates, etc. I hope I never need another storage unit after this but if I do, I'm going straight to 6801 Santa Monica read more

Very irritated with this place. Renting here was fine But on the day of my move out the elevator near my unit was broken. This ended up costing me approx. $200 extra on my move because of how long it took for my movers to carry everything to the next elevator that was now being shared with multiple sections of the property. I was told upon arrival that I needed to vacate the unit by 10:30am to not be charged for the entire month of August. My unit was vacated by 10:26am. I was then told I needed to have my truck entire loaded and off the property by 11:00am to not be charged for the entire month of august, my movers were able to be off the property by 11:03am and apparently there is not a 3 minute grace period on being charged for an entire month of an empty unit when the facility is not working properly. Since then I have made a call to the supervisor everyday for a week and left detailed voicemails With my call back number and I have not received a call back or any resolution on the issue. No one is able to do anything about the issue through customer service other than send an email to someone else that I receive no receipt of. read more

I was so saddened when my storage unit went up $200 a month after I had only had it for less than 6 months. I have been a public storage customer for over 25 years in assorted locations. Usually the rent goes up $50 every 6 months which I always thought was high. At first I thought it was a mistake but now 2 months later after appealing to several mangers the rise is true, and they are telling me it is under the going rate. So sad. read more

I had a terrible experience with this Public Storage facility. On a recent Friday I came to the facility minutes after 6:00am (they open at 6:00am). I drove into the facility and used the elevator to get to the floor where our unit was. After walking across the hallway, I found that somebody broke into our unit. There were holes in the door and the wall adjacent to the lock, and the look was pried open. All our stuff was on the hallway. I called the police at 6:05am. The police found the burglar's tools and suggested that I must have surprised him. It took the facility manager until 9:30 to show up, although I called the alarm company and reported the break-in. He told me that everything was okay when they closed the facility on Thursday night (6:00pm). Looking at the access protocol he said that nobody had access to the floor before me. Still the burglar had ample time to go through every box in our unit. The value of the stolen items was about $5000. There are 2 possible explanations: -They facility manager didn't do a walk-through before closing and the break-in happened on Thursday giving the burglar enough time. -There are people overnight in this facility And in fact, I saw cars parked in the facility in the morning at my arrival. I also thought that somebody was on my floor. Management said that some employees and their friends are parking their cars in the facility (which apparently is not a safety issue). The worst at the end: I still had to pay for a full month although I moved my stuff out at the same day. Regional management said that they are not responsible for burglary and stolen items, therefore I would have to pay for the month. read more

Numerous issues: 1. GOTCHA cost of mandatory insurance that they don't mention anywhere until you're right about to sign at the front desk. The cheapest option is an additional $9/month. 2. GOTCHA cost of mandatory key lock (19 bucks) -- I brought a combo lock but they wouldn't let me use that. 3. Relatively non-helpful staff. 4. Do not have ability to email receipts and paperwork, instead they inundate you with multiple sheets of paper. It is the year 2012 people, get with the times. Will not use Public Storage again. Would definitely not recommend this place. There are numerous other options in LA and in this area, would have chosen one of them in retrospect. read more

Unfortunately I'm out of town for quite a while and cannot move my household's worth of items, so am stuck with this company - but I give PUBLIC STORAGE as a whole a super THUMBS DOWN. The location is ok, my unit is ok, the staff are fine, but what I just experienced, I'd like to at least warn others: After only 5 months, and without receiving notice my rent was increased by almost 25%! I have a large unit, so this is significant. I tried to talk to the location staff, who said they couldn't do anything about it. They referred me to corporate who not only said the same thing, defended the rent increase. Apparently it's in the "fine print" that an increase at their discretion can happen anytime, even thoughI started the unit on a special rate that was offered on the website. If given a choice, in the future, I would never use PUBLIC STORAGE again. And would recommend if you can find another place, with hopefully better customer service and policies, do as well. read more

Horrible. Total mess with issuing bills. Total mess with customer service. When I asked to talk to supervisor, customer service was connecting me forever but never got through. The personnel on the spot knows nothing and refers everything to mysterious Michael Mulvey and gives his cellular. The cellular of this gentleman is always on the voicemail and he never calls back. The field personnel explains that Mr. Mulvey is very busy man, because he supervises two (!) locations. I still do not quite get how such intense supervision shall prohibit him from answering the cell phone. He is probably very busy with selling the things through the public auctions to his friends. At my unit today going through some boxes. Some bird named Megan came by and said she need to have a space clear so that other customers could get through. WTF. First of all people who up to that area go around. Actually I have only seen one customer since I rented there. So in order to escalate the problem she storm's around to the other end of the aisle. Then scurried back around to where I was and took a picture. Of course if my face or anything that would identify me is used I will sue her and public storage. Moving and packing are never fun, but the staff here were professional and friendly and made a stressful time, much more bearable. They gave me the internet rate which was cheaper. I only had a combination lock which they don't allow because of security, so I bought a lock from them. If I could have been bothered I could have gone to a hardware store and got cheaper, but I was paying for the convenience. There was no problem returning unused packing materials and getting a refund for them. Joseph and Tarcilla were particularly helpful. recommended. read more
