This storage place is a dump. I went there because it was the cheapest and they jacked the price. The gate was broke and my rental truck was stuck inside, and they lied about the gate being broke. They lied to not admit any fault and blame me for the ridiculous inconvenience and expense of the rental truck being stuck over night. Exceptional Customer Service was provided by Ashley at the Public Storage on Lansdowne Ave, in Upper Darby Pa on Tuesday March 4, 2025. On Tuesday, Ashley had several angry clientele who were upset that "the rental fees had recently increased" and who were experiencing lock issues, with locks that wouldn't open along with computer issues. Though Ashley was continually surrounded by two or more clients who were upset she stayed friendly, positive and helpful whole taking time to listen and find resolutions for each the clients complaints- She took the time to help everyone and retained her composure with some very angry people and helped to resolve their issues. I agreed to a set rate for one year, which was one of the deciding factors on renting this unit. After 9 months, my rate went up, and this is why I am moving out! Most of the times that I went to my storage unit, their restroom was out of toilet paper. One time, I had to supply my own. Once upon a time, storage facilities were accessible 24/7. I cannot access my unit from 9:00 pm - 6:00 am. read more

Have used this unit for a couple of years; managed through it with the consistent price increases, reduction in open hours of operation and a broken exit gate multiple times. Additionally, half the time I go there, the exit gate is just left open for anyone to walk in. I was finally able to move out and be rid of dealing with Public Storage ever again. Pretty much non-existent customer service. When I called multiple times to find out information on fixing the stuck-open exit door, the manager at the time was extremely defensive and hung up on me, taking no accountability or responsibility with getting the gate fixed correctly and quickly. You would expect them to make fixing the gate a priority since it's all about SECURITY OF THE UNITS. They took months to finish fixing the gate the first time, then it broke again and it took them another month to fix it once again after that. They changed the open hours without any notice or customer consideration, closing at 6pm instead of 6:30pm which makes a significant difference when you want to go there after work. The cost increases per month over the years have also been very high and excessive. Just moved my stuff out the other day. Found DRIPPING and CEILING LEAKS on my belongings and furniture. Public Storage RUINED family heirloom furniture as well as a chair and multiple other possessions because they never fixed a ceiling leak. Public Storage Management of this facility is NEGLIGENT, lacking accountability or any acknowledgement for maintaining their facility and fixing facility issues. THEY FIXED NOTHING AND TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING. COMPLETE LACK OF MANAGEMENT. PATHETIC! Glad to be gone! Choose another location if you have to use Public Storage or use another storage company entirely. I will never use Public Storage again. Horrible business model, no customer service. read more

First time user, check in process positive, but elevator closest to my unit has been broken for quite some time, wasn't informed about it at that time. There's no out of order sign on it either. I found out after I loaded boxes on it. Needless to say I was NOT happy. Later when I mentioned it to my nephew who has a unit close to mine, he said it has been out for a while. Extremely inconvenient. This needs to be repaired, ASAP. I do believe the money we pay should ensure convenience of an elevator closer than the other end of the building. Get it together people. Until this is fixed, there will be no recommendation for this. Today, 4/22/18, went back to put more in storage.... If anyone in the Philadelphia area is looking for a storage space, I do Not recommend the Public Storage at 8401 Lansdowne Ave in Upper Darby. Not only does the elevator not work (and hasn't for a while). I was not informed that it didn't work when I rented the unit and the broken elevator is the closest to my unit. Today we saw human between units 724 and 725. . Public Storage needs to address these issues. Not happy read more

The people that work at this location are great this is directed at the corporate AHole douche bags that come up with their "policies". Charged me for a whole months rent even after I moved out! Beware they have a very stupid company wide policy, not just in Philadelphia. I moved out on 12/2 and they charged me for the whole month! All they say is "That's our policy". Yeah but that doesn't make it right! Your charging people for what they haven't used. If they were a decent company then their policies would reflect the ethical treatment of their customers. Treating people like crap and squeezing as much money out of them with zero regard for fairness or customer satisfaction is not a viable long term strategy. I will NEVER use this company in the future and will go out of my way to influence everyone else not to. Now was that worth an extra months rent? Being greedy and unethical and creating an army of unhappy customers is a sure way to lose in the long term. read more

Online check-in was great! Fast and convenient! I picked the unit I wanted and got a text that it was ready within 15-20 minutes. Might've been faster than that! I downloaded Public Storage's app for easy access to the gates. You don't have to get out of your car. Just hit open in the app. The unit was clean and my lock was already in there ready to be used. My unit is on the second floor, and pretty close to an elevator which looks to be clean and well maintained. It always has a cart in it too. I've read the other reviews and hopefully they are just isolated cases. It's only been a week, but so far so good. I'll update my review if anything changes. read more

Mold in units on first floor, Staff is "out to lunch" from open to close. Have been trying to cancel account and get a refund but they continue to charge my account and refuse to return a call or pick up the phone. Find any where else to store your belongings. read more

This place is a joke. They don't work with you. You pay your bill and told its not paid, add fees etc. My daughter needs her breathing machines for health reasons and bc my bill was late refused to let us into the unit. We didn't get the first month for $1.00 asked repeatedly to have insurance removed and it hasn't. This is the WORST PLACEA IVE EVER USED AND WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. Here we are 2 months later balance is completely paid but bc we we still can't access the unit they wont allow us to use the credit on the account to get a lock told me it would go towards rent WHICH IS ALREADY PAID UNTIL FEBRUARY. My daughter can die without her machines but they don't care just had it with this place. The amount of fees they add for missing is payment is astronomical. I will be reporting them to everyone I know. How they can't walk us to the unit to grab her medical devices is beyond me. This is the 2nd lock we have had to buy and unfortunately bc my daughter having health issues I am not made of money. They don't even deserve 1 star. Tried getting my stuff out in December but was quarantined bc of covid and they made me pay a whole month instead of prorating me 3 days. The amount of the unit goes up every 2 months. They don't send accurate receipts. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Right Now I am not happy!!! My furniture has been ruined by water and the property manger can't seem to figure the source of the water and does not show any interest in finding out. My insurance company has been calling them now for over a week and gets the voice mail every time call her directly!! The Property manager pretty much told me that she does not like to deal with insurance companies. Hmm, Let's see...Doesn't deal with insurance companies, doesn't care about personal property damage, doesn't answer phones.......some property manager she is. More like a mere gate keeper! All I ask is for her to make an honest effort to find out/guesstimate the source of the water and then answer the phone to explain her findings to my insurance company.....that simple! Instead, My family and I are sitting on beach chairs and laying on blow-up mattress at my new home.....ridiculous!
