My husband and I have had to use self-storage places numerous times over the years, and Compass on Belmont Avenue has been absolutely the best. The staff is friendly and competent, with great senses of humor as they deal with day-to-day details (not to mention rude customers). They were up-front and honest about costs, and good at advising which unit would fit our needs. There are all sorts of items that make move-in and move-out easy, such as dolleys, push brooms and dustbins. It is also conveniently located for an urban setting. We had originally thought that we would be renting a unit for only a couple of months, but due to construction delays at the building we were moving into, we wound up renting for over a year. In all that time, never once did we see a cockroach, a rodent or a moth (can't say that for other self-storage facilities we've used)! The hallways are well-lit and the security is good; I felt safe entering the space alone. We finally moved the last of our stuff out this afternoon. It seems odd to say, but the past year proved to be such a good experience that I will actually miss the place. read more

We used the Limerick location for a while. The rent for storage seems to go up every 3 months. Since they took over this location from MetroStorage they have increased the rent 3 times. We are moving to another local storage company. read more

BEWARE!!!! this facility has been nothing but a nightmare. Forst my unit was robbed. there was an ongoing problem and they didn't even have cameras all around the facility. they swore up and down they fixed the problem so I stayed. 6 months later I went to my unit and there were HUNDREDS of mouse droppings! the whole unit was covered and contaminated. They are NEGLIGENT and don't take accountability for their lack of responsibility to offer a protected space. insurance is a joke there too finding ways to pay as luttle as possible. f831 West Allegheny ave, the front loading bin door is broke and while the other door up front works but the staff has her car parked there blocking the exit, so all the paying storage bin customers have to be inconvenienced by having to come through the back, go up one floor to the office before you can go to your bin. There is nothing convenience about this place. When using one of their transportation carts which the staff says is an courtesy, you have to leave your drivers license as collateral which is no problem but once when I returned their cart and they were unable to locate my license. I had to return to work , so I had to make the decision to leave my drivers license and come back the next day or be late returning to work which I still was. their attitude was like it my fault that they didn't have my drivers license . The worst of the staff members told me to locate the staff member who took my license to another floor. Now I was suppose to search around the building looking for my license while all the time it should have been at the office desk as their rules state. it is poorly run and so unorganized, never a smooth transaction. When you contact the corporate office who offer no solution but just make more excuses or just say "sorry". the entire organization is SORRY. you get what you pay for. Reserved a UHaul truck at this location. When I went to pick it up no one was there! There were at least 9 people outside waiting. One person told me that the person who was in charge that day went on break over 20 minutes ago. I waited at least 15 minutes and they did not return. I had to call several other UHauls and drive to the other side of the city to pick up a truck. Wasted a lot of time with them. Furthermore it's very unprofessional to leave your business unattended with no notification of when you will return. I tried to contact to their corporate office but you can only do so via a contact form on their website. I will be contacting their corporate office as well to inform them of my disappointment. I would never recommend this location to anyone at all. Extremely poor customer service. read more

I would have given ZERO stars...but no choice. The customer service representative that scheduled the reservation and looky at the space was very nice. However, I never received the confirmation email and could not reach anyone on the phone the morning of my appointment to look at the spaces. Upon arrival a young lady was entering the facility smoking a cigarette. I attempted to ask if they were open since no one was answering the phone. Initially she ignored me then nodded and rolled her eyes. When I entered, shockingly the young lady was an employee. She was not wearing a mask and hissed and rolled her eyes again when I told the "manager" Brad/ly that I rather just see the space and not remain in the office area with a maskless employee. Brad/ly made excuses about why she did not have a mask. When we rentered the office area she had a mask on but then pulled it down and rolled her eyes stating COVID was over. I immediately left rather than deal with the ignorance about COVID. I made a call to customer service to no avail!! Stay away if you care anything about safety from COVID!! read more

VERY disappointing. The $49 web special was not available when I arrived. Communication issue between this person and that person. The first month free turned into registration charges that were close to the $49. Monthly cost will be almost double what I was told online and on phone. The facility is clean and seems to be well maintained. Reality is I'm not a fan of bait and switch. May have to shorten the storage time with Compass. read more

Unprofessional and dishonest. I was shown a unit that had mud, wood and debris over the top of unit. The agent named Kim saw the disgust on my face and asked why. I pointed to the mud, old wood and debris. She replied by asking me if it was enough space. I said yes. We went back to the office where I stated I wanted a unit the size of the one I was shown. When setting up the account, I said "You're not giving me the one you showed me are you" Kim said they would clean it up before I returned in 6 hours. I returned in 4 hours just to make a purchase of tape and asked if the unit had been cleaned. She said she forgot, but told me the unit would be cleaned in an hour. When I returned an hour later, the unit was not cleaned and once again Mrs Marshall assured me that it would be cleaned when I returned with the furniture. Of course the debris was still there, and Kim had gone for the day. I waited a week and called and spoke to a Manager. He told me that the unit would be cleaned. Of course I showed up a week later and the unit still had the same mud, wood and debris. That's four lies. Because I'm storing stuff for an elderly parent and I don't live near the Belmont Avenue location, I told them it would be more efficient if I could pay online. I gave them my email, but when I went online to pay a message came up stating they don't have my email. The closest thing that theyve shown to professionalism is they smile, but they lie through that smile . Once they have your money, they could care less about your needs. Update: I was ending my lease of Unit. The Wood Mud Debris still hadn't been removed. I saw a Dolly that I could use to "wheel" my belongings to the truck. To assure that my unit will be closed, I walked into the office where I came across kim and a Mrs. Ward. I told them I had contacted the office two times by phone and by email to cancel, was told someone would call me back, and told them no one ever called me back to close my unit. They had no answers, but asked me if I was using the Dolly. I told them yes. Ward and Kim told me to bring it back to the office where I found it. I told them I didn't find it by the office but out by the storage units. They told me again to bring it back to office. Apparently Kim and Mrs. Ward didn't feel like doing their job and bringing the Dolly back to the office. They wanted me to take the long walk and bring it back. Instead, When done with the Dolly, I took it right back to the storage unit I found it. I will never use this place again. They lied to me, and were totally unprofessional. read more

My daughter rented an indoor space for her dorm moves, and we both ended up using the space for long-term storage. The price was very reasonable for the Philadelphia area, and the entire area was very clean and secure. It really is climate controlled, and was a welcome relief in extreme weather conditions. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and there are carts and other equipment available for use during their business hours. There is also a bathroom, in the indoor section, which was very helpful. We were both so impressed with this facility and the wonderful people who work there. Thank you! On probably one of the worst moving days ever, they were the sugar in my lemonade! After a long drive, arriving in Philly only to find out that the home we were supposed to be moving into wasn't ready, we were left with a rental truck of stuff and no where to put it. They actually answered the phone when we called (3 previous places didn't), were friendly and personable in responding to our questions, and helpful in finding us a solution. The facility is clean, units are clean, doors are secure, hours for access were good (they aren't 24 hrs but it's rare that anywhere in the city is). There are rental trucks available there too so it can be a starting or stop point for any move. They sell moving supplies if you should happen to need any of that also. If I ever need temporary storage again in Philly, they'll be my go to! read more

I've done storage plenty of times b/c I've been in the Army and moved my whole professional career. The facility is massive, 24 hour access, security cameras throughout, indoor storage, and a whole range of different sizes. After compass took over from Devon they went through a massive make over and huge upgrades. Moving in is easy b/c pretty much every unit has drive up access. No tight hallways and stairs, and the place is right off a main road. One of the worst things of other storage is that they are always hidden on back roads and driving a car around is tight and risking scratching something. No problem here with that. Plenty of space for even trucks to maneuver. Central location by the zoo makes it a good spot if your using it as storage for business equipment. read more
