Their team is friendly, careful, and fairly priced. They moved me out of my 1 bedroom apartment within a couple hours with no issues. They are cash only and price is dependent on how much stuff you have, oversized items, distance and what floor you are moving from and to. Next time I move, I'll be using Mambo again. read more

In my opinion, THE go-to option when it comes to getting a move done painlessly. It was my first time ever hiring movers and I did a good bit of research and calling around prior to deciding to go with Mambo. The process could not be easier. Call, agree on the date, go over some basic need to knows, and await their call the day of your move. That's it. I moved on a Wednesday morning. They arrived before 9am and I was SET UP in my apartment prior to 11:30am. It was honestly amazing. I was only moving a block away and I could tell they did everything they possibly could to ensure I stayed within the two hour minimum. The entire crew of three was so kind and helpful, and the entire experience cost me LESS than $400 without tip. In my opinion, a no brainer. I move again at the end of March (shudder) and will absolutely be using them again for my local move. Next time, I'll use boxes instead of moving totes, and ensure any larger pieces of furniture are already disassembled prior to them arriving (though they made short work of disassembling and reassembling my IKEA couch). I had a unique situation where I was buying furniture from someone moving-- we are talking LARGE, heavy, beautiful wooden mcm pieces. The seller said she would reach out to her movers to see if they'd deliver to two locations on the same move out day. They agreed for an extra fee! Had a great experience from "booking" to morning of to final assembly and payment! There were 3 people working in their team. All were friendly, communicative, and very polite/respectful. They took great care inside our home and I appreciate that they cleaned up all materials and debris after! During assembly they handled it with lightning speed and balanced my desires for furniture placement + their expertise for floor plan logistics. Before they left they even shared tips for best, safest planning to move these pieces in the future. Definitely considering using them for my next big move! read more

Took longer than time estimate Mambo Movers gave me, twice as long. Movers were very nice and professional. This was a load and unload job, not setting up of furniture It was what I stated it would be. Load and unload with travel distance less than 2 miles. How many items and boxes that were to be moved. Mambo movers review Used mambo movers this past weekend for a decent size move from Philly to Cherry Hill. I don't feel like typing a story so I'll just give the bullet points -start time was 8:30-9:30 they showed up at 10:15 and said they were late because they needed breakfast -when they got there head guy said "you're the one with the money right?" And I was like uhh yeah... very strange way to start interaction -they worked from 10:15-11:45 at our place in Philly and then said they needed to get lunch on the way didn't show up until 1:30 at new place 25 minutes away. We were told we would be paying for travel time which was fine but they charged us for the full hour of lunch -when tried to clarify moving time we were being charged for he accused me of haggling They also milked us for time and were just overall rude, I called Monday just letting them know about our experience they said they would call me back because charging for lunch wasn't their policy, it's Friday and they never called back. read more

I have use Mombo Movers 2 times. once from center city to Bala Cynwyd the second time one block away. The first mover was wonderful and three great guys did such a great job. So when I moved one block away from my current location I called Mombo Movers again and requested the same team. I would have even wanted to have them. when they came the second time one block I through they had breakfast at the local bar because you could smell the alcohol on them. Two of two guys were taking aspirin all day. finally I asked why that have such a headache and I was told there Christmas party was the night before. well they brought a truck that was two small so the whole job could not be done that day. A different team had to come the next day to finish the job plus charge me twice. They also brought a large truck the second day and if they brought that the first day the whole job could have been done. To add insult to it I was charged two times. The move from CC to Bala was less in price than the two moves one block away. After we where in the new place then I that my white living room sofa had grease all over the cushions. My silk chairs were filthy on the side. It was the worst nightmare I could've had and at my age I could hardly handle it. I have a very good friend that moved from Center City to Florida and she was going to use mambo movers and I what I ever use them again so she didn't use them and she used a different moving company. The only thing I can say is, I would have waited weeks to have the original team back that moved me from up to but I was told that they're never available. After speaking with the owner, he was gracious enough to give me a 10% discount on the second day move which if they would've brought that damn truck the first have had to pay for two days. They even charged me $180 just to drive here both days and since I Philly and I know where I was was no way they used $180 in plus they me gas so if you're looking to move think twice if you company. read more

I hired Mambo Movers a few weeks ago and Tim, Len and Justin did a fantastic job! They were incredibly fast and efficient, very friendly, and even very kind and considerate of my dog (who was a bit overwhelmed by the move). They moved everything faster than expected, and even gave me helpful advice on how to organize my furniture in the new space (which I needed)! I just used Mambo for my move from DC to Philly! I'll be honest, I was a little nervous about some of their practices, especially not taking credit or personal checks. Since I ultimately didn't know how much the move would cost because it was hourly, I just had to have enough on hand - but it all worked out in the end! Chatting with them on the phone beforehand and setting up the move was super easy. No deposit or anything, just set the date and that was it! I confirmed with them several times leading up to move day and the crew called me day of. The crew of 3 great guys arrived to my DC apartment and quickly got to work - it only took them an hour to load! I was meeting them up in Philly and thought surely I would beat them up there - I stayed behind for about a half hour taking care of some things and then hit the road - to my surprise, they beat me! They made amazing time up to Philly! And just as easily as they loaded, they unloaded in just 45 minutes! This whole process was so quick and painless! The biggest cost of the move was obviously the drive time since the load/unload time was so short! The crew was so great and I was impressed with how quick they were. This move was absolutely worth every penny, especially through the narrow streets of Manayunk, and I'd hire Mambo again in a heartbeat for any other move services (hopefully I won't be moving anytime soon!) After living in Philly for 16 years and hearing nothing but good about Mambo I finally had the opportunity to employ their services in April of this year. I moved from one apartment to another, a total of ten driven blocks distance. I moved from a studio loft apartment (smaller than a one bedroom) to a one bedroom. When I called to make the booking I was told it would take roughly 2-3 hours for a total of around $300-400 cost for three movers and the van. I described very accurately at that time that I had a small space with a lot of stuff probably 50 boxes of various sizes and ten furniture items, most of which were lightweight cheap shelves. To make a long story short, the crew showed up, took one look at my apartment and basically laid it out that this estimate wasn't even close to accurate. By the time it was over it took the better part of a day, and that was with me helping and moving lots of stuff myself. They didn't manage to even get 100% of my stuff in their van before it was full (about 90%,) so I had to solicit help from friends with cars to go back and get what was left behind. Several furniture items were damaged during the move. By the time it was done I owed over $800. They only accept cash payment (or money order which still makes no sense to me, like...how do you have a money order ready when you don't know how much you're going to owe?!) Then the real kicker was the guy in charge of my three-man-crew said he would fudge the numbers to make it look like it had taken less time than it did, since I literally could not afford to tip on top of an $800+ bill. That way they could keep the difference as a tip to split amongst the three of them. I didn't have the energy or bandwidth to argue so I just forked over the money. Basically I got lied to and scammed, and I'm still sore about it so here's this delayed review. read more

I've moved three times in Philadelphia, all moves within the city. Compared to other movers, they were much slower. Ended up costing more than $800 and taking almost 5 hours for a one bedroom to be moved into storage. Just not worth the price. I personally regret listening to the good reviews and going with Mambo. Also, I could overlook this if they were efficient and just got the job done but since they weren't it's worth mentioning - they were not that great to interact with, in general quite sassy and unpleasant. And whoever mans the phones needs an attitude check. It's extra frustrating because you have no choice but to deal with the phone guy - they don't provide email confirmation of moves, or do anything electronically, so you have to always call. It makes it much harder to catch mistakes (which happened - they ended up spelling my name and address completely wrong and couldn't find my move when I called to confirm that they were coming. Obviously not what you want to hear a week before moving). There seems to be a level of hubris involved at this company. Just not what one needs when doing something as unpredictable as moving. Stellar movers, Gentle Giant or Broad street movers are much easier to work with in my experience. read more

They only moved half of my belonging. I can admit that my bed had seen better days and they stated they couldn't take any risks. So they would only move the boxes. But they wouldn't move the television or any furniture. One of the movers rudely asked me I'd have cash like an hour before they were done, which was very rude. And they were rough with my belongings. Overall a horrible experience that also meant I now have to hire movers to move everything else. I understand if my stuff was not as clean as it should have been, but there is a way that you can still treat a person with common decency, which I can say didn't happen. read more

I have lived in Philly for 12+ years and used this company 3+ times for local moves, so it was a no brainer to hire them to load the truck for our long distance move to NOLA. I spoke to them twice in the week leading up to the move confirming details. Long story short, we got ditched this morning on moving day. I left 3 voicemails with no response, so we were left to load the truck for our long-distance move on our own, with my 65 year old father in law lifting extremely heavy furniture. This was a huge burden and disappointment that put a big strain on us, and wasn't at all part of the plan. All they were doing was loading our truck, not even taking it anywhere. If we were going to be continuing to live in Philly, I wouldn't be able to use them again in good conscience. Being ditched on moving day was not at all a curveball we expected. read more

On March 15th I used Mambo Movers. It was a stress free experience due to their expertise in handling my items. I had a substantial amount of large furniture especially heavy appliances and everything was handled with care! After moving these items from my house, which was less structurally challenging, then difficulty came at the new home with the twists, turns and terrain they had to navigate, but once again they handled EVERYTHING methodically and carefully. Moving is the worst but Mambo Movers made it SO much better. They were the nicest guys and SO efficient. They helped with anything we asked and were so patient. Never complained about the stairs, parking or the annoying elevator and helped calm me down when I got to my new building and realized 4 of the windows had fell out of the frames and shattered on the floor. They took great care of all of my stuff and were also SO well priced. Everyone else we reached out to was astronomically priced, but Mambo's pricing is super reasonable and I truly don't think we could have gotten better service anywhere else. Some of the drivers are really reckless (namely whoever was driving truck 201 at 1:35-1:40pm on July 9,2023 (also has 22s circled on the back). Decent, but issues. Overall, it SEEMS our stuff was moved carefully and well. So that is good. But there were a couple issues that took this from a 4-5 star yelp review to a 2. First, the movers arrived 45 minutes late and we were the first move of the day. This will start a pattern of zero urgency. Secondly, we were never told that there would potentially be a lunch break in the middle of our move. Half way through the movers told us they needed a lunch break and would be back in 30-60 minutes. It took them 80 minutes to get back... again, zero urgency. And that is sometimes fine but when you get paid by the time worked this is somewhat of a problem. Normally our moves have taken 4 hours in the past and this was a 945-415 all day extravaganza. If it was just those two things, okay, fine, I could over look. But what really set the need for a review was the rudeness of one of the movers. First, he complained our boxes were too heavy. My wife and I have moved 11 times in our adult lives and never once have movers complained boxes were too heavy. I am not a body builder and i was able to lift and carry 1 floor every single box we packed. I know not to make boxes too heavy: 1 - the box will break and 2 - the movers need to be able to lift. So that was something completely inappropriate to say. And the most egregious... as the movers were unloading the truck I was helping them for about 2 hours because they were so slow. That is important. And at the end I gave them a tip that I felt was fair and generous based on the job they did. The lead mover basically accosted me and said the tip I gave was a joke. I was so taken aback I was at a loss for words. It was unprofessional to say the least. Lastly - and this isn't a big deal overall but just adds to the situation and is not ideal: they only use phone and dont provide anything in writing. I think that makes it harder to track and keep tabs on things which I think allows for behavior like the above. We have used Gentle Giants movers in the past and they were much, much better. ChrisK,Mike R and Malcom moved us from our home of many decades into CityView condo on 7/7/22.Things could not have gone smoother.The guys were professional,careful ,pleasant and got us in within the timeframe allowed at CityView.Everyone ,including the office staff was kind and helpful.Our move was originally scheduled for May but our sellers had to change settlement so therefore all my previous planning was also changed! When moving gets tough within the Philadelphia proper, Mambo is the best name to call! But when my original plans of moving back to Philly from suburbia fell through, and I was ideally trying to move out 2-3 weeks later, I didn't think that even Mambo could deliver such a festivus miracle! That notion miraculously changed one morning when I caught a familiar glimpse of their rhino logo when I was on my way back to my old Narberth abode. And with a fast email response and a call to confirm my moving arrangement I was given the best last minute option that would have given me a way to move out without being set back by another 3 weeks+... A Sunday afternoon move with a time that was contingent on when the movers on duty were able to finish up their first job of the day! Between my first experience with Mambo, and this possible Hail Mary pass that potentially gave me the opportunity to move within 2 weeks of my setback on a summer weekend, and these guys have definitely proved what miracle workers they can be. But still the prospect of this Sunday afternoon move left me more than a little nervous. After all, if there first move set them back long enough they wouldn't have arrived until 4:30-5 pm, which would have set back all other moving plans that I had for the day(s) back significantly! But fast forward to the day of, and the call that I got to confirm that they'd be be arriving around 2:00-2:30 pm, and it looked like everything was coming up Milhouse! After a quick show of everything in the garage, everything was loaded up and we were meeting them in East Passyunk within 2-hour mark despite part of the avenue being blocked off by a mega festival. And as I watched our smallish hipster musician movers carry huge items of furniture and mattresses with ease, it confirmed that they were still skilled beyond mortal movers! Between their professionalism, reliability, strength, and skill; for movers in Philly Mambo is still the king! read more

This is a mixed review as the moving service (when they arrived) was top notch but the communication could have been improved upon. First of all, the movers were fantastic and exemplify everything you want in a mover. They are kind, polite, efficient and know what they're doing! Our move was particularly uncomplicated, as we moved vertically within the same building with minimal large appliances. That being said, Mambo Movers offered the cheapest and most competitive prices when I had obtained quotes from all of the available Yelp movers, and they were also the most recommended from my colleagues. Furthermore, their prices for additional boxes and packing materials was also very reasonable (albeit, we did not use their products). We had paid for the movers to come and pack and then move (2 days). Our only gripe was that the original packers were greatly delayed due to an unexpected moving incident and we had waited for an entire day without any updates until we called. It would have been nice for the company to offer compensation due to our delay, but we did a lot of packing ourselves during the day and ultimately saved us money by doing our packing, rather than paying them for extended time. At the end of the day, I would definitely hire them again, but would prefer closer updates if there are emergencies that alter the initial plan. read more

I've had really a hot and cold experience with the Mambo guys over the last year. Today's experience was a scorcher. I have raved positively to folks on Next Door, renters in my building and to others about the great job Mambo has done for us on two intercity moves and a day of packing. Their guys were meticulous with our stuff (with the exception on one guy named Bill who pretty much didn't work at all), and worked their butts off. I have usually corresponded with Mike at Mambo and he has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. My most recent experience in calling in today was with someone named Jay. He was extremely off putting and incredibly rude. I called to cancel a move and after about 10 seconds of silence on his part he explained they had a cancelation policy (which is the absolute first time I've ever heard of this in the year we've been working with Mambo). I explained that has never been stated to me. He said they would waive this in a very condescending way but I should be aware of it for the next time. To which I said, "yes of course". He literally screamed at me, "OK then!" and hung up on me. Nice huh. Probably not the guy you want as the face of your company. Moving is a hard business, and I believe Mambo has earned their 4.5 star rating. But they also have to be aware that a brand can quickly be diminished by a few bad characters. Bill and Jay are a liability to the hard work of the rest of the company. And the reason I would never consider using them again. read more

Pretty much the worst moving experience I have ever had. The company moved the time of our move from 8 am to noon a few days before. We were ok with this and didn't have any issues waiting. The movers didn't show up until 1:30 though. Because of the delay, the company offered us a 10% discount. Again, we would have been fine with this had things gone well once they showed up. Unfortunately, the team that came was unbelievably slow and difficult to work with. They whined basically the entire day. It took them 7 hours to move us out of a 1 bedroom apartment to a house 4 blocks away, somehow. They kept asking if they HAD to move different objects and even after we explained repeatedly that yes, we are moving, everything has to come, a bunch of stuff still got left behind. A number of things were also damaged during the move, though thankfully we had already moved everything that was really valuable or important by ourselves. We also had to take like 4 trips in our car. I have moved a lot on my own and don't mind carrying, but it seems crazy to me that we still had to work this hard when we were paying movers to do it. On the unloading end, everything got in the house but a bunch of stuff ended up on the wrong floor or in the wrong room, despite clear labels on everything. However, at the end of the day, I was still going to tip them, because it is like 100 degrees out and they did work very hard, if not especially competently. We decided to tip 10%, or the exact amount of the discount we were promised, and just spend the money we had planned to spend. However, the movers refused to honor the discount and then their lead guy threw an ABSOLUTE TEMPER TANTRUM and yelled at my husband for not tipping him - which, again, we did tip them, even though they honestly didn't really deserve it. At the end of the day, we got to our new place with most of our stuff. But honestly the attitude on these guys was just so unacceptable. I have never seen movers complain so much about having to move things! For a company that claims to be the best movers in Philly, they have honestly been the worst ones I have ever worked with. Cannot stress enough how amazing these guys were! We moved from a 3rd floor walkup apartment to a tiny trinity house on a pedestrian-only street in South Philly, IN THE RAIN, and our movers made it look like a piece of cake. They even managed to hoist our dresser through the deck on the third floor. They finished in way less time than we expected, and all the furniture came through without a scratch. We quoted a lot of different places in the area, and although Mambo's hourly rate is a touch more expensive than others, I received great reviews from friends who moved with them and was also encouraged by how quickly they pick up the phones (a rarity for the other local quotes I received that required an online form to get started and were condescending or slow to pick up the phone). They also adhered to COVID restrictions and all wore masks, which was important to us. Hopefully I won't have to move again for a while, but if I do, I'm definitely calling up Mambo again! read more

Our move was freaken stressful to say the least - our building's requirement to move out had our two previously scheduled movers cancel on us. Not kidding, at that point it was 3 days before the actual move and on top of that it's moving season in Philly. We were losing our minds and suddenly like a shiny light Mambo Movers appeared (aka the first to respond to my email out of 10 companies I desperately contacted), they were able to fit us in on an incredibly short notice! Their office was in constant communication with us, they answered all our questions and the day of the move : Matt, Josh and David arrived on time and ready to roll. They were gems, had a system down and started moving us with such efficiency! I did not know people could carry as much as they could! They did it as quickly as possible with care and we haven't noticed anything dinged or scratched. We're so pleased and happy with the crew and Mambo movers - I was stress free that day thanks to them. We have nothing but great things to say about Matt, Josh and David. They were pleasant, professional and all around great guys. So I really didn't want to write this review, but Recent trickle effects from my move on the first week of March have come to play and my frustration has reached its limits. At first everything was great. MM were recommended to me so I figured I'd give them a try. First issue that day, they were running very late, I ended up having to move anything I could fit in my own truck due to the fact that my new roommates had a sleep schedule and I needed to make up for lost time. And so I left just the furniture for the movers (should be easy right?) So after the fact that I had to put in my own work due to their tardiness. I finally got a last minute call that they were already at my house... I was driving from north philly to west philly back and forth with a friend and used both our cars to move all my shit and than had to go ALLLL the way back to meet the movers with barely a 15 minute heads up. Finally we get to my new home.. first issue, they couldn't fit my box spring up my stairs (which was odd and they refused to bend it for me so that it could fit. They told me that was an option in the past but they stopped doing that for customers.) and so I was stuck with no box spring to go on my bed frame and so I couldn't sleep in my bed that night. And had to throw out my box spring (which they also wouldn't bring to a dumpster for me)... So.. 2 days later I finally went and purchased a bed base at IKEA like they suggested to me. I came home to build it and me and my roomate noticed they didn't put my bed together correctly and it was shaky and wobbly. I called MAMBO to let them know and they gave me the run around and told me someone would call me the following day and come back. No one called me back. No one came to fix my bed. And that finally 3 weeks ago my bed frame officially broke in half. I don't know why I waited so long to write something, other than the fact I realized my bed is not fixable. Too heavy to carry down stairs. And I can't afford a new one let alone to hire people to assemble the bed, and even so, I have to get my current bed out of here which I can not do on my own for I have back problems (which I told the movers from the cut) I had a bad feeling when toward the end the were just rolling their eyes at me regarding asking about my options since they couldn't fit my box spring up the stairs. Definitely rude as hell. And I tried to sympathize... Granted I was the last ride of the night. They were late to get to me. And it started to down pour... but they should have said something if they weren't focused enough to deal with everything correctly. All that said the following is a picture of my broken bed... Last time I used OLD CITY MOVERS. THEY WERE AMAZING! USE THEM! I wanted to support another company. And well... there it is folks. So if you think of using these guys. Keep all this in mind. I know many people had great experiences with them. But I'll never use them again.. 2 stars are for... well they were fairly priced. And used 3 people. But I wish my experience was better.. or at least my bed wasn't broken.. Oh yeah. My bed is expensive af. DEFINITELY don't use if you have furniture you care about. Can't recommend highly enough. We used Mambo 3 times in 5 days--to move us from a storage unit and to pack and move us from our apartment to a new home. Three different three-person crews. Each was excellent. They are professional, respectful, courteous, experienced, capable, careful...just really, really good. Our jobs were completed in the estimated amount of time, less in the case of the 1st move from storage. The move turned out to be less expensive than even they estimated. Pricing is simple, clear, straightforward. I was able to total the cost of the move myself when it was over and I was right on the money. And they're an excellent value. We got 3 quotes for our move. Mambo was the least expensive. I chose them based on a referral from a real estate professional. I was a little nervous because they're kinda chill, casual, even in providing their estimate and booking the move. But don't be fooled by the informality. These folks know what they're doing and they do it well, at least they did in our case...3 times. read more
