Man With A Van has helped me with two moves, one in 2020 and another recently in March 2026. Both times, the movers who have shown up have been professional and done a great job. With my first move in 2020, there was a bit of a scheduling issue, causing the movers to arrive later than originally scheduled and with a van rather than a truck (I had been told that it would be a truck in order to fit all of my belongings into one trip). Therefore, it ended up taking two trips. However, the owner made things right by only charging me the original rate for one trip. Mistakes happen and I'm fine with it, as long as the company owns up to it and makes it right. And there were no similar issues with my second move in 2026. The guys had furniture wrap and blankets to protect my belongings. During both moves, I did not find anything that was damaged at all. What more can you ask for!? I highly recommend Man With a Van! In fact, I'm likely going to use them again soon to help with some items that I will need to move into storage. read more

The dispatcher Paul needs anger management lessons. My friend recently moved across town and ordered Man With A Van movers as they had good experiences with the company in the past. Man With A Van gave my friend two quotes: a cheaper quote for Two Guys with a Van and a more expensive quote for Three Guys with a Truck. My friend sent the more expensive rate for Three Guys with a Truck. But then this dispatcher tried the blame game of "You didn't specify Truck" when to our surprise only Two Guys and a Van showed up. Lemme ask you a question. If I offer you a hotdog for $3 and a burger for $4, and you hand me 4 dollars, wouldn't anyone with a working brainstem assume that meant YOU WANTED THE BURGER? But my friend was sweet and offered: "Maybe y'all can come back tomorrow with three guys and a truck, because it's really a three person job", to which the movers declined. After a quick call, the dispatcher said there'd be no additional charge for extra trips due to the smaller vehicle. What's more is that one of the two Movers had a bad back and couldn't take the stairs like the other dude. So at some points the job is only getting done by one dude (you could argue one-and-a-half dudes). If THREE guys should be able to make the move of loading and unloading in TWO hours, then HALF that much manpower means... you guessed it: it's gonna take at least twice as long! Not to mention they spent extra time stacking things like Jenga inside the van to make it all fit in one trip. Because the job (that my friend agreed to pay $500 for three guys and a truck) took so much longer with one and a half guys and a van, Paul upcharges an extra $300!! Again, my friend is nice, and they're trying to hash this out cause they didn't get what they paid for, regardless of it it took more time. (And again, of course less manpower means more time). But instead of having a conversation with my friend, Paul starts SCREAMING at them, cursing at them, saying "You're Full Of Sh*t!" and threatening legal action immediately! My friend is begging through tears that they want to make this right; begging him to STOP yelling and panicking them. The mover's felt so bad and embarrassed overhearing Paul act like a jack*ss on the phone that one even offered to pay the remainder, but my friend, still shook up and in tears, said that they wanted to make this right and moved what little money they have around to pay as much as they could. We're ALL struggling out here, and the movers def deserve to get paid. I'm sure the dude with the hurt back needs more money and easier hours, but the company is working him to the bone. But to have this dude Paul berate and coerce my friend, spitting venom over the phone? Shouting until my friend is begging in tears for him to stop? I'm never gonna forget that. And this company needs to make things right. The job took long because of Dispatch's mistakes. They sent 1.5 guys to do a 3 man job, without the agreed upon equipment no less. If you want a stress-free experience: steer clear. If you want some jerk from New York taking out his daddy issues on you: you've come to the right place. read more

I was given a time window of 8-9 a.m., but the crew didn't show up until 9:35 with no call or apology--and they reeked of pot when they arrived. I had made it clear during booking that we needed a *cargo van* because of the tight spaces at both locations and the small amount of stuff being moved. Instead, a giant truck showed up, which made things much harder to maneuver. The movers were unprofessional from start to finish, and the experience was disappointing overall. I rid not have time to load my car with items, that I had to go back 17 miles to get. They broke pole fan and a box of glassware. Almost every piece of furniture they moved for me was scratched or damaged. They caused several instances of property damage to my home in the moving process. They accused me of lying and were incredibly disrespectful when I reported my concerns. Would not give me their DOT number to file an insurance claim. Sprinter Van was way too small. They didn't figure that out till 3 hours in. Left me with heavy items I had identified during the quote m/planning stage. Broke a large poster and didn't tell me about frame damage. Unable to follow simple instructions to bring boxes to different rooms. One person did not speak any English, which normally would not be a problem, but they just said yes a lot pretending that they understood and brought everything to the wrong room. I contacted this company and while they did get back in a timely fashion, the customer service is terrible. They don't do same day moves, or two day Like advertise. They also don't give you any open availability to work with. They give you short one word answers when replying. Man with a Van delaying and dragging confirmation at non-peak rate for many days and then jacking up the quotes last minute so I switched to Moverama for my small move and i could not be more satisfied. this manager at Man with a Van called Jin was absolutely ridiculous. day 1, quote confirmed by multiple emails and calls, day 7 she got the wrong state and changed to wrong quotes, I called in to correct and finalize at non-peak rate, confirmed with her on the phone about their non peak rate with her responding saying $150 was agreed, but she refused to finalize and told me to wait, day 8, jacked up the price. then, she denied everything she said on the phone about "offering me the non-peak rate" despite she could jack it up, denied the non-peak price she said on day 7 while refusing to finalizing at the moment and told me to wait only to increase the price on day 8, denied everything written in the previous email with the non-peak quote stated....despite I kept on inquiring, calling back to check back, confirming again and again the non-peak rates, rushing her to finalize it when she refused to finalize it at the non-peak rate, told to wait for email, only to wait for her to jack up the price. she literally denied everything she said from day 1-day 7 despite she kept on dragging it, refusing to finalizing it for me at non peak price, send me back to wait, wasting my time, only to jack up the price on the last day. very dishonest company and in the process she literally blackmailed me making me think that there was something wrong with me that I refused to pay the peak rates when others would and that there was something wrong with me to be upset because she changed the price that she never "confirmed" anything...that even whatever BS she said on the phone about non-peak rate and or even the emails with the stated quotes don't count. they probably think they are the only company that does small moves with no 2-3hr minimum that I must go with them for my small move. well, I have to thank her a lot, because of her jacking up the price, I found a even better mover, Moverama, whom was willing to do it at a reasonable, competitive price. the owner was so nice, everything was discussable, I was respected as a customer, they were willing to accommodate my small move. they even told me to step aside during the move that they will handle everything for me as i paid them. awesome attitude. reasonable price. i would highly recommend Moverama over Man with a van for small moves despite i have been with Man with a van for 8 yrs. they will not be getting any of my business going forward. read more

Needed to move a 2 BR apt. to a basement one that was 3 miles away. They were responsive to my initial request and after sending an inventory list, offered a panel truck and 3 man crew. They arrived on time and the whole thing took 90min- was less than 500 when other companies quoted 750-1200. The oversized sofa didn't make it down but they made a valiant effort. I had a great experience with Man with a Van. I went with Man with a Van because I had a very short move (moving just a few blocks) and a lot of moving companies had 3 hour minimums, which I was almost sure I was not going to reach. It was easy to make a reservation online and the movers showed up almost exactly on time, even though I was likely their second move of the day (an afternoon move on the weekend). I thought I had a pretty good amount of stuff, but they moved all my boxes in one trip - in basically 5 minutes, half of the living room was empty. The movers also took care to wrap all of my furniture with blankets and stretch wrap, so there was no damage to anything during the move. The whole team was very respectful and efficient, and my whole move was done in less than two hours. The movers made sure to ask where everything should be placed in my new apartment, so I didn't have to drag items around after they had left. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I would definitely recommend working with them - they made what is usually a stressful experience almost entirely stress-free. read more

Efficient and well priced! Josh and his moving partner did a fantastic job. I was in shock when they called me at 8:55am and told me that they had arrived. This was literally the first time for me that movers had shown up on time. Knowing that Man With A Van doesn't have a minimum hour requirement like a lot of moving companies do, I was concerned they would intentionally drag out my job, given that I was moving out of a small one bedroom apartment. They had a very efficient, organized, and careful approach to loading and unloading the truck, and the amount of time it took was as expected. Unloading everything, they: left zero scuff marks on the walls of my new place, followed my labeling on which boxes and furniture went upstairs vs downstairs, and even put some thought into placing similar items together (ex. putting the clothing boxes in the same part of the bedroom). My move was significantly less stressful thanks to having reliable movers. Great rates and great service. read more

This is a terrible company. The movers showed up two hours late. This was after texting me to tell me they would be an hour and 22 minutes late. I called them when they were 1.5 hours late. They were lost. I'm not sure why. I even wrote in the instructions exactly how to get to my street. Then, the website says that they can disassemble and reassemble a Peloton treadmill. They cannot. Of course, I didn't know this until they showed up and looked at me confused. As I result, I have to stay in town later than I planned to wait for an appointment for Peloton to disassemble the tread, hire another moving company to move it, and then call Peloton again to come and reassemble it. You guessed it - I'm out more than $600 for this fiasco. If that isn't enough, I received an email from someone at the company telling me that they were going to charge me an extra $170 because the movers didn't charge me enough. This was after the movers said they were discounting me for all of the issues ($200 off). Well, the moving company just charged my credit card more money, which I didn't authorize. I am now disputing this unauthorized charge through my credit card company. I wouldn't use this unethical and highly unprofessional company if I were you. read more

I was really disappointed with my movers. They took five hours to move from my one bedroom apartment to another, granted they were third floor apartments but I had caught them taking long breaks several times. They also told me that they were unable to move liquids because it wasn't allowed in the van It seemed to me that they were dragging out the time since they knew this was an hourly paid service. They also broke my smart TV and refused to get me a new one as the insurance covers only 60 cents per pound. They also scratched up some of my furniture and my bed frame as well. The only reason am giving any stars is because they were very responsive and communicative. They refunded me $200 because of the scratched up furniture, tv, and the time it took for the move. Update: the owner had reached out to me because he felt bad about what had happened. He told me he would replace the tv and asked me to send him some tvs that were the same size and reasonably priced. I sent him a few and followed up several times with no response. The is my first one-star review. I hate to leave them, but I had a very frustrating experience and I don't want other people to experience it. I hired this company to pick up some furniture from my parents and bring it to my house. We selected a day, and they told me they had wide availability. I agreed, selected a 9am pick up time, and paid a deposit. My parents and I worked it out so that we can both be home for the pick up and delivery. The day before they contact me and said there was a mistake and that they couldn't pick up the item until 10am. I said no problem. My parents and I moved our schedule a bit but it wasn't a huge deal. That evening they contact me again and said that pick up time would be between 12 and 3. They explained that there was a mechanical issue. We didn't really have a choice, so agreed to that later timeframe. Then at 9 pm or so, I get a call from someone apologizing. They suggested that if it was huge inconvenience for me, they could send a crew down from NYC and make the original morning pick up. I didn't want to inconvenience a crew like that so I said forget it - let's just stick with 12-3. Then today - the day of the move - they didn't show up by 3. I contact management and they blame me for not asking the NYC crew to come down the night before. But they told me that someone should be at the pick up spot by 4. Then at 3:45 they told me that they couldnt make it to 4:30. I try calling to talk to people, but it's hard to get anyone to take my calls. Anyways, they're friendly but not very dependable. Like most people, we have a busy schedule and went to considerable lengths to be around for the delivery - but they just kept pushing things back and didn't seem very concerned about it. read more

The prices were the most reasonable I had seen and I really appreciated the fact that they did not have two-three hour minimums like most moving companies. My move only took two hours so I did not want a three hour minimum. The night before the move they called me to let me know they would have to change my 9am move to a time frame between 11-1pm as one of their movers had a personal emergency. When the movers showed up, they were outsourced movers not from Man with a Van. However, they did an awesome job!!! I had some communication issues with them due to their lack of common sense. While trying to resolve the issues, it often lead to being hung up on and being told that they would get back to me. After 6 hours past my moving time and many calls later, he told me they would be there late that night and never showed....leaving me with no option but to scramble to find a new mover a week later. Have never felt the need to leave a review before, but changed my mind for this one after attempting to come to a reasonable resolution with my experience using Man with a Van. Short version: Crew was scheduled for 12-2pm on a Saturday. Arrived at 5pm. Poorly handled the cargo and caused damage to the walls at the destination with a drawn out move. Repeated attempts to speak on the phone and via email to come to a resolution met with frustration and hostility. Card was charged anyway. Long version: Mistakes happen, jobs run late, crews get tired. I understand and was prepared to make sure I did everything on my end to make sure this process went as smoothly as possible: parking permit for a busy street on Saturday afternoon and reserved freight elevator for the destination. Due to the crew showing up at 5pm for a 12-2pm window, those efforts were meaningless and a lot of time was wasted looking for parking and taking multiple elevator trips. A crew of 3 guys showed up exhausted from their day. I know because they were frustrated and made it apparent to me immediately that it wasn't their fault that they were late and they were going from a job in Brooklyn to Jersey to Philly now before having to head back at the end of the night. I get it and that sucks. I offered water, helped move, whatever I could do. On a first glance assessment, one of them estimated a half hour for the first part of the job. I was in a studio apt with 15 boxes and a queen mattress along with some smaller furniture, nothing over 50lbs. They played tetris in their truck with no blankets or mats for the furniture and a complete disregard for boxes labeled fragile. Only one guy ever moved anything at a time. Another took a shit immediately upon arrival and I don't even want to think about how he cleaned up because there was no toilet paper or towels available. And if you're concerned about COVID, masks were pulled down to the chin after the first five minutes. At the destination, the crew somehow managed to put a hole in the hallway with a moving cart. The hallways are wide and I still don't understand how that happened. I haven't unpacked fully but am continuing to find minor damage. Honestly, the worst part of this experience was not the moving crew. If anything I felt bad for these guys that were clearly exhausted and I tipped them for the full time, despite my issue with how long it took them. The worst part of this move was dealing with Paul. Paul's a busy guy. You can tell because he loves telling you that he's a busy guy. After not responding to an internet quote submission, I called to schedule my move. He put me on hold, asked who I was, repeated incorrect information he had just told me minutes earlier, etc. If you're wondering why I didn't just give up on this company immediately, it's because I had a completely different experience just a year ago. Same cargo, different crew, job was over in under an hour. Five-star experience and I was really hoping this would be similar. Instead I got Paul. The total move took 2 hours with a 15 minute travel time. I was charged $140/hr with a $40 travel surcharge. Total charged was $320, but forgot to mention there was a $5 deposit made days earlier that for some reason wasn't taken out of the final charge after all, so $325. This doesn't include the cost of a parking permit, having to reschedule cleaners due to the massive delay, and whatever the cost of fixing the property at my new residence. Paul refused to speak on the phone and wanted me to email him. Never heard anything back on the night of the move. Woke up Monday to find a charge on my card despite assurances that I wouldn't be charged for the job until we had talked. Called back, was told to "call the cops (?) or do what you have to do because I'm busy and I just can't". This was just my experience with a specific crew, I didn't even catch their names but they said they were from Brooklyn. I'm sure the time of day and who you get makes all the difference. Unfortunately it seems like you're stuck with Paul. Avoid if you value your time and belongings. read more

The first gentleman who came 1/2 hr late told me he had to wait for his foreman to arrive to start and did not have a good reason why he was late nor did he apologize. The foreman (Maurice?) who came separately was very apologetic. We started 1 hour after scheduled. The women I emailed to schedule were very responsive and reached out to the movers. They were quite efficient and speedy, and my stuff was not damaged in the move. They even moved my minifridge to my car. We were able to move my studio apartment two blocks down in 1 hour. Overall I was satisfied with my service from this company! The movers did arrive about 2 hours late for my interstate move, though they ended up taking off some of the final bill to compensate for the lateness. They were very accommodating and were able to park on the narrow city street at my destination location. Also, when they noticed that my bed that was missing some screws, they were able to use some of their own spare screws to ensure it was securely assembled. The rate was also very reasonable, and by far the least expensive out of the 10 or so other companies that I messaged. What I loved most about Man With a Van was that they were super responsive. This was my first time hiring help with moving. These guys were emailing, texting, and calling back and forth with me. They cleared up any confusion and also checked in with me to see if there were any changes on my end. I had a small move with only 24 boxes and I paid $200 for everything. The move was not finished because the men failed to explain that my goods will not fit in the van. I sent my inventory for a quote. The men walked through my studio apartment and began loading the van. They left behind 20% of my belongings, saying everything wouldn't fit. I had to pay for another mover. Same price (industry-accepted 2 hour minimum with cost per hour minimum) A Professional mover is its people. This mover cost me twice. Demand costs in writing. Worst move ever! I cannot recommend Man With a Van at all. My move (2000 SF townhouse) was supposed to take 1 day, 2 trucks and 3 men. It ended up being 3 days, 3 trucks and 12 men, with questionable equipment. They were 2+hours late each time. There was wall damage (for which they did cover repair), floor damage, and incredible frustration. Items were "deposited" in the garage or living room, piled high to the ceiling, as they said they just needed to get the items moved in. I'm old so it took me several exhausting weeks to move these things to the proper rooms. Then I discovered three garment bags of my clothing were missing. The company said they weren't responsible (duh) and offered no compensation. I recognize that things get left on trucks sometimes, and end up somewhere else, but they just responded that they didn't have them, and I could file a theft report if I wanted. "Theft report" is not a term you want associated with moving your home from one place to another. I don't blame the workers; in each case we were their 3rd move of the day, and they were tired. They came from NYC, though I thought I was dealing with a local Philadelphia mover. We fed them and tipped them well, so I was very disappointed no one "found" my clothes. I wish I had read some of these reviews before hiring them. Caveat emptor. read more

I had heard good things, but I was really disappointed in Man with a Van who came to pack my apartment in Conshohocken on August 4th, 2017. It started off well. They were friendly, great energy, enthusiasm. They came across professional and ready to get to work! The divided to conquer and I felt good that this job would be handled well. It started to unravel as the day went on... their enthusiasm turned a bit rowdy and off on a tangent not related to the work. For example, they turned on my TV (that I needed them to pack) and started watching The Office "as background noise" but it was definitely a distraction. Soon after, they mentioned they'd run out of boxes. When I set up the appointment for a large 1 bedroom apartment, I said 50 boxes with about twenty book boxes for my bookcase. I think they only had about 25 boxes total, many of them were the Large size. They also had a very limited supply of packing paper and bubble wrap. But a few hours into the job, they ran out of boxes and one of the guys had to run out to get more. Meanwhile, I started noticing the packing was off. A lot of boxes in the kitchen were bulging at the top from not being packed properly. Because they were short on boxes, even after running out to get more, there were still many things left in the apartment unpacked. I was appalled to find that they had improvised on boxes by taping the sides up, leaving the top open. That's how they opted to pack my lamps and lamp shades. When they left, I inspected a few more boxes. A wardrobe box had my blouses draped over the top of the bar. When I removed those, I thought my coats looked normal, but I soon discovered that the base of the box was packed so full that the coats were just squished in there to the point that the use of a wardrobe box was more of a formality. The other problem we encountered was that they packed so much in the large boxes that we were unable to drag them, let alone lift them. And my movers, who came the next day, also commented the boxes were packed heavier than their standards and were difficult to lift upstairs. I spent the rest of the afternoon going to home depot to get more boxes and finish what they had started. We found it necessary to repack many of the boxes from the kitchen. We discovered our dishes and glass not wrapped properly, many items just thrown together. As I said, I was disappointed. We used Suburban Movers for the move and I wish they had had the availability to do the packing as well. I would not recommend, nor use Man with a Van again. read more

I used them the other day to transport a bed from a friend's apartment to mine. They were prompt, nice and professional. They moved the bed with no issues. Nothing more i can really ask of movers. They scraped my walls at one point but i do not think they could help it. I recommend them. Also, they were one of the only movers i could find that only requires a one hour minimum as opposed to two hours! Also they accept credit card! read more
