Moving is usually a PAINFUL experience for me, but not with Clutter! I had an awkward gap in when I had to move out of my last apartment and into my new one so I got clutter to help with moving and storing. I can honestly say it's the best decision I've made so far in 2021. I had my stuff ready and packed so they just came, packaged everything more securely with bubble wrap, furniture pads, etc, and then catalogued everything for me. I was a bit worried because I had several mirrors, but once I saw the great care they took to secure everything, all my fears were assuaged. I don't remember all their names, but Brian and co. were phenomenal!! 2 weeks later Adam and Ari came back with a truck of all my stuff and unloaded it all in my new apartment as requested. They were both so friendly and accommodating. And best of all, all my items (especially my mirrors ) came back in good condition. I cannot recommend this service enough, especially if you need both storage and moving help! The only thing Is I wish I could schedule my pick up and drop off appointments at the same time. I had to wait till my stuff was picked up before I could schedule a drop off date, because their website only allows one appointment at a time. That was a bit inconvenient for me since I had to also reserve a move in time slot with my building as well. I used Clutter for moving and short-term storage and had a deeply disappointing experience. When my items were returned, multiple boxes had a strong urine odor. Many boxes showed visible yellow staining consistent with rodent contamination. The odor was so strong that I had to isolate several boxes in a separate room. Despite repeated washing, my clothing and bedding could not be salvaged. I ultimately had to discard nearly my entire wardrobe, sheets, towels, stuffed items, makeup, tattoo equipment, and nail tech supplies due to contamination concerns. Several household items and glassware were also cracked. In addition, my armoire was broken during storage. Clutter has agreed to compensate me for the armoire, but they have refused to compensate me for the widespread contamination of my clothing and personal goods. Their position is that items "packed by the owner" are excluded from coverage. However, multiple boxes -- including clothing and bedding -- were packed by their team. They are now requiring me to provide proof of which boxes were packed by them in order to consider reimbursement. I am absolutely done with this company. 20 of my 132 items were lost/damaged. Approx 70% of my furniture was damaged to varying degrees. In total, they did over $3,500 worth of damage and since their arbitrary policy states that they only cover up to $2500, I am screwed. The movers that gave me my stuff back were very kind and worked hard and were on time. What concerned me was their shock and awe when they saw how much of my stuff was damaged, and how poorly the original movers had prepared my items. They kept saying how this was a bad time for the company when I had moved and things were better. This did not comfort me. Also, apparently Clutter knew things were damaged by them, and though they marked them in the system as damaged, no one bothered to tell me or notify me that they had done this. In addition, the company had agreed to refund me for the 2 items lost up front. They said in an email that this would not expire, so I waited until I received everything back to recoup. Apparently now they said its closed. they did re-open but not first without stating that I got one of the things (which is untrue because the dude didnt bother to open the link or photo to see its a different item) and then they asked again if I was sure I was missing my wine fridge... even though I had already been through that. I cannot overestimate how frustrated, annoyed, disappointed, and angry I am with my overall MakeSpace/Clutter experience. After 18 months of storage, every item of furniture I had in storage is damaged beyond repair. Even the movers who returned my items (who only picked up a truck already packed) were embarrassed and angry on my behalf of the clear lack of care and attention given during moving and storage. Their customer service is atrocious and the online/offline experiences are just antagonizing. I paid a lot of money to have Clutter pack and store my items. When I retrieved my items from storage, I discovered that everything had been packed in a completely haphazard manner. Cleaning supplies were packed with clothing, kitchen supplies were packed with my bedding and nothing was labelled or organized. In fact, the cleaning supplies were not packed properly and spilled all over some of my clothes (since they were all packed in the same box), completely ruining many of my expensive clothing items. Also, when I opened my boxes, I discovered that several of my fragile items were completely broken. I called Clutter and they were completely unhelpful. They told me to file a claim online, which I did. The items they broke (not including the ruined clothing) amounted to over $500 but Clutter told me the maximum amount that they could compensate me was $50. I will never use clutter again. I had used them a few times prior to my last move for both moving and storage; for this move I reserved five movers and two trucks - on the day of the move, I had three movers and one truck. The crew informed me that someone called out sick that morning, and they were too short staff to fill the 4th or 5th slot. Of course, not all of my furniture fit in the one small truck they provided and they had to do two runs to finish the job. I called customer service to let them know what was going on and that I should be discounted for the second run as it was preventable if the proper staff and equipment was provided, all they could suggest was to submit a dispute after I pay. Slightly disappointed with the above things Clutter is a great storage and I highly recommend this to anyone in University City area looking for a place to store furniture and stuff over the summer if you are not subletting. I scheduled mine for the first time slot and they arrived exactly on time and got straight to work. Clutter takes care of all parking, which is super convenient especially in philadelphia. I also had text notifications and a link to track the location of the crew. Tomas and Marquis were both super helpful and great to work with. The crew, as other reviews state, took great care wrapping everything up etc. and moving everything. They did especially good job with mattresses since they have large bags that serve as mattress covers. I think this is very useful and not something I could do by myself. As for the other aspects, I called clutter several times and their customer service is fantastic, except that every time I called, they always told me that the 5 x 10 unit would be enough to store all my furniture, except day of, when everything was packed, I got upgraded to a 10 x 10. I am a bit upset by this because I had previously called so many times to confirm that a 5 x 10 would be sufficient. Finally, I have yet to have my items delivered, but clutter has told me through customer service phone calls that I can have my items delivered as many times as I want throughout my membership period. Will update this post once i have my items delivered. That tells you what kind of company you are dealing with. A reputable company would resolve an issue to the client's satisfaction and ask for an updated review. But not Clutter! Customer support has tried to be helpful but regardless, they lost my elementary, middle, high school, college, and graduate school memorabilia box as well as 1 of my wedding dress. I am beyond pissed, to the point that I have reached out to BBB and an attorney. We chose Clutter from a referral. I wanted my items 10 days prior to receiving them. I attempted to make an appointment to pick items up and I could only pick up items on same day at delivery appointment. That was an additional red flag. The two men arrived at our address at 9:15am. Upon arrival we educated them to where to bring items and that there is two beds and a tv stand to be put together. They both say they do not put stuff together. We were then informed that they were called in from Secaucus and were not part of the Swedesboro Team because they called out. I say what we were quoted 1000+ and you do not put things together. I was told they do not have to put the items together. The only saving grace was Carlos. He humped everything up all of the steps. The other guy stayed on the truck and did hardly anything. We were told that they needed their moving blankets. SO GUESS WHO UNWRAPPED EVERY ITEM. The men left the tape balls that we created by unwrapping the items that your company was to take care of. Update: Our last shipment out of storage was delivered this past Friday. So much was damaged and some missing items - outright stolen from a box. All the boxes were opened, retapped or left dangling. Whoever took the case toilet paper must have really needed it to steal it. The blue tape wrapped around the furniture stripped the finish off when removed. I soaked the tape and took it off slowly, still the damage remained. A crew member opened a box, we said it was not our box. In front of us the crew divided the contents of the box amongst themselves. Obviously there was a leak in the storage facility and the metal floor imprint was transferred to the surface of our drums. Not a good experience. They damaged a custom made desk that cannot be replaced or repaired. They loaded heavy boxes on top of boxes that were clearly marked fragile, crushing the boxes. Despite me filling in the inventory list, only 2 people showed up with a small van to move my entire apartment. They said a third person had been removed from the van at the last minute. They were at my apartment for 2 hours before even moving a single prepacked box out. eventually re-inforcements arrived, but they were so slow at packing and moving that they were told to finish for the day before finishing the job, leaving my belongings scattered around. They did come back in the morning to finish the job but Clutter tried to charge me for a second appointment, and charged me for a lot of hours (no other company has ever taken more than 3-4 hrs to move me out of an apt). my charge was way higher than the estimate. They then increased the size of my storage container without telling me; adding $100s to my monthly bill. when I tried to understand why I needed a 50' container, they would not give me an explanation. Then, months later they messaged to say 'did I know, I could save money by downgrading to a 25' container' - the size I'd originally ordered. But most importantly, they do not look after your belongings. Every box came back damaged. some had clearly been totally destroyed as some belongings came back in Clutter boxes, haphazardly thrown in there. I lost numerous plates, picture frames, bakeware etc, despite being well-wrapped up - I have not even bothered to claim for these. But furniture came back totally destroyed, including 3 of 4 bookcases (one, literally in pieces) and all four legs had been ripped off my desk. Connecting pieces are missing from anything that had moveable components, such as inside shelves. It's honestly unbelievable. I put a claim in a week ago for the broken, unsalvageable furniture but am yet to hear back. In the meantime, I will be living among boxes till I can replace my broken furniture and finish setting up my home. A stress and chaos I didn't want. I had an added stress of moving out of the Philadelphia area when I finished travelling due to a job relocation. Clutter only serves the local area and dowe not allow anyone to go to their facilities to pick up their belongings. The only thing that didn't happen that they said would was the text reminder of when they were on the way. We were given a window of time but promised they would give us a heads up on arrival but nevertheless that was very minor to me. The crew showed up and greeted us and explained the process , made me feel very comfortable and they litterly took care of EVERYTHING!!! Loved that they packaged up all my random items I couldn't get in boxes, wrapped all my furniture and took pictures of everything so I can see every single item they took.
