The business Was very accommodating when my contractor was consistently pushing back construction dates and I probably had to change my moving date. However once the date was set, John didn't answer or show up! Was able to get friends to help fortunately but still a bit disappointed in the communication piece. I used these movers for a local move within Philadelphia and overall I was very satisfied. I liked the concision of their communications, the fact that they had no hidden fees, and the fact that they understood and executed on the intricacies of my move. Overall, it was pretty flawless and the price was definitely right. I got a lot of quotes and they beat them all. Here is my concern: Sometimes John was hard to get in touch with. I recommended Ivy to friends and they also had trouble getting their moves confirmed which caused them a lot of anxiety. Apparently John was having trouble with emails going to spam, but I am really not sure what happened. Did run a tad bit late which can be stressful if there are other factors in play (like an impatient maintenance guy who is operating the service elevator) but nonetheless it was worth it. These guys were absolutely excellent. Prompt and timely communication, really great flat rates, and fast, friendly service. They took care with all my things and getting them through multiple flights of long narrow stairs. Also even though my move ran a good bit over the 3 hour window for their flat rates, they didn't charge extra. The flat rate was especially nice, because I'm happy to pay for extra time, but don't like dealing with various add ons and surcharges. Overall a great experience. Email communication prior to move was prompt and answered all questions. Unfortunately their morning move ran long, so they were late to mine, but when the move ran a little bit over time, they didn't charge for the extra minutes, so it worked out ok. All the furniture made it intact and all boxes and fragile items were unharmed. They were super friendly and thought about where to place furniture, etc. Was it a white glove professional move? No, but the guys were friendly and did their job well. That's more than I can say for most "professional" moving companies in the area. read more

We were overall satisfied with the move. Movers were professional, pleasant, and reliable. They communicated when they were enroute. They arrived early and worked diligently to complete the move efficiently. One of the movers was familiar with the building that we were moving to so that was helpful. No complications. The only downside was that we were quoted a price for two movers for 3 hours. They arrived with three movers, and it took 3 hours. It would have been better to know the difference in advance. I want to preface this review with the understanding that this company is pretty much run by two UPenn college students. Overall the booking was easily done via email (I'm sure they just did it on their smartphones) and the emails were short and to the point. I emailed them about 48 hours before the move to confirm the move and they responded "We'll be there" which was enough for me. They showed up on move in day about 10 mins late (which wasn't a big deal) double parked a big UHAUL truck outside my apartment and proceeded to move me entirely out and into my new apartment within 1.5 hours. They were practically running my stuff up and down the stairs (Like actually running. They were incredibly fit). They were by far the cheapest movers in the city and I am also a college student with a small budget and mostly IKEA furniture so it worked very well for me! My fiance and I used Ivy Movers to help us move from Delaware, to the Albany area, in NY. We set up the move via email, which was fine. I was a little nervous towards the move date, since there was a question of what size truck they should bring, and I hadn't received a confirmation that the amount of stuff we had was something they could handle. But the evening before our move, I got a response that we were good to go. We had set an appointment for them to arrive at 9 a.m. They didn't actually show up until about 10, so we again, were a little nervous. When they arrived, there wasn't any kind of apology for being late, but it was mentioned that their GPS didn't give them the correct directions to our house, so it wasn't too big of a deal. But I would've appreciated a call to let us know they were running late, but that they were on their way. Other than those small hiccups in the beginning, the service was excellent. There were 3 guys, and they moved very quickly. We had our 3 bedroom, 4 story townhouse packed into the truck in roughly 2 hours. And even with how fast they worked, they were careful with our things and nothing was dropped/damaged/etc. Additionally, they were incredibly reasonably priced. I've never used movers before, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but they gave me a flat rate for the truck, their time, gas/tolls, loading and unloading, which again, seemed more than reasonable. It was definitely worth every penny. I would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone in the Philly area making a move, even if it's out of state. read more

Excellent experience with these guys. They were polite, professional, and SO FAST! My wife and I moved from an apartment in University City that had 3 flights of stairs to traverse to an apartment in Roxburough where the truck had to park about 50 yards away from the front door. Also it was like 95 degrees out on the day of the move and we had a fair amount of stuff. I was given a price for 3 hours and these guys were done in 2 1/2 which also included a half hour of driving! They did a great job being careful with our stuff even while traversing 3 very awkward staircases and brought furniture pads to help protect everything they loaded the truck. They took their time organizing the truck and made sure it was packed well instead of just throwing everything in there. After the move there were some minor scratches here and there on some of the furniture but that is sort of just expected when moving regardless of who does it so I don't fault them for it. Overall I was extremely happy with the move. It was a great price and it was 100% worth the money. read more

GREAT MOVERS! I used these guys to move from my 3rd story walk-up and could not be more satisfied. After reading some of the reviews, I was worried that they might come late. But, they came early and prepared to move. I had about a 1-bd apartment full of stuff (1 bed, kitchen, living room, bathroom) and they loaded all of my things into the truck and unloaded everything in 1 hour and 15 minutes! They were gentle with my things--I didn't notice any scuffs, dents, etc--and they're very nice, too. I'd recommend Ivy Movers to anyone! If you want an easy move, these guys are the way to go! The only downside with working with Ivy Movers is that they can be hard to contact. They don't pick up the phone and can take up to 1 full day to respond to emails. read more

They were flexible on arrival time and number of movers (I changed to more help and earlier start within 24 hours of the move), they worked with my 3 part move even when problems arose and they stayed working hard until the job was done even though it was later than planned. The loading of my truck and storage unit was a work of art. They fit everything into both even though it was tight. They treated my furniture like it was their own. Some items were very heavy and had to be carried down a narrow staircase but they did a great job! They did not scuff the walls or the furniture. I used Ivy Movers three times and I have been thrilled with each experience. The first time was a simple move, just a short move to different parts of Philadelphia. It took them very little time and everything arrived in one piece. For the past few months, I have been living in Germany, but needed my furniture from my subletted apartment to be moved into storage. I was able to set everything up with them via email and gave them the numbers of the people who were to let them into the apartment and storage unit. I was obviously incredibly worried being in another country, while they complete two moves for me. They let me know when everything was finished. The others let me know that everything went great and there were no problems. When running a little late, they made sure to give everyone a call in advance. They made my experience much better and it was such a relief having this handled so well by Ivy Movers while I was away! read more

These guys were excellent and I would highly recommend them! My roommate and I had an apartment full of stuff that needed to be moved from center city philly to manhattan, New York. We had to unload stuff at 3 different stops in New York City (including one 5th floor walk-up). These guys worked like a well-oiled machine and between the two of them, they did the job of at least 5 men (the word I'm looking for is super-human). When they were running ahead of time, they were in constant touch to let me know. They dismantled my bed frame, and put it back together with ease. Prior to the move date, they were very responsive on email (I was in touch with John), including when I had to let them know of changes to the plan and inventory list. Their moving service was reasonably priced and stress-free. They are both super accommodating guys, with a great attitude. So I had high hopes in hiring these guys. I went with them not only because they had good reviews and seemed like a decent deal, but I would prefer to help out grad students vs corporate giants. Needless to say at least for my move they didn't deliver on what I expected. The move started out rocky. When I met the guys, the one was pleasant and the other one didn't even acknowledge me or say hi even when I introduced myself- it was like as if they were friends doing this as a favor not a paid service. When I was instructing them on what should be moved, it seemed as if the job was a hassle for them instead of being happy for the business. On top of it they still left stuff at my old apartment I asked them to move! When my belongings arrived at the new place they didn't care where anything was placed, and didn't even bother to put the items back together they took apart. Overall I'm happy they didn't break anything, just disappointed in the quality of service and poor job done in leaving things behind- rather carless if you ask me. I hired Ivy Movers at the last minute to move me from the Lehigh Valley to Philly. They quoted me a flat rate with the truck for three hours. The rate was higher than the rate posted on their website, but it was a longer move and it was last minute so I understood the extra cost. I thought there was no way they would get it done within that timeframe, but I needed to move and didn't have many options unless I wanted to delay my move. I set up with them through email. The emails were brief, as others said, but answered all of my questions. I emailed about arrival time about an hour before they were to show up, and they said they'd be a few minutes late. They were there within 30 minutes of scheduled time and that was due to traffic. John and James were polite, clean, strong, and EFFICIENT. They lifted things alone that I've had difficulty lifting with another person. They navigated a narrow city stairwell with large pieces of furniture like it was nothing. They packed the truck, drove to Philly, unloaded, and put back together several pieces of furniture all within the 3 hour timeframe for the flat rate. I was tired just watching them. These guys were definitely worth the money and saved my sanity. read more

It took a long time to get a quote and John's (the owner?) communication was spotty, but the price ($140) was reasonable. Eventually, we were contacted by Corey, who said our date was open. We booked a two-man crew for two hours to help us unload our truck. We said would call the morning of our move to let him know our ETA - Corey said that was fine. We called from the road at 10:30 and gave him three hours notice, and he said his crew would be there at 1:30. At 2:15, one guy (Mike) showed up, didn't know if anyone else was coming, and couldn't get in touch with Corey or John. I called and texted Corey several times trying to figure out what was going on, but he didn't pick up or respond. They get two stars because Mike was great, but the communication issues and only sending us half the promised crew is unacceptable and unprofessional.
