They were able to make our dates work, quoted a reasonable rate, sent a detail oriented team (they wrapped our furniture really well) and overall got the job done satisfactorily. There are a couple of dents in cheaper, softer items, but I don't know how you'd avoid those. The team wanted to work through lunch and ended up taking only a half hour longer than the estimate. There is a charge for using credit, so we made sure to have a combo of cashiers check and cash to cover most of the bill. The guys also suggested using the brown packing tape instead of the clear because it holds the boxes together better. Good luck with your move! read more

The guys did a great job moving me on December 7, although I found out later that 2 of my glass shelves from an heirloom china closet were chipped. I was truly surprised when I realized this, because I had explained to the movers that this was the most sensitive piece in the move, because of the glass. I contacted Christian, who told me that he would set up an appointment for someone to come out. After voicemails and emails, I still have not heard back. I would stay far away from this unprofessional company. I was quoted $3,147.50 to pack and move, and ended up paying them $5,409.42 plus over $1,000 in tips. It was supposed to take 8.5 hours to move and ended up taking over 12 hours even with my husband and I helping to load up. They damaged my treadmill disassembling and reassembling it, damaged one of a kind artwork, broke fragile items, and didn't protect my dining table so it arrived damaged. After months of back and forth with Christian, the owner, I only was able to get the treadmill fixed. He has stopped responding to my calls and emails to repair or replace my other damaged items. Disappointing all around. Do not recommend! Go with one of the other well-known companies - you'll pay more but you get quality service. read more

Communication was quick and clear as I was getting my move set up, and I received a detailed estimate (which ended up being conservative and I paid less...bonus!). They arrived on time, everyone in the four man crew was friendly and professional. EDIT: The business owner has again made false claims without having seen the actual move or the damage caused by his crew, to get out of dealing with dealing with these issues. Christian was NOT there when his crew asked me to borrow tools, NOT there when they scraped the walls with our furniture, and NOT there when they cracked the banister. Lowered my rating to one star. Original review: PhilaGorilla was fine. They showed up on time and in masks, but the positives stop there. The movers showed up unprepared, without any tools (screwdriver and allen wrench) for disassembling furniture. Thankfully I own tools that i was able to lend to the movers so that they could do their jobs. On top of that, their crew damaged the stairwell banister in multiple places, for which I am now being charged several hundred dollars. Christian was completely unhelpful and falsely claimed that the damage was pre-existing, which is hard to believe considering the size of the cracks and scratches (see photos). Several pieces of furniture had paint on them from where they scraped the wall, and there were many instances where they were slamming boxes down, without really paying attention to whether the contents were labeled as fragile or not. Even after traffic delayed their arrival by 30 minutes, they still finished the move within the 3 hour window for which my building reserved the elevator. Earlier this fall, my boyfriend decided to move and asked for mover recommendations. I recommended PhilaGorilla and once again they did not disappoint. Nelson and his team arrived at 8am sharp, fully masked. Within 3 hours, they were completely finished, including the time they took to break down and reassemble the bedroom furniture. Everything from start to finish was great until I plugged my TV in a few days after the move. Fortunately, one of the owners came over to see the broken TV and they cut out a check for the purchase price a few days later. Sadly, I got the TV at rock bottom price and I'm still waiting for a sale for a similar quality TV. I recommend checking all monitors/tvs/computers before and after the move to make sure nothing gets broken during the move. As for the movers themselves, they worked very quickly and they finished faster than the estimated time. I would recommend them as long as you make sure you remind the movers to slow down and be careful with the electronics. read more

The two times we have used them they always show up right on time and get everything moved incredibly efficiently. Their price is very reasonable and they do not idle or stall for extra time. I booked this company 5 weeks in advance, paid my deposit and even connected with them in the weeks leading up to my move. When it came time to move me they said they would arrive at 1p, and then at 2p, and finally at 4p they CANCELED and wanted to reschedule for 3 days later. Apparently if you are booked at 1pm and not 8am they are less likely to keep the commitment. Just incredibly unprofessional. Who can just change a moving date on a dime?! These guys were nice and efficient. However, they charged me $170 for the 7 or so miles it took them to get to my place! That was not something I anticipated. I was moving out of a studio apartment and they brought a HUGE truck with them, much bigger than necessary. They also charge for every stair case they have to traverse...which is why the hourly fee was not the $150/hour advertised on their website. In the end, I felt like they kept adding fees (like the $10 for gas...was that not part of the $170 you charged me for getting to my place?) at the end, and I was so exhausted from the move that I wasn't alert enough to protest. All in all, I paid over $600 to move out of a studio apartment and go FIVE BLOCKS west into another place. That, to me, is way (way) too much. I'm sorry, but I would not use this company again. THE OWNER CANNOT BE TRUSTED I used PhilaGorilla twice during a recent two-step move: first, out of my apartment and into my girlfriend's and, second, to move us from her place into a new house. The first move went pretty smoothly (aside from a damaged window) but in the course of the second move, they broke the window and Christian, the owner, shockingly REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE. During the initial move, which was at the end of April, Christian decided to (unnecessarily) hoist a pair of box springs thru a second story window and, in the course of doing so, we later learned, damaged the window balances that keep the window open and prevent it from slamming shut. He said nothing to us about causing this damage and we only learned about when my gf almost had the window slam on her hand. Then, during the second move, in late May, one of the movers, not realizing the window balances had been broken during the first move, allowed the window to slam shut and the glass cracked. He said nothing to us about the break but luckily I noticed it before they had left the house and brought it to his attention. The mover said he would let Christian know and they'd take care of it. After the move was complete, I reached out to Christian and sent him pictures of the damage numerous times via text and email until finally, several days later, he responded. I was completely shocked when he not only refused to take responsibility, but even tried to gaslight me by saying 1) the window balances and glass were already broken prior to the first move and 2) that he had brought it to my attention at that time. At best, he is completely misremembering the situation and, at worst, blatantly lying. The window was in good condition and completely damage-free prior to the first move. I replied to him with a full explanation of what actually happened and he completely ignored my email and never responded. ABSOLUTELY APPALLING LACK OF HONESTY AND PROFESSIONALISM. I paid this company nearly $1,000, including tips, in the course of the two moves, assisted them wherever possible and felt I was courteous and accommodating at every opportunity. I cannot believe Christian's lack of personal accountability. I typically don't write negative reviews because I think it can unfairly color the perception of businesses in certain industries (where ppl are more likely to write a review if they have negative experience as opposed to a positive one) but I just couldn't let this go unsaid. Wow, I am so glad that I hired PhilaGorilla to help me with my move. This was easily my best moving experience. Christian is very responsive, and often heard back within couple of hours whenever I had a question or confirmed my appointment. Polite over email and was honest about prices. They moved everything quickly, efficiently, and safely. They even took extra items that other companies wouldn't take like my bagged clothes on hangers. It was only like 15 minutes, so not a big deal. (a while ago on another move I'd used a different company, and woo boy, like night and day!). Moving is never fun, but PhilaGorilla made it pretty seamless. I called and got a quote and Christian emailed me over information right away. Their hourly rate at 140/hour is super reasonable and its only a 2 hour minimum instead of 3, which was great for us. They also seemed very straightforward without a million rules and fees, which is unlike a lot of the other moving companies I contacted. Christian told us everything we needed and sent over a certificate of insurance, which our building required. On the day of the move, they were a little late, but called and told us they would be because their morning move went over the estimated time. Not a huge deal. Once they got there, the 3 guys worked tirelessly and got the job done. I didn't feel like any of them were taking breaks or dawdling to increase the time. We had no major issues with items or damage. They brought shrink wrap for our furniture and mattress pads for our bed and TV. The move did take a little longer than expected, but I it's because somehow we accumulated so much STUFF and not because they were being slow! We had a little snag the first day that we were scheduled for them to unload a UBox due to a mistake on our part and they were very understanding and able to reschedule for the very next day. On that next day, the guys came right from another job and were still joking around and in good spirits. Never thought I'd say this about moving, but what a GREAT experience. We found PhilaGorilla on Yelp looking for the best reviewed movers, and after calling around to a few other places, these guys were the only ones who really seemed to listen to our questions and concerns about moving our third floor tiny walk-up apartment into our new house. We had PhilaGorilla both pack and move us. The packing services were excellent - far beyond our expectations. Everything was packed quickly and with great care in sturdy new cardboard boxes. The next day was the move - and it went off without a hitch. I don't know how these guys got all of our big furniture around our building's tiny bends and narrow stairs, but they made it look easy. Plus, not a scratch on anything. I would 100% recommend PhilaGorilla movers - especially getting both the packing and moving services. Our neighbors referred us to PhilaGorilla, and we are happy they did! Moving can be rather stressful, but our team from PhilaGorilla was excellent. They were responsive to every request/email, they were on-time, efficient, and a nice group of guys. Things happen, and one of our movers slipped and dropped a desk. The desk broke, and there were two pretty big holes in our wall. The team responded quickly to apologize and to let us know they will take care of it. The next day Christian called us to let us know they will pay for a new desk and send someone to fix the holes. And within a week, Christian stopped by to say sorry and pay for the desk and had a drywall contractor at our house to repair the holes. You hope that these things don't happen during a move, but it is good to know companies still have true customer service. I can't say enough about Christian and his team at PhilaGorilla. I had an excellent experience with this service! The movers arrived right on time and were very friendly. As a woman alone with the movers for a few hours, I felt very safe and comfortable. My pick up address had a narrow street and the movers had to park down the block, which is very inconvenient but they were extremely easy going and assured me it was not a problem. They let me know they were running a few minutes late, and then worked steadily through a long day (eleven hours total). The move-in had is challenges (a small street with no parking, three stories, tight corners), but they didn't complain and didn't leave until they had placed everything where I wanted. I had a lot of mixed feelings about writing this review. I waited a couple of weeks after my move to make sure I didn't let my emotions dictate the review. Ultimately, I feel 3 stars is the most I can give, after giving it a lot of thought. First I would like to say that the crew that worked on my move was excellent. They worked fast under very difficult circumstances and pouring rain. As far as I can tell, none of my furniture was damaged and there was only minor damage done to the walls of my new home. I gave them a pretty generous cash tip to thank them. PhilaGorilla is lucky to have this crew. If I was rating them only, I would give them 5 stars. But PhilaGorilla, as a moving company, needs to re-evaluate how they manage moves. They clearly overbooked the crews on my moving day, resulting in a world of worry, anxiety and stress. All of it unnecessary. The person who manages the schedule booked my moving crew for a morning move from 9am-12pm. This was the move before mine. Mine was scheduled to begin at 12pm. On their website they pretty much guarantee that they will arrive on time and give you a trouble free move. That was not my experience. On the day of my move, I had scheduled the freight elevator of the building I was moving out of for 3 hours. So I had it from 12-3pm. My moving crew from PhilaGorilla arrived at around 1:30pm. This was a direct result of overbooking. They finished their previous move at around noon and then they were stuck in traffic for 90 minutes. Terrible planning is an understatement. Moving is already one of the most stressful experiences in life. PhilaGorilla made it unnecessarily hard. I do not recommend them. read more

The three gentlemen who came were so easy to work with! When I asked how I could help, they said to sit back and relax. They treated each box, suitcase and piece of furniture as though it was their own. The street where they were supposed to pick up some furniture was being paved - of all days and with no notice!!! - and the guys went to another location to pick up additional items and then went back. My wife and I had to move on short notice, so we put in a quote request on Tuesday afternoon, they responded on Wednesday, asking for more information, which I sent on Thursday. They confirmed on Friday and showed up on Sunday to move us. We emailed back and forth with Christian, he was friendly and efficient. The three movers showed up a few minutes early and did a great job. They packed up their truck very quickly, taking great care of all the boxes and furniture. They then met us at our new place and unpacked even more quickly. They were friendly too.
