Wrongful sale of my belongings despite payment attempt and communication…read moreThis review is for Public Storage - 8228 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236. On January 26, 2026, my storage unit was sold even though I made repeated attempts to communicate and make payment. I called multiple times that morning and left messages trying to find out the exact amount required to stop the sale. No one returned my calls. When I finally reached an employee named Chrissy, I was told my total balance was $1,000.48 and that they would accept a partial payment of $555.00 to stop the sale. I had the $555.00 available and agreed immediately. While attempting to process the payment, my bank showed a system error, which was later confirmed by my bank as an issue on their end -- not a lack of funds. We attempted the payment multiple times. I also tried using another bank card and successfully sent $1.00 to confirm that card worked, with the intention of immediately submitting the full $555.00 payment on that card. Despite these efforts, my belongings were still sold. On January 27th, I called again and begged them not to release my belongings to the buyer. My bank confirmed that the funds would be fully available on January 28th, less than 24 hours later. I explained this clearly and pleaded with them to wait. My unit contained irreplaceable personal items belonging to my deceased parents, which are the only things I have left of them. I would not refuse to pay knowing that. I was later told Public Storage gave me "two extra days," which is not true. My account had already been closed on the 27th, and my belongings had already been released to the buyer. The timeline does not support their statement. I did communicate. I did attempt to pay. I did everything I could under the circumstances. The lack of compassion, accountability, and honesty shown in this situation has been devastating. In my opinion, this was a wrongful sale, and no one should have to lose their parents' belongings this way.its not like i did have the money they can look on payments history they could have delayed the buyer but yet they lied and said they gave me truth extra days the day my things was sold was on the 26th i tryed to pay it it was a system problem on the bank end the 27th of january i talk to an manager that morning and told the promblem i beg him to hold the buyer up because they said the problem woud be fix the very next day which it was thats the 28th of jaunary i had the 555.00 ready to pay the next morning reguardless of how they do things they seen i was paying not lose my things i beg them and the 28th would have been the extra day they claimed they gave they seen i do pay so why not held that buyer off ...sometimes yall need to give people grace and not be so horrible and lieing on people because they did not give me that extra less then 24 hours

However, I'm glad I saved JFP Express in my drafts because their service was excellent. I contacted three different companies through Yelp, but ultimately chose JFP Express because they were the only ones who provided an all-inclusive price with no hidden fees--unlike the other companies. I find it frustrating when businesses try to extract as much as they can from customers through various pretexts and dishonest practices. JFP Express, however, was honest and transparent from the start. Jason was very courteous and communicative, arranging everything seamlessly. When the team arrived, they were respectful, personable, and professional. The piano, along with everything else, was handled with the utmost care and attention. Even my husband, who is usually very reserved, was impressed with the team, especially Darius, who was exceptionally pleasant. We will definitely be using their services again. 4.5 out of 5 stars…read more Generally, the moving experience was fine. However, like a lot of moving companies they have absorbent fees that are only mentioned after the move. The fuel/transport fee was above average especially given the move location was only a 2 miles distance. They added an extra mover the day off bc we have stairs. Though that was their decision, we were charged above the quoted rate for the additional person. I paid cash, which gave us a 10% discount but with all the extra fees, the 10% isn't much of a savings. I still tipped and nothing was broken or damaged during the move. They also arrived on time and helped taped boxes that needed additional reinforcement. Boxes were placed on the appropriate rooms based on the labels. I would hire them again but would budget for 15-20% more than what they quote.

The worst moving experience of my life. Took them over 10 hours to move me into a two bedroom…read moreapartment. Scratched up furniture, broke items & stripped nuts/ bolts during reassembly. Leaving most items unassembled and taped or boxed up. The lead mover even threatened and did leave unfinished because I asked if the bolts on my bed were being stripped, as I could hear the drill stripping them. Then attempted to charge double what was quoted, charging me extra for an additional mover I didn't request and for unnecessarily used tape. They literally wrapped tape around a mattress and taped up sofa pillows and charged me an additional $165 for packing supplies used. But somehow managed to scratch up my entire dinette, chairs included. Giving them 1 star is being generous; there is nothing professional about them.
