I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I feel people should be aware of my experience with this Public Storage location. I was charged a $75 fee because one item was accidentally left outside of my storage unit temporarily. When I questioned the charge, the manager told me it was allowed "per the contract." After reviewing my rental agreement myself, I could not find any language stating that this situation was subject to a $75 fee. I called back and asked the manager to specifically show me where in the contract this charge was authorized. She pointed me to Section 14, but even after reviewing it during the call, there was still no wording explaining that this type of issue carried a $75 charge. When I respectfully pointed that out, the manager became hostile and eventually hung up on me. What is most frustrating is that I have not been able to get any real help regarding this charge at the facility level and now have to escalate the issue to corporate just to try to get answers and assistance. Communication throughout this situation has been very poor and extremely unprofessional. read more

This is from years ago, but I never actually submitted a review. Still to this day though it makes me upset. If I could do no stars I would. Not only was my storage unit broken into, but after going back and forth trying to do an insurance claim I got no where. Also while filing a police report it was brought to my attention that there has been multiple theft incidents at that location. It was also said that two employees resigned not long after. Still never was contacted by anyone regarding the broken in storage. I had so much valuable stuff destroyed; stolen sneakers and jerseys, and a ransacked unit. read more

So my fiancee and I rented a space Amelia was top notch she isn't the reason for the one star. My fiancee started renting the space and I was a dollar at first. But then they raised the rate per month from 152$ to 202$ but how sway? So I asked a lawyer if this was even legal. At that price we might as well find a way to be there everyday. So I have been with uhaul for 15 yrs and my storage is bigger. And cost less than his. Amelia, thank you for being awesome. Of course I didn't get a call before the first of the month that they'd charge me again and my scheduled move out wasn't complete. So here we are after the first and they are calling for payment. I am confident they knew my lock was still on for over a week and that they were just waiting for the first to take my money. After a year of never a single missed or late payment. Recently dealt with a broken elevator limiting access to my storage for over 3 weeks. Sadly not the fault of the unit's employees but the corporate juggernaut that has the largest market share of storage in the US. No communications we're shared with renters outside the sign on the elevator door. Thus one had to call or visit to be disappointed that the largest strage company in the US cannot do access repairs in a reasonable time frame nor utilize modern communication methods to keep renter's informe. No compensation offered proactively and limited carts because they were trapped in another floor not accessible due to the elevator. I went up and carried a cart down myself... In addition my rent was raised 2+ times in less than a year. Sadly the other renters I spoke to in less advantageous financial situations were moving out due to rent increases. Large companies like PS need to "grow hearts" with their unlimited resources rather than use them for market dominance, power, and control For large profitable companies customer service needs to be proactive not reactive... The actual employees I dealt with were all great. Sadly they are the low people, paid little, with little influence on the big picture yet remain the face of a company that cares little for them based on my wage inquirie. I will be voting with my dollar and moving in the next few months. Nor will I invest in the REIT going forwar. read more

I tried to rent a storage unit for a move where my husband was going to be the one driving the truck and needing to get into the storage space. As the contract filled out online, I couldn't find any way to get him on the reservation! I was sure there must be some way to resolve things after I booked the storage, so I went ahead and reserved. Reader, there was not. I tried on the website, I tried via email and via 3 phone calls that hung forever on hold or went to voicemail. How hard can this be? Finally I tried to just cancel and get a refund, but they wouldn't refund me and just took my money for a storage space I never even got to access. Ugh. For my sake and others like me, please take your money elsewhere. read more

We rented a parking spot for our trailer here for a couple years. Without fail, Public Storage constantly raised the rent every 6 months. I now pay over $100 more a month than I did originally with absolutely no improvements to the spot. The "parking lot" is a big dirt area that brought ants in the summer and was always un-mowed. There are absolutely no markings to indicate where the individual spaces are so over the 2 years we had several issues of people parking in the wrong spot or creeping into another spot. Getting out of the facility was also a bit tricky due to lack of mirrors for blind spots and a ton of pot holes that were never repaired. The only positive is that management would answer their phone but not sure they ever acted in a complaint. Glad to be leaving this place!!!! read more

I rented a unit on 11/11/2023 to store my full size couch, my kitchen table with 4 chairs and two bedroom end tables for two weeks. Upon returning to pick up my items the lock on my storage unit was gone and when I opened the door my items were gone as well. There was a new lock and brochure on the floor as if they were renting the unit out again and that was it.....I have the Public Storage app and it shows I am paid up, in advance even, and do not have any unread messages or alerts of any form or fashion. I am on a limited timeframe and need to transport my belongings 4hrs away in eastern Washington but instead am sitting here wondering where my stuff is as the office isn't open and they are the only ones who can tell me what happened as per corporate. You may not want to trust this location with your personal belongings...10/10 would not recommend read more

Our experience with Public Storage was ok. No rats or water damage. Of course the rental rate continued to climb until it was over twice what we signed up for. When you rent a storage unit you are usually paying not to deal with your "stuff". We've used storage twice now, for several years each time. Complete waste of money. We had already replaced or didn't need/want anything in the unit. Over 4 years we probably spent over $7K. My advice to anyone looking for a storage unit is don't do it. Just don't....go straight to donations. However I have to say the support staff was pretty great. We worked with Joey who is an amazing human being. She helped us several times. I had a storage locker there for 7 years and the service was great until the last few months when my locker got infested with mice and rats. I did not have any food in my locker but they made nests and there were droppings everywhere. I found this out right before I was to move into a new apartment. So I had to hire people to clean everything and move to a new unit before moving into my apt. I had a unit on the 3rd floor and many of the areas on that floor had mice droppings in the hallways. It was really bad and it was just not my unit. There was no compensation from Public Storage and I had to threw out rugs and furniture. So please beware if you are going to this location. I rented a 10X10 unit today. I made the reservation online and within an our I was called to confirm. Driving up to the property my first thought was wow this place is big. I would soon learn that it was MUCH bigger. Walking in to the office we were kindly greeted by Pat. She looked up the reservation, grabbed her clipboard and off to the unit we went! (That in itself was an adventure) The unit that we looked at was just the right size. Im not sure in terms of the price if it was a steal or not because I havent rented very many storage units, however I will say that it fit my budget. Pat was exceptionally personal, she answered all of our questions and offered valuable input in terms of what to expect, the do's and dont's of the facility and a great laugh. If I had to critique anything about this place is would be that the other staff was not as warm, welcoming or friendly as Pat. There were not rude, however they did not engage with us while we were there. Sometimes even a smile with your eyes can say a whole lot. Overall we are exceptionally happy with our visit as it was fairly speedy and Pats customer service was through the roof. I will update my review after a few months/interactions! read more

There was a break-in a while back. My mom & others' property/belongings were stolen and Public Storage did not want to be held accountable for their lack of security. Every unit has a garage-style door that is locked down by at least 2 heavy duty padlocks, as was my moms. When brought up they told her to "bring receipts of the stolen belongings". I was baffled when I heard that. The items are at least 5+ years old and I don't think receipts last that long nor does anyone carry em for a good amount of time. Now they have been charging even more to have a unit there, every year! I don't understand what made these practices "ok" for the company to stay alive. The staff is extremely helpful and I am giving an extra star for that reason. I rented an interior unit for 2.5 years. My two big issues were: 1- Without fail, Public Storage constantly raised the rent, sometimes within months of the last increase and no improvements to the security system, building, or cleanliness of the overall property. The final straw was an increase of $70 per month, putting me well over $120 more than original cost. 2- When I went to move out of my unit I found that there had been rats in it. I had checked it 6 months earlier and didn't have them then, so the complaints from others have not improved the situation. I also did not have food of any type in my unit to attract them. read more

i want to leave a second review........ There is an extensive rat problem. This was not disclosed to us as we moved in. We were encouraged to purchase the public storage insurance for the unit. Well...... it only covers $250 of "vermon" damage with a $100 deductable. This is like a slap in the face. We had very expensive rugs eaten through. Clothes eaten and rat feces everywhere. When you call in to check their rates, the salesperson will quote you a really low rate or a special to entice you in. When you get there, they add on all sorts of fees ($25 for the key, nonrefundable, $25 admin fee, etc) and they try to press useless extras on you as well. They will reassure you that you can cancel early and receive a prorated fee back for the few days you don't use, but it will of course amount to peanuts. I really wish I'd listened to my gut and not gone on and rented a space with them when the ~$26 rate the guy had quoted me online turned into ~$70 for actually opening the box, but I was tired and desperate. Let my mistake be your warning. The facility itself is okay as far as storage places go, but not the best. If you really need medium to long term storage, I would 100% look around for other places that are at least more honest with their rates and/or in slightly better condition. read more

The only good customer service was from the older gentleman, Filipino employee there. He was always upfront and honest. The female employee that's there, I forget her name coz id rather not even know her name either, they don't do anything legal there. I was about only a month behind, they already put me on Auction but haven't even notified me about any auction until the month of, never received any delinquency calls nor was I notified for any preliens or liens or aware of any auction until a week before auction. They cram courtesy calls for when it's almost auction so that they can cut your locks and go through your things and we end up losing everything.Rat infested location .The female employee there is a crock. They won't notify you if your on auction. I've actually only stayed because of the older Asian gentleman employee. All the other employees need to learn some laws. BE REALLY CAREFUL. Guys, if I had written a review for this place right after I moved in or even two years ago, it would have been glowing. Five stars for sure. The people here are really friendly, the move-in/out process is straightforward, rates are reasonable and they're always offering a good promotion for your first 1-3 months with them. After my parents passed away my husband and I rented a 5x10 unit for their belongings. At one point when we were in-between apartments we upgraded to a 10x15 unit (doing so is super easy) and then we downgraded again to a 10x10 which is where our stuff stayed for the last two years. We relocated to Portland in November of 2017 and were going to come get our stuff once we settled into a new place. Life happened and we were unable to go back until this year, November 2019. We never had any concerns about our stuff because we had been with them for 2 years in the other units before we decided to leave town and never had any issues. It was horrifying when we went back this month. HORRIFYING. First, when we got there the key to our lock didn't work. We got someone from the office to come check it out and it was discovered that someone had tried really hard to remove the lock and break into our unit and thankfully had failed but destroyed the lock in the process. The office is not equipped with bolt cutters or anything like that and we were told our options were to wait two days for a manager to come in with a device to remove the lock or call a locksmith. Seeing as how we came up from Portland and had family meet us there just to move out this unit- we went with the locksmith, and 30 mins and $130 later we were in the unit...EVERYTHING was covered in a layer of rat feces and urine, rat poop was falling on my family members' heads from the rafters as they helped me move! It was mortifying. We found the bodies of two DEAD RATS while moving the unit and I am praying that I don't find more as I go through the boxes. They chewed into every box and shred our clothing and bedding and anything soft OR papery to make little rat nests that we keep finding in other boxes. Our mattress is ruined in a way that I don't even want to describe. And yes, included in the damage is a lot of my deceased parents' things. I've had to throw away their clothes that I was not ready to part with as well as other sensitive stuff. I would cry if my antidepressants allowed it, lol. So moving our stuff out of the storage unit and into our brand new house was supposed to be a really big and exciting time for us. We felt so happy and accomplished. And now it has turned into this nightmare! To make matters much, much worse, we filed an insurance claim and were told "vermin damage is limited to $250 minus a $100 deductible". So for paying $11 a month to Orange Door Storage for over 4 years, we get $150 for our hundreds of dollars in rat damage to our belongings (as well as things that are priceless and cannot be replaced, from my parents.) Lastly, the cherry on top is that the insurance company keeps telling me that I need to "tell the property manager (Public Storage) what happened". Yeah, that'd be great. Except now when you call it goes to like a call center it seems, instead of directly to the office you are calling. I've waited on hold for over 5 minutes to get someone to answer and I've finally given up. :( My advice to you is that if you really want to rent here (due to the price/location/whatever)- wrap all of your boxes in plastic wrap and/or don't get the coverage that is offered to you (they require you to have renter's insurance). Find a policy that will give you more than $150 if rats destroy your life. read more

this location has given me the worst experience ever! i do not recommend this location. they are infested with rats. they dont let their customers know what is happening. i moved in and was told another customer had been storing food a few months later like the issue had just happened, meanwhile they have had rodents since late april if not longer. damaged items and their insurance policy for vermin or rodents only covers $250. ripoff! all of my belongings were ruined,it smelled like animal inside the whole area where my unit was located. then they expect you to go inside and clean your stuff with rat dropping and urine everywhere! i would keep on looking the next time you decide to rent from this negligent property! read more

I give Public Storage in Seattle on MLK Blvd S no stars at all. I had a storage for 5 straight years, among other times, was never late, always paid and when I was ready to move out, they wouldn't allow me to pay half the month or refund me if I didn't stay the full month. Then come to find out the key I had was not for my storage. Customer Service advised me that they did not have additional keys and I would have to contact a locksmith, and if they had to call a locksmith it could take up to 14 days. Customer service was horrible and loyalty means absolutely nothing to them!!! Then they called me approximately 5 days after I emptied my storage and told me that I left something and if I didn't come and get it, they would charge me for the entire next month and that they would leave the storage unlocked for me. I advised that I'd come get it before the end of the month. Someone called me again to tell me the same thing as if I didn't get the picture the first time. I will never use nor recommend anyone to use this particular Public Storage. Customer service was absolute garbage!!!!!!!! read more

I've been renting a storage unit from them for about 3-4 years. 5x10 then went to a 10x10. Keep in mind I never missed any payment and paid on time every month (during the whole pandemic I still paid on time and in full). They would raise my storage unit rent every few months and it's not like $5-$10 a month, it is like $20 more a month. I've gotten to the point where I could no longer afford to pay so much to rent the storage unit. They have lost me as a customer for life. read more
