Do not patronize Public Storage in Rancho Mirage. Their property backs up to 3 homes in my development with a weed and overgrown easement between PS and our homes. The trees are so overgrown that they are a fire hazard. Their droppings fill our pools, block our beautiful views, and bring snakes into our yards. The city only requires them to clean the ground if I file a report. The city will not require them to trim or cut the trees. I have been from contacting the store manager, district manager and their home office with zero response. If they are going to be in a residential area, they need to be a good neighbor. We've had as many as three units at one time down in the Rancho Mirage public storage. They've been absolutely great. Alyssa and Nancy have both been incredible. With setting us up with storage, with following up and finally with closing two of our three units as we finally organized our stuff after a move. I've worked with four different Public Storage facilities and Rancho Mirage is hands down the best...because of the folks who work there! read more

UPDATE: Received a notice that our monthly rate would be going up 40% (over 1,000 a year!). When I inquired about options to avoid this I was told that I could either 1. Reduce the size of the space (not possible for us) or 2. Request a rate increase delay. We did the request and were denied. A regional supervisor said there was no one in the entire company that is able to make an exception, their hands were tied by the "algorithm" that determines the rate. The facility and staff are still wonderful but BEWARE that your rate can significantly increase with only 30 days notice. Very disappointed that Public Storage has chosen to maximize profits over retaining customers. read more

Getting there: Located off the 111 hwy in Rancho Mirage. There is minimal parking outside the gates incase you need to head into the office. Experience: This storage unit was very easy to get setup. The woman who helped my inside the office was very friendly and made sure to tell me everything I needed to know. It was easy to find my unit and gain access. The only thing that I was bummed about was my previous lock that I purchased from a Public Storage unit, I was unable to use on this unit. read more

I had a pleasant experience at this Public Storage. I needed a storage unit as soon as possible and this location had a few available at the time. I arrived and was greeted by Raymond- very friendly and talkative employee at Public Storage. He seemed really easy going so I felt comfortable asking questions. He helped me find a unit that would best fit my needs. He also brought up how the wind causes sand and dirt to get inside the outdoor units, and he recommended the indoor units. I did decide to go with an indoor unit to protect my things. What I did not appreciate- was the false advertising from the company on the website. The website states first month is only $1 to move-in. It failed to mention some bogus administration fee and the charge/fee for the keys and bolt lock. This was annoying to me. I also discovered that they require you to have insurance on your storage unit so that added an additional $10 every month. I am just annoyed with the false advertising that Public Storage does. I mean my move-in cost was $100 just to move-in, get keys, and with all the hidden taxes and fees. How does that make any sense when it was supposed to be $1??? Also, just a heads up, they might advertise half off first month or deals like that, but when you get there they will tell you the deal is only for the more expensive unit. It's an up-selling gimmick. Annoying!!! I don't know. I don't like the scamming nature. But my stuff is still here for the time being until I can move it out. I'm hoping that will be soon. read more

We vacated this unit on June 5 and left the lock and key inside the unit. it is ready to occupy by a new tenant. We have been unable to reach anyone on the service team to close our account and partially refund the June 2 payment. This is lousy service. read more

The customer service is terrible No one is staffing the office and you are on your own to get any help. in addition, the cell service is terrible so you have to call the phone number for customer service from the very back of the parking lot to get any reception. read more

I went into the Rancho mirage location on Hwy 111 today. I had called beforehand and spoken to a nice lady name, Nancy on the phone to make sure someone was present to walk me through my paperwork for my storage unit. She said that she would be there when I arrived, and when I arrived, she was indeed there and was waiting with my paperwork to make it a smooth process. Nancy was very helpful was showing me where my unit was located along with giving me a print out of my gate code as well. customer service was amazing at this location and I will be happy to continue renting from it read more

If you choose to store there just know that your items are not safe. I had a unit there for over 10 years, and after the manager Steve retired in 2021, someone else took over. They had a broken lock to the door outside and it was not repaired for over 3 months, if not longer. They also kept an additional key to my unit as both keys had not been provided to me when they changed a lock for me that was not working correctly. The manager at that time Steve gave me a lock with one key- it was late in the day and my lock was jammed...so I got a new lock from him...the extra key was never provided, but remained in the office. Steve retired from there about 6 months after that in 2021. The new person took over for a short time, and I think it may have been related to her but cannot accuse without proper proof as I had left a message with them saying I was concerned about their broken locks. When I came back to collect my items three months after that phone message in Oct 2021, everything was gone but the lock was perfectly closed up. My entire unit had been ransacked and I lost all our family heirlooms. The district manager behaved in a very 'suspicious' manner, and when the police interviewed him he provided them with all 'fraudulent' information regarding who he thought may have done it. Fake address, name, and CDL were all not matching anything.....It was all very masked, they refused to run the supposed 'camera' footage for that period, no one helped at all after ten years of storing items and giving the company thousands of dollars.. I would not trust them to provide a safe environment, and I do think it was a complete inside job. Corporate never reached out to me. Sad to have to write this, but be super careful if you value your items. read more

Don't be fooled by the $1 first month BS. I made a reservation for a 5 X 5 unit online with an introductory rate of $1. Upon arrival that price skyrocketed to $54.00 for the first month. What they don't tell you on their website is that they will level three additional charges on you up front. The first is a $24.00 "administration fee". The second is mandatory insurance at $11.00 per month. The third is the lock that you must purchase from them for $19.00 (No, an ordinary padlock will not work at Public Storage, and the lock they sell you won't work anywhere else). If I hadn't been in such a jam, I would have skipped this business and looked for a more honest pricing scheme in their competitors. read more

Our unit was broken into. The individuals used a code to enter property, used a code to enter building, and drilled out our lock and stole thousands of dollars worth of items. This facility did not call the police. They apparently can't track what code was used. Their cameras can't zoom in on plates on vehicle. This happened on Christmas Day. Apparently they called us a couple times, we have no record of voicemails. We received a call on January 31 and they informed us that we had been broken into. We are more upset about the fact that the storage facility takes NO RESPONSIBILITY. Your items are not safe here. They don't have proper security to keep your items secure. They don't have a system to track codes, they don't have a good camera system and they don't feel it's important to report when someone breaks into your unit and steals things. When I asked the employee why they did not call the police, she said. " That's your job". read more

Alma was professional, friendly and thorough. She took us to the unit, demonstrated how to enter and unlock the unit and then had me unlock and lock the unit. Once we agreed to rent the unit, she prepared the necessary paperwork. She then carefully reviewed the paperwork with me for accuracy prior to having me initial and sign. Once the transaction was done, she walked us out and had me enter our assigned code so that I could test the opening of the security gate. We will have no hesitation referring family and friends in need of storage because of our experience! read more
