Let's face it, renting a storage unit comes with lots of extra feelings. You don't typically rent a storage unit because you've got a great big house with a garage and everything you need to store it there. So when looking for a Storage Unit, customer service is always very important to me, you never know what someone's going through and moving is already such a hassle. I reviewed just about all of the storage facility options in the Coachella Valley, and eventually decided to go with this location. Customer Service was a big reason for that, Erica, who is the site manager was extremely helpful and efficient with time. She took me around to various units to decide which one would work best for me, I felt no anxiety when I asked questions and she was happy to open any unit that I wanted to see. After choosing the one I like the best, I called back to see if, there was a better rate possible. Erica, let me know. She worked out an offer for me that I couldn't refuse and signed the paperwork for my unit that day. I'm very grateful for the service I received, and very satisfied with the unit that I chose. I do NOT recommend Devon Self Storage. They market a 20' x 20' storage unit, but what they delivered was TWO separated 10' x 20' units, which were completely inadequate for my storage needs. I needed the units connected, side by side. Their website markets a 20' x 20'; their graphic shows a 10' by 40'; and they deliver two separate 20' x 20' units. This is deceptive bait and switch marketing. I spoke to a regional manager who claimed that this was industry practice. I am forced to take my items for all my units at this facility to another company, incurring additional costs. Delivering 400 sq feet of storage across 2 (or 4) units is NOT the same thing as delivering an advertised 20' x 20' unit. read more

BEWARE! My unit was broken into and many of our valuables are now LOST FOR GOOD. Appears to be an INSIDE JOB as so many other people who have stored their belongings have had their units broken into. When I asked for the security camera footage the crack ho manager told me the "cameras weren't working". Also they keep a dog in a shit covered area right before you pull into the storage unit. I've been using Devon storage for five years and finally downsize to the perfect size I contacted the office the first part of January and asked if I could move to a different unit February 1. Mario was excellent on the phone very knowledgeable helped me with the process on the day of Moving. Good Afternoon, Let me start with how nice the landscape looked, Gene Autry is a main thoroughfair thru Palm Springs, lots to look at, and I thought if its as presentable on the outside, well thats a great start! Storage units dont usually have landscaping which caught my attention.... I needed something effortless, no pressure to get more space than needed . Well great decision here.... The very nice, KIND, PROFESSIONAL GENTLEMEN behind the counter listened to what I needed, I used a little corner to describe, and he said we will start small and go up from there..... he promptly took me to exactly what i needed and said there is also a move in special ( even on a small unit which was completely affordable in the first place) and Pro Rated for the middle of the month !! My total move in cost for unit, admin fee. and mandantory insurance $ 55.00 !! Another bonus Gate opens 6am -10pm ..... oh the Gentlemen in charge MARIO... I had mission completed in 30 minutes ......effortless, affordable, and the Mario part....... Perfectly located between Hwy 111 and Dinah Shore. Even when my unit is loaded...I will find something else to chat with Mario about !! read more

Tired of storage unit companies coming in, buying my storage unit, increasing its price, changing the rental agreement, offering me ZERO value or gain from their new ownership, and then they act like they've done me a favor. DEVON does not deserve to increase what I pay just because their new name is on the door now. What DEVON has done or plans to do with the location is not worth a price increase at all frankly. DEVON comes off 100% predatory and I don't trust them whatsoever, you shouldn't either. read more

Our first time ever needing a storage unit. Did check out several others in the area and this one being the closes with compreble price we chose Devon. The on site manager was very helpful and friendly. She explained the whole setup. Took us out to look at a couple of units to determine the size we needed. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the area. Also they have just about all extral material on site for moving and storage.....from boxes to locks. Very easy access by push gate code. Well monitored and very convenient hours. I feel safe with our "things" stored there. I will recommend this business. read more

The representative was very unprofessional, disinterested & somewhat rude. I did not get a truck since my contact didn't answer. UHaul approved it after I left. I wasted more than 2 hours & all the arrangements I had got ruined, which cost me for a helper for that day anyway. The rep in the office could have resolved it but didn't help, didn't care, and didn't answer his phone even when UHaul called him about it. Although UHaul approved it anyway after I left, they made it the shortest period of 3.5 hours (which costs the same). I recommend avoiding UHaul. They can't be counted on. They don't care about their customers or what happens to them. read more

Let's face it, no one likes money year after year to store stuff but sometimes it is simply inevitable. With that said, this storage facility location (where I have been for more than 15 years) is simply the best now that is owned and/or operated by Devon. Krystal is the best manager ever at this location and makes it much easier to deal with the depressing nature of having and paying for a storage unit. In order to cut down on my monthly storage costs, I decided to finally move into a smaller-size unit and Krystal did a marvelous job in making the transition as smooth as possible. This facility is clean, secure, has great access hours for customers, and I feel safe keeping my stuff at this location. read more

I have rented at the Pasadena location for over two years. This past month I was late on my payment, which resulted in my unit being padlocked and my gate access being revoked. No big deal, I was aware of those policies. My issue is that even several days after payment had been made, the padlock was not removed. I am in the process of moving and had spent money to rent a truck and had scheduled help to remove my furniture from storage, all of which were wasted efforts as I was denied access to my unit. I have made two calls to the property and NO ONE has gotten back to me about why this occurred or what can be done to correct it. So now I'm out a truck rental, and help to move my belongings, something I can't possibly do alone. There has been zero concern about me as a customer or my experience. For the last several months it has been impossible to make my payments on time due to the website constantly having errors and phone calls to the property to going unanswered or returned. This Devon self storage facility in Palm Springs Ca, Is all about nickel-&-diming The customers* I moved in here in May of 2017* 9#months go by they increase my rent* now 9# more months go by & they did it again* that's 2# rent increases in only 18#months of time* plus the place is less valuable now then when I moved In* The first red flag was when I moved in* The woman that lives there & manages the place told me I would have 24-hour access, I come back the next day at 4# in the morning & I'm denied access on the keypad* The #2/Red Flag which is so unprofessional They leave out the DeWalt cordless Grinder for cutting off customer locks when they fall behind on rent* They leave out in plain View to send a message pay up on time or your lock will be cut off* A professional place would have that stored away* they hide The general managers phone number, I had to go through hell to get it* when I get him on the phone, I told him what she told me why I don't have 24-hour access* she said & I quote the facility did an audit & took it away/ The 24-hour Access from everybody* That's total B/S* so this so-called regional manager asked me why Do I need 24-hour access & I explained to him that I am self-employed, I go to estate sales & I live in San Diego Ca, & I get up early in The morning & I buy stuff throughout The state of California & neighboring states, I need access & if you don't give me that access I don't want to be a customer, so he went ahead & reinstated my 24 hour access/So I decided to stay, then the next B/S story, I am told by this woman in the office* The 3rd# red flag, I noticed that all the electrical outlets were now covered, again me being self-employed I work with hand tools, that was an Ace in the Hole for me* I say they took it away to save money on electricity, but of course they lied & said some customer shorted out the system & caused A blackout* so if that's true you decided to take away something other customers could use, for one idiot* I say it's a made-up story* The fourth red flag & I see why a customer complained about his furniture being ruined, the rubber trim at the bottom of the door on the units is all dry rotted & cracked & needs to be replaced this is letting in the severe sand & dust he talked about in his Yelp review* It was this way when I moved in & it's still this way now two years later* So now I got to go through the hassle & move the hell out of there* because it's nothing but a money grab* I had a place At Storage West in Las Vegas for #7 & A 1/2 years & they only increased my rent twice in that #7 &1/2 years !!! Filthy Dirty Horrible Within 2 weeks all my furniture was covered in sand I wish i could leave no stars, Be wise to many fake five star reviews, There is no way!!! This is the worst facility i have ever used! Not only was it filthy but they raised the rent continually every year or so until i was paying more than double what i started at!!!! Then when i called and asked them the prices anonymously they quoted me a much lower rate, I confronted them and they said the longer you are here the higher the price goes, That's ridiculous!!! Of course it took me years to move my items because i had accumulated so much, and they know its hard to move so chances are you will stay. Everything was destroyed by the sand and dirt and spider webs literally covering it like it was in a sand storm, Don't be fooled by the clean unit when they show them to you, They probably cleaned it that morning, Had i known this i would never have rented here! I rented a new unit for less that half the price elsewhere that is much more protected from the sand. This place is a dump..... and i am so happy to be gone from there for good! I give this place 5 stars because I just recently moved from Los Angeles to Palm Springs and it was a nightmare. I had truck issues, moving date issues, you name it. I had to get a storage unit because my new place does not have a garage but I wasn't even sure how much space I needed or exactly when I was going to be moving until the last minute. Krystal and Karen were SOOOOO helpful at every turn, incredibly flexible and willing to work with my pain in the butt schedule. Great access, friendly staff. I couldn't have asked for more.
