Horrible place to store your belongings. First off they raised my rent from $54 to $78 after two months and then to $98 after three more months without telling me. No reason other than just wanted to. I went online and saw they were renting the same size unit for $37/month. I was told that's just to get people in the door. Great way to treat a customer that's been using Public Storage for 5 years. They have no carts there for you to use. I've had to let the workers know that someone pissed in the elevator. read more

Corporate public storage STOLE MY MONEY!NEVER EVER get auto pay on your account ! When i moved out, corporate still stole an extra month from me!!!! And not only that, they doubled my account saying its insurance! I dont need their SHAM of insurance! I have my own and i told them that! This is like six months late but still applicable as I'm still at the location I left this place for. I called four days ago and was told I would be contacted within 24-48 hours and heard nothing so I found a new storage company. Public Storage is back to trying to charge me $180 for a 5 by 7. That's too much. Inflation is already impacting my life. I called and asked if they could do anything and they will not. The extension to keep your price as is only apparently will (not can but totally in decision of staff) not allow it more than once. The staff don't try to accommodate and you are literally only a form of payment and nothing more. Most staff have an attitude. I'm sorry if your job isn't ideal or people treat you badly but having a crap attitude sure is a deterrent for me. So I'll take my stuff and my money with me. I found an Extra Space Storage on Indian School that will lock my fee in place if I pay ahead so done. Donavan at Extra Space Storage was great - highly recommend. read more

Public Storage - Moving day - Self Storage Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Don't get sucked in by the online specials!   This location will be the second public storage facility I have used in two completely separate states. Both were located next to MLB ballparks, which I incorrectly assumed would provide a more pleasant experience. The truth was anything but.   One of the main scenarios to prepare yourself for is that you will be under constant surveillance while in or around the facility. Assuming you're using the locker you rent more frequently than once a month, just know that personnel will be placed at lockers near yours to keep an eye on your activities. Develop a pattern or repeated timeframe, then meet your new neighbors. This behavior is a given and seems to be the stance that Public Storage takes regarding renters they deem of interest. I've personally been placed in multiple scenarios where individuals of Caucasian decent would time my comings and goings into the facility, approach the door, and walk into the warehouse without inputting the necessary credentials normally required to gain access to the building.   I've attempted to voice these concerns with the Public Storage staff, only to be questioned regarding the frequency of these situations, with no assistance given to actually problem-solve the concerns I raised. To put it simply "deal with it or leave".   Last but certainly not least is the rental time frame. The unit is reserved as of the 1st of the month, not a nanosecond before. The total is not prorated to reflect a payment made after that date. So if, like me, you reserve the unit on the 2nd week of the month, you're essentially losing 14 days of rental time.   Ultimately, this experience is completely voluntary. No one forced me to reserve a unit with Public Storage, but the convenience of the location ultimately drew me in. But its policies and obvious racial profiling have made me no longer able to continue to be a customer. Overall, this place is not the best place to go if you're of African descent. There are other locations that value not only your business but will also treat you in a respectful manner. As you can see from my other reviews, I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately. However! At great personal risk to myself, I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. But always do your own research! *Update* In a direct act of retaliation shortly after this review was posted I came to find out my locker was opened with out me present. read more

it was a lot to try to get moved in. No one in office so we had to unload without a cart to the second floor. Facility was clean and it is a safe space for sure but it would be helpful if office hours were posted and staff was available, we were there at 9:30 am on a Thursday. I did speak to someone beforehand that said they were transferring my call to my storage facility but I ended up speaking to someone in Wisconsin. On our second trip the office was staffed. Moving the remainder of my belongings this weekend and hopeful that it will not be as difficult. read more

Recently moved in to a storage unit at this facility. It wasn't quite big enough for me so I transferred to an even larger one. Both Ben and Deanna were incredibly helpful with this and got me in the unit I wanted in no time! Pros: I haven't tested at all hours of the day, but I believe it is 24 hour access unlike several other storage units around town. There is an app that comes in pretty handy including a Bluetooth feature to open the access doors. They have units of all sizes and many available on the first floor. They also have elevator access if on the second floor. As mentioned above, the staff are very friendly! Cons: If you don't know your way around downtown, this facility can be tricky to get to. Jefferson is one way and the business access lane is separated by the light rail, so you better know when to get over. I usually just access it off of 9th Street and avoid all of this, but even still you have to know exactly where you are going and how to get there. read more

STAY AWAY. I was at this location when it was "SmartCube." Never had any issues with them. Public Storage took over the building and removed access to the back gate unless you were storing a car there. However, my unit was directly off of the back elevator so it was easier to load/unload. When I called and asked about this I was told that I could not access the back gate any longer since I wasn't storing a car. That area is not ONLY for car storage. So I was forced to enter through the front of the building and walk all the way to the back to access my storage. Very inconvenient. Then carts are only available during business hours of 9am-6pm? Why not send a notice about that when you made that decision so I didn't have to make 8,000 trips back and forth up and down the elevator to move my things out? Store elsewhere. read more

This is fine establishment except for the ride lady who is the cleaner the cleaning lady was very rude, short and unfriendly as can be. I swear why the custodian can treat customers in such a matter is beyond me. I think it could do much better if they hired another person for that job! read more

This place is horrible to rent from. You would think with the location and the set up it would be better accommodating. They will literally have you standing outside to get in because know one is ever in the office. Ypu ha e to bring your items into a man door which is fine, but they do not have carts or dollies to remedy this inconvenience. When asked they were stolen but never replaced. They do not have accessible to restrooms, probably due to the unhoused people that actually live in their storage areas. This place is poorly managed and they increase your rent without accommodations for the customer. Yes I have to step over homeless people in the walkways when I go to this place. read more

They left out the fact that my lock was on the inside of my unit. All I had to do is twist the blue plastic lock to get inside. So I went up and down the elevator a couple times until I found their employee who told me what to do. Otherwise it was a simple process. read more

When we moved into this storage building over 5-1/2 years ago, it was Cube Smart. They were about as good as you could ever expect from a storage place. It changed to Public Storage 14 months ago and it has been awful ever since. I just changed to another storage place today to get as far away from them as possible. Issues: - Over the 4+ years that it was Cube Smart, they raised our costs by $40. Since Public Storage took over, they've raised our rates twice, for a total of almost $90 more. That's almost a 50% increase in a year. - They lock up the carts, (which Cube Smart never did), and if the manager isn't in the office, (which is quite often), you have no good way to get your heavy stuff into your unit. - When the manager is out, (which is very often), the office is locked and there is no sign letting you know when he'll be back. Today, we waited over a half-hour and it was long past lunch time. - The cleanliness of the place has gone completely off the rails since Public Storage took over. It's just not a place you want to be anymore. - There are two units near me where people are living. I see them at all hours of the day, including getting dressed in the corridors. This makes me wonder a lot about security. Do NOT rent from this place. There are many other better, cheaper places within the downtown Phoenix area. read more

We had an inside unit and they cut the lock off stole tools out of the unit then called me to ask if I did it with a camera right there looking at the unit. They also turn you into a collections agency before calling or telling you if you owe money. Sorriest service and control I have ever used. read more

No carts to transport items. Booked online and was given a unit on 2nd floor about as far away from the elevator as you can be. Showed up to move things and found there were no carts as they had all been stolen. Luckily I was able to find a friend with a hand truck I could borrow. Another person had a pick up full of things he was bringing in one by one. Would have chosen another storage location if I had known. Before entering the unit I asked if I could just be refunded my money and was told maybe, but I would have to pay $30 for the lock which I hadn't been given yet! read more

I believe the guys name is jake at the front desk who gives off very racist vibes. He's disrespectful and very aggressive. He charged at me once he saw I came in the building without typing my code in because I forgot my code and he's lucky I didnt knock his head off for jumping at me like that . I keep a pistol on me and when I went to report his ass the manager above him took what I said as a threat because I said I felt threatened and will retaliate next time he aggressively runs towards me again . I don't give a fuck don't aggressively run up on and you won't get attacked but it was all good and gravy when he nearly attacked me though right? Let this be the last time y'all crackers play with me and this is my last rent payment for this place especially Paying a 5x15 for $180!!!!! I've been paying this for a year. Catalytic converter was stolen from our RV here over the holidays. The contract makes them not liable for this, and they do not offer additional insurance on parking storage that covers this, so you are on your own. Manager Nicole was very nice and helpful, and notified me as soon as they discovered the theft. She was able to get me partial refund of rental, but was very little compared with the cost of the repair. I am happy with her customer service, but very disappointed that it happened on their property. read more
