Despite the recent fires, the property manager and Trace did an excellent job keeping us updated throughout the situation. I was very fortunate that my unit was not affected and remained intact. Whenever I called for updates, they always followed up the same day or by the next. And whenever I stopped by, they were always willing to answer my questions with patience and kindness. I do wish the insurance coverage was higher than $5k, but aside from that, I haven't experienced any issues that would warrant a lower rating. Thank you for the great customer service! read more

Nothing good they keep saying because you use your code on the first you have to pay the whole month so now I'm paying a whole month for free and not using a space because there has been nobody there a week before my past due date so it keeps scamming thank you. They jacked up my rent 40% after the first 5 months. 9 months later they raised it 27% on top of that. I get that rent goes up every year - I expect it. But jacking it up 78% in 14 months is just predatory. Get all your stuffed move in, then they have you by the balls. And clearly the price hikes aren't going into more/new carts. Every time I go there are fewer available. Also feels like you're going to punch through the second floor in some spots. Looks like they just painted over the sections of busted plywood. read more

Following a fire at this facility on July 23, 2025 I have not been able to get into my storage unit to find out if my possessions were affected by the fire. Public Storage has dragged its feet cleaning up the debris from the fire. They have a nonchalant attitude about the whole thing. Imagine how you would feel not being able to see if your possessions are okay or damaged. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH PUBLIC STORAGE. Finding a person working at this company is a lot tougher then you'd think it would be. I drove ro work bouncing back and forth between the fist full of public storage place sorta on my way to work. I did it for 3 days and I'd stop at e place while on my way in and all 3 days at all 3 places there was nobody there or I'd see them way down at the end in a golf cart doing I don't know what. Anyway I finally got one and was able to give them my money, there all pretty nice but God damn are they out of the office a lot. It's not like I go to work early before they open, I start around 11:00AM. Please be around to take my money, its the least you can do after you cheap door allowed somebody to snip the lock hoop with a pair of finger nail trimmers. I lost about 3 grand in photography lighting and other lenses and studio equipment. read more

Only after 3 months we were given notice were receiving a rent increase due March 1st. We're going over this morning to finish emptying the unit and give it back to them , not even a 5 or 10 dollar increase they want an additional $36 a month all I can say if your in a pinch look elsewhere or be prepared to move it around. I rented from the one in Montgomery TX. They are a bate and switch company. Their also predatory in charges. $23.00 per day late fee. Their advertised price per unit is before taxes, monthly lock fee (you have to use their locks) and mandatory insurance. So for example: if you see online storage for $89.00 per month after all the other listed items are added it will turn into $138.00 per month. The gate sticks open sometimes, so if it's after hours it remains open until the next day. Anyone can enter. Lights are burnt out and not replaced right away , so you need a flashlight to see in your locker. Needless to say I moved out. the only star worthy portion of this experience was the person behind the counter who was very nice. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE!!! I rarely write reviews but this last week with Public Storage in Orange (Main St) has been a nightmare. The customer service lacks professionalism and it all started when they claim they did not receive our payment. After trying to contact the corporate office multiple times, we went on THEIR website to make another payment - after a few days, Public Storage claims this was returned NSF. After contacting our bank (Chase bank) there is no record of the transaction which the bank view is Public Storage applied the funds to another bank account and charged us the fee. If you are looking for a storage unit, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Moved all day with hired help and I was exhausted! Got there at 5:35 pm and no one in the office. Waited there for 30 min until finally the lady came around the corner and said were closed come back tomorrow. I've been renting with public storage on and off for about 6 years. Can't believe this lady was off doing who knows what and then won't even help me get a unit!! I had a trailer full so I had to go home and back it in my driveway and unhook it LOADED with tools. Now I have to worry about someone stealing my tools tonight. It's an open trailer. Total BS!! Huge company so of course they don't care about loosing 1 sale. This is a very disappointing business and unprofessional on a Corporate level. After signing a contract that says they will not raise your storage costs without letting you know first, they did the opposite. All of their autopay and communication is through email. However, when they arbitrarily decide to raise the rent rate of a customer that pays on time every month, they sneakily do it through a letter in the mail. Or so they claim. I never received any letter from them. All I noticed were the charges to my credit card had increased. This is a shady backdoor business practice and the people in charge could not care less that they treat their customers poorly. Let me clarify - the interactions I have had with the staff at the storage facility on Collins ave, have all been pleasant. When I called to address my overcharging concerns, I spoke with Kara who was understanding. After I explained what was happening, she agreed with me and passed it on to her manager colleague, Kyle. He was also understanding for the most part and "submitted a request" to the District Manager. Got a call back from Kyle saying the DM did not approve this request. I had to ask for a name and number of this supposed manager - this all after a week's worth of calling back and forth. This is how the corporate company culture works here. They deflect and put you through the ringer and avoid giving you any customer service at all costs. I finally did speak to the DM - Morgan Wade, who was rather curt. Made it feel like I was on her time instead of treating me as a paying customer. I explained (for the tenth time) that they had overcharged me with no proper notice. All I was looking for was a small credit to my account as per the contract that I signed. Apparently, this is too much for a company that does not care about their customers. Do not store your items here. Go to a place where they treat you with respect. read more

Collins Ave. in Orange is a very dangerous location. Someone broke into my storage unit there and cleaned it out. Irreplaceable family items and memorabilia. Public Storage placed their own lock on my space, but seem to have no recollection as to when this occurrence took place. I immediately called the police and when the staff was questions they flat out told the officer that someone on their end obviously dropped the ball. I'm meeting with a detective tomorrow over at the Orange police station as it's becoming increasingly clear that this was most likely an inside job. DO NOT ENTRUST THIS PUBLIC STORAGE LOCATION WITH YOUR PROPERTY. I found out the hard way. read more

I chose public storage because I thought it was the most affordable option but I regretted that decision when I learned that their bad reputation comes from overcharging. On a corporate level they have policies set up to get the most money out of you, such as 'requiring everyone to have insurance,' which adds on at least $10 a month from the listed prices (they conveniently provide insurance). They don't let you prorate any costs forcing you to pay for entire months at a time. Auto-pay nabs you at the beginning of the month without warning. No one should ever go to public storage when there are more affordable, nicer, and better customer service options at many nearby mom and pop shops. I have a situation with proof that I paid for a storage and someone else who helped me move from another state, put it in her name. I have much chronic pain so I let her go give what I thought was My information. It's in her name except for my bank card to pay it. The employees are not allowed to look at my proof. I may lose all my stuff now. I'm not even able to get information to talk to the CEO. The person who helped me move doesn't care either because she's like that, I have learned.! I like the fact that there's a gate in the front with a keypad combination that is not too easy to crack. The storage units have locks, and we are lucky that ours is located on the inside of the building (there are units on the outside as well as some on the inside which require and additional lock). However, the lights are only in the hallways for the inside units. There is no light inside the unit itself, which makes for a pain to load/unload at night. read more

WARNING! Your unit is not safe here and other older Public Storage locations. My unit and 3 others were broken into in one month. Units are constantly being burglarized and has been happening for a long time. There are no video cameras for the inside units and the outside video cameras do not work well. I came across this storage facility when I was moving from Lake Forest to Orange and it was in a convenient spot from my new apartment. I moved in the middle of January and there was an elevator that was out of service. I was told that the elevator would be fixed by the end of January before I signed the contract, and even told the girl 'GOOD, because Im moving out of my place the beginning of February'. She said, 'oh yes it will be fixed by then'. Fast forward to my moving date- 2/8/19. I show up to the storage unit with my younger brother to get a couple tools out of my unit before we pick up the uhaul. We go to look at the proximity of the elevator to my storage unit and its not being sent up. So we go to the desk and the guy that was there said 'oh its not fixed yet, were hoping by Monday'. I tell him, thats not acceptable, Im moving today and I was assured that the elevator would be fixed by the end of January-well before my move in date. He said 'I dont normally work here but I can give you the district managers number. So he did and I began calling her. I called her everyday for a week and a half, left voicemails everyday and never heard a response. Because of the elevator not being fixed, not only did I have to pay for the day of the UHaul rental, but I had to hire MOVERS the next day to move my heavy items such as my bed, dresser, couches, etc UP STAIRS. This is totally unacceptable and because of this, I am out $500 from the cost of movers. I was hoping to get some resolution from the district manager, Lorraine, but since I havent received any phone call from her, this is my next option. There are two other public storages less than a mile away from the one I rented at and had I known this was going to be such a problem I wouldve rented a unit elsewhere. read more

I've been with Public Storage for over 5 years now and while my unit isn't at this location, I went into this store to make a payment. The Manager women was one of the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life. She told me my payment was declined and I went outside to call my bank and they said the payment never went through their system. So I walked back in and asked her to manually punch in my card, as my bank requested and she gave me attitude. She told me if I needed to make a payment again in the future not to come back. I told her if I was in the area, I'd be back to make a payment. The payment went through but her attitude didn't improve she was very ugly. We went back and forth for a little bit and I'd walked out of the store she followed me out to my car! Told me that if I came back at 6 o'clock that she would kick my ass. Unreal, I've never had anyone threaten me before so I'm honking my horn because I'm scared of this mad woman. I immediately called the corporate office to file a complaint against the manager and was transferred to a number of voicemails. I called corporate back and told them not to send me to another persons voicemail, that I had been threatened by one of your managers and I needed to speak to a live person. Now I'm getting attitude from the operator so I left my voicemails and waited. 45 minutes later I got a call back and filed a full report was supposably taken from the district manager for the Orange Area, Tiffany and she told me she was going to go to the store to watch the video. I never received a call back or follow up call, no apologies or anything. Do not make the same mistakes I've made and avoid this place at all costs. By the way they've raised my rent 3-4 times now, so you know how that goes. read more
