They do that so to collect late fee They target customers who have good paying records and always use auto pay. this way they can charge Late fee because customer is not watching and hit by the late fee and it's too late l Public storage's business practice is FRAUD! I am calling the storage national association an investigation of the Public Storage billing practice: I have encountered four consecutive reset of my autopay for my storage unit in Mckinney, TX lately. I have been always autopay for the entire 2 yrs with Public Storage. Since June,23, my account autopay has been tinkered without my authorization. My bill became due and overdue. I was notified the last minute and found supprisingly my autopay was cancelled. This has been repeated since June, July, August and Sept. Each time when I caught it, I set it to autopay again. In August I had to pay a late fee of $35 more because I was one day late (again the autopay was cancelled without my authorization) I am asking an investigation of the Public Storage billing practice nation wide and specifically the Mckinney, TX store odd behavior or tinker customer accounts. read more

I rented my unit in October at the rate of $217 a month. March comes and I receive an email stating that my rent is going up to $269, but there's no explanation. So I scheduled my move out for April 2nd, I receive a call stating it is best I move out before April 1 because if I don't I will be responsible for the full months rent. No proration for the 2 days. Several of my friends and acquaintances stated that Public Storage did them the exact same thing. Be warned!! I will never use Public Storage again. read more

I've had my unit on auto pay for years and never really looked at it. Didn't notice they slowly double and triple the payment year after year without warning. Awful people from the property manager all the way up to the escalation people. Terrible. I will never use public storage again. They raise rent for no reason within the year, no complaint. Buyer Beware, They will increase your rent amount without warning, and when you do call to keep your original price -- even if you've only had your unit for 3-4 months -- they tell you they'll keep your price for a few months but you are charged anyway. So they tell you one thing and do another. They're terrible at answering the phone. Just rent somewhere else, honestly. I talked to a guy the other day at the facility, he was cleaning out his stuff because someone in the office called and threatened to auction his stuff FOUR DAYS after a missed payment. Be careful if you store your items at this location. We moved storages because we noticed bugs were in our boxes. They claim there an exterminator out every month but it's hard to believe a climate control facility has bugs. Also there was a light out for 5 months and is still out that they claim it's been a work order for 5 months. I don't understand if your making all that money off storage then take care of your facility. Slumlords are greedy these days. read more

This is the first time I needed to use a storage facility and the process to sign up and pay was so simple. I didn't think it could get any easier and then I went to take my first load and that was so easy too. The lady there was so helpful and showed me how to use the app to open gates, doors and unlock the elevator. I feel my things will be safe and secure here. Very clean, the app is very self explanatory and easy to use, customer service was ok, the attendant was on the phone when I checked in and she didn't acknowledge me until after her phone call and it seem like she was on a personal call but I could be mistaken, afterwards her attitude was very helpful so she made up for it in the end.c the maps were easy to understand. read more

Overpriced! I was informed that they are adjusting prices. From 329, my monthly went up to 402/month! What a huge jump! I made a reservation for May 2nd (Two weeks prior to when I needed it). So they called me and asked if I wanted to see the unit. (Which we didn't even see). We then when through the process of purchasing the storage unit. Which I still thought was for May 2nd. After paying they told me the unit was mine now and I started my service. Which is not what I asked for. They then said that they could only partially give me a refund because in the contacted there's a non refundable one time administrative fee. So I asked can I get my money back and when I need the unit in MAY you can wave the one time administrative fee. (Since I just paid it) They said no. I would then have to pay the fee again! I felt hoodwinked and they communicated poorly. I asked for a manager and he told me he was the manager but he could give me the number of the area manager. I had to call her 4 times over the course of two days and it went to voicemail every time. She did call me back but she said "you already signed" I told her she lost my business because of this situation and she said Okay.... So I'll take my 24 months of storage else where. read more

Pros: The facilities are REALLY clean, including the bathroom!! The staff is really friendly and patient! The storage unit itself is clean and exactly as described. Cons: The reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to lack in communication of "hidden fees". I spoke with staff over the phone, looked online and paid attention to all the emails I got from them. I was expecting to pay the $1 + $24 one time admin fee. What I was never told about or aware of is the cost of their lock, which is an additional $21 and change and they REQUIRE you to carry insurance...the lowest available is $11/mo. If you don't accept their insurance you cannot complete the rental process, had I known ahead of time I would have purchased my own at a MUCH lower cost. I ended up paying almost 2.5x as much as I originally expected in total. read more

Now at a 100 dollar increase in 2 years. And this isn't a first floor unit, but many floor up. Moving everything out, should have done it sooner just got lazy. Unless you plan in moving your stuff within a year, chose somewhere else and don't fall for what appear to be low rates (price will be higher than all the other storage facilities within the year) . Also, in the summer the place is not kept cool, despite being equipped with ac, which can damage furniture. You start to sweat if in there for more than a few minutes. read more

Place is awful. When signing up for a storage unit, I brought a $20 lock that they made me purchase at the old one I was renting. So I brought it with me for this one. Guy goes oh you have to use this lock (different style) and my dog could've realized he was lying, because it was obvious. Than the kicker, when finalizing everything he said "we require all people to have our insurance on their unit and here are your options." And because he's an idiot he provided me the little book explaining the insurance that offer. The first thing it says in the tiny print is "you're not required to purchase our insurance." Called him out on it and he didn't know what to say for about 30 seconds, so he called some lady over, I'm assuming someone telling him to lie. She said "we do require people to have insurance on rental units" --- ohh ok. Now they email us and say they have increased the rent on our unit to $60. And we have the 2nd smallest unit, on the 3rd floor! I have to imagine they take advantage of you because they know you don't wanna move all your stuff. We've rented for only 4 months. It's like pulling teeth to unload stuff in and out every time we go. Because there is no where to park close enough. Absolutely horrible experience. These people need to be shut down! read more

Within one month of the sweetheart monthly rate designed to lure me in, they raised it $15/mo, and just raised it another $13/mo. We signed a contract with Public Storage for a year after they advertised a certain price with a "lock in your rate" tagline on the website. Well about 5 months in, they arbitrarily increased our monthly price without any notification whatsoever. When we asked them about this, they just said that they have the right to increase the price at any point. How is this ok? We are locked into a contract, so we can't just move our business elsewhere, but they can increase the price without even letting us know? I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

Lessor beware, gate hours applies to all codes onsite. Due to the automatic nature, my items were stuck in the elevator and my unit left open overnight. There is a women that lives onsite that asked me if I would be done by 9pm as that is when the gate locks, then went back to her apartment. When I rented my unit the staff were friendly enough, but at 5:59pm a women pulled into the parking spot in front as an employee was locking the door(they close at 6pm). The employee locked the door and ignored the women pulling at the door as he walked away. I will be moving out within the week. read more

This property is clean however they can't seem to figure out how the U.S. Postal service works. I pay everything from my bank account get online send money out and it's done... currently I made a payment Jan 10, 29, and Feb 13 figuring I would get a month ahead for good measure... I just received a call stating I was a month and a half behind... Which I'm not but they don't get their mail and was told that it would be better for me to pay another way or they were going to auction my things... Mind you I have proof that the payments were sent from my bank to theirs, and every other person I pay gets their payment either early or on time. Contacted corporate because at this point frankly it's ridiculous that a major company can't figure out how to get their mail and process payments. DO NOT RENT HERE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!! read more

On Dec 23rd I received notice that my next auto draft would be $275 when the monthly payment was $203. I tried calling and left messages on Dec 27th that I was not going to pay that price per month. I finally talked to someone in the Allen office on Jan 3rd and they said they would get with their district manager for a resolution. Allen office got back with me and said they would keep the rent at $203 so then I made the payment on 1/10/2022. Then I started to get harassed about not paying the late fee and the additional rent for January of $72 which was the increase they said would be removed. I told them I was not paying that because it was waived and it was not late due to the issue. Then they cut my lock on Jan 25th and filed a lein on Feb 1st for another $57. Now they want a total of $179 plus the Feb payment of $203 so I can get my stuff back and move away from Public Storage. The whole organization is ridiculous in every aspect. DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM THESE CROOKS. I was a customer since they built the place. read more

They don't prorate rent so if you move out any day past the 30th, for example the 3rd like me, you will be forced to pay for the entire month.
