Also, they advertise the first month free but never received.

We rented 2 units on the ground floor at the CubeSmart on 3179 Draper Dr., Fairfax, VA 22031, from…read more2022 to 2025. We found a live racoon in one of the units trying to escape while moving out. The racoon apparently lived in the unit for a while as we found many of our stored contents in the unit chewed and destroyed by feces and urine smell. The manager at the CubeSmart was helpful in filing our insurance claim as we signed up for SureSmart Protection Plan for $2,000. Now a month later the insurance company denied our claim and does not respond. Here is the frustrating part: they denied our claim alleging the damage was excluded from insurance coverage because it was done by "rodents". When I reiterated that the damage was done by a *racoon* (we sent picture of the racoon we found in our unit and feces-damaged furniture and equipment to support our claim) and a racoon is not a "rodent" the senior claims representative at the insurance company denied the claim again citing the content was not covered because it is "animals, birds or fish"!? When I reminded that the damaged contents were instead office equipment and furniture destroyed by racoon and sent a movie we took of the racoon trying to escape from my CubeSmart unit they stop communicating. So after paying $12/month for SureSmart Protection Plan for 2 and 1/2 years which would have defrayed a fraction of total damage I am left with no coverage and no communication. While the manager at the CubeSmart has been helpful the fact is a RACOON got into my CubeSmart storage unit; destroyed my stored equipment and furniture and my SureSmart Protection Plan did not cover anything. I do not recommend this place as their SureSmart Protection Plan did not work for me.

It is not often that you get great customer service nowadays. My first interactions were with Ell…read moreand Josh. Ell was very helpful and have a thorough explanation of the rental process and she did it with a genuine smile that you could feel that she was happy to assist without any hesitation. I was able to get the units I needed in the time frame I was looking for. I have to say that it was the team work between Josh and Ell that made that happen. Josh assisted and was able to find the units that were becoming available. He and Ell made this process such a delight when I was expecting it to be somewhat stressful with the time frame I had. Not only was this experience a breath of fresh air, but it continued each time I was at the facility. The maintenance and care of the facility is just as nice. Each time I have made a trip to my unit I see all of the crew doing something around the facility and each time they make eye contact and greet you with a smile. Josh was painting on one occasion and stopped what he was doing to acknowledge me and say good morning. You do not get this kind of acknowledgment anywhere these days and when you do it's definitely recognized. Thank you Josh, Ell and the other extremely kind and helpful maintenance helper that all I can remember is he has been with them for 4 years . I didn't want to get his name wrong. Keep up the great work and keep smiling . We need more experiences like these.

5 stars for the awesome onsite manager, and 2 stars for the unscrupulous, shyster of a company. The…read moremanager is professional, courteous, and patient which is noteworthy because his job can't be easy. The company over all is not the best. It's a money grab for them; service of any kind factors in little if at all with them, the payment app doesn't work, requiring you to use a AI service by phone which charges $1.95 to process your payment. This is not ethical. Their lack of competitive pricing evidences motive. Good thing the onsite manager provides a quality, customer experience and keeps the place is clean, and well maintained. The gate was broken each time I visited, but his job is to report it to the An unethical, unscrupulous owners who do nothing to remedy. I CANNOT RECOMMEND and WILL NOT USE AGAIN.

AVOID this COMPANY for Long Term Rentals AT ALL COST!…read more ***Please note, this review is based on the COMPANY'S policies ONLY! This review does NOT reflect the kindness and hard working employees of the Alexandria location. The manager Antwon is top notch. Any problems at the location are quickly resolved by Antwon and other staff members. I couldn't be happier with the staff. I take issue with the policies of the company. *** If you aren't frequently visiting your storage unit AVOID this COMPANY at all cost!!!! Currently I am paying way above market rate for my rental. I have tried working with the company for a reduced rate and they won't lower the bill after being with them for years. I was told the only way to reduce the rental fee is to move my contents to another unit. I understand this is their company and they can have whatever policies they want. I really want to make any future long term renter aware there are much cheaper options in the surrounding area, especially if won't visit your unit frequently. I have another unit in the surrounding area and the prices are much lower. Renting from this company has been a costly mistake and I want others to make an informed decision.

We purchased a 27x 10 space earlier in the week but when we got there today, the truck behind our space was overlapping into our space, making ours 24 feet. When talking to the guy working, his response was he can get the guy to move the truck up in the space( which he did a few inches and didn't help), try to switch with the neighbor but no answer or leave the premises with our boat. We paid for a 27 foot spot but it was really 23/24 feet.. but according to the guy working there, it was our fault to not test out the spot first to see if it fit. The guy reported the truck guy didn't want to move his truck and bc he has been there a whiland the working guy said nothing he could do about it but leave the facility. So we had to find a spot, at 7 pm, to be able to place our boat. Extremely disappointed in the staff and situation. I would not recommend this place at all. Waiting to talk to the owner/ manager about this as well.
