At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

When I called Karen was awesome and I was so excited for the service. Silly me. I have moved 10 times before this in as many years. This is BY FAR the worst experience I have had. I KNOW how long it takes to move my place. Not only did this take more than TWICE as long with allegedly a whole other person, they brought a fourth unauthorized guy. And still took more than half the time. One guy sat in the truck most of the time, I have pictures, the others didn't start on my kitchen until the end, had to wait for that....later to find out when I went back to the old apartment they hadn't even finished the whole kitchen ...ran over my allotted time at the building I was moving out of, at my cost. And then they ruined my couch. So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. A slow work scam, exactly what I was worried about, but like an idiot I bought into the reassurances Karen gave me but they truly let her down. I hope she knows they're having her selling lies.

You'd be better off moving your items yourself if you can and are able-bodied. They use a rented Penske van anyways. Sadly, my fiancé and I opted to use them since it was only us moving in such a short notice. My 55" television was smashed in the move (not sure if they were going to say anything, but it was the only one conveniently positioned backwards while my other televisions were not), my full length body mirror went mysteriously missing and I had to purchase another, and the miscommunication between the team of movers they sent was abysmal. I asked if they could move the big furniture down for us, to which one of the movers agreed, and the furniture still fit within the range quoted because we significantly downsized and tossed the bulk of the furniture before the movers arrived. He didn't communicate this with the rest of the team, because when i asked two more times to both him and the others on the team, no one knew what i was talking about. The claims team reimbursed us for the television, but for us to pay $3k+ to have our tv smashed and still have to move our items ourselves it just makes no sense.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. We made our reservation for an interstate move months in advance specifically for 8am. 2. We called a week before to confirm our 8am arrival, were promised a 755am arrival time. 3. At 8am, we called Sloans who would said the truck had mechanical problems, was in the shop, and would arrive at 930. No proactive heads up on being late. 4. Sloans offered to find an additional employee to speed up the move, but never followed up with us on that option. 5. When the movers arrived, they apologized saying they were not aware of the 8am arrival time. They did not mention any mechanical problems. 7. I spoke with the general manager who promised to file a claim and said the claims department would contact me within 24 hours and hear everyone's side of the story. 8. After 24 hours, I called Sloans twice, leaving messages. 9. After 48 hours, I called Sloans twice, leaving messages. 10. Only after threatening to leave a negative review, I received a text message promising a check with a 5% reimbursement. Claims never called me.

The owner, Shawn, hung up on me twice when I called to ask where the movers were because they were close to 2 hours late. I was told they would be there at 8 and they showed up at 9:45. They completely tore up my yard, flipped the safe on every side and left major scratches and dents on the safe. At time of scheduling I explained the terrain, the steepness of the yard, etc and the three movers showed up clueless. They said the fourth mover called out so they only had 3. I tried calling it off and the mover called his boss who told him to get it done. I told him i wasn't going to pay if the safe is ruined and can't open and the owner told me to "sue him". Whatever you do, do not use this company. Please see damage and text message trail between me and the owner. If i could leave zero stars it would be too many. Pitiful pitiful excuse for a business.
