Don't store things here. There has been a rash of burglaries at this location. Over 400 units have been broken into according to management. They feel they dont have to call to tell you about the break ins. They say that things have changed to prevent it, but in reality it hasn't. They sent out letters but don't follow up if they return back to them. They don't care as they say it's not their responsibility to do so. HPD is now doing reports over the phone. Management doesnt want to spend money on security of additional cameras. It's a shame that you spend your money on storage only to be treated like crap when things happen. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere, but public storage. They'll call you when you dont pay your rent on time. read more

I got a storage unit at 1165 North Loop West in February 2023, for $90 per month. It us now mid-May and the price of the unit has gone up to $243 per month. This is outrageous! I have nothing nice to say about the property manager, George. I have called the office, the phone isn't answered, and my call isn't returned. I have gone to the office and no one is there. It is also difficult to get a moving cart. Instead of being available on the ground floor of the buildings, it is now necessary to go to the office, leave your driver's license, and check out the carts. It's quite a walk from the office to the buildings, especially when you are pushing a cart. Also, although the buildings are supposed to be climate controlled, when I was in my unit last week, I was sweating. Additionally, I noticed last week that there were spiders on much of my furniture. I have given 30-days notice that I am moving out, yet I'm getting invoices for next month. Of course, it's not possible to reply to the emails. I have called the office again and had to leave a message because George didn't answer the phone. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. read more

They've just notified me that my monthly rent is going up $36/month effective April 1st. Same unit, same service so why the significant increase? I feel like these companies just take advantage of other costs rising and stick it to their customers. I will be leaving Public Storage ASAP. read more

I have been here for about 6 months and my bill randomly goes up when they feel like raising it. I tried calling to get an reason for this, but they literally had none. They take advantage of people because they know that it is a huge hassle to move all of our belongings somewhere else. I even have a contract stating how much my monthly charge is, but they did not acknowledge it whatsoever. I know someone else this has happened to also, who uses this location. Well-established renters get second priority when it comes to upgrading to a larger facility. I made 2 attempts to do an advance upgrade from a 10X7 to a 10X15. Management stated that this could only be done on the same day as the move. I was told there would be plenty of units available on the day I was available to move. When that day came a few days later, all these sizes were "reserved". So, I had to go with an available 10X10 storage unit. Then, when trying to transfer units there were no carts available. This business needs to improve quality of customer service and increase cart inventory. read more

I would probably give this location five stars. I would wager a guess that the things that I dislike are driven by more by public storage as a company rather than anything specific to this location. All of my experiences specific to this location have been great. This is my second time to rent a unit at this location. All of the following review would apply to both instances. Things I love: Great location and friendly staff. George, in particular, is always delightful, but in my experience everyone on staff has always been pleasant and competent as well. I would highly recommend this location as it's very clean, centrally located, and I feel that both my person and my belongings are very safe at this location. Great cutomer service. On the rare occasions when my autopayments don't go through, I have always received a prompt phone call alerting me to the situation. Things I don't love: Not that anyone ever expects moving to be a pleasant experience, but the climate is always a little muggy and gross inside. Still, I guess that technically it's climate controlled, and I'm sure that the temp and humidity are more than adequate for most belongings. I definitely feel like -my- things are fine temperature-wise, and I'm a pretty damn picky about that. Beats the hell out of a Texas attic, that's for sure. Things that I hate: 1, Hours of availability. I'm sure they're fine for most people, but as a night person with obligations through most of the daytime hours I often find myself rushing at a breakneck pace to make it to the facility and get anything accomplished. There are security cameras everywhere, the premises are very well lit, and you have to use a personal entry code at every gate and elevator. Given all those lovely factors, in a modern 24hr metropolis like Houston, it seems rather arbitrary and backwards to only allow extended access for a few hours before and after the office closes. UNNECESSARILY INCONVENIENT, PS. 2, No cart access after office hours. I get it. You used to provide carts after hours, but then some A-Holes stole them. Seriously Public Storage...take care of your renters and your staff. You have all these great security features, and yet everybody has to suffer on account of a few bad eggs? Seriously though...do something. Put a keypad on a cart corral, or use a credit card system to hold a deposit while we use a cart or something. What century is this? Just moved into a supposed to be "climate controlled" unit three weeks ago and there has been 0 climate control. Claim the AC units are being worked on but still no relief. Not offering any type of discount. I find that to be poor customer service. You pay for a climate controlled unit that is exactly what you should get or at least offer some sort of reimbursement for the inconvenience. Especially in this HOT Texas heat. I just moved out of a unit to be closer to home and this is what I got. read more

My faith in Public Storage has been restored. Apparently, they were having a pro rata glitch in their system on the day of my moveout and I was reimbursed the duplicate pro rata charge I had to pay. That was the only negative experience I encountered with this facility and other than that, I am extremely happy with this business. I have used them twice and I appreciate the followup I received in response to my unhappy experience. They cared enough to follow up and correct a mishap. This is my second time to use this facility. One of the cleanest, largest and easily accessible climate controlled facilities. Good variety of storage units with varying pricing per your needs and budget. Very good hours to access your items. Security is top-notch with pass-codes and CCTV. Won't go into details but if you're a customer you will understand all the fail-safes. George, the manager has a great personality and the staff is very helpful. I highly recommend this facility to store your excess "stuff" or your memorabilia (as I am doing) now that I am down-sizing. read more

I wish I could give it a negative 10 rating. Customer service is the last thing this group demonstrate. After "requiring" me to take the optional insurance which adds to your monthly bill. They would not allow me to bring a cart they have accessible to renters to utilize without rolling it through the rain when they have easy access through the building, but I was told "that is only for the employees to walk through". When she was showing me the unit I was allowed to walk through but now this is not allowed. Additionally, to access the key pads, you have to go get out of your vehicle and into the rain. read more

Very disappointed in this Public Storage location. Cancelled my reservation the day I was suppose to move in a house worth of items from Philadelphia! Renting a unit at another company day of COST ME 55% MORE PER MONTH. I reserved a unit at this location weeks in advance (and specifically spoke with the facility manager, George, to confirm logistics) but the first day I had my unit, received a call that my unit was never "assigned" and had been given to another customer on a first-come first-serve basis. What is the point of a reservation, then? I chose a specific unit, at a specific price, on a specific day. Wrongly, I trusted Public Storage to honor this reservation. Instead, I scrambled that day to find another unit but it cost me 55% MORE PER MONTH. Public Storage made no attempt to make this right. If looking at this location, I recommend reaching out to CubeSmart on Shepherd (Honorable company and GREAT experience there.) read more

Nikki was really nice while setting up my storage space. She was accommodating when I realized that I did not want a "regular" door storage but more like a "garage style door." She was able to find my an open spot with what I needed without a hassle. I was trying to rent a storage unit, and was dealing with Taquilla, the manager. I was quoted the week before and walked out with a written record of it. I was not told of fluctuating prices at that time. I came back to sign a lease, and there was 30 minutes until closing. She tried to turn me away, apparently business is that good that she didn't need my lease. I told her i needed it done that day & she quoted me a price $60/ month than was previously stated. She was literally the most unhelpful person I've come across in years. Basically told me, "I don't know" "I am the only person here, and can't do anything." At least acknowledge the problem! I asked her if she didn't see a training issue where she ha employees that aren't informing customers of policies. She doesn't see it as an issue. Taquilla, the most unhelpful manager sent me away with a not my problem and have a nice day. I went online to see who else I could contact, and found prices comparable to what I'd originally been quoted. Don't you think that should be a place to direct unhappy customers?! Public Storage needs to take a serious look on how they train their employees. Being pleasant in adversity isn't enough; teach them to be problem solvers. Horrible customer service; bait & switch tactics I reserved a unit online but when I arrived to see & pay for the unit they tried to charge me a higher rate that the one I had reserved. I had the confirmation from the Public Storage website showing the rate but the office insisted I couldn't get that rate. I persisted and called corporate people who finally agreed with me but the office staff was nasty and not at all helpful. I have had a unit there 2 years and the rates are raised often with the contracts all having month to month pricing. You have no ability to control how high the rates go or how often they are raised. I noticed on their website that they were offering a lower price for my unit than what I was being charged. I called the corporate office to try to get the website rate and was told I could not since I was already a customer. They try to lure new customers in with a low rate only to immediately raise the rates and you have no recourse. The corporate people are also rude and not at all helpful. Just a terrible business. read more

We were having trouble finding a storage facility that would be accessible to a large truck, and we were relieved to find that this location met that requirement. Sonja was very helpful and knowledgeable in helping us to determine which size unit we would need and getting us set up with our lease and all the other paperwork.
