$ Saving Tips 1. Reservations-make reservations online by going to the Public Storage website. You get better prices and better deals/promos. Walk-In-Customers usually get ripped-off. 2. Insurance-Decline their Orange Door Insurance. Use your own insurance like "Homeowners" instead. Why double pay when you may already be covered by one of your insurance providers? Call your insurance providers to find out. You don't need to provide them with proof of insurance coverage, just decline at the time of rental. If you do buy their Orange Door Insurance, go for the cheapest and don't store more than you're covered for. If they ripped you off already and you're currently renting, you can remove their insurance at any time to save money, just visit the office. 3. Overpriced merchandise-Buy cheaper merchandise (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc.) elsewhere. 4. Overpriced locks-Secondary-locks (padlock, disc-lock, etc.) aren't necessary. It takes a thief less than 1 minute to break through all door locks. If you do buy a secondary-lock, buy for cheaper elsewhere. 5. Promos/Deals-If you're a Current-customer you don't qualify for a new promo/deal during transfers or renting additional units. Only New-Customers and Returning-Customers qualify for deals. To be considered a Returning-Customer you must vacate for at least 7 days. You also can create other accounts using other names to get promos/deals. 6. Late Fees-Each customer is entitled to a one-time late fee waiver. If you ever get charged a late fee, you can request this waiver to get a refund. 7. Started off great with reasonable rates after six months they change their hours drastically when they Now close at 6 o'clock where they used to close late into the evening which was very important for our type of business and then without a reason they raise rates 20% across-the-board for all current renters. This is horrible in a time of pandemic. I decide to move out tell them the reasons. They use the excuse their hours are changed because of the Covid19. In my mind that is a cop out. It has nothing to do with that in their type of business. Storage is busier than it's ever been given the fact that we've lost so many small businesses and they moved all her stuff into storage. There you go folks, big corporation taking advantage during your down time of need. If anything you should reduce your rates and help those verses sticking it to them and take more make more. No excuses, shame on you Public Storage. read more

Much mahalo to Ray who saved me a couple of hours. Our delivery came in earlier than expected and the driver couldn't wait too long before leaving for his next drop. Problem was, we had 2 pallets and the driver had a pallet jack and we didn't. Ray saw that we were short on time and let us in a little early so the driver could drop our pallets right in front of our storage unit. If Ray hadn't opened a little early for us, we would have to download the pallets outside then haul them upstairs in several trips. Thank you Ray! Also, the customer service here has always been great but on this day, they exceeded our expectations. The facility is always kept very clean also. read more

I already had a Public Storage unit rental at another location but necessity demanded I pick up another unit closer to town and found the Kapiolani PS unit. I needed to move in hundreds of boxes in 3 days and didn't know exactly what size unit I would need. I didn't want to guess and get screwed with a locker thats too big or too small. The managers went out of their way to help me just the right fit unit for my boxes. I was totally happy with the service and location of the unit. Place is clean and that is it. No real service. I had to kind of do everything on my own. Their units are pretty cheap if you need a BIG unit. If you just need a small 5x10 or 10x10 I would go directly across the street to Hawaii Self Storage like I did. They offer much better service and if it rains at least you're under covered parking while moving your items. Trust me I got drenched by the rain and then switched real fast. read more

This place is extremely clean and the staff is courteous. One of the managers, Joe, was always polite and helpful. We stayed a couple of months but they made us feel like we were long term renters. I would definitely recommend this location to others. The parking is ample, the elevators well positioned, and the units were easy to get to. read more

Public storage kapiolani store Sales lady Taylor was very professional about the product and knowledgable when I ask her about my project for my special glass cup how to protect from cracking or breaking the glass she recommended the bubble wrap which Im getting when I make the custom box for it!
