My rental rate has increase TWICE in 6 months. It has almost doubled. Meanwhile, the price for the same unit I currently rent is showing at the ORIGINAL price I paid when I first rented it. I have been renting a unit for maybe 6 months now and visit often. If you get ahold of on site staff on phone they can be very nice and helpful. Never expect they will pick up, but rather hope they will call you back. I have always eventually gotten a call back. I have never seen anyone available in the office, and I go there a lot. Those who live on site keep 2 cars, one broken down, in the driving paths or unloading zones of the units. They are always in the way and make it difficult for customers already limited on where to park for unloading. This I see as a problem that public storage needs to solve, as those living on site should obviously have a place to park their cars. In addition the bathrooms are rarely unlocked (and no one there to ask to unlock them), which explains why you will find feces and vomit in the bushes on site. Lastly and the reason for my one star rating. Public storage itself uses bait and switch tactics to get you to move your life into their units. I spent a month researching for a need to find something I could afford for a 3 bedroom house worth of stuff. I ended up in a unit I have to drive 40 minutes to get to, so I could save $100. However, 2 months after I get moved in, which took a lot of money and effort, they raised my rent almost $100, which was 1/3 of what I have contracted for, and what I would have paid anywhere else within a few minutes of my apartment. Insanely unethical practice that is preying on people going though hardship, if not homeless already. I have things on auto pay, so they just capitalize off people not noticing that the rent was raised. I will happily change this rating if my experience improves, but this company is shady. read more

Originally I was perfectly happy with public Storage, for years, in fact. until I found out that I've been paying over $100 more for my unit than the going market rate for months and months. They've been raising the prices steadily and now our unit is almost twice the cost of the same unit a mile down the road. When I called them on this, they refused to change it and simply said "Yeah go ahead and move, this is how it works." When I tried getting in contact with higher ups I was stonewalled. I even got the contact info for the regional manager and absolutely nothing was ever said to me about other than essentially 'You're SOL." Go somewhere else. read more

Well if you are looking for a safe place to store your personal property safely this isn't the place. After 3 1/2 years paying more than $150.00 per month I found out someone had takin the time to break in and steal all the tools and anything of value. They did have time to go through everything and leave the stuff of no value to them. They even took the time to put another lock back on the door. I believe it's someone working from inside. There are no cameras in the halls so someone can take their time and steal at will. My stuff is probably in a Neighboring unit only to be taken out at the right time. Really only mad at myself for trusting this place and leaving it there for to long when I knew it was sketchy. Shame on me. It's not if you will be ripped off it's when. read more

Shame on me for taking over a year to write this review, but here goes... So my wife and I moved here from across the country. We didn't have a permanent home, but our stuff was arriving here anyway. The solution? A storage unit. The day before our items arrive, I begin looking, find what looks like a nice deal, call Public Storage for more information, am assured that the facility and unit size I'm looking for will work for my needs (big rig truck), and go ahead and book online. The day the truck is to arrive, I head over to sign the paperwork so that when it finally does arrive, there are no snags. BIG MISTAKE. I inspect the unit, question the on-site employee on the ability of a large truck to get to it, am told "Oh, we have big moving trucks in here all the time," make the mistake of trusting A STORAGE PROFESSIONAL, sign the paperwork, and leave. The truck arrives a few hours later and that's when the fun begins. There's no way a truck has ever fit down the row our unit (10x30) was on. I'm faced with finding a new storage facility or this one trying to make it right. The truck driver is understandably antsy since we were both told this would work just fine and he's got more work to do. We NEEDED that 10x30 (300 square feet) of space. The only option? Two units, a 10x20 and a 10x10. I inspect them, they check out, they'll be a little more work for the moving team, and that's that. Except it isn't. I had assumed that since this issue was entirely the error of Public Storage, we'd be facing the rate of the original 10x30. That's what any reputable business would do, no? Space is space and any difference should be handled because it was their fault. But no, and it isn't JUST a rate increase. This is where it gets good... Because we were not using the internet to book these units (they were treated as completely new rentals), the price went way up. Because it was two units, the "setup fee" was not waived on the second. Because we were already in the system as customers (from the original 10x30), we would not receive the new customer discount. I'm appalled at this, but again, have a mover waiting, and I assume a reputable company would make this right; the employee onsite is likely just making do with the software and limits they are faced with. So I signed the paperwork. ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE. We call the local manager, Mark Hodory, but he's busy auctioning units somewhere in town. He'll call me back. And then the fun begins. I call Mark Hodory on a near daily basis for 2-3 months. He NEVER picks up. I e-mail him regularly too, but he goes about a month in between replies, and it's never anything of substance. He's supposed to be working with corporate to see what they can do. Ultimately we do connect on the phone and, he flat out tells us we're out of luck. How can this be? I mention that their website promises 100% satisfaction. This issue is entirely their fault for making claims about their facility that were false (two storage "professionals" repeated the same thing... and were wrong). I couldn't be more dissatisfied. What does their satisfaction guarantee mean then? At the end of our several month stay, we lost about $750 due to the ineptitude of Mark Hodory and the people he employs. I cannot recommend Portland area Public Storage facilities (he handles them all) any less. read more

My sister and I took over a family member's unit. We do not live in the area so we spent 3 long days going through the unit and speaking to the staff. A word of advice, do make sure a truck can fit into the area your unit is located. Also know you will need to back up your car/truck to get out of some areas, as there are no continuos paths that lead to the exit. My sister and I were very happy with Megan's customer service and willingness to help. The only issue we had is the over pricing of the storage unit's. read more

Well this is the second time, I've use this Public Storage! 2 yrs ago, I had to put much of my belongs in Public storage, due to an ugly DV injury & having to clearing out 38 yrs of stuff, to put my home on the market. Talked to both Megan & Erin for info. they were both so nice. Megan was on duty the day, I came to sign papers, she was great & she put me super close right by the door with a light. After what I'd been through, I was so grateful !!! Eventually I had to move stuff back to my 3 car garage, due lack of funds, house not selling & another injury! But, I will say, this place was great! The gals were great.... I'm back! : ) So now I want to brag on " Kelly" - she is great too & was so kind to me & so efficient in her job! Very professional, yet empathic & understanding of my situation, let alone having to put all my household stuff of 40 yrs in 3 units - as my big house finally SOLD! Needing to down size - Kelly was very helpful, getting my units close by again - so I could feel safe! As the place is pretty well lit & that was important to me. The units were very clean & are the the best prices around. Also note: all units stayed dry during the winter, snow & rainy season. I had a friend that used another Local Company, and with all the snow we had last year - it drifted over the door & ruined her furniture. So again! I have been very pleased & Kelly is great & a really "bonus" to the Team! I would recommend talking to Kelly & picking this place. DO NOT RENT HERE. I had a unit for 4 months and someone got in and stole all of my camping gear, a bike, a large container of Lego that had been collected through both of my sons childhoods which I hoped to pass on to my grand kids, as well as probably other things I can think of so don't know it is missing. I am still trying to think of what else was in there. They went through a bunch of my Christmas decorations and other boxes and left them in disarray. At least they locked it back up when they were done (sarcasm). I should of know better based on the neighborhood this is located on but it was the cheapest and I was assured by Megan that they were very good about security. When I reported this all I got was a "I am very sorry". If you have to rent here provide your own lock. I bought one from the place and am wondering if that was part of the issue. I also did not buy insurance because my renters insurance covers which they will but I wonder if that made me more of a target... Now they don't even have to report it to anyone probably. read more

I contacted them asking for quotes of the units. Megan was very helpful and answered all of my questions. Including some packing supplies, I was expecting to spend around $387. $287 for the move in of a 10x20 unit, then $244 a month after that, plus $100 for the packing supplies (I budget high, I only bought around $65 worth of supplies so far). When I got there I received the fantastic news that my storage unit had dropped in price! I was now only going to pay $186 a month, and I only had to pay around $122 total for the move-in and packing supplies. This allowed me to buy groceries and to take my mother out to lunch. Over all, a wonderful experience, I plan to recommend them to anyone who needs a storage unit :) read more

Very patient considering we walked to looked at two storages on different sides of the building in the rain I've seen other storage places and this particular storage facility was really clean and quiet . This Public Storage location is the worst. The policies of PS in general differ from others in that they don't prorate at all, even if you're moving out on the 2nd of the month, you still pay the entire month and you have to give them notice that you're clearing out 24 hrs. ahead of time. At this location the manager is a scatter brained woman who made several mistakes that cost me time & money & didnt even apologize, just gave me attitude & made excuses. I was quoted a price online for the unit I specified by square footage & outdoor location & when I got there she tried to put me indoors. When I told her it had to be outdoors she had me wandering up & down the aisles trying to compare her clipboard with the units. She finally quoted me a price on the specific outdoor unit I settled for & wrote it down,but when we went inside to pay she put it in the computer & she gave me a different higher price. When I objected she said "oh I quoted you for an indoor unit by mistake". I had my truck all packed & moving men bring paid by the hour so I had no choice but to accept it. I told her to set me up on autopay but she didnt so I incurred a $24 late fee for the following month. Also, my unit flooded because they are old poorly designed units for weather inevitabilities. Learn from my experience & dont be lured by the '1st month free'! Avoid Public Storage, especially this location with their incompetent manager. I am moving all of my stuff today & relocating it to a better location until my house is ready. It's worth the extra moving costs to get out of there!!
