THE WORST UHAUL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!! They gave me a truck that had problems, I only drove it for 5 miles and the truck kept stalling and turned off on me. The check engine light came on. I felt so unsafe and anxious to drive it and I didn't even get to finish my move. I called to let them know what was going on and they didn't apologize or offer any accommodations!!!! When I returned the truck they said it's not their problem and to call U-haul because it's not "their trucks". They just rent it through them!!! They don't even deserve 1 star. I was charged $300 for a broken truck and one and a half day use. read more

I've used this storage facility once before and had no problems whatsoever. I got a really great rate for the time I rented as to why I returned to them for my second time. I moved in at a half off rate which fit my needs but wasn't told it was only for two months. nowhere in my paperwork or when I moved my belongings in was that ever discussed. Going forward I won't ever be using this storage facility again. They also want me to pay the full month of the 15 days I'm needing the unit and won't refund me the other half until after 30 days which I find really unsettling. It's places like these that appeal to you then lie to you just to steal your money. read more

Seriously this is the BEST storage experience I have ever had. I moved to Vancouver and there came a day where in unpacking I realized everything I had wasn't going to fit. I called one other place that had some guy trying to find the size/price I needed from different businesses all around the area. A broker? A middle man? For storage? No thank you!! I then called West Coast. The manager answered the phone. He was onsite. He happened to have the size unit I needed for a great price. When I showed up to rent the space, I was in awe of how CLEAN the entire place was. The cleanliness wasn't all that impressed me though. It was the care the manager took in explaining things to me, the absolutely secure way the units are locked, and the well lit hallways that make it easy to manage your storage unit. Why get excited about storage? Because the last thing I needed when I moved was one more thing to make things harder. My wife and I were very fortunate to have spotted a sign for West Coast Self-Storage as we were passing through Vancouver going to Camas. This place is great on a variety of levels: 1. Friendly staff: the team here is professional, friendly, and very helpful. Grant was especially helpful in sharing the "rules" of storage and explained the ways this facility is different and better than others. He even helped us with a local mover recommendation which is priceless. 2. Facility: the facility is fairly new and is well secured, has cameras watching every inch, is temperature controlled, and indoors. It's modern and in great shape. Access is also limited to 6am to 10pm but we found out this is actually a good thing in terms of safety and security. Each unit has its own code so you can only access the floor with your unit, and the locks are a special type that are more secure (hard to explain but they don't use the usual combo or master lock ones that can be cut). 3. Price: our rate was actually comparable or slightly lower for a hard to find 10x15 unit. In addition, we were assured that monthly rate increases would be rare and small, unlike most other places where high monthly jumps are the norm. West Coast really tries to keep a tenant happy and long term rather than turn over lots of business. If you are looking for a safe, reasonably priced, and professional storage facility you should give these guys a call. They are near capacity so it might be hard to get a unit but that says something about their quality when there are so many choices out there. read more

I would absolutely recommend West Coast Self-Storage! Not only is the facility spotless, temperature-control and secure, the manager at the 164th Street location, Grant, is a consummate professional. It's rare these days that you run into a company that gives exceptional customer service, and I must say that West Coast rises above the rest. Not only in the self-storage industry, but in general, as a business. We are getting ready to travel full time for about a year, and we are leaving behind the entire contents of our home at West Coast. The peace of mind I feel about their security measures, and overall excellent customer support (as well as on-site management daily), is priceless. They are well worth the slightly higher cost to store there. Actually, they are the only truly temperature control storage facility. I made a list of about 8 local companies, and these guys came out as my first choice. Highly recommend. (If you can get in --- summer is the peak for any storage company here in Vancouver, and they are always running close to full, but you know what? Grant works miracles.) Things started off rocky. Got a call a few days after renting my unit, which was still empty and the door and several walls had been damaged. I was questioned like I was guilty of committing the damages, before security tapes had been reviewed. Things got fixed so no problems there. Then about 4 months in, my rent increased by about $30 which I was not informed about beforehand. I called and was told a notice had been sent, never got it. Was told it would be sent again. Never got it. Then the next month, my rent increased almost $40. Again, no notification. The customer service isn't great in my opinion if they can't notify you of increases to the monthly charges. read more

We have rented a storage unit at Vancouver West Coast Storage for a couple years and someone visits the unit about once a month. This place is well secured with a locked gate after hours, coded doors/ elevators, security cameras, and tricky locks on the units. I have never felt unsafe here even when there are strange hours. All units are inside and climate controlled. There is always space to park and load/ unload. The location is always clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The door has a magnetic hold open that can be set and there are always plenty of carts available to borrow. They also sell boxes and other packing supplies. This is a great place with a great location. Highly recommended! read more

I am starting with praise for Grant Runyon, the manager at West Coast who worked with me to coordinate a long distance move and a lot of time and effort went into it. Grant assured me I would have the truck I needed, with a fair price - taxes and insurance was extra - but I arrived having flown from the east coast, and the truck was there. Full tank of gas, too. Throughout my storage unit time here I have NEVER had any issues with my storage, customer service or billing. Thank you for watching my things!!! Vancouver West Coast storage is unbelievably clean, with controlled temperature, secured site to gain access to the compound, fully accessible and convenient. Staff is great with exceptionally wonderful customer service. If anyone is looking for a storage unit, this by far is the best of all Vancouver and the Portland metro area. The facility is beautiful but I was disappointed in my experience. I called and asked questions regarding a storage unit for our move. I was given information over the phone that there was one unit that just became available that would fit our needs. I asked the gentleman if I could stop by to take a look to make sure it will fit all of our belongings. I was impressed with the cleanliness and security of the storage unit and told the gentleman that I just needed to chat with my husband and I would get back to him ASAP. He mentioned that the unit would be popular and I assured him I would reach out as soon as I got ahold of my husband. I had also given him my contact information to reach out to me if need be. All that being said, I called back about an hour later to book the unit and he told me that he gave it to someone else just two minutes prior. I work in customer service and have for many years. While I completely understand that occupancy is a number one priority to a storage company, I truly feel that the right thing to have done was call me and say "I have another buyer interested here and want to touch base and see if you guys are reserving or if I can give this away". Instead there was no apology it was just a bland "I just sold it to someone else" comment. We were looking forward to storing with West Coast Self-Storage but we took our business elsewhere. read more

The facility is great with many advantages including a covered loading area, but the price has increased more than my budget has room for. My unit started at $164 less than 3 years ago; the latest increase of $50 brings it to $239 next month. read more
