Worst customer service I have encountered in my life! Just save yourself time money and respect by finding a different storage facility.

Henry was super helpful. I had rented a unit in March and wasn't told about the necessity of having a lock before I moved in (it makes sense, so it's partially my fault for not thinking of that) and so I had the unit empty for about 1.5 months, the person who helped me knowing that I wasn't moving stuff in until june. Then in late April I got a move out receipt saying I had vacated, which I hadnt. They said they had contacted me about it but I hadn't received any calls, and they also deleted my account before making sure I had really moved out. So, I rented another one today and definitely made sure I had a lock. Henry helped me through the process and I highly recommend him. I am changing the stars from 5 to 1 because of one major thing I won't let it slide. The thing is that they lock the doors to the stairs so you can take it instead of the elevator or in case of a fire. I don't care what their reason is but the fire code states that it has to be unlocked. I found out that it was lock because I got a call on my cell and wanted to take the stairs instead of taking the elevator. in the elevator I would loose the signal and it was an important call. There's a reason why they're # 1: They're the Best! My daughter [a UCSB student] needed a short-term public storage unit because her new apartment wasn't available to move-in, before the lease of her old place expired. So, I researched online for some local businesses. Only Public Storage is up front about what they charge for their storage units and their website is user-friendly. Others claim they have competitive prices, but what does that really mean? Why don't they all clearly list their price for a particular size unit and tell you if it is available or not, without subjecting you to a sales pitch. I inquired via their website, but they didn't have the courtesy to reply. Public Storage was also the closest place to her Apt., UCSB, and offered the best deal too. With their "$1 for the 1st month promo" it was a no-brainer decision. Public Storage has got their act together and are very professional. Does the competition allow you to reserve a unit without making a deposit? Before I was finished registering online for their "Express Check-In" during the reservation process, their manager Kristine called to welcome me and answer any question that I might have. That's impressive. They also sent a written confirmation restating the size of the unit, your preference [of indoor vs. drive-up access], the cost, and your move-in date. When we were ready to move into the unit, Manny was our on-site team member, and he made the process hassle-free. It was ready, and I had a choice of several that were available. F.Y.I., if you want to keep a mattress clean, then buy one of their giant plastic storage bags. Their office is well stocked with essential supplies and padlocks too, if you didn't have one already. Moving out was just as easy, if not easier. We came when it was convenient for us and left the unit clean and unlocked overnight. I notified Public Storage online of our move-out. They inspected the unit, closed out our account, and sent me a receipt. [I didn't even need to re-visit the place, but did since I was in the area a few days later. I just wanted to tell Kristine and Henry, who greeted me, what a pleasure it was doing business with them. I would highly recommend Public Storage and would without hesitation, re-use them again, if the need arises. read more

False advertising! Watch out! They say the first month is free but its really only 30 days. If there are more than 30 days in the month you sign up they will stick you with late fees at the end of the month for the 31st day. They locked my unit and i had to pay hundreds of dollars to get it open. Its a dirty trick! This place is the worst storage facility I have ever used. Also the women who work in the office are mean, nasty bitches. read more

I rented a unit for my son to store his belongings between semesters at UCSB. When we arrived to move out of his unit we discovered the unit had been broken into and items were stolen. I had a series of communications with the management and I can only classify their response as "not my problem". This despite the fact that the manager told me they had several burglaries in the last few months and several arrests. Management actually told me was not their responsibility to ensure the security of the rented units! I was told by the police that this location has frequent burglary issues. Beware - the management takes no responsibility for the security of your belongings or your losses. read more

I stopped by for merchandise a few weeks ago and the staff was really friendly. They recommended just what I needed, they have a large selection of moving supplies and good sales on their box bundles, and even suggested where to eat in the area. Henry was a rock star getting us into a storage locker. He was knowledge, professional, courteous and extremely personable. They were gracious to our four legged girl "Marley" who had to check them out, too. Great experience in obtaining a storage locker! We recommend!!! read more

I just had $10,000 of electronics stolen from my unit. This place has a major security flaw. My lock was in place and seemingly untouched so they must have another way in. Sucks. read more

The employees at this Public Storage are what makes it stand out against the others. Specifically Sherri, Stacy, and Nicole who helped us tremendously in our struggles with belongings we had no where to put. The staff is always very helpful & friendly, the facility is always clean, I've never had an issue with security, & the autpoay is helpful & convenient. Our unit was broken into, ransacked, and we lost $3,000.00 in personal property. We believe that our lock was picked, then re-locked after this thief took whatever they wanted. Many of our items were damaged. Public Storage did not return our calls. The insurance company would not honor our claim because we couldn't prove forced entry. Public Storage only got back to me after I wrote a letter to the board of directors. They sent a weak form letter that stated "We sincerely hope this incident will not deter you from utilizing Public Storage products and services in the future." Unbelievable. If you want heartache and turmoil, stolen and damaged items with no chance of ever seeing them again or financial reimbursement and an institution that does not care one iota for their customers, then this is the place for you. read more

I came in with numerous questions and I was kindly walked through the options and pricing by the woman at the front desk. I was able to chose what I needed and store my belongings instantly that day. The facility is well maintained and the staff was helpful. I definitely recommend this location. read more

I just had stuff stolen from my unit, and the office manager confirmed that 2 other people were hit at the same time. Such a huge hassle to have to go through all this and bring my stuff back home. Don't use them if you actually want to securely store your stuff. read more

I just rented a unit a few days ago and everyone there was very helpful, especially a young woman named Monica. She made it very easy and was very knowledgable. My only complaint is that when I went back the next day to pick something up I discovered that there was no light in the unit itself & was fairly dark. Checked in online and they got me in and out of there and renting a unit in 20 minutes - I had an urgent doctor's appointment later that day I couldn't reschedule and they were very accommodating. Not sure what the name of the woman who directly helped me was but the names of the people on the review card are Nicole, Stacy, Sherry and Jeremiah. I joked about leaving a five star review and they gave me a card so I'm doing it. Thanks for getting me out of a pinch. Need to store paperwork for a state church organization, and they had the best prices. The website had the correct address, easy to find, parking available. Stacey was professional, informative, focused, friendly. She explained about the labels affixed to my lock, to deter theft, which was greatly appreciated. BEWARE - We only had our unit for 4 months and they already raised out rent! They said they can raise it anytime.

If you have the option, do NOT store your stuff here. The staff is rude and does not care about their customers. We had a 5x5 unit that wasn't even 5x5. We tried paying over the phone and their automated system which did not work and charged $10, $20 if you need to talk to an agent whom you have to call multiple times for them to even answer. One time, we were at the location, and at the far gate but had a quick question, we called and by the third no answer, my boyfriend remained on the line and ran to the office, there were three agents in there talking to each other and the phone was still ringing. I recommend choosing a different company. read more

The office staff is very helpful when you are moving in, but almost impossible to get help from once you are a tenant. I've called several times with questions and no one answers the phone, nor returns voice messages! When I physically go to the site, it's rare that there is someone actually in the office during business hours! read more

Moving and storing possessions important to you is a stressful process. I have found that Nicole is consistently professional, polite and helpful. This is a very busy business so sometimes there is a wait. What I've noticed is that both Nicole and Stacey take their time to make sure the paperwork is complete and that customers understand everything. If you have a short wait, just know that when it's your turn, they will give you the same undivided attention. Nicole has really helped me during a very stressful time. We just arranged 2 large storage units for a work project. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and showed us multiple units. They were very knowledgeable and made the process really smooth and easy. I was very happy with the nice customer service, selection of units, security and how clean the units and property were. I was helped by the manager Kevin who was dressed in a denim blue button up and a silver watch with an orange face. I could notice his and his teams dedication to great service when they were able to successfully handle 3 customers while simultaneously handling and notifying the police about a passed out drunkard in the middle of their sidewalk. Also, $32 for the first month wasn't bad for a 5x10 foot storage unit. The three properties were pristine. I was shown 2 units which were both very clean and the sliding doors did not pause as they glided on their tracks. read more

Generally I wouldn't think of looking for a storage unit as a fun task, but the day I needed one the entire staff here was friendly, funny, and helpful. I have a huge couch that didn't fit into my original unit but Stacy took the time to drive my friend and I around the property looking at different units until we found a perfect one! She wasn't going to rest until we were happy which we were both so thankful for! Biggest shout out ever to her for making moving day much less stressful and a lot more enjoyable :) read more
