I recently moved a two-bedroom apartment (and piano) coast to coast and had to make the storage arrangements long-distance. I was VERY nervous about this since I was using a professional national brand moving company (United) which would deliver out of a huge 18 wheeler. Access can be a real problem for those big guys and my United moving coordinator stressed that this was an issue. The first two places I contacted in the SB-Goleta area could not access a large van. And it turned out that vacancies were a bit of an issue; I could not nail this down as early as I wanted. Also, I was troubled about how much space I would actually need because I just couldn't believe all my stuff could fit in just 150 square feet at the rate I was stacking boxes back in PA. The first place I called had an easy solution: just hire more space at twice the fees! So I made one last call and was lucky enough to find this gem of a family business. Fawn, my customer service representative REALLY listened. We talked about the 18 wheeler access, my concerns about storing my piano and what unit would be available when I needed it - which she virtually guaranteed. I was also in communication with her on the road - and when my United driver questioned access on the basis of a Google satellite picture - we went over it again one more time! It was really like having a good friend on the other end making sure everything went smoothly. BONUS: this family business has resident staff on the premises 24 and 7 so there is strict security and absolutely no hanky-panky with anyone using units illegally or for any purpose other than storage. I give this business my highest recommendation as they have made an extraordinary contribution to my transition to California. And yes - my stuff did fit in a 150 square foot unit! read more

I didn't actually end up using the storage facilities at GVMS/GVSS, but the front desk staff (Deena and Rebecca) get five+ stars for how helpful they were in accommodating my storage needs. They were both very friendly and helpful when I signed up and went over to check out the facilities, which are clean and secure (personal gate entry codes, photo security, friendly staff to show you around on your first visit). I booked a unit with them for three months over the summer while I'm out of town, paid the whole cost in advance up front, and then two days before I was going to move my stuff in realized that the space that I had reserved would be far too small. This was completely my fault for estimating my storage needs based on internet guidelines rather than measuring things properly, and GVMS/GVSS could have just kept my money, especially for the first month, because I cancelled at the last minute (they didn't have a larger unit available on such short notice). But they were incredibly helpful and processed a full refund that came through within three business days. I really appreciate the extra lengths they went to to help me out and next time I will reserve the right size unit so I can take full advantage of their facilities. Hi. I am a student attending UCSB. When the pandemic began, I needed a place to store my stuff away for the summer. I was just looking for a storage unit for 3 months. I went to GVSS because they had reasonable prices and because it was a small locally owned business. The process to apply was very simple and easy. No long-term contract whatsoever. You just pay monthly and could leave whenever you want. You just have to let them know a month in advance. When I learn that we weren't returning to in-person learning, I continued to rent my storage unit for another year. I didn't have any issues extending my stay in GVSS. The front desk staff was very friendly and understanding. Made the application process very easy. The maintenance guy was very cool and friendly. He does a great job keeping the place clean and recommended places to donate my stuff. Now that we are returning to in-person learning on campus, and moving out I wanted to leave a review. I recommend any college student who needs a temporary place to store their stuff for the summer to go with GVSS. Especially if your own a college budget. I would highly recommend choosing Goleta Valley Self Storage, if you have a storage need and need to store your stuff for the short or long term! The staff is very friendly and helpful and they were able to get us two storage units the same day, even though they were very busy. They have great rates on their storage areas and the areas are kept very clean and they have plenty of ample lighting. Everything is well maintained and they have a lot of security in place to make sure that all possessions that are stored at their facility are kept safe and secure. The storage areas are easy to get to and for the inside storage area's on the upper floor, they have a nice little freight elevator where you can load your items on to it and just send it on up to the floor above. They have an option for auto pay so there is never a worry about missing a payment and the staff is willing to find you the correct storage area the first time and once you have the perfect storage space you can just set it and forget it with the auto pay option. I almost forgot to mention they have free candy at the desk usually, so that is a bonus perk! read more

Originally I had gone to Public Storage with the assumption that my "reservation" was made 2 days prior. My father and I get there asking for our unit we had set aside. And with multiple email confirmations that they had one for us. Our stuff all packed in the car and ready to unload all of our belongings. We get to the front desk and ask for our reserved unit, the young lady who was a the manager had nothing under our name and said she couldn't help us. The man we had talked to, only sitting 2 feet away not acknowledging that he had made the unit under our names with him. Then the girl had leaned over and mentioned a spot she had used when she was a college student here for her belongings. She said "Goleta Valley Storage is a great spot and they are very helpful and friendly" (And boy was she right!) So we called them up, and a sweet lady said "Head over, I got something for you!" Goleta Valley Self Storage is the best storage facility in the Santa Barbara area, and the prices are the lowest I have found. The facilities are far better than the nearby competition offers. Everything looks brand new despite having been there for at least 15 years. I have used GVSS on several events and have been pleased by the friendly staff. They have a variety of unit sizes and are helpful in finding just what you need. The facility is just off the 101 freeway with easy access. I have not hesitated to keep valuables there including a rare book collection and my mother's special clothing. No drips or leaks like some places and a good security system. The ability to simply drive up to the gate, enter your code, and pull into the parking area saves time and energy. A freight elevator and several dollies are available for the user's convenience. The storage units are clean and well lit. The staff is always ready to help out and make things uncomplicated. You won't be sorry. read more

I had a unit with Goleta Valley Self Storage for 12 years! and I had a fantastic experience throughout those years with them. In over a decade I only had one or two modest price increases and the staff is always helpful and patient and cool.... they're always accommodating when I was little late or whatever things that inevitably came up over the years I was there. Everything is clean and tidy and I never (ever) had any type of rodent encounters or anything of that nature and never even saw the slightest evidence of anything like that. It really is a pretty first rate place,you can totally feel comfortable leaving your stuff there...and like I mentioned before,I had a unit there for over a decade and if there were any sort of shortcomings with there service I would've seen it. If I find myself needing another storage unit in the future i will ,of course, hit these guys up again without giving it a second thought. read more

I was so relieved to find Goleta Valley Self Storage after too many years with using Public Storage which is just around the corner, which I found to be dirty, funky and have poor customer service. In a bad windstorm years ago, much of my business' paper products were ruined because the old pull up garage doors were not properly sealed at Public Storage. I paid extra for insurance every month, filed an insurance claim, then found out it wasn't covered. What a depressing situation. Once I walked in the GVSS office, I immediately realized how organized, clean, well maintained, and pleasant my experience could be! All the gals in the office are friendly and top rate. The facilities are alway well maintained, secure and even have pretty landscaping. And, I always enjoy a quick espresso when I'm in the office. I'm so happy I found this storage company! As a student in Santa Barbara, it's not always easy to store your things between semesters. However, Goleta Valley Self Storage allowed me to keep my things in a place that assured me they would be clean and safe! The check in/out process was always very easy and the gate keeper system was modern and reliable. I was also never worried about getting my heavy furniture to and from my car because of their vast assortment of tools and lifts. They offer a wide variety of spaces to accommodate any amount of stuff, all while keeping the storage costs at a minimum! On top of all this, the staff was always very friendly, helpful, and available to answers any questions I had at any time. This place is also very cute and maintains a very lovely appearance! Hey All, I rented a space in preparation of my move, and let me tell you I was totally impressed by their staff and facility. The staff were so accommodating to the actual space that I needed and very thorough in explaining the details, setting me up for automatic billing, orienting me to the facility, but most of all it felt like a family own business where they do their best to keep their customers happy. Easy location, with lots of cameras to make it also a safe place for storing even musical instruments, I stored Key boards and guitars and felt total confident that the instrument wouldn't be damage by dampness or mildew. I rented a space from Goleta Valley Storage in early 2016 to store some household furniture and possessions. Periodically, I visited the space to take items out of storage that I wanted to use. Recently after planning a move out of state I removed all the items. Throughout the time I rented the space from Goleta Valley Storage, I was very pleased with the physical space and the customer service. The space I used was on the second floor, and there is an elevator that makes it easy to move items up and down. The facilities are kept immaculate. I was worried about silverfish and other critters that might invade the storage area. I am pleased to report that I never saw any worrisome insects in and around my rented space! I would use Goleta Valley Storage again without hesitation and highly recommend this service. read more

Just checked out after 3 years of storage and it was a great experience. Always quiet, always clean, everything just always worked. I was in the Annex, and almost every time I was there I would see an employee working around the place so I always felt my stuff was being looked after. Jenny in the office was super helpful when I was checking out, and I wish I remembered everyone else's name who helped me bc they were always super friendly. It was also super easy to manage my account online when I needed to pay my bill each month. I highly recommend this place to store your stuff. Best experience! I had been at another facility in town and my unit was broken into so I moved. I wanted something with a true state of the art security and this office did not disappoint. Aside from the regular bells and whistles - there is a fully integrated camera system that targets all movement- is in color and all digital. They said that they have never had any incidences of theft and I believe them. Plus they have property managers who live on site at all times. Aside from all that -they are super nice, the facility is very clean and I am much happier. Highly recommend this facility. read more

Best place to store my stuff! Amazingly clean facility, and if you've stored items at other places, you know how nice this feels! I also really like the security and the SUPER nice staff! Sometimes it's just the little things (like the Great Coffee and Chocolates at the main office) but here it's also that you can just tell that these folks care about doing a great job. I don't have enough wine to use their secure wine cellars, but my guess is that they are pristine as the rest of the property!! Their front office is nicer than anything I've seen. After going from place to place it was nice to be offered a coffee while we talked. Their staff is very professional. Unit was clean, security cameras were great, and a nice restroom. I felt really comfortable at their facility. Pluses: -It's clean and secure! I have had valuable items like art work, medical charts and tax documents in Goleta Valley Self Storage for years. I am a retired physician and it was a requirement to have my medical charts stored and available for 10 years post retirement. GV Self Storage Company has been wonderful. The staff is cooperative and communication is good. They have done everything that they said they would. The facility is well kept and clean. There are no vermin nor was any of my stuff damaged. This facility has exceptionally well-maintained grounds and interiors, the staff is very friendly, and it's easy to enter, load and unload with large parking areas and ample parking. I've used several other storage facilities, but none were as nice as this one. The price is reasonable and the location is right of the Patterson exit, easy to find, and we'll worth the drive.
