If you are looking for a place to store your things in Gig Harbor avoid this place. Even if it is cheaper the savings isn't worth it. Avoid this place at all cost. Our storage unit is infested with mice. The overhead light in our unit has been broken ever since we moved in over 2 years ago. I have said something, my wife has said something, a co-worker of my wife has said something, they say they will look into it and nothing ever happens. We finally came to our limit a week ago when a box of product was brought home and in it was mouse droppings. We have a newborn who is putting everything in her mouth right now. Luckily, she didn't put any of the droppings in her mouth. But this is unacceptable. Now due to their reluctance to do anything my daughter, my wife, myself, and anyone who comes into that unit and in close proximity to anything from that unit could get sick. Right now this storage unit is in the throws of another mouse infestation. I would like to think it was just another one and not just one big long one that they have never really addressed. I count at least 4 different infestations in the two plus years we have been customers but it wouldn't surprise me if it is just one big one. Anyways this infestation has cost my wife thousands of dollars in lost product. I am going to share some pictures with you all. The pictures they have on the website is staged. Not once do you see a mouse trap in the pictures even though they are everywhere. Outside the buildings, inside the halls. EVERYWHERE. They are omitted from the pictures to deceive you all into believing that it is a clean facility where you can store your stuff and it will be okay. If you don't believe me, just do a drive through. Compared to Home Depot their packing materials and boxes are significantly more expensive. And unless you present the original receipt they will not take unused boxes back. Again, a significant drawback relative to HD. I store at Public Storage in Vancouver and was supposed to be able to return the boxes as a paying customer of Public Storage. I was told since I was not paying at this particular Public Storage it didn't count... really? I will never do business with these people again. read more

Had a peek at the place before finalizing with them. Between what I saw and the bait and switch "$1 first months rent" that ballooned to $96 just to move in, it was enough to warn me off, and that was without actually getting a good look inside the buildings. This place is a security nightmare. Came here to scope out the reviews, glad I did. Security nightmare, vermin infestation, poor maintenance, terrible management, and bait and switch tactics. We stored our 33' trailer at this facility. It was a bit of a hassel to park in our rented space since there's not a lot of room. However, my husband managed to park our trailer. Within three months our trailer was hit twice in the front. We were lucky the first time, the person who was parked next to us left a note. The second time no one claimed the damage. The problem we had with Public Storage is their lack of assistance and security. We asked Public Storage for their assistance to help us find out who may have damaged our trailer. We had to call them back after 5 days. They had no answer so then we had to sugest if we could see their video camera footage. The gal said their security camera would only be able to show to an extent of the area but not where our trailer was parked. Within a couple months, we moved our trailer to a new location. read more

The worst experience with a storage unit EVER. New management is horrific and rude. Less than 6 months into my lease, they raised the rent $40 two weeks before Christmas for "property maintenance" reasons. A check that was in their mailbox before the 1st, ended up having additional fees added to the account because they retrieved it from their mailbox at 9am not 12am, so it was considered late. The manager has zero communication skills and is not willing to work with you or be understanding whatsoever. This combat veteran was being hospitalized; and rather than communicate, they kept charging my account late fees when my rent was paid up two months ahead. Hundreds of dollars wasted on a horrible experience. Don't take the bait of $1 for your first months rent. The most anti-military corporation out there and most certainly is not a neighborhood friendly business in Gig Harbor. This place is a nightmare and not worth your money, time, or sanity. I use this storage facility for medical device sample storage. It is a Washington state mandate that sterile devices not be stored at home. My initial rate was $129 for a 5x10. Once they realized that I am a medical rep they increased my rates to $219, and I just received notices that the rates are going up again and I can no longer use the dumpster. Storage facilities should be state regulated too. It is wrong that they increase my rates just because they know I have to pay it. To make matters worse, the new manager opens late and literally put a lock and key on the dumpster. I can no longer have samples delivered via UPS/FedEx either. This is completely unheard of, and unethical. read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would. They are shady to say the least. I did not and would never rent a storage unit from this dump. I looked them up on the internet for a small storage unit. The internet said $55 per month. When I went in to meet the manager on duty,James, and see the unit, James said he couldn't get their system to bring up the $55 and he said there was a 'system issue' and I would be charged $66 per month instead. Now, of course $11 extra is not going to break the bank, that was not the issue. It was just too sketchy for me to believe. James also said there was no way to override their system to correct the higher amount and would it be okay if I paid 65? Not sure if he was playing stupid or if he really is just stupid. Nothing but bait and switch tactic. I left and will take my business elsewhere and everyone else should do the same. Plus there are so many rat traps around there it was disgusting. read more

Never again. So many better options nearby. Started at $83/ and within a year and a half I got the notice it was going to $185 for a makeshift 8x12 (divided from another unit by particle board wall), with a rusty door. Oh, and they will chew your ass if they catch you using their dumpster for a small box of scrap wood. Small being 12"X4"x4"... no kidding! And you will get reminded not to use their faucet or any electrical plug in a most unfriendly manner at the same time. Apparently they have enough business to be this rude. To start with...my Brother need to move back to Washington in a hurry. I called Public Storage in Gig Harbor to get him a unit for when he arrived. They were very accommodating. They advertise first month $1 which they were not going to give us because they said it's only at certain locations. BS! After complaining they gave him the deal. I also asked if they do raise increases a lot they said oh not to often I said that's good. He has been there 5 mo. And they raised his Rent $60. He is disabled and on a limited income! The manager at that location said she cannot help with this matter. So I called the corporate office to see if they could lower it they said NO because they need it for business operation. I get that but to raise it that much! I read all the other reviews on them. we are all complaining about the same thing! What needs to happen to open their eyes is everyone renting there go somewhere else. lets see how they can do business without any tenant! They need us we don't need them! read more

I've been in this unit in Gig Harbor WA for less than 6 months. I was not very impressed with the unit when I moved in in November 2016 but didn't have much choice as I had sold our home and needed to move out. While I was moving in I noticed that the "Staff" was often missing during office hours, left early, locked gate early, was unable to get lights repaired in units, wasn't able to arrange for necessary maintenance (holes in exterior wall that would allow pest entry), generally not very professional performance. When I went to pay my bill for the month of April I found that they had increase my monthly rate by 20.8%. When I contacted customer service to find out why the sudden increase of 20.8% I was told that I was supposed to be told on move in that they review their rates every 6 months and increase them to cover their operating costs. Customer service also said that even if I had not been notified of an increase they had no control and could not adjust the rate only the local office that was supposed to send out the increase notices could do that. I never received a written notification of an increase and in reviewing my rental agreement did not find the "6 month" information there either just a reference to their ability to raise your rates with a 30 day written notice. I did not receive either a written nor an e-mail notice of rate increase. When i finally reached the local office (Elizabeth) she claimed they can not change rates and that any rate increase is dictated to them. When I asked if the 20.8% increase was corporate wide or just their facility she could/would not answer. When I told her that a 20.8% increase in rent would indicate to me either total corporate greed, total operational incompetence, or a planned "bait and switch" scheme she could only refer me to the District manager in Seattle. The number provided for the District Manager does not connect. Since my rent is due today and I did not receive the 30 day notice I am unable to move out and can only now pay the increase. As soon as I am out I will be filing a formal complaint with the State Attorney General's Office. If you are considering renting from this Corporation please think again. read more

Worst customer service and company "Policy" I have ever experienced. They are very nice to sign you up and but almost instantly treat you like your some sort of "vagabond" that will never pay their bill. My rent was $47 and on the 6th they added a $20 late fee. We have about 6 public storage facilities and obviously the owners and management here have no interest in customer service or customer retention. Stay away. read more

On March 1, 2014, I had to rent a too large 10 x 20 unit because there were no 10 x 15, to the tune of $200+. Naturally, there was a special of $51 for a 10 x 10, which wouldn't help at all. I am recently retired and moved to Gig Harbor from California and am on a very limited income. $200 is a lot of money to me. I was able to find an apartment to rent and went into Public Storage on 3/3/14 to cancel. Please note, that is TWO days later. Public Storage told me that I still have to pay the full $200 because that is what was contracted. There is no mention of customer service, or what is fair. I was even willing to pay half. They will not allow me ANY refund. I do not recommend Public Storage if customer service and fairness to the customer is important to you. read more
