DISGUSTING STORAGE FACILITY... Unclean, Unsanitary, Unsafe, Broken... Public Storage, 1210 Clairmont Rd. Decatur, GA 30033 Look at these photos! Trash everywhere, people sleeping in the units, discarded mattresses on the property, and the temperature in the "climate controlled" hallway of my building is 87 !!!! Crazy. It is unbelievable how fast this place has fallen apart over the last year, and all because you no longer have on-site managers! I have had storage units at this facility since 2010. They have allowed this place to completely fall apart- unsanitary and unsafe. Over the last year it just gets worse and worse. During the last two weeks, I have had to go back and forth to my units there. There was a man sleeping/living in a unit in my building! For two weeks there have been discarded, soiled mattresses around the driveway, trash in all the hallways (boxes, discarded furniture, bedding) and the dumpster situation looks like a slum in the worst part of New Delhi. None of this has been touched in two weeks! Plus, I pay for climate-controlled units, and the temp in the interior hallway is 87! (see photos) The final straw for me this week was the full understanding of the stupidity in making the decision to no longer have on-site managers. They only have a kiosk for you to interact with, and it was broken. So, there was no way to get anything accomplished- no way to complain, no way to get anything fixed - no way to get anything done except by phone (and I made 12 calls and still go nowhere). Apparently, the policy now is to have one manager cover five property locations- and that is impossible. So, it is no wonder the place has gone to hell- there is no one on the property to manage it. Twice I tried to reach the district manager (Zack) to have him come see the property and hear my complaints. NO RESPONSE. Oh, and the rate on my unit has TRIPLED over the last 18 months. Thanks for that- because it is unbelievable to be price gouging me when your property looks like a slum in New Delhi. I should have moved out of your facility last year when the collapse started at this Public Storage location. If you don't have on-site management then the facility falls apart because there is no one there to ensure safety, sanitation, and that the facility is in working order. Terrible decision on your part to try and cut costs by getting rid of the on-site property managers. read more

So far, so good. Sylvia was very friendly and professional. The unit was clean and the buildings seem to be well-kept. I've had not-so-good experiences with other storage facilities, but this one seems to be pretty safe. It's in a perfect location (right between Emory and downtown Decatur). I'll update if anything changes, but for right now, I'd recommend it. The price is fair, although their advertised $1 first month is somewhat misleading. Technically, there's a $22 "administrative fee" and they require insurance on the unit. If you purchase insurance through them - the lowest price is $11/mo. So, after all that is considered, the price is $34 for the first month. It's still a good deal and cheaper than PODS. They also recommend a round padlock, which they sell for about $18. You can find the same type of lock on Amazon for about $5 less, but it's not a huge investment for the added security. read more

Sylvia was helpful, personable and informative in all my contacts with her during the year in which I rented a storage unit. She is a decided asset to Public Storage. I would still have my belongings there except for the fact that my storage rent was raised almost 50% for the coming year. As I understand it, now, the company seems to offer very compelling rates for the first year and then hikes them dramatically the next. I researched and found another storage company in my area which offered a much better rate and in a climate-controlled building, which was not the case with Public Storage. read more

This Public Storage facility is very secure, well lit, clean, and air-conditioned. Zero complaints. One Public Storage employee, Sylvia, went out of her way to help me and wanted to make sure that I got the best storage experience. Aside from her very personable nature, she offered to exchange the moisture-removing box while I was away, and looked over my movers with me after they had almost bailed on me. She genuinely cares about Public Storage's clients. Sylvia is very helpful and you won't have to be lucky to work with her. She's there most days. read more

I researched on-line for Decatur GA storage prior to arriving in ATL. Ended up using this Public Storage primarily because it is so centrally located, and the first-month for a buck was nothing to ignore! When I arrived I found the facilities to be clean and tidy. And quite secure too. It was necessary to enter a security code at three different locations to get to my inside locker! Then there's Sylvia, who checked me in and showed me the facilities! Just rented a unit here. Sylvia is very good, professional and efficient in her work. Her company provides better deals if you book online, and Sylvia remained gracious even after showing us different sizes of storage and then having us say we would book it on line. I assume this affects her pay but a 15% savings adds up over time. Anyway great job Sylvia; I appreciate your hard work and pleasant demeanor. Very pleased with the experience. read more

We had a great experience with Sylvia today. I have had one of my units since 2001 and another unit since 2013. Today, we moved out of one and Sylvia was kind enough to assist us with the closing. It was sad, but she made the whole process quick and easy. I am introducing my cousin to this facility due to Sylvia's knowledge and kindness. This is the 2nd Public Storage location that I have rented with and It's my favorite! Easily accessible and so close to my residence. You'll be greeted with a smile from Sylvia at the front office. She was so helpful with my moving in process. It really puts me at ease when companies hire employees with great outgoing personalities! I've been renting my unit for a few months and so far I've had a great experience. The employees are always cordial and helpful and the facilities are always secure and clean. My one critique would be that the restroom stays locked during non-office hours; which is problematic for those of us with bladder control issues! read more

I needed somewhere to store my items in the period between moving out of my dorm and moving into my apartment. Sylvia was absolutely fantastic in terms of accommodating my needs, even though I was clear that I only needed it for the month. they have hidden fees and go up on the monthly payments in less than a year don't let the specials distract you and this particular property is disgusting the ac hasn't worked in months no property manager ever around as advertised they take forever to respond and the customer service is a joke read more
