When I moved my stuff in, a guy told me to turn around as his stuff had been stolen. I ignored the warning. A week later my locker was robbed. Shocker. Luckily the single camera in the area had full view of the locker door but Public Storage management isn't cooperating with the investigation or communicating. The elevator was broken the entire time I was using this storage facility so there was no way to reasonably access the things from my unit. 2/2 Here is the second part I just stood there silently while he typed. He got up and handed me a print out, saying: "That's your receipt." One more question I had to ask and then I would be gone, "I've already paid for the next month what happens now?" "Oh. I don't see that you've paid for next month." ONLY after I said, "I guess it doesn't matter right now, I can bring up the payment." did he offer up the information that yes indeed I did have a refund due. "Oh look! It turns out you do have money coming back." He said that they'd send a check in the mail for the difference. I mentioned I don't have a physical mailing address. He then said I could go online to my account and change it. So I went to go login to my account but the page took a little bit longer to load. Turns out cell signal is not so good in his office and it was taking a few seconds. Big deal. apparently it was a big deal to him. He then said, "You're all done." I mentioned to him that I was waiting for the page to load so I could confirm with him that my information has been updated in his system. I hadn't got that sentence out of my mouth when he yelled at me "Get out!" So here I am leaving this review for him and to follow up an earlier review that was actually solicited from me by Bruce a couple months ago when things were A-OK. Do not, I repeat, do not do business with this facility as long as Bruce is working there. I should've read the reviews before I went to his facility. I should've read reviews before I left the first positive review. I should've read reviews before I started writing this one. Because a lot of those reviews call him out for abusive, shady behavior. I am now joining their ranks and calling him out for abusive behavior. After this review is posted, his supervisor is going to be getting a phone call in addition to the message that I left earlier today. For his supervisor: This is one of the worst run facilities I've had the displeasure of working with. When I moved my things in, I was in a very desperate position. Bruce had given me a good price and I was OK with that. I was OK with the inconvenience of not being able to use the elevator sometimes. I was OK with the facility being a little dirty and under lit at times. I was OK with the fact that I was using a more secure lock than the ones he was tried to sell me and even kept badgering me about the lock, telling me he hated it and I should get a different one. I was even OK with the fact that it seemed like no man's land at the gate with people tailgating in and not punching in their own gate code. (Some weeks ago, I was almost hit by another customer who did that and Bruce didn't give a rats ass.) The other thing he does, which is terrible, is he puts out requests for next months storage fees only a week and a half to two weeks after the previous month begins. Even my old landlord wouldn't ask for rent until the week it was due. This guy was asking for it 2 1/2 weeks before it was due! He needs to be working another job where he doesn't interact with customers or simply in our shoes too an be without financial mobility. Fire him. read more

This review is mixed. We moved into a unit in 2019 and 4 months later the storage unit increased in price by 30%+! Then 8 months after that they increased my unit by another 23%! So from a year since we've moved in, the price for the unit increased by 60%. To put it in perspective, I was paying less than $150/mo. when I first moved in (after the discounts/specials have come off) and now it'll be over $225/mo. after 12 months! They have similar sized storage units that are even lower than the price the FIRST time we moved in, so we're going to have to move our stuff into a different unit that's half the cost! They're totally ripping off their customers who aren't paying attention to their bills. They said it's policy to increase once a year. There's price gouging for sure. At some point, we'll have to try other storage facilities that are nearby since this facility believes in optimizing price for them at their customers' inconvenience is OK. I give 1-star for that. No business, who survives long term, screws their customers. All others, I give 4-5 stars. I agree with other comments about a well maintained facility, great interaction with facility manager and staff, great move-in experience, etc. They do not have on premise cameras to monitor any potential thefts. The buildings could be better lit, but that's not as much of a concern. Too bad they feel it necessary to extract as much money as they can from their customers. read more

Part 1/2 This is long. Apologies in advance. So I'm going to borrow a line from Reddit and just say, TLDR Storage manager was rude, non-empathetic, uncaring and yelled at me. But this is worth reading, so I continue. You have been warned. Bruce! Bruce, Bruce, Bruce. What can I say about Bruce other than he was perfectly pleasant to me from moving date several months ago until today. I'm part of a large neighborhood community in the neighborhood where this address is. One person from the community asked me a question regarding late payments due to COVID-19 related job loss and illness. An honest question given the circumstances today. I mentioned as how I found that a bummer. I do what I need to do and started wondering. "Does any storage place work with people in financial straits? I wonder." So I called around. I called a couple different competing storage spaces in the area. All but one told me much the same thing; There is no contingency plan for people who are having financial problems related to this disease. It doesn't matter that it's keeping them away from work, being let go entirely, or being sick and not being able to do anything. I allowed as how I may not be able to stay with Public Storage if I don't feel protected and it seems the business doesn't have our back. I had not told them I would be moving yet. I simply told him how I felt. It was at this point that he got very defensive and rude. He kept going on about it being a business and needing to make money. I get that. I work in sales. But he kept going and saying he had a long list of people waiting to get spaces and he wasn't concerned about losing me as a customer and they were the biggest storage company and that they didn't have to worry about a few people leaving. On and on like he does sometimes. But this time, I felt some sort of way about it. Well. It only took me a half a second to process that before he continued saying, "No storage space does that for their customers." It was then that I reminded him that I had called around and asked if some places could or do accommodate customers who are having trouble, especially now. When he found out where I was going or plan to go, he got really angry. Bruce began listing off all the things that this other place would do to me. Major red flag! I mentioned that kind of thing makes it ten times more difficult for folks who may be losing their apartments/homes right now. To then also lose the other things they own would be salt in an open wound made worse by having literally no place to store anything in the interim. "I personally disagree with you." He continued. I was done. I couldn't believe my ears. He was actively discounting my concerns and on a personal level as he said. I gathered it had nothing to do with business after that statement. His lack of empathy and humanity shocked me. Not because it was cold but because it was cold when everyone, EVERYONE out here is hurting financially and big businesses are bending in places they normally wouldn't in order to help. It's a human and compassionate experience we are having with our neighbors, bosses, friends, and people we don't even know. Empathy is on the rise everywhere. But not with Bruce and not at Public Storage. That's why it was so shocking. Add to that my simply asking a question on behalf of a neighbor and him going completely rigid and cold. I felt Bruce was unprofessional, unkind, and lacking in empathy. Note to his superiors; He should not be working in customer service. So I moved. I took my business elsewhere. I didn't need to. I have a job and paid ahead for another month. Everything was awesome up to this point. After several trips back and forth, I returned to the office. Earlier, Bruce had informed me that after I had vacated the physical space, he would go walk it with me. But when I pulled the door inside the gate, it was locked. He looked up at me, then back down, ignoring me. So I left to move my truck. I parked on the other side of the gate and returned to use the door on the outside which was unlocked. I hadn't been in the office for a second when he said, "Are you all out? I'm vacating you right now." I WAS actually there to wrap up but I could just as easily have been there to ask to buy some tape or ask permission to utilize two hand carts; He didn't know but said it anyway and kept typing. I mean I'm not really sure what it is I need to review about except the price. It's like seriously they told me ONE storage unit was available when I needed which I don't believe. Then they only have two carts for people to use which seems a little ridiculous considering there are four floors of storage and your unit can be like a MILE away from the entrance. Anyway put my stuff in back in June for a whopping $163.00 a month! For like the second biggest one. Then this is what irritates me. After I call to say I'm cancel ling someone calls to offer me a lower rate. COME ON! Who knew that a storage unit was negotiable. And if it is sooooooo full then why do you need to offer a lower rate. I told them to F off and give me my stuff. read more

I had a really great experience yesterday obtaining a storage locker. Back in 2001, I used this facility to store furniture. I decided to return back once again to use it for only storing containers and suitcases. Jose was very funny, detail-oriented & my experience was excellent. I was able to obtain a locker right where you walk off the elevator. I was very pleased also that I was able to reserve ahead of time by signing up online at their website. All in all, yes- I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs to store their items for a short or an indefinite time. Honesty is the best policy & yeah, I almost left behind my driver's license and you returned it back to me right away. Thanks for a great experience -way to go JOSE! read more

4 stars because Ai'ana was very helpful and friendly when it came to filling out paperwork and showing me the storage space. Minus 1 star because of a rep who didn't inform me of additional costs (insurance, lock) even though I had asked. Also, I was contacted the day before my "move-in" date for a confirmation but it was not noted on their end so I received another confirmation call from Ai'ana the morning of. Ai'ana definitely helped answer any questions I had and made up for the minor issues as mentioned above. Thank you! *My belongings were in the storage unit for 7 months and that odd smell that greets you once you enter the building? Oh it seeped through all my clothes. There was mold on some of my purses. Some had so much that I didn't even bother trying to clean it off. :( read more

We had a reservation to move in and I called twice to confirm I was coming after they called me, but I didn't know the exact time on the move-in date I was coming and said I would call. I called the day before arriving to confirm our arrival as well as the morning of. I provided my reservation number over the phone before coming in. Upon arriving, we were told our reservation had been cancelled by the system and that they could no longer honor the previous rates. We called corporate customer service who said the same thing; they were unable to offer the rate. I was extremely frustrated to have my time wasted and I will never try to use Public Storage again because I don't feel they run an honest business. Fortunately there are alternative options available and we will search elsewhere. read more

It looks very well maintained. It feels very well kept and safe. The manager/owner does a very good job!!!! Its a semi small to medium size location between San Francisco and the peninsula. It's off of the highway and a semi big busy street!! Great location. It has a gated portion and an ungated portion for parking. Would highly recommend!!! read more

If you want anything of value to be protected, DO NOT GO TO THE MISSION STREET PUBLIC STORAGE! There is a gap above the wall of the units. Someone (probably kids) climbed over the wall of my unit and rifled through all my stuff, cut open boxes with box cutters, and stole a telescope. The first time I told management, they did nothing. They didn't even make a note in my account. The second time I told them, they made an incident report and told me to call the insurance. When I called insurance they said they can't do anything because "there was no forced entry". How can there be forced entry when someone can simply crawl over the wall of the unit? I have called the district manager several times to let them know they have a problem and should put a screen above the walls. I HAVE GOTTEN ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE AT ALL. In conclusion, if you have anything of value that you need to store, avoid Public Storage, it is not secure and they don't give a damn. read more

First time renting out a storage space and let me tell you, I had a great experience. I was first assisted by a woman named CHELSEA she was great! Showed me my size storage to make sure it was good enough for me as well as double checking to make sure she did things right the first time, upon returning for my first day "move in" a women named DANIELLE was extremely kind and was patient with me especially being a first timer with all these questions I had. unfourtanly the elevator wasn't working but for Danielle that wasn't at all problem, she anxiously showed me the way from the other side of the location on how I can easily get through. I kept my things at Public Storage for a year and a half. Never had any security issues, leaks, or damage to my items. Moving in and out was an easy experience. They really bump up the costs after your promo price period is over, so I wouldn't recommend it for longterm storage.
