BEWARE!!!!!!! The manager Shawna or Shawnda is very rude and you will be charged for months of rental you do not use. Their customer service agreed I would be refunded for the month I never used and then they submit the request for a full refund based on the fact that I did not move in AND also that they had rented out my unit to someone else already. I was wrongly charged for and paid for an entire month of rental on a unit I never moved in to and never got to use. AND someone else also paid for the entire month of rental on that SAME unit and so they collected rent twice for the same unit for the same month and denied a refund that their customer service told me I would get. And then she tried to block and close my account out so that corporate/customer service was unable to even get in to my account to assist me and when I called she admit that she did that. I had to open a claim with corporate, beware before renting here. there are much better storage facilities in Roger's Park. read more

I just "moved in" yesterday. The online rental and self check-in process was quick, easy and painless. Accessing the unit was also easy. I haven't talked to anyone face-to-face yet since I haven't run into any problems so can't speak to the customer service but the text communication makes it seem like they are available and willing to help. My only complaint is if they could have later hours. The building is only accessible from 6am-6pm. I wish they could be open until like 8 at least. read more

Don't go here unless you're ready to face regular price increases. Started mid 2019 and price increased from $55 to $85 in less than two years. 55% price increase. Then got kicked out with only option is to move to another location miles away. When you find this location for convenience since I don't have a car, this is no good. I genuinely despise this storage company. I live 1500 miles from home, and my college gave us a week's notice to vacate the dorms. My stuff had to go somewhere, and public storage was offering $1 rent for the first month. I clearly didn't have time to do more research. They caught me with all of the hidden fees. I think I paid $75 for everything. The lady that helped me move my stuff in was disgustingly apologetic. She kept saying stuff like "are you mad at me?" in a whiny voice. Obviously I wasn't going to yell at her; I've worked service too, but her tone made me want to kick a wall. I will NEVER use public storage again, and if you're considering it, I would say google whomever their biggest competitor is and give your money to them instead. I don't hate many things, but I would sacrifice my firstborn to watch the CEO of this company burn in hell. read more

I stand by my earlier one-star rating of this facility as it was derived from the conditions of the facility itself and the fact that my rent has increased 3 times in less than two years. I am updating that review with this 3-star review strictly for customer service. As I mentioned in my earlier review, Darlene is an agreeable employee and my only beef with her is that she pushes for tenants to post favorable reviews, which is a practice I detest. I came to this location with an unusual problem regarding a seriously disabled client who was facing the auction of the contents of his storage spaces at another Public Storage location. The counter attendant, Lea-Ann, was tenacious in addressing the problem and unfailingly pleasant throughout the process. With her help, the problem got solved. read more

I highly recommend this storage facility! Lea-Ann was amazingly helpful and friendly. I really can't say enough nice things about her. When my original reserved space turned out to be too small, she quickly found a larger space that fit my needs. The space was clean and there were large carts to take items from the moving truck to my storage space. One bonus is that it is a 5minute walk from my new apartment. I think $67 per month is pretty steep for a 5x8 space, no heat & severally restricted access hours (til 6pm Mon-Fri and til 5pm on weekends.) Their prices for the "quick-kit" box I think it's called was cheaper- so I did head back. Got what I needed, I am unsure how the storage itself works as I was only there to get boxes. read more

I want to say that I have had the opportunity to acquire storage space at the Public Storage on Jarvis. Which was the ideal location, right after storing my stuff, I was able to treat my friends and myself to Renee's Public House eatery right next store. However, I'd like to comment about the wonderful service I received from Darlene with Public Storage, I arrived the day before to secure my storage and was very happy that I was able to receive a walk through of the storage space and all the information I needed. The next day, I arrived and Darleen was there and assisted me with locating dolly's for my move up the convenient elevator to my storage on the second floor. Overall I had a good experience at this location, my stuff was safely stored for about four years. Darlene, who works the office, is very kind and helpful. However, the prices are steep ($84/month for a 5x5 space) and the hours are limited. A few times I needed to get access to my stuff but it was after 5pm on a Sunday so I had to wait. Also, when I moved out I found a number of spider eggs (eww) attached to various boxes. You might want to shop around for better prices in the neighborhood, but if you're like me and live only a block away the convenience factor is rather nice. read more

My locker was sold illegally. I left for Hawaii with two suitcases and a carry-on. Everything else I put into a storage locker with Public Storage. So much was lost. It is frustrating as ****. BEWARE. I rented unit to put all of my belongings in while I was traveling. After paying 23 months for the unit, I received an email explaining my auto payment did not go through because of a credit-card update issue. When I was able to call in to address the issue a few weeks after, the person on the phone then told me my unit had already been sold at auction. I called Public Storage several times, and I have received different versions of what Public Storage did. Depending on which story to go with, Public Storage violated two or more Illinois laws. First, under the Self-Service Storage Facility Act, once in default, I should have been notified by verified mail or electronic mail the unit was in danger of being auctioned. In the phone calls I had in the months after the auction, I was told that neither a letter nor email was said to be sent of such. Second, when I was finally able to reach a district manager on Feb 2, 2016, she informed me that there had in fact been a letter sent on December 21, 2015. What she says might not mean anything, as the letter might not be compliance with law. Nevertheless, even presuming a valid notice was sent out, the transaction is still in violation of Illinois law. Under the Self-Storage Facility Act, EVEN IF a lein notice is sent out, the sale cannot take place any sooner than 29 days after the letter is sent out. (Public Storage has to give me 14 days to reply, then if I don't reply, Public Storage can publish my unit for auction, but cannot sell the unit until 15 after first the first ad.) Therefore, supposing even if a valid lein notice was sent, Public Storage, despite saying "it strives not to sell an occupant's belongings", sold the unit before it became legal to do so. I have reached out to the Better Business Bureau, and I'll hope to update when Public Storage replies. read more

I just signed the lease to my new apartment and I found that this Public Storage was right around the corner. It's good to have a storage unit to take the pressure off having to deal with 19 years of "stuff" while I try to organize myself. So I thought Storage would be a good option to sort things out in the big move. I applied online and got the discount. Darlene called me within minutes and made the arrangements for me to come by and get set up. It was quick and easy. I bought a tough secure lock that I get to keep and found out that cheap insurance was also an option so I got that taken care of immediately. There's a fee to start but all the charges were less than a months rent and you get the first month free so I was ok with that. Darlene was cheerful and friendly and managed three customers including myself at the same time and everything went quick and smooth. I'm glad I found it. The place is clean and secure.
