I would rate it a negative one, if that was possible. This location is managed by someone that finds it funny to keep calling and asking to speak to my deceased mother. I even have a recording of her and another female giggling as they say my mothers name when they know she died months ago. I do not care if the rent is past due or not, it is almost demonic to sink to that type of low for a dollar. I used to think otherwise of the manager because she has been there forever and seemed like a person with some home training, but once she started intentionally calling and asking to speak to my deceased mother, it's time for corporate to consider restaffing the place with someone mature enough to manage it. read more

First, the $29 admin fee when I input all the information is pretty much just profit. Next, when leaving, the gate refused to open and said the code was invalid. I called the office, but got vm. I still haven't gotten a reply 24hrs later. I had to walk through the whole place to find the worker to reset the code. Had she not been there, there's no telling how long I would have been trapped. read more

I am posting my issue here because I have not gotten any response by phone or email. I was patient and waited for weeks for the property manger to be true to her word. Below is my original email I sent to the General Manager, I am still waiting a response. I am writing as a last result to rectify a registration error made on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Cheverly Public Storage(PS). In addition to the registration error there were several other issues I would like to bring to your attention. First, it was impossible to find the storage unit as none of the three buildings have numbers listed on them. I am not sure how management expects customers to find their unit as there is no one on the property to assist nor is there a map provided. I was also shocked that on my attempt to access the unit(D018) it was already occupied. I can only assume there was a registration error or a customer mistakenly put their belongings in the unit I was scheduled to occupy because of the lack of labeling (yes, I checked all three buildings to be sure I did not overlook unit 18). Finding the unit already occupied was more than an inconvenience; I relocated to the area from Georgia and had arrived that morning at 8 am. With the movers arriving at 9 am to unload my belongings from the truck to the storage unit and no where else to temporarily store my stuff, I was stuck!!! I attempted to call Customer Service to get a resolution but they could not help me. I had no choice but to find another storage unit. I incurred double the cost for an error that was no fault of my own. I called the Cheverly PS office and left a message explaining the issue and ask the property manager to call me back. She called me later that day, I explained the issue in detail again and she told me that she would need to contact her GM for permission to reimburse me for the administration and rental fee.(refer to the attachment below). When she called me back she apologized for the numbers not being on the building and said that I would be reimbursed. The issue that I have is that I am still being billed for the admin fee. I am not sure what your customer service policy is but I received the best care at the Odenten PS location on Lamonte avenue, but I have not been compensated for the inconvenience and cost occurred no fault of my own from the Cheverly PS location. Please, can you assist with the outstanding amount and at least provide some type of acknowledgement for the time and money lost during this transaction? So I had a unit here for about a year. I always kinda let my payments double up then pay the bill. So here I am finally trying to move my things out before the next day because a new bill will roll in. I called left messages no one returned my call that day or the next. How I got in contact with anyone I had to call customer service and act like I was going to set up a new account. 2. So they allow me to move my things out on the first even though a new bill rolled in which was great. My problem is 1 with this man/woman I can't tell...property manager simply seen me grabbing the last five items I had in the unit went behind my back and put their lock on it. Which isn't a problem either but these 5 items all but 2 could fit inside my car so I couldn't put those back because of the lock so I left it gate code still worked so I could drop this and come right back for it....she denied my access code. Terrible customer service even at the top of the chain never use this place at all for anything, especially this branch very unprofessional. I used the one at 7700 CENTRAL AVE, in CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD. In a nutshell, THEY DON'T DESERVE ANY STARS FOR REAL! The reviews are not lying, or over-exaggerating about how BAD this property is. Their facility AND customer service are not worth the price. I was with them merely because they had the cheapest rate at the time for the unit size I wanted. However, in the year that I have been with them the price increased twice. I just recently cancelled my account, and have moved my things to CubeSmart. It is a night and day difference. CubeSmart is cheaper, MUCH CLEANER, and has WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better customer service. Now for the stories: 1. My first day of moving things in, I was 15 minutes late pass the 9pm close time. When I knocked on the manager's door to be let out the gate, a man opens the door to the office in his boxers only. There was a woman lying in a bed, so I must have interrupted something. He curses at me that I was "late and not to do this s*** again or next time I wont be let out at all." I laughed it off because I was sure he was kidding, also I would hate for someone to bother me while I was trying to get it in. 2. The bill is due on the first of each month. However they don't add a late fee until the 16th. So I pay faithfully on the 15th. They don't call just for a reminder to pay. They call to ask when are you going to pay, why haven't you paid, and to chastise you for not paying on the first. I just give them the same attitude back, and tell them that "the facilities and service are not worth paying on time." They will try to come at you with an attitude but I personally just hang on them mid sentence. 3. I use the storage for my kids out-grown clothes. I plan to have many more children and reuse the clothes however when I went to go check on their things, I had to throw a lot of stuff away because there were stink bugs and mice feces on their stuff. I am in the process of filing a claim with the insurance, I will post later how that turns out. If you absolutely have to store stuff here, DON'T USE BOXES. Use plastic containers and trash bags. The units are filthy. During your sign-up process, they will even tell you to get your own bug and mice traps. 4. According to their property manager, they don't prorated your move-out date. You can move out on the second, and they will make you pay the entire month. lol Stupid right? 5. For kicks and giggles, google Public Storage and try to contact a corporate representative. In my experience, they constantly direct you to the property manager who, at this location, NEVER answers the phone. If you can, please don't bring your stuff here. I know from personal experience, CUBESMART IS MUCH BETTER. Still don't believe me, just go ask for a tour of the property. But if you don't mind the bugs, mice, and bad attitudes from the two-legged creatures then by all means, this is the place for you. For Public Storage, maybe if your employees didn't have to work, live, sleep, and have sexual relations in the office, they would be a lot nicer. You have to get away sometimes; just a recommendation. Give your employees a break! On the bright side, none of my things were stolen. I used two locks on my unit though. There is way more stuff, but I am just super tired of typing and have homework to do. But if you need more info, just leave a comment. read more

Horrible company. Horrible management. The inside units are always trashy and not well kept. There is vulgar graffiti drawings on the walls. The access gate is left wide open at times letting anyone come in and out!!! The managers will accidentally put a lock on your unit after paying your rent on time, and without notifying you. They lave no note on record. So when you call them afterhours to get help to have somebody come and take the lock off so you can access YOUR items since it's THEIR MISTAKE, the rude lady over at "corporate" acts like there is nothing she can do! Horrible experience. Disgusting facility. Will not put my things in the hands of a Public Storage ever again. read more

The one saving grace is all the ladies that work there are very nice, but they are limited with what they can do. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!
