Ron is the absolute best at what he does. He precisely explained all possible options that were available to me when it came to renting a storage unit. He helped myself and my family find a locate the space were my items would be stored. He also gave me great advice to take a picture of my unit number and passwords to use the online system. Moving my belongings in the unit has been a struggle. There are no carts to transport stuff like other storage units have..

I'm only giving three stars right now because I just leased the space 2 days ago and really haven't fully moved anything in. Based on the leasing process it was very pleasant. The facility looks clean, orderly, and somewhat secure. However, I do wish they would have pointed out the security cameras that was mentioned in the company-produced survey. Guess I'll have to inquire about it when I do my full move-in in a couple of days. Really hoping there isn't a mice/rat problem as stated in some of the other reviews. Place is a scam. Do not use this facility!! They are not upfront and refused the keys from my husband on March 2nd when he tried to close the unit and made him pay for the entire month of March although the unit is empty. Now we are in a pandemic and I am getting harassing calls and emails that I need to pay for a unit my husband has been closed out but they refused the keys and are now still trying to continually charge me. We are not risking our families' health to turn in keys that the mgr refuse to take 2 months ago!! If I could rate this place a 0 I would but since I can't I am going to blast this place until I get a call from corporate on every social platform I can find b/c they are scamming to make people pay for units they are no longer using to make their store goals!! read more

Do not store your possessions at Public Storage, in particular, 8701 Central Ave! If you are currently a future victim please look into many other great facilities such as cube smart that offer you a free moving van and honor there first month free promotion. I have been a customer of two years and in that time my rate has increased tremendously I mean this isn't my first rodeo with storage facility's and am fully aware of state laws and permissible increase of rent. In addition, they have the nerve to add an additional increase for "beautification" of the property with out notification. Why this addition ticks me off so bad is that for almost a year their bathrooms were down, how cute! The storage space it self had a severe RAT/MICE infestation. Here's the major warning to all, they lack courtesy and communication skills. Anytime a property manager laughs at you and hangs up, you need to take your business elsewhere. Without following proper procedure I was misinformed and long story short my unit's been auctioned off! Maryland lien laws pertaining to storage has been breeched due to a lack of communication via email and alternative contact. I'm now taking the legal route and into litigation. This is a mixed review. My first experience was actually pleasant. I went in to inquire about a unit I had already reserved online. When I got there, I was told some of the internet pricing was off. However, Iesha suggested a different unit that worked with a special they had and my budget, I was grateful. Iesha was pleasant and accommodating I let her know that I would yelp about her courtesy and she asked that I place my review on another site that her company prefers. No problem she was good, her coworker, not so much. Fast forward: A day later,I get a follow up call about my experience leasing the unit, I let them know it went well. Four days later, another call from a not so nice rep, reminding me to give them a good review and where to write it. I was in the process of moving and hadn't had the time to sit down and write reviews and while I planned on doing it, it was not a top priority. Now, the special Iesha assisted me with was the first month for one $1 and then the regular rate for any additional months I was there. I only planned on being there one month during settlement of my house. I leased the space 9/22/15 by 10/8/15 I'd received three calls reminding me of my balance due 11/1/15. I informed her that I would only be there a month and I asked was it standard for them to call everyone with a unit weekly reminding them of their balance, Yes. I let her know again, I would only be there a month she said oh yeah it's in the notes, I called before I read them. The calls were border line harassment, I moved out on 10/18/15, never again. read more

Not happy at all with my experience there. They did a classic bait and switch. I was renting there only a couple of months before receiving an email stating they'd be increasing my rent by $30 over the $130 I was already paying for a 4x10 unit. I'm curious what additional services would come with the rent increase. I suspect nothing! I told them I'd be moving out before the end of the month canceling my unit there. I found a space the same size for half the price at extra space storage. I paid in advance to lock in the price. So now public storage can add my empty unit to all the other empty units that are there collecting $0 dollars in rent. I just don't see how that's a good business strategy. I will not do business there again nor will I recommend them to anyone going forward. The only reason I gave 1 star is because of the location. read more

Poor customer service. Lack of resolution. General manager Fred Jones makes a LOT of excuses for their mishaps.

An employee by the name of "San" misrepresented himself as a property manager and communicated incomplete information to me about my account. Both he and the Assistant Property Manager, Kiara, were rude and unnecessarily confrontational, when I sought clarification about my account. San, in particular, comes off as very immature, unprofessional and a very poor communicator. Kiara was mildly aggressive and unfriendly in front of other customers. Both were very inconsiderate and untactful. My initial concerns were valid and easy to resolve, but both employees were immediately defensive and did not treat me with respect and courtesy. 1-Star. read more

I am finally moving out of this place! This place is infested with mice and the bathrooms have been out of order for a couple of months now. Also, they may seem cheap but don't be fooled you will get a 25% to 30% increase in prices (mine went from $204 to $244) within a few months of moving in. And you can't do anything about it except move to another location, but who really wants to do that. Lastly, they make you give an ID to take a cart and the one and only time I did this (bought my own now) they gave my ID to the wrong person and it was a mess and they tried to blame me!! I have stored my belongings multiple times as I was in the military and moved a lot and by far this is the worse place! I do not recommend. read more

I had an exceptional experience with Ms. Marcie, she was very informative and super helpful. I've dealt with other storage companies in the past and it's never a good experience. So, one can only imagine how refreshing it is to be greeted with such professionalism. Actually the entire staff was super nice as well. It was really late and the store was soon to close and Ms. Marcie took her time making sure everything was done efficiently and accurately. I will definitely recommend Public Storage to everyone who inquired and tell them to visit Marcie and any of the other great associates there. Do not recommend parking a car in storage at this facility. I had my car parked at this facility and my vehicle tags were stolen. It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with tickets, etc. for the last three months. I was away from the area and left the car at what I thought was a safe place, but it was not. Then even after the tags were stolen I received absolutely no help, assistance or support from anyone in filing a police report even though it took place at this facility. I also thought this facility had cameras where the cars were parked, which was not the case, So, do not recommend placing a car here for long term storage. read more

I rented a storage unit and a couple of months later the rent increased. In November 2018 I was charged a $38.00 late fee even though on the contract it gives the 15th as the late date. In December 2018 I was again charged a late fee of $38.00 even though the rent was paid before the 15th. I physically visited Public Storage to discuss this concern, but the facility was semi~dark and the door was locked, yet there were two female employees sitting there talking on the phones. I knocked on the door and one of the young ladies opened the door (very unwelcoming). I inquired about the late fee and she proceeded to tell me that in the state of Maryland the late fee calendar date had been changed to the 6th of the month. I told her that I never received notification of that change and she insisted that the notice had been both mailed and emailed. I asked her to show me what she alleges was sent to me, but she claimed that she couldn't pull it up on line. This young lady's demeanor was negative, borderline disrespectful and void of compassion!!! The only mail that I ever got/get from Public Storage are my receipts. I never got an addendum showing any kind of 'late fee' calendar date change(s). I called the corporate customer services and they in turn gave me a number to the District Manager. Public Storage - at least at this location, focuses on scamming customers. First, I reserved two units under a promotion for two weeks in the future (maximum time available in the future) and was called within a couple of hours telling me that if I didn't come in right away I would most likely lose the unit. This is a system I have never heard of - basically a reservation does not mean you reserve the unit. What I was told is that I reserved the promotional rate. So it was possible that I would turn up on the day I arrived with my 3 BR household goods and car (I am moving overseas) only to find out I did not have a unit. So, I went in this morning (my earliest time available) to reserve for 10 days from now. So now on to the continued scamming - I had to buy their cylinder lock (how does a customer purchase one of these on the outside - they are specific to the storage units themselves); I had to start payment today, even though it was clear the unit would not be occupied until next week; the salesperson included "Damp Rid" on my bill even though I did not ask for it (I could not see this on the invoice I was asked to sign as it was consolidated in a supplies item); I had to purchase their insurance on the spot or I could not reserve the unit - even for my vehicle (of course I have insurance covering my vehicle including any damage I may cause with my vehicle); the killer was being told that the promotion only applied to one unit. The sales person, even scrolled through the rental agreement "for me" very quickly until I had to tell him to stop doing so because I wanted to read it. And indeed I had questions - like the language on Public Storage being able to increase the monthly rental amount by simply providing 30 days notice. The Manager on Duty - Blendine - tows the party line and perhaps this is what Public Storage wants in its employees but I highly encourage customers looking for storage to steer clear of this location as this is a scam operation. After nearly 90 minutes there, I left without renting a storage unit. The manager stated she could not process a credit for the insurance and admin fee - just the lock and fee I paid to rent the unit for the first month - really?? RENTER BEWARE! read more

I had one of the worse experience at this Public Storage regarding unethical conduct from the manager an employee. Blendine, the manager was rude over the phone and Iesha was beyond ghetto, to the point that she told me to focus on paying my bill, which was definitely unprofessional and unacceptable. She became irate and told me she will take off her work shirt and fight me. Then, called the police when we got into an argument as if she wasn't the reason for the argument. I filed a complaint with customer service and emailed the President and never received a response. As a customer, this is very disappointing because I've patronized PS several times and even referred family and friends, and to be treated this way is unacceptable. So, I'm moving my belonging's out as well as a family member. Therefore, I do not recommend this place. read more
