I have been using PS for a few years because I don't have a garage and this facility is very convenient and reliable. I also added another unit to use temporarily for my renovation. LeeHo has been extremely helpful and has given tips all along. I will continue to use this facility for storing my seasonal stuff. Pls keep up the good customer service! Update: they only have 1 cart for the entire facility. I have yet to use it. I have to bring my own cart. For the amount we pay $100/mo you would think they would buy more carts for their customers to use! read more

Lee Ho was great. I got an uncovered car storage space for a 3 week period. I was able to complete the paperwork at a local Public Storage location (near my home) and then only bring my car to Burlingame when I was ready to drop it off. My car was ok, no scratches or break-ins. And Lee Ho's communication was great. It helped a lot that this location was about 15min. walking distance to the Millbrae BART Station. read more

When I moved to San Francisco from Michigan six years ago, I made an error in judgement. Specifically the judgement of how much stuff will comfortably fit in a tiny apartment without making the denizen feel as if they are in a coffin. See, in the Midwest, land is cheap, rooms / apartments are huge, and the thrift stores are filled with awesome stuff that hasn't been raided by vintage-store-curators. This is a perfect storm for having a lot of stuff. "But hey, who cares? I have the space for it!" Well, if you come to a major metropolitan area, move into a minor apartment, and bring a major amount of stuff, you're asking for trouble... in 2008, after three years living in my coffin, I got a storage unit at the Burlingame Public Storage. This was the beginning of three years of paying to keep 80% of my stuff in a vault somewhere down the Peninsula (the unit prices in SF-proper were horrendous), while I had a comfortably light amount of stuff in my living space. Also, thanks to the recession, I've had to move back to MI temporarily twice in the last two years, and my bay-area rooms keep getting smaller and smaller, as my money gets smaller and smaller. If I tried to fit everything from my storage unit into my current thimble-sized room, I would have to rewrite the rules of spacial dynamics. It's been handy having the unit, especially with the fact that having so much of my stuff in a box kept me "one-foot-in-the-doorway" in California, and prevented me from saying "Ahhh screw it, I'm staying in Michigan!" Well, things are a bit different now, (Unless I manage to snag a job within the next month.) I'm about to move back to Michigan again, this time emptying out my storage unit and shlepping all my stuff across I-80 once more. What better time to write a review about a storage facility? Since my intro was so meandering, I'll keep the review short. Public Storage in Burlingame is very good! The $1 first month's rent comes in handy, and the monthly rates are relatively good. The facilities are clean, and I've never seen evidence of critters getting into my stuff. Amusingly, there used to be a family of birds that lived near the ceiling, but the metal fencing at the top of each unit keeps your stuff protected. The birds seem to have been evicted, as I don't hear them anymore. I can't really think of much else to say about the place, as it does what it needs to, and the concept of a storage unit is pretty simple. The only reason I gave the place 4 stars, not 5, is because I really really wish that there was later access (better yet, 24 hour access) to the facility. I can understand keeping the office personnel in during normal hours, but I'm a crazy night owl / insomniac, and the ability to get through the gate to sort stuff at my storage unit at 3am on a boring, sleepless night (such as this one), would be nice. I realize that this is probably policy from the corporate mothership, not a Burlingame-based decision, but still, I just wanted to note that. It would also be nice if they had a dumpster on site that customers were allowed to use, as opposed to the locked-up one that has a camera pointed at it. I end up having to dump broken furniture in the dumpster of a local industrial place, and I feel sort of skeezy doing it. Even thought it'll be nice to live in a place again where I have all my stuff in my house, I'll sort of miss going to my storage unit on a quiet weekday night, when no one, or hardly anyone was there, and spending a few hours sorting. I'd put my iPhone on a stack of stuff, start up a music playlist, and try to force myself to sort out things to sell / donate / trash. Once I was able to get past the worst of my sentimentality, I could achieve the zen-like experience of getting rid of STUFF. read more

Great experience renting a storage unit today. Reserved a 5X5 online at a really great price, and then had a minimum of paperwork to fill out on site. Lee Ho walked me to my unit, showed me how to get in and out of the facility, and was a pleasure to deal with in general. I drove a bit further to use this particular storage facility because they had the best prices listed online, and I'm glad I did. read more

This was my first time renting a storage unit and it was an awful experience. First, the "$1 first month" promotion is not accurate at all. They require that you pay for insurance ($15/month), buy a specific type of lock from them ($20 up front), and pay an administrative fee ($25 up front). Only the administrative fee was advertised online. On top of this, I got an email from public storage saying I needed to pay an additional $16 only 2 weeks after I moved into my space without any provided reason. I called the facility and the person on the phone didn't have any useful information other than just to ignore it... Honestly this entire experience (reserving the space online, moving in, payment, etc) has been a hassle, and I hope I never need to rent a storage unit again. read more

This company is ripping off the public discreetly. I rented a unit over the weekend and I was told that I need to have insurance and that they charged me $11 for the insurance coverage. I told them that I did not need the insurance as I am covered by my homeowners insurance policy. I was then told that it was company policy that the contents have to be insured and that I need to purchase their insurance and for me to check my insurance policy. If I am covered they will cancel the insurance I bought from them. I called my ins broker and said I was covered as I had expected. I called Public Storage and told them I am insured and I want to cancel the policy and a refund of my $11. They told me they can cancel the insurance policy but can't give me a refund because I am covered for a month and the cancellation will go in effect the following month. I went to the storage office the following day and demanded my refund. They said they can't because IT IS COMPANY POLICY. They even joked about me for complaining for $11 only and I am the only one who has complained. They further suggested I call their regional manager. Little did they know I called him earlier and he did not return my call. I don't understand the company policy. They are not up front with their customers as they know most people will assume that if they cancel the insurance they will automatically get a refund but it gets forgotten. Figure how many units does Public Storage have across the country (or is it only in this facility) and multiply it by $11 (Is it small change now?) It's not the $11 - it's the deceit that gets me. By the way another rip off is that you have to buy a lock from them for $19 even if you have your own lock. BEWARE ... nice facilities, "friendly" employees ... a snake in the grass read more

Clifford helped me sign my lease and move in this weekend. He was very thorough, quick, and polite. He was very attentive to all aspects of the move-in process. The premises only has two dollies and you have to ask for them to be unlocked, which is inconvenient for times the office is closed or they are both in use. read more

Looking for a storage unit was extremely time sensitive and stressful but luckily I was able to come across a steal price at Public Storage for $33 a month for a 5 X 5 unit! When I got to the unit, Lee Ho (the manager) made my transition even smoother with great customer service as she gave out tips on extra protection for my items in the unit and the best times to come. As an added bonus, the entire faciilty is brand new, clean and easy to access straight off of the freeway. It must be in the public storage water, because LeeHo and Taylor were such a huge help, I decided to rent my unit right away.... I'm not moving for another week! After calling over 30+ rental facilities and visiting countless others, I was recommended by Art at the Daly City PS facility to check the availability of the Burlingame office. I walk into the office to check availability, and to be honest I was floored by the: 1. Cleanliness- being a brand new facility, this place is impressive. Looks like i can eat off the floor! 2. Pricing- More competitive than I would think a facility this new to be. It's actually the best deal IN THE ENTIRE BAY AREA.!!! 3. Customer Service- This was the most impressive bit about the rental. Taylor answered every question and showed me what I did incorrectly when I first started this process. She was amiable and respectful, and I enjoyed the interaction very much. Lee Ho has experience, style, and the skills to ensure that every customer leaves out of there with a smile. She gave me tips on moving, showed me multiple units, and made sure I understood everything I signed. YOUR BELONGINGS ARE NOT SAFE HERE. Your units are easily broken into. There has been THREE robberies over the course of 5 weeks. 5 units were broken into the first time, then 7 units were broken into the second time, and then an additional 5 more units were hit on the third time (second floor enclosed units). Some units were deliberately broken into twice and the repetitive pain that this incident has left on some of these valued customers is absolutely unacceptable and devastating. I appreciate Lee Ho's concern, but after learning that this has happened MANY times over the 10 years that she's been working there, it's disappointing that Public Storage has taken NO accountability for their customers, since no further security measure has been taken to solve this problem. According to the Burlingame Police Department, they also have been trying to get Public Storage to have better security cameras for YEARS, and yet they are still choosing to do nothing about it. Public Storage has clearly disappointed me. They have still not bothered to fix their poorly secure wire fence, as the barbed wire is just dangling off the fence there now. I highly advice everyone with a unit there to either leave Public Storage or take a clear and descriptive inventory of all of your items and belongings. Plan for your items to be stolen so you won't be disappointed when it does happen. read more

Lee ho got me all the packing materials I needed. She did not try to upsell me, I could tell she's a genuine person who enjoys helping people out. She knows her customers so well she saw my truck outside the leasing office and recommended an upsize for me at a reasonable price, my stuff just keeps adding up haha. A power outage happened when I was inside the building. I was locked in and there were no response from the phone calls I made to the office. I managed to let myself out of the building and there were nobody on site. My car was locked in and there were no emergency number to call. There was no emergency/manual button to unlock the gate. The staff should be here at least to let people out. They took the day off. I did meet Lee and she said nobody has the key to unlock the gate. She left quickly. All the staff took the day off. **Avoid this place** My unit, as well as 3 others were broken into over the course of the last month. The fact that there were multiple break-ins was confirmed by management as well as the police. Thieves broke in, cleaned out units, and replaced the locks so nothing looks out of place. Onsite staff did not seem too concerned about the break-ins. I had rented a unit from another storage place and it ended up being too small. Because they were closed on the weekends I had to quickly find a new storage place for a few large furniture items I had. After calling the Public Storage number to reserve a unit (which was also VERY helpful and friendly)...I got to Public Storage Lee was absolutely amazing!! She could tell it had been a stressful day and was able to get me a unit even larger than I needed but it made it SO much easier to load in my stuff.
