Rediculous. A $24 a month rate hike for my unit I've had less than 6 mos. it's expensive as it is since they require you have insurance. I called customer service and I was told it was a "business" decision by the company. It's In The contract. Basically, you sign a contract with, yes it's month to month, but they can rate hike you at any time. I'm going to be looking for another place to store my stuff. Was it a business decision to have all the lights in from on my unit out of order for 3 months out of the 6 mos that created a safety issue? They didn't care about that. I was told, it's on a service order. It took 3 months! Do me a favor shop around. These guys straight price gouge. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They repeatedly lock their doors without notice. They often close early. They made it incredibly inconvenient to move your stuff out. If you want to borrow a car you have to leave your ID and if they Lock that door with your ID you are out of luck. read more

STAY AWAY! We had our storage unit broken into, completely ransacked with each item in the 10x15 unit rummaged through. The ceiling fencing was clipped at multiple points in order for items to be removed. I was told a number of units in the past month were broken into, and the property manager said, "it would be bad business for us if we informed our tenants other units were broken into..." We had the police come out twice to take a report and to have a CSI have a look. The 2nd morning when CSI came out, the property manager zoomed off in her car at the sight of the CSI. My guess it's a crooked inside job. You've been warned - stay away. read more

Normally I wouldn't be caught writing a review, but after 1+ year of having my items in this facility with nothing but POOR customer service I decided it was finally time to speak up. I moved my items into this facility back in March of 2017. I had really bad customer service on my initial visit, but I was new to the area and this was the only climate controlled unit I could find within my budget and the vicinity of my new home. Every time I went into the store to borrow the cart or just ask a question in general I was greeted with hostility and nastiness, it got to the point that I refused to even set foot on the property and I would send my Boyfriend over there if we needed anything. The last straw came a few weeks ago on June 28th 2018. I called to asked a simple questions about my payment and the Woman I spoke with was condescending and rude, I started to snap back at her since I was over the attitude and she hung up on me. I called back 7 times so I could speak to a Manager and the phone just rang and rang. I decided to call Public Storage Corporate Office and place a complaint. The District Manager called me back within 20 minutes or so, and was also RUDE! I tried explaining my frustrations and she kept talking over me and stated she was currently at the store. She literally would not let me explain my frustrations or express myself, and when I mentioned that I had been calling back at this point for 2 hours trying to speak to the Manager she stated that the phone lines were all being answered. (Basically insinuating I was a liar) What really set me over the edge, was when I asked her what the policy was to move my items out. She smuggle said, they need a 2 day notice. Then she said " Oh you're in luck, today is the 28th so you can remove your stuff by the 30th" then she hung up on me! I immediately called their Corporate Office again, and explained the new issue. I was assured that they would have the Regional Manager call me within 48 hours, and this has yet to happen! Since she has not contacted me, I obtained her phone number and have been trying to reach her for 2 weeks now! It is super sad and disappointing that they lost a good paying customer all because of their lack of customer service! I have used Public Storage before with no issues, but I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION to anyone. read more

I was a loyal Public Storage Brea customer for over 13+ years. I recently cleared out my space because I am downsizing. However, throughout the years of going to my unit I was always pleased at how friendly the front staff was (most recent was Andrea). The facility is temperature controlled and always very clean. Towards the end I was mostly storing holiday decorative items that had sentimental value to me so I wanted to make certain they were stored well and no doubt they were! I have used this Public Storage for storage several times, and I buy boxes here for my moves many times. There's usually a man working who's very helpful. Unfortunately today ANDREA was working. I was about to purchase about $200 in boxes and packing supplies. I wanted to pay with 2 cards and some cash. I wanted the discount since I was buying so many things. She didn't tell me I couldn't use 2 cards in 1 transaction. I asked her to then split the order so I could pay separate. To my huge dissatisfaction she put 9 boxes on 1 transaction, SO I DIDN'T receive ANY DISCOUNT! When I was supposed to get 20-30% off!!!!! She scammed me out of the 30% off! So I ended up canceling the remaining portion of my order because now I wouldn't receive ANY DISCOUNT! When I was told I'd get 30%!!! Never going to use this location EVER again! She continued to be rude and tell me that it wasn't her fault that I wanted to split the payment. When she never told me she couldn't do it. Plus she purposely rang me up with only 9 boxes to avoid giving me the 30% off!!!!! read more

So, how do i begin... I was looking for a clean and safe looking location to store some of my grandparents valuables and saw the storage location near my home. I thought let me call them before i go and waste my time. A young lady named Shanice. I think i spelled it right was not only pleasant but to talk to but very very professional. She understood my concerns and gave me a full run down on what happens from beginning to end. I will say i was impressed. Signing up took only about 5 minutes and it's a month-to-month contract which is great! The price is more than reasonable, as is the price for unit insurance. I also love how clean everything is kept and they even have dollies you can use to move your items in and out. Another great plus is that every unit is climate controlled! Any time there were any concerns regarding my account or if I had any questions myself I always received prompt notice and prompt response. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! YOUR STUFF IS NOT SAFE!!!!! Don't be fooled by all the cameras!! Despite the "look" of a secured facility, let me assure you it is NOT secure at all. I rented here and had to leave after a bad break in they had which affected several customers as well as me. This can all be verified through the Brea Police Dept. Case #12-815 My storage unit, as well as several others, were broken into and robbed during the night. My unit was ransacked and SEVERAL very expensive items of mine were either taken or destroyed. The MAIN problem being that the units walls do not go up to the ceiling. There is only a wire fence covering your unit. The robbers got in during the night after office hours and cut through the wire fencing and jumped from unit to unit stealing and destroying people's belongings. They were apparently renters there who had access, codes and their own unit to keep the stolen goods inside. THEY WERE EVENTUALLY CAUGHT AND ARRESTED AND SENT TO JAIL. However, that didn't help me get all my stuff back. I WILL NEVER EVER RENT FROM A STORAGE FACILITY THAT DOESN'T HAVE WALLS THAT ENCLOSE FULLY TO THE CEILING. The "insurance coverage" is NOT GOOD either. They only insure up to a certain amount and they don't do replacement value, but rather depreciated value. So, I was unable to replace most of my things. (not to mention some things were irreplaceable.) *** I had over $8,500.00 worth of items stolen from me in this facility and the insurance only covered about half of that. Public Storage did nothing to help me. I BEG YOU NOT TO RENT IN THIS FACILITY OR ANY OTHER STORAGE FACILITY THAT DOESN'T HAVE FULLY ENCLOSED UNITS!!!! I would give it negative stars if I could. read more

I tried to go to pick up some boxes and moving supplies from here at 1pm they had a sign on the door that said they would be back at 1:30pm. Went back at 2pm sign on the door said they would be back at 2:30pm. I went to have a late lunch, and came back at 3:30pm. Sign on the door said they would be back at 4pm. Apparently someone comes and changes the we'll be back in.... sign but no one actually works here. After three failed attempts to get my boxes I will not be going back. read more

MY STORAGE UNIT WAS ROBBED TODAY!! I received a call today a bit before 11am by management. Was told that my unit amongst 12 others were broken into somewhere between closing last night and 9 this morning. The lady told me that she walked through the entire property yesterday and apparently checked every single units locks, and they were ALL locked.. I drove to the storage facility, found out what items were stolen then went straight over to management to discuss. (Side note: I noticed my unit door was not pried open, n there seemed to be no scratches or scuff marks on the doors. Was right away told that my units slide latch lock has been cut off and the criminals took the latch and my locks with them.. but before I even arrived, Public Storage had already replaced the slide latch, so I did need to put a new lock on.) I asked if the police had been called which they told me that wasn't their job, it was mine, since MY stuff had been stolen! So I called the police right away to report. The police arrived asked the lady if the cameras caught anyone wheeling out a giant toolbox, which management answered that to respect peoples privacy there are no cameras inside the facility. Um, what?? How am I supposed to feel that MY items are safely stored if there are no cameras inside to catch anyone steal??? The police officer asked if the outside camera caught anyone outside the facility, which she said no and that she had checked the camera footage over and over and saw nothing. The officer asked how many units had been broken into and management said only 4.. but wait, they told me earlier over the phone 12 other units had also been broken into. To me, this seems like an inside job for sure! Everyone who enters the facility has to enter a "secret" code, then to get into an actual unit there is a trip wire. If you don't enter the correct code in the beginning then open ur unit door an alarm goes off! I know this because it happened to me one time! So why can't they check the system to find out which tenants entered their "secret" code to gain access into the facility between closing last night and opening this morning??? I was told "sorry" by I guess the district manager, and offered a free lock! Wow, thanks!!!! I pay waaaaay too much (with a price that goes up every couple of months!!) to have my stuff stolen!! With all the money they make, they can surely afford cameras INSIDE the facility!! I guess that's why they call it PUBLIC storage, it's open to the public to take all our stuff!!!! Do not store at this facility! I rarely take the time to write reviews, but my experience at this Public Storage has inspired me to warn others. Stay away! I needed a small storage space in the Brea area, so I looked around. This location was convenient and had great Yelp reviews. The rental rate wasn't the lowest and the hours were less than I hoped for, but I only needed the space for six months or so, so I settled for the convenience. Big mistake. When I got my unit, I asked for one close to the door and they said it was pretty close to the door on the first floor. I signed on the dotted line and then the person setting me up didn't even know where it was - they had to consult their map. Of course, it was almost as far away from the door as you could get. The facility was not clean and the automatic lights in the hall heading to my space in the farthest back corner had a section that didn't come on until you were halfway through it, so I was a single woman wandering through a facility in the dark every time I went there. It felt creepy and unsafe. When got the notice that they were raising my rent by about 20%, I looked for a time in my schedule to try to get out of there. Then my storage unit was broken into. I was not the only victim. From the door to the back corner where my unit is there were only one or two storage spaces that didn't have the temporary locks on them. Despite the fact that there are signs that say every space is alarmed and that there are cameras, in fact that is not true at all. When my space was broken into they said there were no cameras inside. And it is clear they have no alarms, as I asked when the break-in occurred and all they said was some time over the weekend. If there's an alarm, you know when it goes off. It's all just lies to make you feel like your items are secure in storage when in fact there is no security. Luckily the valuable items I had in storage I had removed, they only got a few minor things - I've been in the process of trying to clear the space for months. For me, the worst part of the experience was the horrible service I received from this Public Storage. Andrea left a message on my answering machine saying she needed to talk to me about my storage unit. Nothing about the break-in or to indicate any urgency. I didn't get the message until Tuesday morning, and when I called back I had to leave a message because they aren't open before I have to leave for work. The office hours are 9:30 AM to 6 PM - completely impossible for my work schedule. I left my work phone number, and asked them to call me at work. They didn't. But there was another message on my machine at home. How hard is it to call the number on the message? I called the office myself the next day from work and was told I had to come in and look at my unit to see if anything was missing and file a police report and an insurance claim with my own insurance. They wouldn't and didn't do anything except throw on the smallest, crappiest lock on the door. So I had to take off time from work to go during their ridiculous office hours, to guide the guy to my storage site because he didn't know where it was again, so he could unlock my site and I could see what was missing. At no stage in this process did anyone ever apologize or show anything but annoyance - as if this was somehow my fault. So if you are interested in storing your belongings in a safe place - stay away. If customer service matters to you at all - stay away. Affordability? Convenience? Also no longer factors - as of December 1 they are reducing the hours you can access your storage space to the hours that the office is open. 40% less accessibility - same high price. read more

I love this storage facility. I have had storage for many years and over several different cities. I actually moved my last storage back to this location. The Employees are always helpful and friendly. Parking really is never a problem. It is always very well kewpt up and clean. Including the bathrroms. The phone conversation I had was so horrible that I am canceling with them but funny thing was they wouldn't answer my phone calls after she had hung up on me because I asked for her name which she wouldn't give to me so I'll have to walk in to cancel since I can't even get ahold of them. I have had a unit at this public storage location for almost 2 years now and have had only good experiences. The employees are more then helpful with a cart or offering me any supplies. Now that I no longer need my unit I will be moving out. I never had any thought that my unit wasn't safe. They offered me many options for insurance if I wanted it but I opted out. They have tons of cameras and I felt secure there. Public storage as a whole is a great company with good customer service, convenient, clean units, and reasonable prices for their units! If I ever have a need I will be using this location again. I recommend it to anyone! read more
