It started out as a great storage space with great pricing, but they don't tell you that your storage unit price will increase every year for the exact same space. It is so sad because Victoria at the front desk is so sweet and helpful, but their pricing is a lie and they don't inform you of the price increases at the time you move in. DO NOT COME HERE! I called to check on the pricing I saw on their website and availability for a 5x5 immediately. They assured me they had one available and I was set to go in today to sign up. I asked several times what time they close, I was told 6pm. I knew I'd get there by at least 5:15. Get a call later stating the pricing was wrong online but since I need it so badly I didn't argue the major difference. Strike 1! I run over after work and the place is closed, at 5:10, locked up, dark. No one around. The door says they close at 6. The sign on the windows says they are closed. Strike 2! Really nice facility. The staff isn't always on time in the morning but it's not THAT big of a deal. They have a box truck that you can use if you are a new renter which makes moving in/out extremely easy and cost effective! Don't have much experience in renting anywhere else so price comparison is difficult; I believe the price is competitive with places around. The cleanliness, accessibility, friendly staff, and the storage units in general make it all worth it. read more

Nikki helped me from start to finish of my renting and Moving Out process. She made everything so easy and simple that I decided to move the rest of my stuff from another storage company and incorporated them here to be in one storage space. The facility is well lit And super clean and well ventilated that is free of moisture that most of the time ruin some of my valuable properties when it was at the other storage facility. As you can see from my profile reviews, I really stir away from writing negative comments. My personal policy is that if I don't like a service, I just move on and find something that suits me better and praise a business/service that provides excellent service. So to the corporate office reading this, take these notes to consideration. I'm positive that I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I should start by saying that My Self Storage in Brea is fairly new, and with that, the facility is amazing. Super clean, roomy, bright lights, easy to find your unit, large elevator, temperature controlled etc. That piece, I am happy with. The downfall is the customer service between the call center and the front desk. Let me explain: 1. I have gone to make runs to storage during the middle day. Like any storage facility, you are welcomed to use their onsite carts, however, you have to go to the office to check one out. No problem.. unless the office is closed for employee to go to lunch. I'd say four times has this happened to me where there was no one to help assist in loaning me a cart. I absolutely understand that an employee has to go on lunch. However, why isn't there someone else on-site to relieve that individual? To "save" money on having another staff member there, I imagine, but at the expense of inconveniencing a customer? 2. The business is not a problem solving, solution based organization. The issues I have brought up to the front desk and to the call center have not been resolved. The call center is not helpful at all and are not on the ground. NOTE: If you are calling the Brea location and get the number from Yelp, Google, etc., you are not actually reaching the location rather a call center. I'll I have gotten is a default script response of something in the nature of, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, you can call our corporate office.."Speaking of corporate office... 3. I have left three voicemails voicing my concern and my messages have not yet returned. 4. Upon singing up, I was told that the storage units are accessible until 8pm. I just found out that they changed it to 6:30pm! What an inconvenience! If I'm in the office until 6pm in LA, how am I supposed to get to my storage unit in time before it closes?! ---- I loathe the fact that I am renting here on a monthly basis but because of the exhausting move and my business schedule, I'm having to just put up with the unprofessionalism I've been experiencing. I finally found an excellent storage unit with air conditioning. This place is by far the cleanest of all places and has no weird smells. And the staff is super helpful. The manager Victoria helped me find the perfect unit for me. I am a very picky person and she hung in there with me lol! I've ran into her a couple times and she remembers my name and always asks if I need anything. There's always someone on site cleaning or checking on things. A very safe place. read more

This place is fairly new. Needed a storage unit that was climate controlled and the prices were very competitive. They even have a free truck rental to help move your stuff into the unit you rent (with a $100 refundable deposit). The place is very clean and secure. That's all the good, now for the bad. They've lost some of the keys for hand carts and can't be bothered to make new ones. A quick trip to Home Depot around the corner would solve that. The hours on their website are incorrect. When I signed up, they listed 6:30 am to 8:00 pm. Even their business cards say that. But the person that helped me with the unit I'm renting crossed them off, changing the times to 8:30 am to 6:30. Maybe it was just a misprint. In all honesty, the hours are terrible. If you work a normal 9-5 with a commute, good luck getting to your unit in time if you want to stop by after work. And they charge by the minute if you keep the worker there past 6:30. They have 2 workers working 10 hour days. They could easily stagger their work times to increase the hours open. The hours are a major hindrance and a big reason for the lower score. I have a climate controlled unit, and my unit is right next to the air vent in my building. I have arrived numerous times to the vent not blowing any air, or blowing hot air, on a day where the outside temperature was in the upper 80s or 90s. Seems like they turn off the A/C often enough, and might even turn it off at night to save costs. Maybe that's why the hours were terrible. If you want to rent the truck, you need to have it back before 5:00 pm. If you don't, they eat the deposit you put down. Making it a very expensive truck rental. Again, the hours are terrible! read more

I've been using this place for the past couple years. It's absolutely the best storage unit in town. Super clean, extremely safe and the staff is amazing. Especially Victoria, she has gone above and beyond to make sure my unit is always secure. She actually checks on the tenants to make sure the people are happy. The price is fairly high so based on that I should have no problem accessing my unit during hours. That said there is no enforcement preventing others from parking right in front of my unit. I realze this is not completely under thier control but when I went to say something to the front desk so maybe they could locate the owner the office was locked up for lunch. A locked vehicle was parked in front of my unit with thier window shade in like they had no plans to move anytime soon. I even walked the whole place looking for the owner. Not good and a big waste of my time. I had to leave and come back at a later time. Nice clean place so 3 stars for that and a big fat 2 stars off for my experience. read more

I checked out a few storage places in Brea and Placentia, all were fairly clean but several of their staffers weren't very attentive or nice BUT when I walked into My Self Storage Space in Brea the door hadn't even closed before this voice greeted me and acted like she was glad I was there. Claudia answered every dumb question I had with kindness and humor and she showed me around to help me find the best space for me. She offered guidance, totally explained finances, and what I needed. We stored our 32 foot motor home at this location for about two years until we sold it recently. This facility is fairly new. It is clean and well maintained. Entry is by coded gate. Employees have all been helpful and friendly. Price is about average for outdoor RV storage in OC. Will use this facility again if the need arises. read more

Deceitfulness Dishonesty Duplicity..... And I made a choise to move to this place after doing a lot of comparisons amoung the local self storage businesses. And I chose this place based on it's access and the fact that it was new with good security I needed a 10 x 10 that was accessible on the ground level for my business. I'm an eBayer and swapmeet seller and I do order fulfillment from the storage facility. First I was quoted a price of $119 and I would have access from 6am til 8pm. But then the woman (dont have her name she was African American said she resides in LB) She asked if this was for a bussiness and I told her yes about 80% of it is for my bussiness. She told me that I could have access til midnight if I was intrested in taking a unit way out back for $139. I knew this would be a big convenience for me because Friday night I come back from LA with inventory and sometimes don't get back till late so based on what this woman offered me I decided to move in and i did. It happened to be several weeks before I tried to utilize that late access and when I tried it didn't work the gate wouldn't let me in so the next morning I went to the office to find out why and received some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. A very heavy set Hispanic young lady spoke to me as though I were an idiot. I explain to her what the woman told me when I signed up and she called me a liar. I could not believe what I was hearing and left before a confrontation erupted. I called the corporate office on several occasions and never get a return phone call. Since then this woman who I guess it's the manager has taken to harassing me coming out to my unit and telling me that I couldn't be there that I need to leave the facility. It has pushed me to a point where I've decided to contact an attorney for a consult. I can't speak on that too much but I will update this review Once the dust has settled This is the truth behind this big new facility. Deceitfulness Dishonesty Duplicity..... And Short access hours compared to others No access on holidays Understaffed with under qualified personnel who are condescending and offencive No live on site manager A lockout grace period half of the industry standard An uncaring and unresponsive corporate office. I was going to rent a truck or borrow one, until the manager told me that they offer a FREE Move In Truck to use just so that I can move in. Bring a measuring tape.. great place to store stuff, quality climate control, clean, good access. Just relocated my unit and realized the 10'x5' space was actually 10'x4'. I just think they should be more honest in the amount of space you are paying to rent. Feel kind of like I was overcharged for the lack of space for the year+ I was there. No worries, still I like the place, just be sure to bring a measuring tape to ensure you are getting the amount of space you are paying for. read more

Been a member for 6 months, the place is pretty clean but customer service isn't the best. The girls at the register are not the friendliest. You should call ahead of time because if you just show up, there might not be people in the office & you might have to wait a while(10-15min). Also people park how ever they want inside of the storage facility (block lanes) & make access to where you need to go difficult. read more

The customer service is always first rate! Pricing and cleanliness is better that I could have hoped for. We started off in a 5x5 unit and am now upgrading to a 5x10 and couldn't be happier to stay with them. Only issue I have ever had is with the hours: some days it has been too hard to get there before closing, so I wish it was 24 hours though that is a very small problem for what is an otherwise perfect storage solution. read more

This is definitely the best storage place I have ever used. I'm moving to brea, ca so I did my research & they had the best deal. When I booked the unit I noticed the mention of using their truck. So when I spoke with Claudia she mentioned it also. This saved me $150 because I was going to rent a Uhaul truck. They require a $100 deposit to use the truck & they give it back after you finish your move. It literally only cost me the cost of gas to move all of my belongings. Which was on $6. Believe it or not!!! I am telling everyone about this great place. The facility is only 2 years old & well maintained. Look no further, this is the place to use for your storage needs. After a painfully bad experience with another storage company (P.S.), and in a real bind to find a reasonably priced larger climate-controlled unit I'm so happy to have found My Self Storage. From the helpful customer service representative, Jason, to the initial phone contact with Claudia at the Brea location, and our on site tour and registration with Jennifer, I had an absolutely positive experience. This facility is CLEAN, well-lit, and provides an exceptional level of security. Jennifer took the time to show us multiple units so that we could pick the best size and location. We were informed up front (even from the initial phone conversations) of all the associated costs-move in $20, lock $11 and insurance coverage. Unlike other companies, My Self Storage does not bait and switch or add on hidden extras to increase the rate. The price of a larger climate controlled unit was almost 50% lower than what the other company had quoted me. They also offer the one-time use of a moving truck at no extra charge. Add in the great special they have on now--two months at half off--and there is no reason to go anywhere else! I highly recommend this company, and specifically this location, for anyone who is in need of a storage facility. read more
