I had to give a star, but I'd rather give negative stars! On 11/20/13 I reserved a unit online and went to check in to the unit. Tommie (the onsite manager) assisted me. I was trying to reserve the unit for the doctor I work for and even though I had ALL of the criteria, I was missing the doctor's body. So we went round and round, but I understood his policy and just checked the storage unit under my name. Not the end of the world. However, I explained to him my situation and let him know I wasn't exactly sure on the size of the unit and the shipping company would be delivering in a couple of hours. He said, no problem, we can transfer. (What he FAILED to mention was, if I went through with all of the paperwork, that I would no longer get the discount, if I did need to transfer) Shipping company arrives and the needed a unit with a roll up door. So I walk to the front and let Tommie know I would need to change units. He gets the paperwork going, lets me know the new rate, then says "Since you are doing a transfer, you NO LONGER get the discount or the $1 first month's rent." I seriously thought he was joking. I even said, "you're kidding. right?" he said, "no". I tried reasoning with him and I asked was there someone else that could help or make a decision? He said, "no, but you can call my district manager, but she probably won't do anything either. It's the policy and she'll back me on it." I honestly couldn't believe it. So today I get a call back from the district manager, Lindsey. She basically said the same thing. She said, "it's the policy and there's nothing anyone can do." I also asked why he didn't just tell me that when signing the contract that I wouldn't get the deal, knowing there is a good possibility that I would need to change. I explained that good customer service would have been for him to mention that maybe I should wait so I could see the unit when the delivery arrives. Her response was nothing less than unprofessional...her answer, "well that's your decision to rent it at that time and we just try and give the customer what she wants. It's the policy and there is nothing we can do." I said, so you have a title of District Manager and you have no authorization to make any decisions? She then told me she did not like the way I was talking to her and I explained I didn't like her tone either as it was a condescending tone like no matter what I try, no one is going to fix it. I asked was there someone else I can talk to, she said you can call my manager, but she's probably not going to fix anything either. I asked is there someone in corporate? she said not really, not anyone that can make changes....What? So now I have Dyan's number, I left her a message and we'll see what happens. I'm not asking for compensation for anything, I just want to be able to get the discount I had when I rented the unit two hours before my shipment arrived. That consisted of one month's rent @ $1 and my monthly discount off of $169 per month. If this get fixed I will fix the rating and comment the results. read more

Public Storage, as a place to put your things for a while, doesn't really excel. Their prices are pretty standard, the units aren't glistening, and there's one in every neighborhood. Believe me, I've frequented a few around town. At this point, nothing terrible, but nothing great. However, THIS Public Storage is different for one particular reason. The customer service...holy crap. I don't know if I've ever HAD customer service before going there today. I don't write reviews, but I feel compelled to let you know that I will never store my cat-hair-covered couch anywhere else. Tracey, the associate that helped us, was phenomenal. Think of a Irish Linda Belcher. Bubbly personality, very informative, and was a complete sweetheart to not only me, but the three interactions she had with other customers while I was there. I was never so happy to give my money to someone...I almost wanted to give her more, just because. Shoot, I almost wanted to invite her to a Sunday BBQ. Simply. Great. If that old aquarium needs to be moved out of the garage to make room for your teenage son so he put a spoiler and new muffler on an '96 Honda Civic, take that glass box full of rocks to Tracey. You will not be disappointed. Don't mention possums, though...she hates the things. read more

The crew here makes all the difference from other places I've rented! They're always helpful and go out of their way to make sure I'm doing OK when I'm visiting my units there, which is usually several times a week. The location is actually very convenient for me since most of my work is in Northwest Hills and the Arboretum area. I can swing by to drop materials off or pick up a tool and be only minutes from Home Depot or Lowe's. Storage rates in Austin are higher than other cities because our economy is booming. But the location and service make it a bargain. Tommy, Robin, Sean and Tracy know their business and how to make the rental process as painless as possible. read more

Tommie at Public Storage on Research Boulevard is the best! I recently reserved a storage space at this facility online for use during a work trip. Not even five minutes after receiving the automated confirmation e-mail, I got a personal phone call from Tommie. He was so polite and accommodating, wanting to make sure everything looked correct with my reservation and move-in time/date. Needless to say, I was impressed right away. Upon arriving at the facility, we were greeted by warm smiles, and Tommie was clear and professional about addressing all protocol. With it's easy access, and superb customer service, I would recommend Public Storage to anyone. read more

Great customer service, exceptional communication skills, trained professionals, easy units to use and understand, good sales which they also sold me on the damp check product (which is a moisture absorber), asked if I needed any extra boxes, tape, etc, Provided insurance for my items, move in storage specials, good monthly rates, and over all the definition of exceptional customer care. Worst Company on the face of the earth. Crappy Management. Full of it with regards to being out of your storage by 9p. These people are ridiculous. Don't rent here, try AAA Storage. Let me tell you, this dumb business will tell you that they have told you that you have to be out of your storage by 9P, however, they are full of it; we got caught off guard last night when we lost access; and NO ONE, and I mean no one cared to assist us when we had over 90 furniture items all over the place that never made it to the second floor. We were force to leave the furniture laid out all over the place. You have been warned! read more

I just emptied my storage and moved out of town this week. I wish I could still do business with this location as Tommie was awesome and the best to work with. I wish they could clone him by the hundreds. The world can use more Tommies. Solid communication. Professional nature. Always pleasant to deal with. When I accidentally forgot to latch my lock on my storage unit the team was prompt in notifying me by phone and put a lock on it until I could come back. I went in on 04/30 and was helped by Robin. It was very easy and quick. I was done with the lease, and moving my stuff in less then ten minutes. The storage unit was also a lot bigger then I thought. I could have gotten a much smaller unit and been fine, so double check the size before you sign up. read more
