Great spot to eat in Chatham! I ordered the aloo dum for takeout--generous portion and really tasty. A bit on the pricey side, but the quality of the food made it worth it.

Chicken Tikka Masala

We stumbled upon this place while strolling down Main Street in Chatham. I was happy to see the positive reviews so we decided to stop in. The place is small with about 4 tables inside and a few outside but the take out business is extremely strong. We decided to eat in. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and my husband chose a Cubano panini. Before cashing out a humongous chocolate chip cookie was calling our name. The chicken tikka masala was a good size serving which equated to two meals for me. The cubano was also good size and quite tasty. The thick chocolate chip cookie was moist and satisfied us both. The staff is very cordial . The only downside is no public rest rooms. Otherwise it was a great stop.

What a well kept secret! This little gem was our go to for the week we stayed in Chatham. Must try is the Everest Momo. Grabbed an order to take to an Anglers game and had to fight people off. Had the Cubano, so good!!! The sir fry was great. My wife loved their Ice Caps. Can't wait to go back next year.

Italian chicken

Enjoyed the momos. The kids liked their Italian sandwich. The momos had the perfect amount of spice.

Momo and Mediterranean panini

We were craving some healthy lunch options when on vacation and we loveeeeeed lunch at Public cafe. It was the meal we talked about as our fav when in Cape Cod, which was surprising! The veg momo was sooooooo delicious. Well seasoned and fresh ingredients. The curry rice was also delicious though I will say I expected a fried rice adjacent meal and it was more a veg curry with a side of white rice. This portion was enormous! The Mediterranean panini was also much yum with great combo of flavors. We really loved our whole meal and would be regulars here if we lived near by. Food took about 15 mins to be cooked to order and staff was friendly. Casual, humble vibes inside but welcoming. There were 2 outdoor table options and 4 indoor. Run to Public Cafe!

Cute little seating area, lots of photos of the Himalayas as the owner is Nepalese.

I still love this place!!! Went there this morning (9/30/24) to bring a friend who had never been. I recommended the curry burrito and the blueberry scone as always, my 2 fav's. And they surprised us with a lil' soup too. How kind!!! A reminder if you haven't seen my other reviews, come here for very affordable and amazing poke, bowls, pastries and dumplings. Wonderful staff and a casual setting.

Delicious food in a quaint beach town. I was passing through Chatham on an early Sunday morning looking for a matcha latte and Public Cafe popped up on my search. I knew I had to go. The idea of being able to eat yummy poke at 10am with an iced matcha latte made me so happy. It got extremely crowded in the cozy space but the staff worked quickly to get everyone served in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend.

This place is INCREDIBLE! The best lunch we had in Chatham on our trip. My fiancé and I split the turkey pesto sandwich and the Everest momo, and he got a cup of chicken soup to try. Everything was extremely fresh, so flavorful, and of such high quality. I only wish we lived closer to Public Cafe so we could go everyday! Do not skip this place!

Momo dumplings with a hand-twist to seal each bite

I did not expect to find Nepalese flavors in Cape Cod, but this was a nice surprise. Delicious momo dumplings - juicy, well seasoned filling without oiliness, and there was pleasant chew to the dough. The tomato sauce added a complimentary touch of acidity without too much spice. The space is cozy with a few indoor tables, there is a bit of outdoor seating outside.

The Kung po chicken was good, but different than more "traditional" Kung po. More of an Americanized version with a sweeter sauce and with way too much celery. Needs more peanuts too. Still satisfying, but different than other versions. General Tso's was a miss. Heavy breading and not crispy with a too sweet of a sauce that was just not enjoyable. Was chicken even in all of the pieces? Other dishes we've tried are good. You will be able to find dishes you like. TIP: Get extra rice, as small rice portions, for the very generous order sizes, is not sufficient.

Barely edible. If it was any worse I would have thrown it away. I got Garlic Chicken, Egg Roll and…read morePork Fried Rice. This was in the form of a dinner combination plate: choose one entree from the list, one appetizer, and either fried or white rice. The fact that they offer the combination plate in the evening is the only positive thing I can say about the place. Most Chinese restaurants only have combination plates during the lunch hours if at all. The egg roll was greasy inside and there wasn't much more than cabbage in it. Crunchy wrapper but bland and boring overall. The fried rice was also greasy, the rice was hard, and it had hardly any vegetables and almost no pork. The garlic chicken had no garlic taste whatsoever - or any other seasoning other than soy sauce for that matter - and the vegetables were soggy and overcooked. 0 for 3. My expectations were low and they were not exceeded. Avoid this place.

But upon coming up the stairs I saw a welcoming dining room...and we had a great dinner. Pleasantly surprised by how good everything was... the service, the food, and the pricing. --vegan kimchi, oh so good, spicy but not killer --chicken skewer app, super tasty, I wonder what the spice is that gives this a great flavor? --scallion pancakes, these are a bit different from the Chinese version, and really, really good, crispy exterior and soft interior (tho they're a bit oily) --bulgogi, another good choice, the gochujang dipping sauce is a must, but wish they gave more than four lettuce leaves to wrap, the platter is huge Next time in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to returning.

I ordered a beverage, took two sips, and immediately told the waitress that something was wrong with it. It honestly tasted as though someone had poured perfume into the drink instead of alcohol. I explained that I could not drink it and asked for something else instead. I did not finish the drink and then complain about it. I took two sips, immediately brought the problem to her attention, and returned it. When the check arrived, I noticed that I had been charged for both the undrinkable drink I returned and its replacement. When I politely pointed out that the first drink had not been removed, the reaction was astonishing. Neither person said anything. They simply stared at each other with blank looks and then somberly walked back to the register, as though I had done something wrong by asking them to correct the bill. I should not have had to defend why I should not be charged for a drink that I immediately returned because there was clearly something wrong with it. If the waitress failed to tell the bartender that the drink had been returned and replaced, that was not my responsibility. They eventually brought me a corrected bill. Despite the uncomfortable way the situation was handled, I still calculated my tip on the original total before the drink was removed because I was trying to be gracious. In retrospect, I wish I had not. A simple, "I'm sorry about that, let me fix it," would have ended the matter immediately. Instead, their demeanor made me feel as though I was being difficult or dishonest for raising a completely legitimate issue. The food was very good, but the rudeness at the end of the meal overshadowed what otherwise would have been a very positive experience. No customer should be made to feel that they have to defend themselves for returning an undrinkable drink after two sips.
