We had a long day and the family wanted to do a family style dinner with Asian food and this one was chosen. We came in for an order to serve 12 people. This was to be a take out order. We went in side the restaurant and it was nice and clean. Popular with the local people. We had ordered taken from members but one dish they don't make here which we thought strange because All chinese food restaurants make Egg Foo Young. Well this one does not? Really? We should have known that this was a tell of how this was going to be. This place has very friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. I was unsure if they were open except for a couple small signs being lit. It is otherwise very dark when you roll up into the parking lot. I was impressed by the range of food you could find here, and the food I had was tasty. Five small wings cut in half without the wingtip. So $3.70 fir one small overcooked chicken wing. None of the two sauces included were any good either. We've still got most of it left, and for the first time in my life I plan on returning it. Their website claims the food the sell is close to what they eat at home. A very unassuming building just before you get to town but don't let that fool you. We started off our meals with lychee martinis that were excellent. They were! And thoroughly enjoyed. Then we had egg rolls which were crispy full of cabbage and a bit of beef. Tom loves a spicy meal so he ordered oyster sauce with pork and vegetables spicy and he was very pleased. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the dish was nicely spicy. I was happy to order eggplant with tofu requesting not spicy at all with garlic sauce and brown rice on the side. I had plenty to take home for a light lunch and he devoured his. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. A great meal will be had with a very diverse menu. Many choices. I've been to Sweet Rice quite a few times and have always enjoyed the food and service, but they blew me away yesterday with their Thai Green Curry Soup! It's just an absolute explosion of rich yet bright flavor. Really hard to not eat to the point of feeling over-full. So, that will be a new go-to order! Other than that, my favorites are the Thai Chicken Salad, Nime Chow rolls, and their special sushi rolls (can't remember which ones specifically - they've all been good). If you dine in, the servers are always super friendly and prompt. For drinks, try the Lychee martini. Tried Sweet Rice for the first time. Very impressed with the luncheon specials. I had the delicious Lemon Grass Pork. Tons of fresh veggies and pork in a light coconut cream curry sauce. It came with freshly cooked vegetable fried rice and 1 chicken wing (1 drum, 1 flat). $10. The decor was simple but comfortable. Lighting good. Clean. The service was attentive and friendly. What a disappointment! This place is so handy. I gave it two stars because the ingredients seemed good quality. The beef was not tough. The Shrimp was good sized. Wings good sized with a good lemon grass sauce, but that dish is too messy for an app. The pad Thai was large, bland, dry and had one very tiny piece of lime. Mongolian beef was nice beef with lots of snow peas, but still tasteless and dry. Maybe they don't use enough sauce because their containers are not tight. There is a hinge section which doesn't seal. My husband wants to try it again. I think because it's so close. I don't feel that way now. Physically not much changed. read more
