If you know me, you know ! This is an amazing Japanese cuisine location on Cape Cod. The taste and presentation are phenomenal. It's definitely worth visiting; I'll be coming back plenty of times for the chef's food.

We chose Fin for a birthday dinner, and it absolutely did not disappoint! The evening started with…read moreoutstanding cocktails--the Perfect Pear Martini was ice-cold, refreshing, and delicious, while the Manhattan was expertly crafted and perfectly balanced. For an appetizer, we shared the sweet potato tempura stuffed with scallop and crab. It was light, flavorful, and beautifully prepared--an excellent start to the meal. For our entrées, the swordfish was wonderfully fresh and packed with flavor. While the accompanying potatoes were a bit dry and under-seasoned, the fish itself was outstanding. The seared tuna was cooked to perfection, with a beautiful crust and tender center, and the noodles complemented it perfectly. Fin has the charm of a historic home, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bar is cozy and welcoming, though on the smaller side, so arriving early is a good idea. We were seated upstairs at a corner table, which provided plenty of privacy and made for a wonderfully romantic dining experience in a quaint and intimate setting. Our waitress seemed a little reserved at first but quickly warmed up and became attentive and engaging throughout the evening. Dinner for two, including tip, came in just under $200, putting it on the higher end of the price range, but the quality of the food, cocktails, and atmosphere made it well worth it. We will be back to try the oyster stew.

Started with the sweet potato tempura stuffed with scallops and swordfish with spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was very tasty! She had the striped bass with jasmine rice, edamame, seaweed salad and mushrooms sautéed in butter which was wonderful. I had the whole black bass special, deep fried whole fish with gumbo to spoon over the top after deboning the fish. Served with coconut rice and tomato/cucumber salad. See photo. Really delicious. A couple of glasses of French (Burgundy) Chardonnay and we were very happy. Service was spot on.

But upon coming up the stairs I saw a welcoming dining room...and we had a great dinner. Pleasantly surprised by how good everything was... the service, the food, and the pricing. --vegan kimchi, oh so good, spicy but not killer --chicken skewer app, super tasty, I wonder what the spice is that gives this a great flavor? --scallion pancakes, these are a bit different from the Chinese version, and really, really good, crispy exterior and soft interior (tho they're a bit oily) --bulgogi, another good choice, the gochujang dipping sauce is a must, but wish they gave more than four lettuce leaves to wrap, the platter is huge Next time in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to returning.

Unfortunately, the way…read morea problem with my drink and the bill was handled at the end left a very bad impression. I ordered a beverage, took two sips, and immediately told the waitress that something was wrong with it. It honestly tasted as though someone had poured perfume into the drink instead of alcohol. I explained that I could not drink it and asked for something else instead. I did not finish the drink and then complain about it. I took two sips, immediately brought the problem to her attention, and returned it. When the check arrived, I noticed that I had been charged for both the undrinkable drink I returned and its replacement. When I politely pointed out that the first drink had not been removed, the reaction was astonishing. Neither person said anything. They simply stared at each other with blank looks and then somberly walked back to the register, as though I had done something wrong by asking them to correct the bill. I should not have had to defend why I should not be charged for a drink that I immediately returned because there was clearly something wrong with it. If the waitress failed to tell the bartender that the drink had been returned and replaced, that was not my responsibility. They eventually brought me a corrected bill. Despite the uncomfortable way the situation was handled, I still calculated my tip on the original total before the drink was removed because I was trying to be gracious. In retrospect, I wish I had not. A simple, "I'm sorry about that, let me fix it," would have ended the matter immediately. Instead, their demeanor made me feel as though I was being difficult or dishonest for raising a completely legitimate issue. The food was very good, but the rudeness at the end of the meal overshadowed what otherwise would have been a very positive experience. No customer should be made to feel that they have to defend themselves for returning an undrinkable drink after two sips.
