Fish and chips with barely any fish. WTF?!
MBDBD S.

Where's the fish? The pathetic and super small portion of fish in the fish and chips is appalling! They charge $24 for this BS!!! An order of 6 McDonalds nuggets would have been way more filling than this. I mentioned the laughable portion to the server and she agreed with me....but did not offer to ask the chef for more or discount the bill. Don't waste your money here even if you're staying at the hotel and starving. You can get more food in the small minimart they have behind the check in desk.

Alaskan chowder

I usually don't eat at my hotels but it was so cold I decided to give it a try. I was greeted quick and by a kind nice lady. I sat in Cindy's section let me tell you this woman oozes hospitality. She is kind caring and super attentive didn't have to ask for one thing she went above and beyond! she is a real winner for this place. The food was short of amazing the chowder had lots of seafood thick creamy sauce and no need for anything added. The sandwich was sooo huge I had to cut it in half had such great flavor the chicken is juicy and full of flavor with a nice crunch on the bread yet soft in the middle and lightly toasted. If you are in the area or staying here be sure to drop in for a bite and leave happy guaranteed!

Lucy recommended this amazing White King Salmon and it was amazing! It paired great with hollandaise sauce!

The Mixed Game Burger was great, and so was our server Lucy. Good spot to stop in the Sheraton

Really enjoyed my dinner at 49th State Brewing! I opted for the stew, which I surprisingly could…read morefind little pictures of via Yelp or online. It was slow cooked in a cider with carrots & a large dollop of garlic smashed potatoes. I got the side order of bread with it, which went perfectly! It was divine! Not gamey for those who may be more sensitive to that flavor. It was the perfect hearty meal for a cold day. I'm not a beer drinker, so instead I opted for the birch beer soda! It was delicious & I loved that I was able to opt for a local drink and flavors. Highly recommend!

I didn't get a chance to compare but I enjoyed my meal at 49th state and the service was excellent. - root beer - 5/5, so fun to try their locally brewed root beer, love a good root beer! - seafood chowder - 5/5, super delicious, with generous chunks of salmon, halibut, clams, potatoes, creamy with dill - yum! One of the best chowders I've had anywhere - parmesan asiago crusted halibut - 4/5, highly recommended by our server as her favorite item even though she doesn't like seafood. It was a solid offering, and could have been better if the garlic mashed potatoes were more tasty (the Alaska Lounge horseradish mashed potatoes would have been a better accompaniment) and seasonal vegetables which in this case were carrots and parsnips neither of which are my favorite (and in my book it's not a vegetable if it's not green) - sourdough bread pudding with vanilla ice cream - 4/5, I love a good bread pudding. This one was good, not great. It was an enormous portion and sitting in a pool of butter? something else? and not so delicious that I felt like I needed to have more than a few bites. I was glad I went for the fun atmosphere and would return just for the seafood chowder.

The calamari was easily the best that I've ever had in my life. The chowder was absolutely fantastic. I also tried their beer flight, I don't know if I've ever mentioned beer in any of my reviews, cause I typically don't drink it. I was absolutely shocked to discover that the stout was one of my favorites, with that dark chocolate finish. All of the beers were really good, just a bit filling. Today I sampled the French dip and a slice of pizza, and both of those were absolutely fantastic. Had the calamari again, and everyone agreed that it was pretty much the best ever. Service last night was very good, our server took care to explain the food and drink options as well as answering any questions. He was very attentive and friendly. I went with a large group for lunch today and our server was excellent, she nailed every order and was friendly and quite attentive. Large groups can be a hassle, but she handled it excellently. The atmosphere last night was quite busy as you would imagine on a Friday night. That's why the good service and great food is extra impressive. We had a private room for our group lunch today, and it was quite nice as well. I would absolutely come back here again, and list them as a must visit for anyone visiting Anchorage. So far the food scene in Anchorage just doesn't seem to miss. Kudos to the management and staff for running an excellent restaurant operation and delivering both quality customer service and superior food product.
