Always great food and great service. For apps we always get a couple oysters and French onion soup. The halibut cheeks are my favorite.

Well worth the price and special trip from anywhere. I had the Beets Salad as a starter. It had a perfect combination of every ingredient. Soft flavorful goat cheese, crisp greens, two types of tender beets (yellow and the standard dark red (purple) variety.) The dressing was a wonderful balsamic and orange reduction. I was so impressed I practiced in my own kitchen to perfect it and serve to guests. As for the main course I chanced the special of the night. It was tiny white shrimp from pristine waters of South America. It was a Mexican cuisine presentation. Spicy and bursting with different flavors. Best eaten when you tried to get the most variety on one forkful. Very cleaver. I am a self admitted foodie. I sincerely appreciated the Chef's thought process in bringing together the perfect combination of flavor, texture, healthy ingredients, cost to customer, portion control and of course staying power so the hungry monster does not return before morning. This is perhaps the third time I have ever eaten here as I am married to a steak and potatoes man. He really does not care to eat away from his own chair in front of the TV. (He really has many romantic redeeming qualities) but enjoying an evening out slowly working one's way through a Professionals work in the kitchen is not one of them. If he cannot drive the cleaver masters work he has no appreciation of the endeavors. I understand as arriving by Uber or Lyft is fine with me. Anyway Kinley's has again entertained me and calmed me down after a busy day. The only negative and it is a major one, the bartender encouraged a middle aged professional woman to completely dominate the room with her loud and plain offensive opinions. She was only drinking wine but he was entraining her an another while ignoring drink orders. Consequently another professional woman dining with a friend kept raising her voice to be heard above the painful noise at the bar. There were 2 single gentlemen dining alone on both sides of me. Both got disgusted with this action, commented to me how I can tolerate it, got doggie bags, refused after dinner drinks and left. I was about to do the same and but both offensive individuals started to make overtures to leave so I finished my wine before leaving with my doggie bag. Maybe if all three of us had made comments it could have been curtailed but we did not. Over all Kinley's was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. read more

Halibut is so common in Alaska this time of year that you will see it on most restaurants' menu next to the readily available salmon. If you love halibut as much as I do, you need to take it a step further and try halibut cheeks. Four tender halibut cheeks lightly dusted and pan seared served over a generous bed of pancetta pea risotto for just $36. For the same price we also opted for the almond crusted halibut filet with a cherry and apple cider beurre blanc. Staff were friendly any attentive but they ran out of the beer I wanted on menu. Food was decent and decent portions and the ambience was good. It just didn't score as well as other places in Anchorage and while I enjoyed the meal I've had better. read more

We recently went back to Kinley's for a family dinner out the other week, and while it was still quite good, I didn't love my main as much as I've loved other dishes there. For appetizers, we had the bacon wrapped dates and the French onion soup, both of which were delicious. The French onion soup had nice big chunks of bread in it to balance the onions, which was a nice mix of textures. For a main, I had the special of the night, which was Patagonian shrimp over a chorizo polenta bed with a mixed veggie - while the shrimp and polenta were good, the squash didn't seem to mesh well with the dish and it overall just felt a bit like a hodge podge. The chocolate cake for dessert was lovely - not too sweet and the raspberry coulis was perfect. I still love Kinley's and coming here, but I think that their seafood dishes reign supreme on the menu still. read more

I'm always looking for a place that makes a good fish and chips, and I do believe that I've found my absolute favorite. I just want to know how someone can make a batter on halibut that literally melts in your mouth?! And, the chips were so darned crispy and flavorful. We also ordered their fried brie appetizer, which knocked it out of the park. The balsamic vinegar on the toast points were such a nice touch and the flavor from the figs added a really nice touch of sweetness with the salty brie. This is my go-to for fish and chips from now on! And, I can't write a review without mentioning how awesome the staff are as well. Plus, the ambiance was low-noise level, which is always nice. Our server was extremely helpful and the food arrived quickly. Halibut was perfectly prepared, excellent ingredients and preparation.

Met some friends on a Thursday night. New items on the menu including three burgers but they no longer do their burger and beer special. They also had a blt and a salmon blt which were new. The drink prices are reasonable, 10-15$ not $18-20 like some restaurants. We got the crab cakes which were delicious(you get three big ones) and I got the bacon Swiss burger but no Swiss and cheddar instead. It was very good, they used ground up steak so it was very juicy and tender. Very messy. Fries are the battered ones which I like. Came with a pickle spear. We also got the flourless chocolate cake which is delicious. Service was nice, the guy wasn't very professional but he was matching our vibe which was nice lol. Helped us pick items to order. Kind of a small menu but you are sure to find something, especially with the bar menu in addition to the regular menu. read more

The Food was Great. Full of flavor. The waitstaff was Great. They were very friendly and attentive. The floor is not crowded with tables. Portions are of a good size (more than enough). The seafood was good quality. We had the oysters and crab cake appetizers. The oysters were small. Definately not a sweeter Gig Harbor oyster. We had the halibut cheek and Filet Mignon main courses. We had a low-key dinner here. Let me start off by saying that our server was excellent. Attentive but not hovering. Chatty but not overly so. Nice ambiance, very low lit. There is a daily special. We started with the French onion soup and mixed olives. Honestly, we could have stopped there. We split both orders, and I was already starting to feel comfortable before our entrees came. The olives were good with big pieces of garlic in them and some thinly sliced red onion. The French onion soup was a nice portion, even to share. It was very cheesy and delicious. I opted for the coconut crusted rockfish. I really enjoyed the green curry lemongrass sauce, and the fish was very light. While I didn't eat the tenderloin burger, it looked amazing. I ordered the halibut fish and chips along with the beet salad. The salad was ok but the issues I had was there was very little dressing, and just had the mixed greens. The fries were cooked perfectly, however, the fish was soggy in some areas, like it was stuck together while cooking......not very pleasant. I do recommend making reservations. When we arrived they had a sign saying the restaurant was full unless you had a reservation. Food - Presentation is certainly a forte. Every dish looked amazing when it came out (and yes, I scoped out the fare on other tables as well). I was happy with the portion sizes. Six large scallops, plenty of olives to the point of overflowing. On the note of the olives, do keep in mind they have the pits. I love olives, but I hate eating olives with the pits at a restaurant. Even if they have the fancy olive fork (I wasn't given one here), it's work to eat olives with the pits. Service - I am a big fan of curry. I cook with curry and I try it most chances I get. When I asked the server whether it was spicy, medium, or mild she said it was on the mild side, but let me get you a sample. I was very pleased that she was in no hurry with our table. She brought the sample and gave me time to try it. She didn't stand over us waiting for me to make a choice. Cleanliness - The restaurant appeared very clean. All the tables were wiped down and the floor was spotless. The window sill next to the booth where I sat was free of dust, particles, etc. And while looking out the windows at the Seward Hwy wasn't my favorite, the windows were streak free. Ambiance - This is hard to describe. The restaurant was sort of sparse or minimalistic. There was cozy fire in a corner where there was not couch, chair or way to enjoy it. There is a bar located directly by the entrance in a weird, transient sort of area. There are some paintings and lots of open space. Windows stretching an entire side of the restaurant provide ample natural light. I think I was missing a plant. Maybe a fish tank? Notables - The cozy fire in the corner. Solid libation list. Upscale food with midscale prices. Seriously the food is so out of this world and complex - they could be charging so much more and they aren't which gets some serious respect. The dishes are inspired and complicated without being over bearing, cluttered, or unnecessary. We've loved everything we've gotten: the calamari steaks, crab cakes, halibut cheeks & salmon! The crab cakes twist on a rémoulade was Asian inspired and seriously tasty! And the risotto that comes with the cheeks is something I will dream about for the rest of forever that stuff is like crack! Do yourself a favor and go check this place out!!! read more

More known for their seafood and changing menus we've eaten here twice this summer. I've read alot of reviews about their burgers which is on their bar menu and they are the best. French fries are like the double dipped type, crispy and crunchy. The burgers are moist, tasty, and absolutely delicious!!! I would have given them 5 stars but I felt the ambiance (it's very loud in there) & the service were a bit sub par. We had advised via the website that it was our anniversary and we were initially seated at a table that was not apropos for the occasion. We mentioned to the server the occasion and we were then moved to a much nicer booth by a window. The entrees were both delicious! The appetizer (oysters) good, the ceasar salad meh. Love this place. Midtown, close to the house, good parking (even though Moose's Tooth is crammed next door), great choices for kids and adults alike. Have had the tenderloin burger many times and always a favorite, calamari with a tomato cream sauce with garlic toast points is solid, filet with bordelaise sauce/bacon & blue cheese crumbles is to die for, the pork chop is HUGE & juicy, side Caesar is perfect, plus A KIDS MENU! I was brought here on a date and the service was good. Employees were polite and attentive. I ordered the coconut crusted rockfish. It sounded great on the menu but I learned that day that I prefer salmon or halibut personally. The only reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is that my date reserved a table for us and it ended up being a table close to the entrance, which felt more like a thoroughfare than a private corner. Kinley's has been around for awhile and survived the pandemic. I can see why - they are a solid date-night choice and offer a nice environment. There is a bar and table with nice views of the Chugach Mountains. The staff was eager to please but not nosy or hawkish. Our food was served quickly and we had a nice beer after sampling a couple of the draft options. The Stroganoff was not cheap, nor was it outrageous - and it was worthwhile. My wife and I split an order of that with lobster ravioli. Both were perfectly prepared and a great choice on a cold spring evening. First time eating here after talking about it for years. Great service, fast and tasty cocktails - we had the dates and they were incredibly tasty and unique. For entrees we shared a caprese salad - so good! With chunks of roasted garlic on the side!! Finally we had the fried avocado dinner which was truly mind blowing. They have several very special brunches throughout the year and we have gone there for Mother's Day twice . I'm the mom and I am always delighted . I also enjoy stopping in for happy hour which is 4-6 Tuesday thru Fri . The happy hours time varies so check the schedule . The dressing on a salad was so bad, we didn't eat it. I just can say: if you are a tourist, you are clearly not welcomed in this restaurant. I guess locals can enjoy it. The service, food, and ambiance are just outstanding!! I came in with the filet in mind, but when Tyler, my server, described the scallop special, I was sold! The scallops were super delicious!! They were perfectly seared and served udon style with onion, peppers, edamame beans, and mushroom. The udon style noodles were amazing too. Ok this restaurant pretty much flies under the radar. Kinley's does not get the recognition it deserves when it comes to Anchorage dining. I am here to tell you this place is good, and should not be overlooked! Pass over Moose's Tooth one night to give Kinley's a chance! We have dined here 4 times since moving to Anchorage so I could get a full spectrum of their rotating menu. First, it's a fairly casual setting. It's very modern and trendy looking. Lots of wood and marble. It is a very inviting space. Service is always friendly and attentive. They make sure to always check on your table, and fill your water/bread basket. They have a full bar with a decent selection of craft beer on draft, and in bottle. They also have a well rounded wine list, and selection of cocktails. Their menu items so rotate quite frequently so there are different options when you dine on different occasions. The food is creative, and there seems to be something for everyone. If you just want a burger, you can have a burger, but you can also have elegantly prepared seafood. It is eclectic dining, but presented in a way that I think even someone who is not very adventurous with their food can enjoy. The food is really delicious, and everything is prepared well. I have enjoyed every dish that we have tried here from the appetizers to the dessert. Everything is flavorful, and unique. For appetizers I always enjoy the calamari steak, Calamari Steak served pan seared with a tomato & herb beurre blanc. The calamari is lightly breaded, and cooked perfectly so it is not overly rubbery, and the sauce that it is served with is just divine. This will ruin your normal garden variety fried calamari forever. The fried brie is also another delicious option. They serve a nice size portion with a variety of accompaniments. The lobster ravioli is also delicious, but it is an uber tiny portion so buyer beware. When it comes to entrees I always like to see how the local fish is being prepared and served. There is typically at least 1 dinner special to add to your options for the evening. Typically a locally sourced fish preparation. One of my favorite entrees that has been consistently on the menu is the halibut cheeks. Cheeks are such a delicate part of the halibut, and arguably some of the best meat. The chef prepares them perfectly by lightly breading and pan searing the cheeks. They are then served with a decadent pancetta and pea risotto as well as a balsamic reduction. It is a delicious dish with a lot of great flavor, and also a very hearty portion of food. The fried chicken and waffle that was recently rolled out as a part of their fall menu has been another favorite of mine. I really enjoyed the non traditional take on this southern classic. The cheddar waffle is very tasty, and served with a heaping portion of chicken. The chicken is a boneless breast served as large tenders, which makes eating this dish much easier than when the chicken is bone in. The chicken is lightly breaded and fried perfectly so that it is flavorful and juicy. It is not greasy at all. The root beer bbq sauce that it is covered in is to die for. Rounded out with kale and sweet potato crisps to make you feel semi healthy. I really enjoyed this preparation of chicken & waffles. Between bringing family here, and my husband I have tried several different entrees, and have always been impressed. Everything is prepared really well, and taste delicious. Dessert is another treat at Kinley's. Everything is house made, and they rotate the flavors. Their house made cheesecakes are always decadent and really delicious. But, the star of the show is the mocha bourbon pecan torte. It is a flavor explosion. I would highly recommend giving Kinley's a try! read more
