This was my first time to this place and I will be back. I had a few drinks at the bar and had around 2-3 bowls of popcorn as I spoke to a few of the patrons about their experience in Alaska. There was a crowd of folks having a great time (been there awhile ) and waited anxiously for when the mechanical bull was open to them. If you like listening to current or past music from Tik Tok this place might be for you. Don't worry about not knowing the Dj's name because he will tell you every 2 to 3 songs. Funny how the Dj claimed all kinds of skill but does the same shit the other did before him. It's a different vibe in this bar and not for the better. This is a decent bar that caters to the younger crowd. They have a mechanical bull in the middle of the bar that you can ride for free. You just have to sign a waiver. They have a bar on the side and a bar in the back corner and seating around the mechanical bull area. There is a very small dance floor and an elevated platform behind the mechanical bull. You will find another whole room you will find another bar, some restrooms and bar games such as pool and darts. They play older hip hop, pop and country music. Nothing too new. They do not charge cover (or at least not while I was there), but they are strict about IDs. There is metered street parking and some commercial parking lots and garages all in a reasonable walking distance and you can enter the bar through the front or back. This place can get packed on weekends as the evening goes on. They have some hot dog vendors that are out front of there during the evening to catch the drunks as they come out. The drinks are reasonably priced, and my visit was mehhhh. Nothing special. read more

I was assulted at gaslight on 7-30-22. Some random person came up and punched me three times and I was knocked out. The security did nothing to apprehend the man and afterwords, the staff and security treated me with hostility, accusing me of starting the fight and clearly did not want to deal with the issue. I held my ground and got the police involved, but I highly suggest people find another bar to go to if you want to be safe and respected. The gaslight doesn't care for your safety and avoids any responsibility when they have incidents. read more

The atmosphere is nice and the drinks are good, but there's this guy who makes drinks that's an absolute asshole. he's got an attitude of a 5-year old spoiled brat. Yikes. This was a pretty uninviting dive. Being from Portland, we go to dive bars frequently and have experienced some awful crowds but this was something else. The bartenders seemed inexperienced and unwelcoming. I asked for a Bulleit Bourbon on the rocks and it took the bartender 3 tries to get it right. Drinks don't get much simpler than that... Additionally, there were groups of greasy dudes with their pants sagging to their ankles staring down my girlfriend like crazed vultures. The mechanical bull seems like it could be fun in the right setting but it just seemed trashy next to the dancer poles. I'm sure there's better dives in Anchorage; avoid this one. read more

I've been coming to the Gaslight for over a year, and the only people who get kicked out are the aggro, belligerent type who can't remember what kind of fools they made of themselves the very next day. If you pick a fight in the bar you will be kicked out of the bar - it's that simple. The draft is cheap, the people are often nice and courteous, and the staff are very pleasant to talk to. If you don't like this bar, that's fine, but no need to lie about it being ran by "slum lords" or accuse the security of trying to get rapey. That kind of vibe isn't what Gaslight is about. Michael the security guard was a GODSEND. He even cleared off our empties and went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. The bartenders couldn't have been more inattentive and more concerned with the well-being of their libido then the well- being of the customer. The bar-staff (dressing in matching plaid and scraggly beards) ignored my request to participate in Karaoke, while they serenaded female regulars at the bar. Not to sound the slightest bit pretentious (as we are from Chicago and love dive bars and karaoke, but these guys played favorites and deserved wayyyyy less than the 10% that was left for them. I wasn't expecting the service to be so bad. I'm 21 so yes, I do look young. Do you need to have 3 different people check my ID? No, I don't think so. Do they all need to be assholes about it? No, I don't think so. I could've gotten past that if the bartenders weren't all hanging out at one end of the bar with their buddies, and you had to work to get their attention. This place was beyond horrible. I went my for the first time recently and will never be going back. I was told to leave the bar and when I asked why they wouldn't tell me, just said I had to leave. Then they wouldn't let me tell my friend I was with or get my coat. I tried to tell the "bouncer" multiple times I had my coat with phone, cards, and keys in the bar, he wouldn't even let me get the word out and kept telling me to "Leave Now". How can a bouncer tell you to leave for no reason then not let you get your jacket when it's 17 degrees out and have no way of getting into your house or pay for a cab home. Great bar that I'd probably never notice if I wasn't on the hunt for a quiet bar that had baseball on. Luckily it was the middle of the afternoon and not very busy. The first thing I noticed was the bull in the middle of the place. The bartender Kevin was great, the other patrons were nice, and the drinks were tasty. I really got exposed to Anchorage gritty bar scene and after hours working there had no clue skankorage was that gritty.Great place if u want to get in a 3 on 1(u) fight or see a few ppl beat up a beyond drunk guy .but afc at the sully got that every other week.id stay away from 2-4 especially if u got ur girl or a date cause when they close all 250(capacity) go out to side walk for 4 things .taxi,smoke;fight or f-#*k and usally the guys end up fighting.i worked there for almost a year and 13 aeperate fights is the most I had to stop and that was just me that doesn't count any fights the other 5 bouncers stopped. Fri and sat 6 bouncers for 250 filled . Lot of ethnic fights in girls room but guys wud brawl on sidewalk till we sent the person less beat up or less drunk walking twords the pioneer to let them deal with the person . The cops multiple times and nights wud say u again thrata how often fights went down. Lot of wankstas hang there and was a melting pot of races there which a few didn't like each other and had weekly fights . One guy got beat to death leaving in parking lot my co worker got shoot at front door and shawty our unofficial mascot got kill d trying to stop a guy from beating a women .broke her jaw. They do hqv a mechanical bull that's set up till midnight or if we are super busy go a away early to make room. It do ant get sketchy tilll after midnight and is low key mon-Thur. Every Friday and sat was multi fights for months . Last night work e had to fight a guy that stabb e a dude in the eye and face with a beer bottle he brok off a beam then planted it in dudes face . Oh that was a Wendsay with only 9 ppl in the bar . I said enough after that one main reason was cause I chased after him outside then we fought I ended up ontop of him and hoping my other bouncer wud help when this guys buddies 5 of them were standing over me and the kid I was holding down yelled get this fucker off me he's got me . I was like fuck here comes 10 boots raining down on me when one of his boys was like nah bruh u went to far that kid is gunna prob lose his eye .not cool . I was like thank god just then other bouncer and dj came out to help me with this dude . A group of us went out for a friends birthday. Gas light is usually the place we go, good music and a mechanical bull. While getting our IDs checked the bouncers wouldn't let two of our friends in. Turns out the reason they can't get into the bar is because they are Samoan... the owner has specifically asked his employees not to let Samoans into his bar. Talk about racial discrimination!! This man is an upstanding citizen and a veteran of the US Army. This place will no longer be getting my service and I highly suggest taking you business elsewhere! read more

Gas Light Lounge: The worst bar I have ever been too. This place is dangerous, corrupt and expensive. I recently advised security that the bartender overcharged my drinks and the security guy told me to shut up and shoved me extremely aggressively out the door. Once outside I told another security employee I want the surveillance tape and he told me it had never happened and they don't use security tapes and I am a liar. The other complaint I have is the pathways are dangerously tight and you run into thug like patrons who feel disrespected because you accidently bumped into them. My review is to stay away from this bar. The drinks are more expensive than their competitors, their bouncers are overly aggressive and very easy to anger and willing to put themselves higher then the law for protection of the establishment.The bar is also dangerous because you run the risk of fighting some idiot thug which puts your freedom and health in danger. If you're a woman I suggest you be extremely careful as well. With the low lifes that hang around this bar and lack of law you run a higher risk of sexual assult. Terrible employee made it a disgusting visit for me. I was taking a break from the flashing lights by the back door and waiting for my friend to meet me there since my phone was dead and one of the security guys (a heavy set guy with a beard and a hat on) started yelling at me to get back into the dance floor, I tried explaining that I have epilepsy and wasn't expecting so many flashing lights, but he proceeded to call me a "bimbo" and a "bitch" and started to shove me out the door. At this point I was so appalled all I could do was laugh, to which he got even more aggressive and started trying to antagonize me calling me by even more profanities. The other two security guys tried to reason with him but he was either drunk or just in a manic and that only set him off more. I understand they have stressful jobs, but if you cannot maintain a certain level of tact and composure while working, you should not have that job let alone be the "manager" which he stated he was when I asked to speak with one. He was so rude and discrimitory that he made me cry, I've truly never experienced someone so distasteful. Neither me or my friends will be returning. read more
