The team arrived exactly on time, wearing uniforms and ready to work. They started by wrapping our big items like the glass coffee table, TV, and mirrors in protective blankets. They even took apart our bed frames and carefully packed up the headboards and hardware. What impressed me most was how careful they were with our walls and doors, our old apartment had some tight corners, but they maneuvered the large sofa and dresser without leaving a single scratch. Plus, they set everything exactly where we asked in our new place. They even double-checked with me before leaving to make sure nothing was missed. The entire move took less time than I expected, and the final bill matched the original quote perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

They quoted me 6 hours for my move and then tried to charge me for 14. On delivery day, they ignored my calls until I threatened to call the state police and file charges for stealing my belongings. When they finally called back, they claimed they didn't even have me on the schedule -- despite multiple conversations confirming the exact delivery date. They eventually showed up five and a half hours late, in a U-Haul (not a company truck), with only one hand truck -- and had to use mine. Every single piece of my furniture was damaged, many items were completely broken, and some were outright missing. I watched one mover literally throw my boxes around and carry one couch pillow at a time while the clock -- and my bill -- kept running. This same mover argued with co-workers in front of me and even dropped an F-bomb at me on his way out. This company is a classic bait-and-switch operation: careless, disorganized, unprofessional, and completely unconcerned about your belongings. Went home to Florida for the holidays recently but I wanted to bring a bunch things with me. Things that were too big to fit on a plane so I had them shipped with Long Distance Moving Experts. They were one of the first places I called to get a quote from but afterwards l called a couple other spots just to make sure the rate they gave me was fair. Not only was it fair but their policy is you just pay once up front for the move after you give them the start and ending locations. I noticed other places didn't offer this so that made this company sound that much better of a choice. I'm giving this place 5 stars because I didn't have any problems with the move. Everything arrived on time, nothing was damaged and they made the whole experience as easy as they could for me. They were organized the whole time and kept me notified as the move went on.

That happened 3 times. I still have not had my things delivered and it has been over 2 weeks no word. I FINALLY got a hold of manager who told me they legally have "21 days" to get you your things and it was in the small writing on paper you sign. Here is something else to NOTE. They will take your credit card to reserve but they dont really tell you that they require you to pay CASH OR POSTAL MONEY ORDER when the movers arrive. No cashiers check, check, c card. I was like is this 1986? Postal Order..I don't know about you... but personally handing over a grand in cash to a mover seems weird. I think most their reviews are fake. This will likely be removed. I am going to complain to the BBS and American Board for Storage and Moving.

One lounge chair had nicks and dings out of it, one kitchen chair inexplicably had a seat pad repaired but in a way that is different than all the other kitchen chairs, one rug was left on the truck after they left, and one box is completely missing and they take no responsibility for this missing box. Then they show me a list where everything was checked off, however they already know that one of the things checked off on that list is on the truck heading back to Chicago, so this check off list was completely made up. I was not here for the delivery, and they knew that I would not be here for the delivery as it was a move across country, and I expected them to take responsibility for making sure that everything that was shipped did arrive. I understand that things happen in transit, moving across country can be difficult, but their customer service in assisting with the problems has been horrible. Find someone that has better customer service.

That being said, I was incredibly anxious when it came to choosing an interstate moving company I could trust. However, Pickens-Kane was very communicative with me throughout the process, willing to work with me as my dates continued to shift and move around during uncertainty and answering any of the many questions I had. During my FaceTime moving quote with Jennifer Smith, she took the time to assess each piece of furniture and estimate the number of boxes. She also walked through the term sheets with me and made sure their service would meet my expectations by asking me what was most important to me in my move and how they would strive to achieve that. She let me know about Allied Express as an option, which is what I ended up going with, which significantly lowered the cost of my move as compared to a traditional move. She thoroughly explained the differences without pressuring me in either direction to make the decision for the move myself, which I greatly appreciated. Kathy Strle was a fantastic move coordinator and always available to me throughout the move to answer any questions and keep me in the loop as far as the team's arrival for the initial move and eventual delivery in California. She was incredibly responsive and a joy to chat with on the phone when I had questions about my move. I reserved the freight elevator in my building for 9am-12pm, since I scheduled the movers to arrive at 9am from Bloomingdale. I fully expected for them to arrive closer to 9:30, as per my previous experience with movers. On moving day, Chase and his team knocked on my door promptly at 9:04am, were very professional, and were also cautious of CoVid safety precautions by wearing masks and avoiding handshakes. He took the time to explain to me what they were doing, where they were putting items, and finished in a timely fashion. The movers themselves were very careful with my belongings, tagging them, and proceeding in an organized manner. I am happy to say that all of my items arrived in California in great condition!

But you need to budget it in maybe ~10% more than the all in binding quote. They have several levers to pull to tack on extra fees after they lock in your business. For us it was an extra $1,100 above our all in binding quote across two different tactics. Unfortunately, they had the leverage and used it against us. Despite flagging our issues two weeks prior, they stalled until the night before delivery and then threatened that they would not perform delivery if we did not agree to their terms immediately (we got an updated contract with extra fees at 8pm the night before delivery). As background, we got quotes from two companies when we moved from CA to IL. We made it abundantly clear up front - given timing urgency and a pregnancy, we wanted full packing, delivery, and unpacking. We also asked that they include any and all permits and third-party fees (such as taking TV mounts off the wall). It was very black and white, our quotes would include all these services. A competitor (United) came back with the best all in quote. It agreed to all of the above in writing. I really wish we had gone with them. But the Pickens-Kane team offered to match United's written quote after an extensive 90 minute walk through. They agreed verbally to packing, delivery, unpacking and baked in over $800 of third-party fees. We went with them as they performed a move for us in the past with only minor friction. Unfortunately, they errantly left the "unpacking" line item off the final multi-page quote they sent us. The team there admitted to us that this was an oversight. They agreed that we had asked for unpacking. They agreed that they meant to include unpacking, as this was a non-negotiable ask from us. They agreed that unpacking was part of the competitor quote that they were matching. Yet they contend that the fine print of the contract omitted unpacking. The contract did have a section marked "unpacking", so we assumed it was included. There would be no reason to think otherwise. They argued that items in that section were left blank, and thus we should have known that it was not included. This seems crazy. We discussed thoroughly that unpacking was included. The competing quote says explicitly that unpacking was included. We agreed verbally that unpacking was included. There is a section that says unpacking in the contract we signed. I don't know if this is dishonesty or negligence. I really believe negligence. But the fact that they were not willing to make it right is hard to fathom. We had several intense back and forths during an already stressful move and pregnancy. I offered to meet them halfway - which still seemed quite unfair. But even this they denied. Eventually they settled on a 25% discount on the unpacking fee. It's hard for us to understand this given the entire unpacking fee was verbally agreed to as part of our total payment. But now we're paying an extra $919 for this service. Unfortunately, there's more. As part of the walkthrough, we highlighted a pull-out couch that we own. It is a rather small couch, but it disassembles as it's a bit heavy. That said, two people can easily pick it up - we quite easily moved it around today after it was fully assembled. The competing United team thought that they could likely move it without disassembly, but noted that they would cover disassembly from a third-party if ultimately needed as part of the all in binding quote. We were very explicit in our 90 minute walk through with the Pickens-Kane team about this couch. There was no surprise to them that it was a heavy couch and it came apart if needed. The person doing the walk through noted this and opted out of baking in additional in third-party costs. On the day of the move, we were informed that we would need to pay an extra $428 if we wanted to take this couch ($214 to disassemble and $214 to reassemble). This caught us very off guard. It was part of the all in binding quote. We were very explicit about the nature of this couch and were assured that it was part of the all in binding quote). Yet on move day, they used their leverage. We had to agree to the steep additional fee or leave the couch (which was not an option given replacement value was quite high). We asked, "what could we have done differently given you agree we provided you with all the information and you gave us an all in binding quote?" They said there was nothing we could have done differently. This should've been part of the all in quote, but they are simply not honoring it. Eventually they reduced the charge by half to $214. In full, $1,100 taken from us. This is not a serious team. I believe some of our direct contacts had good intentions, but management clearly put them in an impossible position. Go elsewhere or be prepared to pay significantly more than you are quoted.

I've moved numerous times within the United States, including coast to coast, but had never undertaken an international move. Needless to say, I was apprehensive about the process and all the logistical complications that could potentially arise. I spoke with friends and colleagues who had moved internationally, asked countless questions, gathered recommendations, and eventually narrowed our choices to three companies. Thank goodness we chose Laser, and even more importantly, thank goodness we had Adam guiding us through the entire process. From our very first contact, Adam was the epitome of professionalism, courtesy, knowledge, and patience. We booked our July 2026 move back in December 2025, so there were many months during which questions arose--and we had plenty of them! Adam answered every single one promptly, thoroughly, and clearly. No question was ever too small or too obvious, and I'm quite certain we asked some of the same questions more than once. Not once did he make us feel that we were imposing on his time. I'm sure Adam had countless other clients and responsibilities, but he somehow managed to make us feel as though we were his only clients. The level of personal attention was extraordinary--almost like having our own moving concierge. Adam guided us through every stage of the move: the initial pickup in New York by Best Guy Movers, the loading of our belongings into the shipping container, the ocean voyage, customs and other logistical arrangements, and finally the delivery of our belongings in the UK by Britannia Movers. At no point did we feel passed off to someone else or left to figure things out on our own. Adam remained our consistent point of contact throughout, always available to answer questions, explain unfamiliar procedures, and reassure us when something seemed complicated. His patience and attention to detail made an enormous difference during what could otherwise have been a very stressful experience. What impressed me just as much was that his care didn't end once our belongings were delivered. Within a couple of days of the completed move, Adam followed up personally to make sure everything had gone smoothly. I told him how pleased we were with him, with Laser, and with Britannia. When I mentioned a problem we'd experienced with Best Guy Movers--something that was neither Adam's fault nor his responsibility--he listened attentively, responded with genuine empathy, and made sure our feedback was passed along. That, to me, says a great deal about his professionalism and commitment to his clients. If I could give Adam and Laser more than five stars, I absolutely would. What initially felt like a daunting international relocation turned out to be a remarkably smooth and well-managed experience, largely because we had someone so knowledgeable, dependable, and genuinely caring looking after us. I would use Laser again without a moment's hesitation, and I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend them. If you're planning an international move, do yourself a favor and ask for Adam. Aaron kept checking in at different points in the move process and helped with changes to delivery plans. A few items arrived with some damage. When signing up we had a quote for the amount of items and $60 for any pick up or drop off appointments. At some point during the time we stored with them they changed their policy so the appointment fee to drop off our things back to us after storage is $800! Its highly inconsiderate and unimaginable to have customers sign up for $60 fees and change that to $800 after the agreement was already made, and they have the customer's items. I cannot understand a change like that, and will be reaching out to their billing department to dispute this charge. Makespace is an efficient moving and storage combo company. The process of preparing made sense; we told the company what items we needed stored and they sent us bags so we can pack ahead of time. We were able to work with Rick and Travis who did great jobs moving us out of one place and in to our next place. Rick is a friendly, outspoken personable character; he has a lot of moving knowledge that was helpful for breaking down furniture and placement of furniture. The customer service was helpful when we called to make appointments or discuss billing. We were able to go to the storage facility to drop off additional storage items. We used the storage for around 6/7 months.

When the movers showed up to pack and move us, they were polite, fast, very careful with our possessions. We had to wait two weeks so they stored all of our belongings for a very reasonable rate and showed up early the day to move us into new home. They placed all of our boxes in the correct rooms, set up beds, tables, chairs and helped us rearrange our furniture. While I unpacked I noticed that absolutely nothing was damaged or broken! The moving of all your "stuff" after thirty years in one house is never easy or fun but Century made it as easy as possible. I had to pay extra for a 'professional packer' to pack and move my piano. it was the worst packed of everything that was moved. The boxes they moved were dented. Additionally one of the packers pissed all over my toilet and the floor around it. One other thing, keep in mind that the really low price quoted by the sales agent will change - their own foreman apparently tells everyone the amount will increase by 25% which cancels out that discount to got from the 'really nice sales person' Use this company with caution!!!
