Cute little place loved the menu! It was a warm day so we had the shrimp ceviche and it was amazing! First time i ever had saltines with ceviche and its quite the unique taste, I'd heard about it but had never tried it, so that was pretty cool. I found the ceviche very balanced which can be hard to do as you're using alot of citrus. Can't wait to try more things.

This is one of ten local businesses that operate out of The Churchill in downtown Phoenix. Provecho serves Central Mexican cuisine and has tacos, ceviche, quesadillas, horchata and other favorites on their menu. We were out for drinks and stopped here for a bite. I did their 3 street taco deal for $12 and got Carne Asada, Pollo Asado, and Shrimp. The wait wasn't too long and there are benches to sit at inside the Churchill. Decent place to grab a quick bite.

The carne en su jugo is nice and feels like comfort food. It's basically meat and beans in the meat broth/gravy and served with warm tortillas. I liked it, but there wasn't anything that made me crave it again. I also ordered the churros, which were delicious and freshly made. The churros came with 3 dipping sauces (caramel, strawberry, and a cream cheese(?)), and I think the strawberry was my favorite. I saw some interesting seafood dishes on the menu that I might try next time I come here.

Pretty standard tacos, I wouldn't say they're extraordinary but they're also not straight up bad. I've only been to The Churchill a few times and it's better known as a spot for drinks, but Provecho provides the sustenance one needs before anything. My friend ordered their carne asada fries that had a variety of ingredients on them; she said they were okay. I am quite the picky eater so part of me is willing to choose this place again if I am eating at the Churchill and don't want anything else in there, but that's only because I was fine with all the ingredients on the tacos. Also this isn't what I would call a "cheap" place but I haven't really found a taco spot in downtown phoenix that I could include in that label anyways. I'd recommend staying near the ordering counter to wait for your food so that you can quickly get it when they call you and it doesn't get cold.

The elote won my vote here! We had the birria (which was tad bit on the salty side) but were disappointed with it. The staff were awesome and replaced the meal for us. The chicken quesadilla and the carne asada quesadilla were tasty. Be ready for a large portion ...these are definitely shareable. I'd be back esp for the elote in a cup!!

I liked it, didn't love it. Living in Central Coast California we have Mexican food on corner. So to eat something a bit different is a good thing. Eating off paper isn't different but there presentation is good, it looked appealing. The jamaica in a bag was great, never seen that before. The flavors are good in the foods that didn't have to much heat. The hotter foods torched my mouth before I could get any flavors. Service was good and helpful with questions.

This spot has really good tacos and is located inside of Churchill, which is a really nice lively area in downtown! I ordered the three plate taco combo: shrimp, care asada, and carnitas. The meat was very tender and I personally loved the carne asada taco because I typically find steak very dry, but not here! The only downside of my meal was that the food was pretty cold, so I'm unsure how fresh the tacos actually were. Overall, the food was still great and I would go back again. The ambiance was a 10/10 experience! Churchill has open outdoor seating, which made it more COVID safe and there are other trendy restaurants within that area. They had a live DJ too! I would definitely recommend this spot!

Finally came to try the new spot in downtown! Let's just start by saying The Churchill is legit, can't wait to come back to hangout with friends. Provecho caught my eye after stating they stuck to authentic Jalisco, Guadalajara foods. Their menu offers a great variety and daily specials. We ordered tacos: chicken, carne asada, brisket, and shrimp. All of the meats/shrimp/chicken had a flavorful taste. The brisket is bursting in flavor and filling; not you're typical meat for a taco but highly recommend it. The chicken taco was perfect, not dry and juicy. We also tried the elote in a cup, the corn has its own flavor which is amazing and super tasty. I also got an agua fresca best part is the little bag they serve it in, the horchata is great. I'm just excited to come back and try more of their menu as they have ceviche, birria de chivo, and different plates. To top off the stop, the owner came out and approached us to check on the food and say hello! Job well done!

The corn dogs were good, the quesadillas are good. Can't complain on the wait time, service or atmosphere. They are part of a food truck type community bar. Definitely looking forward to trying other menu items. Think these guys are hard workers and have a great concept on their food items. Definitely would recommend. You can order. Then grab a drink at one of the bars, find a spot to sit and bang. Foods ready.

Business incubators like The Churchill are great for giving small startup businesses a space from which to launch a vision. In Provecho's case, the vision of owner Ryan Oberholtzer is to bring his interpretation of Jaliscos style Mexican food to the Downtown Phoenix crowd. And to do so in an eco friendly manner. The mission seems like a noble one. And with big crowds consistently streaming into The Churchill's inviting complex, its a pretty good spot to take a gamble. Likewise, I decided to take a gamble on Provecho for an early dinner on Saturday afternoon. The Churchill complex can be found on the northeast corner of 1st Street & Garfield in Downtown. Look for Provecho's small kitchen setup inside the southeast corner of the complex. Here you order at the register. After ordering they give you a card with an illustration on it (mine was a drum set). When the order is ready, the cooks place a blowup photo of your illustration in the kitchen window. You then pick it up and grab a seat anywhere in the complex. While they have tacos as any Mexican joint would, the menu otherwise largely steers clear the Americanized Mexican foods we're accustomed to. Ceviches, Aguachiles, and even Tortas make appearances on the menu. Speaking of which, that torta was what I was here for. I've had tortas (Mexican sandwiches) throughout the Phoenix area and rarely have left unhappy. Provecho's Torta Ahorgada is a sandwich of carnitas stuffed inside Bolillo (basically a Mexican baguette) that is then quite literally drowned in tomato sauce. Intriguing. I also asked for a couple of appetizers, but they were out of both. Out of two menu items before the prime dinner hour on a Saturday? No bueno. On the plus side, they were stocked on the dessert front and a good tres leches cake was mighty appealing. Provecho's tres leches is served with whipped cream, strawberry sauce, toasted almonds, and shaved coconut. Total cost for the food and tax came to $15. The eco friendly angle comes in the form of compostable plates and silverware. Even the cups and take out bags are compostable. Mother Earth sends her thanks. Now then, let's evaluate the food. But first, I have to mention my food took almost 15 minutes. I know its a small operation, but it was hardly the busiest time of day so I can only imagine how long it takes during prime time. My feelings about the torta were...mixed. I loved the tender juicy carnitas and there was lots of it. The Bolillo bread was decent too but honestly I think the tomato sauce kind of soured me on this sandwich. A little spice or seasoning would've done this dish some good as the tomato sauce was really bland. The Tres Leches cake on the other hand was very pleasant with a super moist texture and I really liked the addition of the strawberry sauce. Overall, just okay this first go around. The dessert gets a big thumbs up and the meat in my sandwich was excellent. But between the slow service, missing menu ingredients, and bland tomato sauce, it was far from ideal. Somewhere between a 2.5-3 star experience for me. Provecho has been open long enough that they should have the kitchen flow and the food inventory pretty well figured out. But at least for now, this ambitious startup still has plenty of room for improvement.

Today we decided to stop by provecho for a agua fresca! This picture shows the agua de horchata which was very delicious, but we also tried the limón con chia which was my favorite! This little gem is located inside the Churchill which is a cute little place with multiple restaurant and shops to explore. Although we only tried the aguas frescas their menu options look delicious and we will definitely come back for some food! The customer service was great and the ambiance was amazing! Definitely check this place out! read more

I've been to Provecho last night. The tacos were okay, just a little pricey in my opinion. $3.50 per taco. Their Jamaica tea is good too, the idea of using a bag is really cool. I wish I could try their Horchata, but it has dairy milk in it, which I am intolerant to. I thought the whole concept of the Horchata was to use plant based milks but not here I guess. This is got to be my new favorite spot!!! I feel like I'm in Mexico! The ceviche is so deliciously authentic, the Agua Fresca is so uniquely perfect, served in a bag with chia seeds! Feels like you're street-side in Mexico. The owner arrived while we were there, and was able to give us a quick history of the food. His passion for his place is infectious and you could feel it through the staff as well, even before he got there; His staff was super knowledgeable on all the great food and you could tell they enjoyed their environment ((which speaks volumes about this place)) I could go on and on! I will visit again and bring my family and friends! Highly recommend! Price is great! The Churchill environment is super inviting... PS MUST HAVE THE FLAN! read more

I came to the churchill to celebrate my friends birthday. We ordered our food from Provecho & it did not disappoint! Everything from the tacos to the elote, OMG the elote was other worldly! It tasted like the corn of my childhood. I also got a bogo coffee with their special rewards program. I am not a coffee drinker but my friend is and she absolutely loved the iced Mexican coffee. Love the variety of food for all types of diets. We'll definitely be back! read more

The food was okay. I ordered carne asada tacos and fries for my daughter. The meat was beef but it was not carne asada. It was more like marinated chuck roast. Good concept good portions...... the carnitas tacos are ver bland and flavorless. The Gordita is big in size but it looks like an overfilled pita bread. Nothing special here the chips taste like they are old. The salsa bar was dirty and nearly empty and the salsas are tasteless. The best part of the meal was the guac. Btw it's also zero eco friendly to serve aguas frescas in bags with straws. Very disappointed. Was really looking forward to eating here. read more

Visited on Sunday afternoon. The venue has a nice vibe to it and was not very busy. This rating is for the Ceviche. It was still raw. I took it back and asked the server to package it to go because it needed to marinate a little longer. When he looked at it, he agreed that it did not look done to him either. He apologized, yet did not offer to exchange it or give my money back. This may be due to the chef questioning him about why he was packing it up. The chef questioned who said it was not done and said something that I could not hear. When the server came back with the package, he looked confused as to what he should do, but still only apologized and handed me the raw fish and shrimp in a bag. So as not to ruin my day, I chose not to make an issue of it and let it go. Instead of bringing it home, I deposited it in the trash. Bad decision on my part to order raw fish on a day that was 104 degrees outside. read more

I was so excited to come check out Churchill. I decided to first start with Provecho. The guy that helped me was so nice and helpful. I bought everything he recommended and it was all great! I ordered the brisket taco, fish taco, and carne asada tacos. The fish was my favorite! I also got the corn in the cup and that was a great appetizer. I cant wait to come back and try other stuff. The ambience of the place is chill and a place to wind down and eat a good meal. read more

Great options for vegans!! Their rice, beans, and grilled veggie tacos are incredibly flavorful and filling. They've also got a special on mondays, i'm forgetting the name at the moment, but it is TO DO FOR. They grill a bunch of veggies on a giant skewer, including pineapple on top, and cut it right off & fill you up some tasty tacos with it. They've also got a couple of aqua frescos that are vegan (limon con chia is my fave!) that are a great complement. And for dessert, try their mango topped with a sweet, tangy sauce. If there is zero star I would have given a zero star. I ordered it from postmate. for $3.5 per taco I expect quality. It has no quality nor presentation. The bag came in soaked with Salsa. Well, they didn't quite have it. Elote was overseasoned, carne asada was full of gristle, and one of the shrimp in my Taco wasn't cleaned and full of sand. Love the vibe of the Churchill, but won't order from here again. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect when visiting Provecho for the first time. We ordered carne asada tacos, chips and guacamole and a breakfast burrito. The burrito was good the chips were okay however the tacos weren't warm and had little flavor. I would compare to the quality of chipotle. The service was good and I enjoyed the "loteria cards" since it was loud it made it easy for us to see our food was ready. I Might come back if I was in the area and wanted a light snack. read more

Located in a plaza made shipping containers, it is an outdoor venue! Likely nice for the fall, but went in the middle of summer and it was HOT! The food is decent, the beans were REALLY tasty. The carne en su jugo was okay. They have a mini salsa bar which was nice. read more

Will not be back. Was told to "check back" to see if my food was ready. Shrimp was raw. Chips were chewy. Tomatillo salsa over salted. Veggie taco had less than 2 tablespoons of cold veggies. read more

We are OBSESSED with this restaurant. First of all, the owners are usually there and so nice! We love coming for the bottomless mimosa brunch on the weekends. I don't think I've ever ordered anything that I didn't like. Oh and they have the best margaritas read more

I've been to all the spot on the street taco craze and have been to all the spots. JoyRide, Otro, Gallo Blanco, and one in arcadia I forget the name. These tacos were my favorite by far. Killer ambience as well. read more

I love that they use Loteria as an order number. The whole openness to the other shops and bars is really awesome. The food was okay I don't like leaving bad reviews everyone has a preference for how they liked their meat cooked and spices but it's good the horchata was a little watered down. This is just one experience I'm sure I will give it another shot! read more

This unique restaurant is authentic Mexican food. The Agua Chile Shrimp is yummy, the Carne Asada Tacos are amazing, and the Aguas Frescas are like drinking a sip from Mexico. The staff are friendly and take an extra step to provide excellent customer service. I recommend you to live this experience! read more

Went on First Friday looking foreword to the food since they had just opened the Churchill a week prior. Typical size for street tacos. The brisket taco was the best from all the tacos we got. This place is definitely on the pricier side for the sizes. The horchata was not close to the best I've had, very grainy and lacked flavor. As this place is at the Churchill, seating is very limited some nights with the amount of people there. read more

One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. The architecture inside is very interesting due to the roof structure.

So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. If you like Mexican food and seafood, you need to try it. Great food, big portions, and a menu that makes it hard to stop ordering.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
