La Hamburguesa

From what I understand, the truck moves around to different locations, so it's worth keeping an eye out for where they'll be next. We ordered three Viva Mexico burgers and one bacon avocado burger, plus fries. The total came out to around $80 for the four of us. It's a little on the high side for burgers and fries, but the quality and portion sizes were definitely solid. The fries were a standout. They're hand cut and cooked in beef tallow, which gives them a rich flavor you don't get from typical fries. My son immediately said they're in his top three fries he's ever had, which says a lot. The burgers were big, messy, and really flavorful, definitely a little greasy, but in the best way. The Viva Mexico burgers had great flavor, and the bacon avocado burger was just as good. Overall, if you like a good, greasy burger and excellent fries, La Hambuguesa is worth trying.

La Hamburguesa has been in my bookmarks for quite a while now, and when I saw that they had a fish…read moresandwich special and it was their last day to try it, I had to make plans to make sure I got my hands on it. My friends and I arrived about 20 minutes before the truck opened, and there were already a few people standing in line. The line moved pretty quickly, and the total time from ordering and receiving our food was only about 15 minutes. At this time, the line wrapped around the truck. The food came out hot and fresh. Filet-o-fish is one of my favorites of all time, and the filet de fish did not disappoint at all! The first bite had us levitating and seeing stars. The tartare sauce that the fried fish was smothered in was delicious and creamy, and the fish fillet itself was tender and flaky. The toasted and soft Japanese bun was the cherry on top. Simple and comforting and nostalgic, but elevated in the best way. We also tried their popular Viva Mexico, but we felt like it lacked in flavor and only tasted spicy, if that makes sense. Beef tallow fries were okay and not anything special. Great portions, however, it was still pretty expensive for a food truck burger. I'm glad I got to try this place out and will be back if the filet de fish hits the menu again, and would try their Signature next time.

Random AF Taqueria - Birria Grilled Cheese Sandwich

The birria was cooked to perfection packed with rich, amazing flavor and incredibly tender. Every bite was juicy and satisfying. The grilled cheese was outstanding, with perfectly melted cheese that paired so well with the savory birria. You can tell real care goes into the food here. We'll definitely be back to try the surf and turf fries next time!

A taco shop inside a convenience store going kind of viral off their birria and unique offerings…read more The vibes are kind of odd and they're not the friendliest bunch. The service isn't rude but it's not friendly either, 3/5. I tried the birria hard shell tacos, rice and beans, 'random af' fries with asada, California burrito, and birria grilled cheese. The birria hard shell tacos ($8) were not very good. Kind of bland, the shells were overdone and greasy, and there wasn't enough meat on the tacos. The rice is spotty with some being too overcooked and crunchy. The beans were bland and very runny, not a huge fan. 2/5 The birria grilled cheese ($15) had too much cheese for me and was also kind of bland and one note. Decent but wouldn't get again. 3/5 The California burrito ($18) didn't have guac inside which I found strange. The fries aren't crispy at all and very potato-y, it takes over the burrito a bit too much. The lack of guac makes the burrito lack a bit of pop and a balance of flavors. The meat is tender but leaning on the salty side with not a lot of other seasonings. The portion size is big but not very worth imo. 2/5 The crazy fries ($15) again are not crispy which I didn't like. A lot of potato with little meat. The sauces were fine. The whole dish is leaning very heavily on the flavor of the sauces instead of the meat/fries. 3/5 The side of consomme was also not great, pretty bland for consomme. 2/5 Overall, the flavor profile of this restaurant is very similar across all the dishes. Kind of bland and greasy. It's pricey and on the stingier side for meat portions. They desperately need some kind of bright(er) flavor to balance out the carby/greasy food. Kudos to the presentation and marketing which they do well considering the food looks good and seems to be popping up on social media. The food itself definitely doesn't live up to the standard and is pricey. 3/5, closer to a 2 than a 4, would not recommend.

Salaryman Pasta & Dumplings

Salaryman Pasta & Dumplings

We went here as it was at the Bao and Dumpling festival…read more Service was very friendly. The bao was super good. Lots of flavor, lots of crunch, chicken was good nicely. The sauces were great but a little too much sauce imo. It made me messy, so if you get this, unless you're eating with a fork and knife, get a stack of napkins. Def would eat it again. The boil shrimp dumplings were mid. Too much chili (and I love chili) and cilantro. Also too much cumin. I like to taste the shrimp when I eat shrimp dumplings and prefer when there's chunks of shrimp. Couldn't taste much except the chili, cilantro and cumin. So if you're obsessed with those flavors, this is for you. The dumpling wrapper was nice though cooked nicely, good consistency/texture.

The special looked AMAZING but I wasn't very hungry so I got an order of the green curry pork dumplings and a lamb burger bao. The person who took my order was friendly and offered to answer any questions, and had everything running smoothly! My food came out pretty quick and they had napkins, forks, and chopsticks for you to grab as needed. The green curry dumplings are a nice sized order and came with some lime to squeeze over the dumplings tossed in a green curry sauce. There was also plenty of cilantro on top! These had a bit of a slow heat to them - nothing over the top but it was there. The lamb bao was beautiful and tasty! The lamb patty was delicious, not gamey at all and cooked perfectly. The bun itself is a perfect bao bun. Its bigger than typical, toasty on the outside and so fluffy. Great first visit and looking forward to eating here again!
