I got a recoomendation for this from Yelp's erstwhile competitor, Angie's List. He is prompt, very reasonable, very professional and makes housecalls. He did a complete data recovery on a messed up drive and installed a network for me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

I tried this place based on the previous recommendations and was not disappointed. My laptop hard drive crashed and they weren't able to recover any information, but they replaced it and the overall service was fantastic! They are very professional, quick and thorough. I felt safe leaving my computer and information with them and they are much more affordable compared to other tech. repair businesses. They are my new go-to place for any troubles. read more

Was having major problems getting my custom build put together. I called in late on a Friday, and they were able to complete my build in about an hour. They even stayed late to finish everything up. Great service! read more

I had a very positive experience with these guys. I'd personally recommend asking for Florian. He's a good guy and very helpful. They are very professional and courteous. I'm pretty good with computers but even I couldn't recover my failed hard-drive which was damaged in shipping. These guys managed to recover my data promptly. Their prices are very reasonable too, if I ever have another computer problem I cannot fix myself (even hardware failure!), I'll definitely go back to them. Recommending this place to all my friends. read more

I have gone to pro-computers twice now for a hard drive failure on my laptop. They fixed it in 1 day! He knew exactly what was wrong, emailed my estimate, and and backed up all of my information. I am always happy with my service and would recommend Pro Computers to anyone. read more

These guys are fantastic. Able to fix minor liquid spill/logic board failure on my MacBook Pro for under $300. Apple wanted $1200! Communication with Tristan was awesome. They even stayed open a few extra minutes when I needed to pickup computer after work. :) read more

I chose Crescent Technology based on Yelp reviews, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of place where I would want to get my computer fixed: the guys are serious techies, but with a friendly, personable customer interaction. They gave me a quick estimate of what the problem might be, how long it would take to fix it and for how much. They actually got it done a day early and for about half the price of the initial quote. So, I will definitely come here again for any computer problems I might have. read more

I had a really mixed experience with Pro Computers. They're in my neighborhood so the convenience factor is high and for that reason alone I would maybe give them another shot, but it was a struggle this last time, and my computer's still pretty messed up. I went in with a fried hard-drive. They replaced the drive and recovered the data that was on there. Ok, that was good in theory. But they did a couple annoying things: when setting up the new drive, they spelled my name wrong, which seems small, but it gets irritating after a while of seeing your misspelled name everywhere; plus, it's not that easy to change when it's locked in during the initial set-up. And while they recovered my data, they dumped it all in folder in the desktop so that I had to locate and parcel stuff out, in addition to trying to get iTunes to recognize my old music files, which is a pain in the ass. I ended up pretty much ignoring what they recovered and getting the data back from my external back-up instead (though that back-up didn't have everything on it). Then it turned out I was still crashing all the time, even with the new hard-drive. So I brought it back. At least this time they fixed the name thing and put my music in the right place on the drive to get iTunes to recognize it. But after a week or so, I get the computer back...still crashing. All in all, I brought the thing in three times and it spent at least three weeks in the shop. I ended up upgrading the OS on the third trip. After all this...it still has problems. I just didn't have the heart or patience to bring it back again, since it appears they can't fix the problem and I can deal with a little random crashing. On the customer service side, also mixed. A couple of the guys are really unfriendly, to a stereotypical geek-lacking-social-skills degree. When you're in the shop, they basically point at the sign-in computer without a word. The guy who weems to be in charge or the owner was nice enough. One time I got an email to pick the computer up, only to find when I arrived that in fact the work wasn't done. So, mixed. I appreciated their several attempts to fix the damned thing, but in the end it still isn't fixed. The real problem is not so much that it's still not working well, but that Pro Computer didn't recognize that it wasn't fixed or really ever seem to know what was wrong with it. read more

I had a virus and came here based on the Yelp's reviews. They were rather quick and the pricing was reasonable. They also had a 90 day warranty if you still had problems with your computer. I would recommend this place if you were inept about computers like i am. read more

For well-over a decade, these guys have been my go-to in times of computer crisis. Without fail, they have effectively and quickly cured my laptop's various ills and spills, have always been straight-up and honest, charged fairly, and just have been cool to work with. Great place. read more

I'd called a few days earlier inquiring about getting a laptop key reinstalled - the man who answered the phone said no sweat and just to bring it in. Just wanted to let everyone know Pro Computer is still a great place to go for laptop repairs. Dealt with Florian who was very nice and informative. The power receptacle on the back of my Toshiba Tecra M3 laptop and broken off the board and would no longer supply power to the laptop. Toshiba's authorized service center was estimating 2-weeks for the repair! Florian had it fixed in ONE DAY at a very reasonable cost! Highly recommended. read more

I brought my iPhone in for a screen repair. They fixed it quickly, and when I noticed an issue with the camera, they agreed to fix it for free under the warranty they provided me. Very friendly and honest place. read more

Brought my iPhone 4s in for a lcd replacment due to cracked screen. They were friendly and turned around the repair initially within 1 day, but shortly after receiving my phone the new screen flickered and gradually got worse to the point that it was unusable. Crescent said they had installed a defective screen and that it would take the better part of a week to get new lcds in stock for replacement. I was left with an unusable phone for 3 days before they were able to replace the screen again. Even after the second replacement, the new screen has a smudge of some sort in the corner and isn't 100% right. read more

I happened to be walking by one day and noticed this place. I thought, "why not go in and see about my laptop." The hinge on my laptop was cracked. The screen was slightly loose and wobbly. Not a big deal. I went in and asked, "how much for a new hinge?" The girl at the desk turned to Silent Bob behind her and said, "Sony Vaio hinge - can you look up the price?" She told me to have a seat while the guy probably went to sony.com and looked up the price and then quoted $275 back to me after about 3 minutes. I was like, "Wow that's a lot. No thanks. It's not that troublesome." This is the best part: She looks at me and goes, "That will be $50, please." So, let me just skip ahead past all the next part from me which was like, "What?" and she said it was for "diagnostics." "To diagnose the problem is $50, it says it right there." "Diagnose? The hinge is broke. I told YOU that. You want me to pay you $50 so you can tell me there's a crack right here?" Okay, so and and so forth, I was a sarcastic sob who turned to the other customer sitting there and asked, " Do you see this? Does it looked cracked to you?" And she answers, "Yeah, I guess so." "Here's $50 bucks," I responded as I walked out the door. read more

The CT team took a lot of time to resolve my issue. Initially I thought I had just a power supply issue, but after some testing, they found that it was also a video card problem, which I suspected. I've been to Crescent Technology twice now, and I LOVE these guys. On my first visit, I had a backup drive that wouldn't turn on. Not a place you can go to and get your computer looked at on the spot. I bought a refurbished computer off amazon and the video wasn't displaying on my monitor. The other place took 2 minutes to tel me it had a fried video card and charged me nothing. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, RUDE ! I came in yesterday to extract the hard drive from my laptop into and external one thinking that my computer died and I need to replace the motherboard. I had the hard drive taken out but then my computer turned back on using another cable. So I went back to have everything reversed and have the hard drive back into my computer, and when I asked the guy to do so he became aggressive right away and the first thing he said was "I can't give you a refund" and I never mentioned a refund he assumed right away! Anyway he put back the hard drive and I wanted to turn the computer back on just to make sure everything is working and while the computer was starting I was asking him questions like what do you think the problem was? What kind of computers do you recommend? And he was playing with some wires kind of ignoring me and giving me short answers and he said my computer is TRASH! I left very unhappy, I was treated badly and lost $70, I wish I gave them to someone who deserves them. If you are taking your computer there make sure you ask for an inspection first before they do anything because they assume right away that the owner of the computer is an expert with what should be done. To be fair the girl I saw the first time I came in was absolutely polite and nice hence the 2 stars, but this guy shouldn't be at the front desk or anywhere with human interaction. read more

If I could give 6 stars to a business, then I would be able to accurately rate PRO Computers. I have without a doubt never received more professional and comprehensive customer service than I have with PRO Computers. I don't use my yelp account much, and when I do; it is to make sure that the community is aware of an incredible service available locally, and that they use or don't use that service. PRO Computers has saved not 1, not 2...but three hard drives and their data for me. These guys are amazing, and so low key, no attitude. I have also purchased two rebuilt computers from PRO Computers, and they have worked as if new. When you call or go into the store, you will never feel rushed, or be treated as if you are annoying them with your lack of computer knowledge. I have called them numerous times with questions regarding my computer, and the person answering my call has always been courteous, and has not made me feel rushed, and on a few occasions my problem has been solved with that one call. I have used their service a week ago, and they continue to maintain the same rigorous expertise in resolving your computer problems. Reliability is so important! Every member of PRO Computer possess the same, reliant, and knowledgeable attitude that has existed since the first day I entered their business. But I have to give a shout out to Florian, he is the best. Taylor read more

Excellent, reasonably priced, quick service. The hard drive in my kids' 5 year old iMac crashed. My bad, I didn't follow up on the hard drive's recall notice back in 2012. I also did not have a complete back up of pictures, docs and videos that my kids created over the past years. I didn't think it would matter until.... I found Pro while looking to recycle some computer equipment. While checking out Pro's website regarding the recycling, I received a pop-up message. At that point, I inquired about my iMac. The rep gave me some information and a quote. A day or so later, I brought the equipment for recycling and the iMac to the Andersonville shop. In a couple of days, I received the imac back with a new hard drive and a new OS loaded - for about $200. Much less than buying a new one, for sure. The hard drive was not recoverable using ordinary methods. They sent the drive out to a "clean room". They were able to restore it. Regular back ups and/or acting upon the recall notice would have saved me the cost of $499 to recover it. Steep price but the contents were invaluable to me...and I got them back! Thanks Pro techs! read more

I was very pleased with the tune up to my almost 6 years old laptop. It's running very smoothly now. They were very fast and professional with the work done. I had water damage to my macbook air. I dried out my computer and took out the battery and took it to the Apple store. I was told that it would be $700 to repair. I brought it in to PRO Tech professionals and they repaired it for half the price. They got back to me right away with an emailed estimate and were very professional. I dropped off my computer in the afternoon and had it back by the end of the day the next day. They fixed my motherboard and all my data was saved. My computer turned on like nothing had happened. They also gave me a 120 day guarantee. I would definitely recommend them! Great price, professional establishment and great customer service. read more

The audio jack from my speaker broke off inside of the port of my Macbook. Other places quoted me $1200 and $800 but Crescent fixed it same day for $200. One of the guys even tried to remove the jack with a tiny pair of tweezers and said he would have only charged me $50 if he could get it out. No such luck, but I didnt get charged for the effort. I dropped off my computer at 7am and it was ready by lunchtime. A job well-done. Everything works great now. read more

I actually went to the location in Jefferson Park but don't find that location on Yelp so I'm reviewing the Andersonville store. Can't stay enough. I needed a new power jack installed. My computer was no longer charging. I had this happen to a computer a few years ago - that repair shop told me I would have to send it to the manufacturer for repair at significant cost. I just bought a new lap top. This time, I did a bit more research and found these guys. Dropped off at 9:30, picked up at 2:30. $99 and it was all done. They even let me use a loaner for free since it was for such a short amount of time. Couldn't be happier. Will definitely use these guys again in the future. read more

Bought a computer off of craigslist - my first mistake. Had some crashing/failure to boot problems with it a month later so I brought it into PRO. They identified the problem (viruses from the person I bought it from, thanks guy), fixed it, and I went on my way. A few days later I started having the same issue though not as severe as before, so I waited a couple weeks later after it just wouldn't work. Kind of annoyed, I went back. Once again they identified a NEW problem (RAM was overclocked, once again something the previous owner did), fixed it, and then gave it back to me no charge (which I thought was very generous)! Worked fine for me that night. Ok...so I admit when I had the SAME crashing issue the next morning I was pretty pissed. I brought it back in there and then when they got back to me it turned out to be a whole OTHER problem - power supply issue. They explained why they didn't catch this issue before and they were willing to offer me half off on labor fees because I had brought it in so much. However, I know how to replace a power supply so I just took my computer and did the work myself. So far no issues, almost a month later! This review may sound a little negative but here's why I'd rate them 5 stars - at every step of the process they explained what was going on and what I would need to do to fix it. I know a little bit about computers but not a ton and they were happy to explain things in a way I could understand. At no point did I feel like they were trying to wring money out of me - the 2nd time they didn't even charge me to fix the issue I had and the 3rd time they just let me take my computer out with no charge. Free diagnosis with no pressure to have them do anything is really great. Highly recommended! read more

My computer wouldn't connect to the internet. Found PRO using Yelp and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this store because of its great customer service. Truly, they have went above and beyond for me. I came in to get my laptop repaired because the bezel which connects the screen to the base was damaged. I dropped my laptop at the store and got a call from them the next day on the diagnostics report (which was free). After confirming with them that I wanted the repair done, I kept my laptop with me for the next few days while the new parts shipped. Once the parts shipped, I bought the laptop back in and the repairer finished the task in 3-4 hours. I noticed my laptop was much more sturdier then when I got it brand new. When I returned back home, I found out there was another problem; the wifi card in my laptop was not working, most likely because something went amiss during the repair process. No problem; I called PRO and they replaced my wifi card for free under warranty. I've noticed that my internet feels slightly quicker now. Special thanks to Jake and Stephan for their outstanding professionalism during the whole ordeal. I will definitely be a returning customer because this place exemplifies what good customer service should be. read more
