I have been doing business with this company for a few years…read morenow with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. A few weeks ago, my Jeep engine light started to flash on my way back from my son's basketball game. It got the point where my gas pedal was on the floor and I couldn't accelerate at all. I called Computer Tune and Lube and Dan, the owner, told me to drive it straight to their shop. So I did, and he said he'll have his team take a look and give me a call. Gave me a loaner (2010 Toyota corolla, that sounded worse than my Jeep). Told me not to drive it on Monday (day of the blizzard). With a quarter tank of gas and the way it sounded I just drove it home. Within a few hours I got a call from Dan. He explained that "fuel started to leak on my exhaust tank, which caused my catallactic converter, radiator, temp gauge, etc to not work properly and he'll have his guy start tonight if I give the okay. He told me it would be around $3,800 plus tax for everything. I felt EXTREMELY pressured. I told him to let me talk to my husband and I'll give you a call back. He said, "I'm leaving for the day, and so will my guy unless you give me the okay to go ahead. Otherwise, I can't get to working on your car for another week or so." So I did give the go ahead since I needed my Jeep fixed soon with 6 kids and activities and sports going on next week. Fast forward to last week, I picked up my car on Wednesday and paid in full the $4,267.28. The invoice was 2 pages long! Dan even said " you got a lot of life left in that Jeep. My brother pays over $1,300 for his new jeep, so no need to get a new car anytime soon" Well, yeah especially since I just put $4,000 into it. On Saturday, I drove my jeep on the highway it started to flash with the engine light again. Then my temperature gauge went all the way up to "H." And then it went right back down to "C." Thought it was a fluke so drove it home. On my street, I could barely accelerate and it started to smoke. After getting a second opinion, from another mechanic, they told me this is the shops fault. He said "you just paid to have your radiator replaced which is what cools your engine and prevents it from overheating. See if they can take a look at it free of charge since they caused it." On Monday, I went in person to talk to Dan and see if he could resolve this. He told me that it's my "fault I drove it. I would have to bring it back in the shop and he'd look at it and if it's on them, they would fix it otherwise I would pay for the tow and all other costs associated with it." I told him my jeep never overheated in the past and I just got my radiator fixed from your team and now my engine overheats. He says "it's an old car and has a lot of issues." I felt scammed and didn't trust him after that. I contacted the BBB and decided to write this review to warn others, especially women. His shop caused my jeep to overheat and now after $4,000+ of repairs I can't even drive it. It's NEVER overheated before and I just paid for all those parts to be replaced and then my car overheats and he won't even look at it free of charge? Women, moms, beware, this guy takes FULL ADVANTAGE.

Rolando, Mi Hermano!…read more First of all, $25 for a mounted and balanced used tire is one of the best deals in town. As I briefly perused the inventory, most of his tires have a lot of life left. Will you get a matching set of four? Probably not, but can you argue with $100 to replace ALL your tires? Perfect for someone with a beater that just uses their car to get around town and doesn't see any sense in spending much for new tires. More important to this review: my situation. Balancing tires is somewhat of an art form. And god did I have some horrendous tires and wheels on my truck. Honestly, they were beyond repair. But even so, Rolando and his helper ALMOST got rid of all the vibration related to poor balancing on my original wheels. It was a good job given what he had to work with. But finally, I had it with the stock tires and wheels. So two weeks later, I craigslisted me a nice set of gently used alloy wheels with Goodyear Kevlar All-Terrain tires on them, and I took them straight to Ronaldo. He ran into some challenges during the balancing process, but the result? PURRRRRRFECT. No vibration whatsoever. And amazingly, he charges $5 to mount and balance a tire. CRAZY! I tip him every time. Technically, the total cost of services rendered during my two visits was $55, but I've paid him $80. Worth it. Yeah, it's just a little tire shop crammed into a garage in New Britain. But aren't people more important than presentation? Ronaldo Cruz is a good man, and you should give him your business for sure. Hablan Español!

I asked for the tire rotation and balance and didn't get or pay for it, but didn't really have time this time. They do speak Spanish here....with an interpreter on hand. Hours on Saturday were 8-6pm...was a little tough to communicate that and get an answer. They were ready to replace my 120$ Hancook tires with a 25 dollar tire...which would have been fine. But I made it clear I wanted to keep my tire if at all possible, and they removed a 1 inch screw and just charged me for the patch, which I would have to say is honesty since I dropped it off and picked it up. Always a pleasure supporting New Britain/Connecticut City businesses. Muchas Gracias Cruz!

The staff at the Middletown, CT location were very accommodating when I requested to have my appointment moved up 3 days early making the process of dropping my vehicle off incredibly convenient for me. I would like to specifically acknowledge the Assistant Manager Mustafa for his assistance with an issue regarding the keyed lug nut lock. I had purchased the vehicle, a 2010 4Runner Trail, missing 3 of the 4 keyed lug nuts and no lug key. I assumed it would not be an issue thinking they must experience this issue time to time. They did not have the correct lug key to remove the one remaining nut. Technicians Chase and Joe went above and beyond to remove the stuck nut while Mustafa and I mulled over my options. With great success they were able to get the nut off and get the job done, on time and with no unexpected costs (other than buying 4 new nuts to replace the missing ones). All in all it was a great tire buying experience and just another reason I have been a loyal Town Fair Tire customer for the past 25 years. Thank you Mustafa, Chase, and Joe for an incredible job and exemplary work ethic.

Couldn't even say how can I help you or I'll be with you in a minute. Nope just stared at me with his stoner eyes. He was more interested in the tv. He actually put on pulp fiction complete with all the expletives. Went there to get semi inexpensive tires. And there was a rebate deal with the ones I picked. Yet they keep denying my claim for the rebate with no explanation. When my car was done I went to the desk to check out. But there was no one there. I did laps around the showroom to find someone. I found 2 guys in an office. I knocked on the door and said I would like to check out. I was told I am in a meeting someone will be with you shortly. I guess the meeting was more important than your customers. I mean without them you wouldn't have a job. Now a days nobody cares. It used to be all about customer service. I went there previously for a slow leaking tire. Which was "repaired" only to start leaking 2 weeks after. I dont know where all the 4 star reviewers on their site went. But it wasn't here. Never again.

I spoke to John and showed him the quote from the Vernon dealership. After reviewing the issue he stated he thought he could fix it for less. So I have a Cadillac CTS and i had a light on for the front drivers tire needing a tire sensor…read more I explain that i have my own that i had bought and John told me he couldn't program it unless it was his. Ok, so i go down there and explain which tire sensor it was and they still insisted it was one of my back tires. I go to leave and my light is still on because they couldn't program it correctly. A week later i called back and they swear they've got the fix now, I left work early to get there, just for them to frantically try to find youtube videos on how to do it, still didn't get it. So i leave and go to the guys i have always trusted for over 10 years over at Pop's and low and behold, it was my front drivers sensor, which they replaced and reprogrammed all my tires for me. So i call John back and he begins to raise his voice at me after i explain i just had to have Pop's do what i paid them to do, he gets extremely defensive and demands the number to Pop's. He speaks to them and i called John back and he asks me to fax the Pop's receipt, so i do. Let it go a few days, he never once in all this called me back on his own and avoided my calls, i know this because calling from a blocked number within seconds and he picked up. So finally he says he will give me back the money for the part, but not the labor money. Why should i pay for labor for a part you couldn't install start to finish and had to be redone because he couldn't program or messed up mine? So at this point it's really for me about how unprofessional to raise your voice with a customer and avoid and be rude and not follow through. Why should i be stuck with the labor charge? Again, it's principle. I don't really care about 50.00, obviously he needs the money more than i do. Just a very disappointing experience. Would not recommended. I will just stick with my guys at Pop's who have never let me down.

I decided to take a chance & bring my car to Hometown after someone recommended them to me because…read morethey are closer than the mechanic that I normally go to (he is great & I never have to spend a fortune with him). I had them look at my car because I've been hearing a loud cracking/creaking sound coming from the front. They look it over & told me it was my struts & shocks. I paid over $1,800 to get them replaced. When I picked my car up, it was still creaking; same sound. I let them know & they told me to come by & take a ride with one of the mechanics. He heard the noise clearly within the first 5 seconds of me driving it. I brought it back for them to look at & they told me that they "accidentally" put the wrong part in my car. They then replaced it with the correct part; great. When I picked my car up for the second time, the same loud cracking/creaking sound was happening. After I sent videos to them from my dash cam (which has the date & time on it) and from my phone of me pulling into my driveway (both in which you can clearly hear the LOUD creaks) I went to the shop and spoke with Jess. I told her that I was extremely upset and frustrated because I just paid almost 2k to get work done on my car that it didn't need. She was very sweet & we worked out a full refund. I will give them credit for that because the situation was handled very well. They knew that I would not be bringing my car back to them and had plans to go to my main mechanic to get it fixed. They told me "We really would love to know what the issue is with it. Please keep us updated when you find out. We are so so sorry about our mistake". Considering how well they handled the situation & how kind they were to me about it, I decided to give them another chance to listen to the sound & get the issue fixed. I dropped my car off for them to look at yesterday. While my car was getting looked at for the third time, I ask them for a quote for a battery replacement on my boyfriends car (the one I have been driving while mine is in the shop) because it won't start without being jumped. They sent me a quote. I accepted & they told me to bring it to them this morning at 8 AM to get it replaced. They texted me a couple hours later about my car, telling me that they heard noises coming from the back & a slight noise coming from the front & I would again need to drive with a mechanic so I could "mimic" the noise. They told me "We had 4 people drive your car & no one heard the creaking". Feeling very frustrated yet again because everyone that I drive with hears the noise and they were heard clearly in the videos, I called my main mechanic and told him about the issue. He immediately reassured me and mentioned a couple things that could be causing it, which Hometown never even thought to look at. I decided to text them back & thank them again for looking at my car, but told them that I would not be going through them to get this problem fixed. I asked them to leave the key in my car (I had my fob to unlock it) & I would be there after work to pick my car up & be back at 8 AM today with my boyfriends car to get the battery replaced as planned. They responded with "ok." When I went to pick my car up from their lot after work, my car was UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY INSIDE. That is extremely frustrating & upsetting especially with the amount of car break ins in Portland recently. Regardless, I still showed up this morning with my boyfriend's car to get the battery replaced because he needs it done. When I walked in the door, the owner looked shock. I told him that I was here to get the battery replaced. He said to me "I know what you're here for. I just didn't think you were going to show up" even though I told them I would be there in the morning. He then processed to tell me that he is not going to change the battery in my boyfriend's car because I was denying their services. He was extremely rude & basically accused me of trying to get free services from them. They were fine with giving me the refund & me bringing my car to a different mechanic to get the issue fixed at first, but since I brought my car back for a third time & ultimately decided not to have them work on it, they deny my boyfriend service just because I'm the one bringing his car in? They wasted my time by having me drive down this morning when they knew they had no intention of replacing the battery. I don't have any faith or trust in them to fix the actual issue with my car & was not going to give them any more of my money to fix something on my car that they think "might" be causing the noise. I do not recommend Hometown to anyone. Not only are their prices ridiculous, but the mechanics don't seem like they have any clue what they're doing. Stay away! The attached videos are from the night I picked my car up for the second time... after they put the correct part in my car. If they can't hear that noise when they drive it, they need to get their ears checked.
