This is THE place to catch SF Giants baseball games! We found out about this being an unofficial Giants bar via Reddit, and it made watching the postseason so much more fun this year. Everyone was wearing hats, jerseys, and other gear! Even though our playoff run has come to a close this season (RIP), finding Prost has made the season more memorable. They have a variety of German beers on tap, and service is super attentive and friendly. It's amazing how much the ladies here can get done, even with a full bar and just two of them serving, pouring, busing, cooking. The cheesy bretzel roll is a great snack, and the roast beef sandwich is killer! Start a punch card on your first visit so that you don't miss out on working toward rewards. read more

My 4 star rating is strictly for the beer. While we did get food here, I thought it was just OK. They only had 1 boot in circulation during our visit and while it was a pain to wait while the 4 other groups in front of us finished their boot, it did bring some competition to the table; which was fun. The atmosphere is very authentic and they have some awesome beers on tap. Everything is also wicked affordable. There aren't many tables for large groups so if you do stop by with a large group, be sure to visit earlier in the day instead of the evening. read more

Good beer. great service. the food is not for my palate at all, but for people who are German of German decent or my European descent will love this food? anyhow the bartender thy day was super energetic and friendly and she gave us samples before we committed to a .3, .5, 1L, Or a boot. who can drink that much beer? apparently a lot of people here up on Phinney. I'm amazed. I'll go for the IPA and NW beers but for a hot day- a light kolsch hits the spot. read more

I'm a fan of Prost's brother-bar in SLU, Feierabend. If you've been there or heard about it, Prost! is really similar. The menu, the beer list, etc is all the same. However, the location is entirely different and therefore so is the atmosphere. I like that Prost! is somewhat more tucked away, somewhat smaller, and somewhat cozier. I love both bars but if I lived closer to Prost I'd probably visit it more often because it has the feel of the types of bars I like to go to. If you like good beer and good food you're in good hands! read more

Bottom fermented goodness. Here in the pacific northwest, beer has to have more going on than just cold and boozy (although that doesn't hurt!) This region has an abundance of craft brewers, brewpubs, fine beer availability, bars dedicated to all things beer, homebrewers, organic beers, unique brews, restaurants with beer pairings...you name it! The bummer for some folks is that most of the craft brews you find in seattle are ales and darnit sometimes a lager beer is just plain refreshing. Enter Prost! with its nice selection of bocks, pils and the like. This is the place for me when I want to kick back with a beer that one could drink all day. And I do mean all day. Servings here can get pretty crazy. While most will opt for a scant liter, there are a few that work their livers and bladders over with a full on boot o' beer. Don't let the beer geeks intimidate you on the styles either, the staff at prost will be happy to hand you a menu of which is which on tap and wait for you to make your selection. I'll always be an american ale guy, its what I brew myself and its what I love, but this place is great to switch it up. read more

Ach du lieber! I loves me some Prost!. If you're in for a cozy, friendly place to sample an ample selection of German imports or inspired beers Prost! (and related bars) is a place to go check out. Picnic benches in the traditional German bier-hall style you can settle in next to strangers and kick off a conversation or keep it to yourself. It seems that whenever I stop in for my fav weissbier I see the owner, Chris, sampling his own wares with patrons. To me that's a great thing an owner/manager who is still inspired by the dream that he's put together in the Phinney neighborhood. read more

It isn't a very big place but the waitress seemed to be struggling to get my friends their food. On the other hand, they have very generous pours of wine and the food is A+ I have the bratwurst sandwich, a pretzel, and the potato leek soup (hey - I was hungry) and all of it was filling and flavorful. I don't find myself in Phinney, but this place along with Carmelita across the street, are worth going back for. Also a must try on Phinney - Red Mill Burgers! read more

Awesome German bar if you're just looking to have a beer or maybe 4 or 5 beers. Nice location.... I was disappointed thinking they had a complete dinner menu of authentic German food, but all they have are a few snack-type items to go with your beer. We tried to different food items and I certainly would not go back for the food. read more

Beer...it's what's for dinner. Ah Prost, it's like a bootycall of beer. Yes, perhaps it can get a little cramped at times but the atmosphere is always warm and the service is typically always good. Their Currywurst always hits the spot and if you like dark beer try the Dinkle Acker dark. By your second liter you'll swear you're speaking German. Prost! read more

This is a great place to stop for some excellent German brew. The beer selection is large even though the restaurant is small. I had some excellent Bratwurst at one of the little tables on the sidewalk in front. This place reminds me of a little place I like outside of Munich. It's authentic German for sure. read more

I love Prost!, as well as Die Bierschtube! I haven't been to their other location(s), but I'm sure I'd love them as well. There's something about these places that make you feel happy whenever you go in. It's either their large assortment of German adult beverages, or their delicious pretzels with mustard, or their cheerful staff. Or maybe its DAS BOOT. Anyway, this place is within walking distance from my house and as you can tell is one of my favorites. Has all of the great things about a little pub you would want. Make sure that you become a member and grab a punch card as you get free stuff as you begin to buy more and more pints. Rewards = good. This place = good. That's it. read more

Note: I've only been here on Sunday evenings...a post volleyball game tradition (I'm not an alcoholic...I just play one on TV). Excellent beers, smartass bartender has been fun. The crowd is definitely dominated by regulars. I've had soup here a few times...very tasty. There's a sit-down two person 1980s galaga game. read more

Good solid German pub, complete with boot option, sausage n mustard, or pretzel orders.

This is a cute spot to grab some serious German beers, which you can order in 3 sizes. I ordered a 0.5 L of the Maisel dunkleweissebeir and enjoyed myself. They serve the beer with rich foamy head. Their food menu is pretty decent, featuring German fare-- Pretzels, land jäger, bratwursts, sauerkraut, etc. For $8 I received a delicious bratwurst with sauerkraut and pickle spears that hit the spot perfectly. Quick note-- although they have Franziskaner logo on their signs, door, walls, etc., they do not actually serve it. They like to serve only authentic German beers and since Franziskaner got bought by AB/InBev, they stopped carrying it. Which is a bit of a shame bc the main reason we stopped in was so my husband could have it on draft and then was disappointed that despite their signage, they no longer carry it. This is the primary reason I gave them a 4 instead of a 5 star. read more

Went here to knock another food off my 100 things to eat before I die list. I had to get curry wurst and Prost had what I needed. Went there after goulash and spaetzle at people's pub so I was stuffed when I got there. They also had a bunch of good German beers on tap but I was too stuffed to try any. What I wasn't too stuffed for was the curry wurst. My oh my was it tasty. For those not in the know curry wurst is a bratwurst that is boiled in seasoned boil then topped with curry ketchup and served with a side of rye bread and pickles. I'll be back! read more

Prost! Tavern - Curry Wurst - German Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This is a fun little German themed bar that serves up decent food in a pub that makes you feel like you are in Europe. My friends and I ended up here to watch the US Women's World Cup and had no problem finding a seat straight away. We ordered a smoked roast beef sandwich and a curry wurst, both of which had good flavor but seemed like small portion sizes for the price. The type of beer they serve is not really my style as the menu focuses a lot on light lagers (considering the lack of flavor these seemed pricey at $5 for .3L). If you like German food and beer definitely drop in for a visit. It's a quality establishment. However both the food and beer menu didn't appeal too much to my particular tastes, especially given the prices. read more

Why the heck am I not supposed to set the beer boot on the table? Why must I adhere to your silly beer boot rule? I understand I'm in foreign territory here, but.... I feel out of place at Prost! in the few times I've been. Maybe it's just me but if you're not a reg, don't count on being noticed... or at least be prepared for service at the waitresses convenience only. Place is small and standing can suck but as long as I have a fine Paulaner Halles Lager in my hand and good company I can make do with the drawbacks. read more

Great place with fun and new beers. The atmosphere is cozy and most of the regulars are really friendly. One of the few places on the ridge that I have encountered without it's super "too cool for school" bullshit. Nice. Food is not worth it, but go for the beer. Great beer and fun customers. Most of the staff is great - Most of them, one black haried girl is not so nice, but 90% of them are super friendly and happy to be there. You know I have been going there more and more lately. I really like it more and more as well. I think this is my new favorite hang out. The weekdays are awesome, the weekends can suck. read more

Seems like every time I head for this place it is too full to fit another person. Which is a shame because it has some mighty fine beers. My favorite is the Dinkel Acker Dunkel, a dark malty lager that I haven't seen anywhere else in Seattle. And you buy it by the liter (confuses some people....don't worry, one liter is less than one gallon) I don't think they have a full kitchen so the food options are slim, especially if you are after dinner, but they are tasty! Other attractions - dart boards, the 2 liter boot and you get a plaque on the wall or a bar stool named after you if you drink enough beer here...hmmmm, not sure I quite want to advertise exactly how much I drink.... read more

I will just give this place 2 for now...but that is if I ever go back again. I favor german bars as it is of my heritage and so my man & I stopped in one day for one. Very small. Very packed. We took the only seats at the bar that were left. The bartender didn't even acknowledge us for at least 5 minutes. Then, without a smile, she asked us what we wanted. "Well, sorry to inconvenience you" I felt like saying. Their "member" paraphernalia was pretty cool- shirts, mugs, even nameplates at the barstools for the hardcore Prost-ers. After we finished, we toyed with the idea of having another, but, again, she took her sweet time getting to us. Screw it, we said, paid with a very minimal tip, and left. We're outta here. read more

I love this place. I've come in a couple times and it just feels comfortable right away. The food is comforting and good. The beer is German. The staff are friendly and, dare I say, warm? Last night, they mulled some wine and included everyone in on the process of burning the sugar into it. Then, they gave everyone a taste. In a Seattle land where there's so little soul, it's wonderful that this place keeps it personal. read more

BEST BAR IN ALL THE LAND. Stop whatever you are doing and run to Prost! asap. Down to earth bartenders, delicious beer, great atmosphere and in an awesome neighborhood. I used to go all the time but I have to cut back on the beer intake. Anyways, go get a stein and let the good times roll. I havent had any "real food" there but ya can't go wrong with a pretzel. Especially after a few beers. BOOM. Yay for Prost! read more

Coming in, you get greeted to a funky smell of something (hops or saukraut). The beer menu is awesome (if you like German beer). The place is cozy and the people nice. Great place to hang out wiht your buddies. Feels like you got transferred to Germany or somewhere in Montana. This place can get packed real quick and tends to happen on the weekend. German beer and the pretzels are a must! read more

Prost! is where I met my boyfriend. I attended the Trivia night here every Monday for months with a good friend and we always enjoyed the atmosphere and service. It's insane how the service is always on point, no matter how crazy busy this place gets. The space is very limited so I would suggest arriving early-ish if you want to cop a squat. Otherwise, where very comfortable shoes. Don't say I didn't warn you. The building is a little hidden and I tend to basically pass it almost every time. Parking is easily found along the side streets. Do not park in the lot at the market next door, FYI. Inside, the lighting is great in the day as the wall facing the street is basically all window so you get a lot of natural light. At night, the dark wood mixed with the low lighting make the feel of the place relaxed and encourages you to take your leisure and time in whatever you are doing. My BF claims that I was a brunette when we met (I'm a BRIGHT red head), to give you an idea how how dark it can seem. The beer is great and potent! 1-2 liters gets me rolling on a major good one. If you are not familiar with The German beer, ask the bartenders. They are pretty well versed and can help you make some pleasant choices. The fair is traditional so again, if you are not familiar with the culture, ask questions. read more

Dieser Stab ist ein Spaort fr ein Getrnk. This bar is a fun place for a beverage. I enjoy the beer, the pretzels, and the overall ease in atmosphere. I really wish they would open one of these in QA. I've been to the sister bar Feierabend in SLU and Prost is just as cool. Love the ambiance, decor, German beer selection and German cuisine. Nothing's finer than tossing back German schwarz bier out of liter steins and chewing on a huge pretzel. The rustic interior looks like you've stepped into Germany and the wooden tables and bar complete the scene. My favorite time to hit this place up is on a Thursday night. I had such a good time here, I came back that same weekend and brought the wifey and baby. Super stoked they are kid friendly. Pappa's gotta have a place to throw em back as well. read more

3 1/2 Stars I'll raise a glass to Prost!- part of my continuing journey to explore and exploit the GA. The woody walls remind me of the timbered halls of Trier- a French border region which I had the pleasure of perusing a few years back...and what did I tickle me fancies with in those German halls? Bitte ein Bit! And this was amply avail at Prost- oh, there are naysayers I'm sure- "it's the Budweiser of German beers"- well snobby snobster, go fling yourself in the Danube, please. I enjoy ordering using the Bitte ein Bit! slogan and the bartender obliged. I also had a Optimater and it was tasty. The staff were generally friendly, the place was comfy and the beer was tasty! I'll eat the next time I'm in...PROST! read more

Pluses: -Pretzels with sinus-clearing mustards and a neat pile o' salt for dipping. -Excellent selection of German weissbiers to fuel my addiction. -Cozy, with dim lighting. -Pacman tabletop arcade game that I must try at some point. -Good prices -- friends visiting from South Florida remarked that the liters of beer are at least a dollar cheaper than they'd seen in the Sunshine State. -The high probability that cute dogs will be hanging out amidst the flowerboxes that flank the front door, waiting for their imbibing owners and maybe even trying to follow you inside. Minuses: -Pretzels are great with the beer, but I'll agree with the other reviewers: They're just a notch above the venerable delicacy that is the frozen Super Pretzel. Don't expect anything fancy or homemade here. -Tiny, so it's not great for groups. -Wait staff can be a little hard to pin down when it comes to basic things like bringing checks. read more

Delicious! 2 0.5 liters of German beer knock me on my ass every time. Ladies: men reside here! And they talk to you! Only downside -- one of the regulars tried to engage me in a convo about reverse discrimination at work. Yeaaaaah...move along. read more

Really cool vibe and service. The beer was great (and large!) I had to get used to the fact that they are family-friendly; I have nothing against this; it's just funny to see kids in what looks like a bonafide bar. I'm completely puzzled by this place. Went here once about a year ago and liked it enough. Beer selection was good and the food was pretty decent. But then, I go there again about two months ago when a friend was in town and I was shocked at how bad it was. It was about 7 or 8 at night, and the place was a little busy, but not overly so. My friend and I order two of the curry sausages and some beer to start. The beer that was poured was so heady that it was flat on the first sip. When the food came, both mine and her sausage were completely inedible. As a former cook, I could tell what they had done: they had (barely) precooked it and then (barely) reheated it to order. The result was a mushy, disgusting, lukewarm mess. The only reason this review is getting an extra star is due to the OK experience from the first time around. Otherwise, I would have to say that this was easily the most disappointing bar I've been to, and I've never left a bar faster. Might have been a new and altogether terrible bartender, but I'm definitely not coming back to find out. read more

Such a great pub with a really interesting rotating German beer selection. My husband and his friends meet at Prost EVERY Friday night. I join them at least once a month and always have such a great time! The beer is good and the food is solid, but - most importantly - the ladies tending bar are the BEST! I most often see Helen and Jessica there and they are hands down, the reason we all keep going back. Those ladies are super friendly, professional and skilled at pouring all those high-maintenance German beers while also taking good care of the customers. Thanks ladies! Oh, and that smoked pork chop is killer... Yum. read more

First off, let me start by saying, I do not typically like beer. It's very filling, and takes me a long time to drink. And being the nuerotic girl I am, I can't stand drinking anything if its gone warm. So, I usually steer clear from the beer! HOWEVER, I love Prost! And it's beer. Contridicting my entire previous statement. Don't you love doing that? A must is the Franziskaner Weissbier, very light, and a bit sweet. And surprisingly tastes reminicent of bananas. NOT my favorite fruit, but tasty in my beer. If you're brave order the 2 litre boot, and share it with your friends. Or if you're a boozer drink it all yourself. Don't forget to order a hot pretzel with 2 kinds of mustard, it'll save you from the drunk stumble to find food later. read more

My boyfriend & I love to frequent German establishments in whatever new city we find ourselves in, so we finally made it to Prost! to see how Seattle's German fare compares to the rest of the country's. One takeaway is that I definitely can't judge purely on this place alone, as the (food) menu was ridiculously short. I'll be visiting the sister establishments before coming to any conclusions. However, my thoughts on this place are that it is quite small, so I could see not being able to get a table easily if you came during prime drinking hours, which would be quite a disappointment if you had been looking forward to a delicious pint of German beer all week. The food was good, but not great (the beet salad was my favorite thing, but I don't crave it the way I crave other dishes from other German restaurants I've been to), though frankly, I would have liked to have seen more variety. There were less than a handful of items that even appealed to me, and I like to drink on a full stomach so that I don't get stupid drunk super fast. Trust me, no one else wants this either! ;) Bottom line, the beer is top notch and after having the best damn time out after a couple liters (him) and a couple pints (me) that we've had in a looong time, my boyfriend and I decided this is definitely a place we'd come back to to drink...but that's about it. read more

I like Prost! I also love German food and beer, so that is probably why I like this place, The staff is friendly, and so are the regulars I've met. so it's a comfortable place to drink. That said, the place has a number of problems that keep it at the 3 star level, and it probably rates a star lower to people who can't deal with it's faults. Fault number one is that their kitchen in a joke. While they use only the finest ingredients, there is not much you can do with toaster oven and a weenie boiler. Yes, they use only Bavarian Meats products, and everyone knows their würst is the best. I'm not asking much, just some spätzle and rot kol to go with my würst. The next fault is that they are just too tiny. Now, I don't judge a place by the physical limits of the space they are in. I do judge a place by how they use the space they have, When you have a long and narrow space, it's already hard for people to move around when you get busy. Now, when you split that long, narrow, space in half with a buddy bar so that you can call the other side the 'dinning room' for your class H license, all you really accomplish is making the place even more dangerous in a fire, and only handicapped accessible if there is no one there. I don't know what this place could do if someone showed up on a busy night in a wheel chair, and expected any sort of accommodation. Still, when I have that urge to get my drink on in the German style, nothing beats a liter of Spaten Oktoberfest and some curry-würst at Prost! read more
