I had the Boise Company Pretzel with cheese and a large Stein of the Hofbrau. We had great service, the pretzel and beer were tasting. My husband ordered a half pour after finishing his first and he let the server pick their favorite and he rolled with it well and picked a delicious beer for my husband to drink. The patio looks awesome and will be super nice to enjoy when the weather is nicer. The only pitfall or thing that prevented me from making this 4 stars was the music selection. It was around 11am on a Saturday and the music was extremely loud and it was extremely angry music, so that made it a bit more difficult to enjoy (I know that is a little thing to be bothered by). Overall, I would go again and look forward to enjoying more time trying their beer selection and eating pretzels (who doesn't love pretzels?). read more

As usual, giving my more or less neutral three-star review until another visit is effected. It was mostly good, with one, obnoxious bad. The bad: cheesy bretzel! This was like a hot dog bun with melted cheese. Open the hot dog bun, put in the cheese (your choice of swiss, which is what we chose, gouda or havarti), then put cheese on TOP of the hot dog bun, then melt. That's what you get for $7. A hot dog bun filled and covered with melted cheese. Not $7 worthy. The bread might be made in-house or by some local artisan, but it still had the taste and consistency of a hot dog bun. Sadly, this is the only food we tried. The good: BEER! Tons of delicious, imported, German (and otherwise, I assume) BEER! We had a liter mug of Spaten Oktoberfest and it was exactly what we wanted. The digs are pretty sweet, too; it's tiny in a cozy, fun way, with wood furniture and dim lighting and relatively friendly waitstaff. Yay! read more

Had so much fun experiencing prost and the boot! Full glass boot full of good beer and really fun to enjoy with friends! I love the atmosphere but was a little small. What a treat to meet friends old and new for dinner and a brew here. This beautiful space really is all about community. The availability of some solid German beer, available in 1L mugs, is part of what earns the extra star. The bartenders also give really good service, but not quite enough to outstrip what follows. The good stuff ends here. The food is a complete disaster. I very much doubt they have any kitchen equipment in the back, save a steamer. There are no grill marks, no browning, no frying, nothing. Sure it's all custom and traditional meats, but it's not very good; more akin to eating bologna (or the leavings from a briss) than anything. The cheese is also very traditional in name, but about as traditional in flavor as WinCo's mild cheddar (not to mention the saukerkraut). I can get better sausage in a bun at 2am for $3-6 from the hotdog carts around the corner, compared to their $7 offering. The pretzel, the pretzel... this is why we need to be able to swear on Yelp. I have all the love in the world for Gaston's (they're my favorite!), but Mathieu Choux, what was that 'bretzel' supposed to be? Revenge for German occupation? Rumor also has it that Prost! refuses to give out tasters (as in I talked to the person who was refused tasters.) and this is going to hurt them all kinds of ways. The bartenders are cool, but the owner/manager seems a bit of an oddball; roams the front of the house talking to customers like he's pitching sales, when they're already in the door and ordering the food. Makes comments while walking by, often. Prost!, why can't you be more like Bier:Thirty? I'd even settle for having your Portland menu over here. read more

This used to be our go to when visiting Boise. This last visit was not so great. I understand the whole mask thing, but even if you stand up at the table to stretch you are required to put the mask on. Total BS. And it was the way I was told....very rude!!! We had 8 people and were told we could only have 6...state law. This is not true. We went right over to 10 barrel and all 8 of us were seated together! Sorry probst, you lost out on a big bill! They have some nice beers you can't get easily anywhere else in Boise. However, they are also unique among our local beer snobberies in not typically offering tasters. I asked the waitress for a couple. She provided them, but only after making a thing of how they don't normally do that. The food is of okay quality, but way too expensive for cold salads and sandwiches and steamed fare served without sides. Their pretzels are inexcusably bad for a German place. They're made by a local French bakery, and taste like lingering international animosities taken out on an innocent appetizer. The atmosphere is pretty okay, though. I come here occasionally for a drink, but would not bother with the food again. read more

Nice selection of German beers on draft I wish they had more of the varieties of Paulaner and Spaten beers bottled, but there are very good equivalents that can be had in a 1 litre glass. The currywurst would be better served in a larger puddle of curry catsup, but not too much! Also maybe with fries instead of sliced bread. Giant beers. I should just stop there. That should be enough said. But since I have some time on my hands... Yes. Go here. It is a small German pub with traditional German beers and food. It is owned by a small group of local beer lovers as well as some from out of state. I usually go for the high ABV stuff at Bitter Creek (a.k.a. The BC) , but upon I was reminded of my younger days when I would ingest high quantities of light beer. The great thing about Prost! is that is meets me right there in that sweet spot. The beers are very good quality, but not so heavy and/or devastatingly strong that you only need one. Sometimes, you just wanna drink beer. The sessionable beers at Prost! allow you to drink a lot of beer without being too tore from alcohol content and without having to put 18 bud lights into your face. Let's be real though, I was feeling something after the 2nd litre. Also, I applaud the punch card system. Drink beer, get your card punched, get merch. If I'm gonna be drinking anyway, why not get some T-Shirts out of it. Prost! does it right. Not all bar have a firm grasp on the rewards system. Favorite joint in downtown Boise! A couple of folks from a local brewery told us about Prost! on the first day we arrived. My husband loves authentic German food and it's tough to find a German deli or restaurant close by where we are from. Happy we decided to check it out! Super cool bartenders and SO MUCH German beer to choose from! They had to help us pick what would go best with our food since we don't drink German beers often. Not too many options for vegetarians but I definitely recommend the cheesy German pretzel with mustard. Needless to say, our food and beers were sehr gut! read more

A good selection of German beers and ciders on draft -- enough to satisfy everyone at the table -- served in .3, .5 and 1.0 liter sizes, each in its appropriate glassware (we will see how long that lasts). A Food: Pricy for what you get. Not a true kitchen, but seemingly a glorified prep area that heats and dishes out pre-cooked meals. Pretzels are good ($5) but a bit much for some bread and mustard. The larger group plates are vastly overpriced for what you get -- $12 for a thin spread of bland cold cuts, a few small pieces of chopped up rye bread, a half a radish fanned out, and a quarter of an apple fanned out. I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. Service was the WORST i have EVER received The manager was condescending and rude and lacked any kind of customer service skills. We were trying to support local business with our wedding party of 14 due to his awful demeanor and service we could not stay. The owner of this business really needs to look at their customer service policy and re-examine who they have representing their business. If nothing else that manager needs to go through an anger management class.This is a case where the managers attitude alone lost a lot of business for the this restaurant that most cant afford to happen in our economic climate. We ended up leaving and having a lovely meal across the street at Matadors. Do yourself a favor and pass right by Prosti and go to Matadors across the street they could not have been nicer and more wonderful to our family gathering. read more
